The food was just okay but expensive for what you get. The crab cake Benedict was very fishy which even half-decent crab should NOT be. The potatoes on both of our plates were extremely overcooked making them inedible except maybe 2 bites. The service was extremely slow considering that the place was not busy in the least.

The restaurant is set up with walls to section Off areas, the atmosphere is calm. Theres not loud music playing. All the staff was smiling and friendly willing to help. I will return but that house range. They have has a little bit of spice to it if you dont like spice. Parking: The parking lot to megs is connected in a weird way to surrounding businesses. So you just have to maneuver around the maze of roads1, but its not horrible. And to get there, you either have to come in the street from them back or connect through one of the surrounding businesses if you use the G. P s follow it and itll get you there.

Came for brunch this past Sunday and the food was good overall but there was an issue with the wait. One of my kiddos wanted to sit outside and we were told the outside wait was actually shorter but I think they forgot about us and tables were open outside until my wife and another gentleman mentioned that the tables outside were open. My son loved the chicken and waffles and we also had the deviled eggs appetizer and pretzel bites that my kids loved with the cheese. I tried the Greek salad with grilled chicken which was tasty but the chicken breast was very very dry. I always get the brown butter pecan pancake and it is a winner every single time! I would put this pancake up against some of the best anywhere. The rest of the family enjoyed their waffles and sandwiches as well.

My sons (one teen and one young adult) and I met my Mom there today for a late lunch. The waitress was delightful and very attentive. The food was great!! I had the Greek salad, my Mom had a Belgian waffle with strawberries. One son had a double hamburger with bacon and fries and the other had chicken and waffles. The only tiny complaint any of us had was my son said the chicken had an unusual citrus flavor. But otherwise, it truly was wonderful. It did take a long time for our food to come out which was disappointing as there werent a lot of people there since it was mid-afternoon. But the absolute worst is it was ridiculously cold in the restaurant. We even asked them to turn the thermostat up and while she said she did, it never got any warmer at all. We were freezing the entire time. It is late September and warm outside but it was truly unbearably cold in there. Another restaurant goer said they were going outside as it was too cold in there so I know it wasnt just us. Im not sure we would go back due to that, unless we all brought heavy jackets. Or sat outside. But it was too warm for my mom to sit outside.

Came in to pick up a DoorDash front Host (blonde hair big mole on her forehead) was hard to hear, really rude, and unwelcoming. Lady at the bakery made a face as I walked towards her and was also unwelcoming. Really weird vibes. I m very kind so it was unnecessary their responses to me. Can not appreciate that. Would never eat here.

Will never go to an establishment that has Racist customers. Got on waiting list and my wife who is Asian asked to sit next to a lady while waiting and this person said Id rather not have you sit by me. Funny how she let another lady (white) sit with her and didnt say anything. This was in front of the staff that werre putting people on the waiting list and she said it loud enough for everyone to hear. Your staff did nothi ng. So I guess these are your prefered customers. HORRIBLE to hear this kind of Racism in todays society and here in this community.

I don t know how this cafe gets such good reviews. Our food was terrible! I ordered a wrap with pork, lettuce, black beans & corn. My first bite had pork but the rest of that half of the wrap didn t have any pork. I unwrapped the other half and found only 2 very small pieces of pork. So I payed a lot of money for a lettuce wrap. My husbands sandwich melt was terrible as well. The bread was so hard he couldn t eat it and there was very little cheese. We will not go back.

So I ordered with DoorDash. I got the Chicken and Waffles, wife got the Waffles Benedict. I feel like when you dine in maybe the portions are bigger but unfortunately we don t have that option as my daughter has her appointments on this side of town each week that aren t very long. But for 17.95 my Chicken and Waffles came with 3 small tenders and 3 Waffle strips. Chicken was a little dry, the waffle was good. I just feel like it was small basically. 17.95 for that.. that thing should come with atleast 4 tenders for that price and how small them things are. Just feel like it s a bit of a rip off. Cost is high for such a small amount that barely fills you up. I m cheap I don t like to spend and I do a lot of bodybuilding so I do a lot of cooking and avoid eating out but them times I do I guess I have high expectations.

Had the soup and an order of street tacos. Soup was cold and not much flavor. Street tacos were also cold. The tortillas tasted like they came out of bag and not warmed at all The filling was meager and not flavorful. What a mistake to order these. After lunch used the rest room and soap dispenser was wall mounted type but was just sitting on counter. Took one hand to keep upright while trying to get soap with other. I was really disappointed in the whole endeavor. Megs at one time was a good restaurant. Sad management seems to be asleep at the switch. Won t be back anytime soon

I was told this is a good restaurant so I decided to try it. I ordered the (three)dom of choice, it was eggs, potatoes, sausage and an order of French toast. First of all the French toast I ordered was a cinnamon bun and it turned out to be a cinabun cut in half with powdered sugar The potatoes were big chunks of burnt potatoes with no taste no other choice of potatoes. I only ended eating the egg and sausage. I also ordered coffee which was Luke warm. When the waiter picked up my plate he noticed over half my meal was not eaten and didnt ask if there was any thing wrong with my meal. The seating is way to close and you dont have any personal space. Overall Im not interested in going back and not recommending it to any one.

A breakfast of eggs, toast and sausage is anything but typical restaurant fare at Meggs. The excellent sausage is made at a local meat market, and the eggs are very fresh and cooked in whatever style you please. But what really sets them apart is the selection of homemade breads for the toast. I think there were 9 or 10 options, and it was hard to make a choice. I can definitely recommend the apple cinnamon, but I plan to go back and try the others. I have previously had the eggs Benedict served on a crab cake instead of an English muffin, and it was scrumptious. We got outstanding service from Courtney. She mixes good service with the sort of friendly warmth you hope for in a cozy cafe. That is not to imply Meggs is some run-of- the-mill country diner. Its not. But it has the feel of a small town place even though it is in city near a major hospital. If you are in Temple at breakfast or lunchtime, give Meggs a try. And if you dont have time to sit down and eat, grab a muffin, scone or other treat from their bakery.

Although he did manage to forget our milk for our son and we had to remind him, but other than that he was great. Only reason for 4 stars is there seems to be no depth to the menu, perhaps a few more burgers or a new breakfast dish would get it going. The brunch burger is amazing

Bumping up to 3 stars. Thanks Previous: This was probably our worst experience ever with Meggs. The restaurant wasn t very crowded but we did have to wait for a table. There was one other couple sitting in the waiting area, so we had a seat and waited. Several others came in and added their names to the list. Then a couple come in and are told that there s an outside table available if they would like it. I would have loved an outside table but since I didn t ask for one I decided to wait. I checked my name and was told there were a few people in front of me. When I questioned this they said it would only be about 15 minutes. Well, we had already been waiting about 30 minutes so when they called others that came in after us we got up and left. We went to another restaurant and were sitting with our food when we got the call that our table was ready.

Delicious food and friendly staff. My only complaint is they were out of grits, but I was there around 2pm, so not really their fault they had run out by then.

***EDIT*** Not sure whats going on, but this place seems to be struggling a bit. The staff was disconnected, Parts of my order were missing, the portions I did get were smaller and yet prices had gone up, Dishes were dirty, beer taps didnt work. On a positive note, the food itself did taste good. Hopefully they can pick things up over there.... See below for original review from 4 years ago which I firmly supported until now ***END EDIT*** Hands down my favorite restaurant in Temple. Delicious food wonderful staff and everyone really seems to be happy here! I am Always treated with smiles and friendly service. The food is amazing, they get fresh produce locally. Also they have beer and wine if you need a little break. All in all you wont find a better restaurant in Temple! Dont think about it anymore, this is the spot to go.

we have been to meggs plenty of times, and we have noticed in last year that service and food was not as great as in the beginning, and thought of not going any longer, well we decided on one more try, we were disappointed , unfortunately it has gotten worse, hope it goes back to what it was.

Our brunch experience at Meggs Cafe left mixed impressions. The staffs warm welcome was appreciated, but the Island mimosa fell short in sweetness for my taste, leading me to leave it unfinished. The speedy arrival of our food was a plus, but the potatoes lacked seasoning and were disappointingly hard. The chicken sausage, unfortunately, was rubbery and challenging to cut with a fork. On a positive note, the fried egg was satisfactory, and the Brown Sugar Pecan pancakes, while large and soft, felt like they were missing a special touch perhaps a brown sugar bourbon glaze could enhance the flavor. Despite some highlights, the overall dining experience didnt compel me to revisit; it seems my cousins may have overestimated the allure of this establishment.

Apparently the menu on THEIR website is not updated to reflect what they have or what they charge and they are not consistent with what they offer, it fluctuates depending on who takes your order which is not good for business.

First time to Meggs. Reviewed menu ahead wife has many allergies. Went with breakfast even though it was 11:30, breakfast is usually very safe and basic. Menu is misleading. I will start with the toast. Should be easy but not..all their toast is rock hard. Literally the hardest toast we ever had. I had sourdough wife raisin bread..both breads you could break the bread apart. No bend no softness (like all toast I have ever had in my 60 year life). Hard as a crouton. With all the paprika (one of wifes major allergy) in most of their sausage and other meats she went with grits (which I never saw on menu). Grits came out covered in cheese. Sent back and was brought another bowl with no extra cheese. They were made with cheese also. So anyway cheesy grits are for sure not a central Texas thing because I have never seen or had them. Apparently a southeast US thing. They were terrible. Some people might like them we did not at all. Wifes scrabbled eggs were both over cooked and runny at the same time hmm. I had two of the hardest non bendable sausage patties in my life. Could not skewer with my fork. They serve breakfast all day until 3 but noon apparently not fresh. The sausage was cooked and sitting on grill for at least and hour or two according to how dry they were. On a positive note our server was fantastic and very accommodating. Especially with the allergies. Unfortunately she doesnt cook also And I had the BEST blueberry muffin of my life! I wish I had better things to say about the food but it was what I experienced. I will say after getting home I looked at the menu again. It list all the different breads and there are many at the bottom the last one it says soft bread. Sure wish I had seen that but who would had thought all the rest would be as hard as you can imagine. Again maybe some of you like that style. I never had a choose of hard toast before anywhere. Not my cup of tea.

This place is ok, no biggie. The music is kind of loud for conversation or speaking to people who cant hear very well. The food was really good but their homemade fresh bread was hard. They had a fly in the bread box, their cinnamon raisin bread didnt taste like cinnamon. I think I got my fill of experience for the place.

Amazing busy cafe with excellent service and amazing food! I wholly recommend the pastrami hash and deviled eggs, they are among the top 3 I have ever tasted in my life. The portion size of the pastrami hash can honestly feed 2. The crab cake benedict is incredibly scrumptious with a perfect balance of salt, sweet, and umami. The monte Cristo benedict was too sweet and tasted like pure maple sugar. As a food hack, you must get a side of a biscuit and sausage gravy which is less than the benedict dish. Flavor 5/5 Value 5/5 Service 5/5 Atmosphere 4/5 busy and loud but appropriate Vegetarian options: Can make vegetarian options as requested Dietary restrictions: Can substitute items as requested Kid-friendliness: Plenty of seating for the family Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible entrance and handicap spots

One star is even too much!!! The first time we ate there it was mediocre (at best) but we like to give places a second change. HUGE MISTAKE! My husband and I had the WORST meal we ve ever had in our life. Let s start with the wait times, it took almost 10 minutes just for the server to come over. Another 5 minutes just to get drinks. After placing the order another 35 minutes to get the food. I was in my scrubs and had to go to work after. It s a Monday morning, not even a weekend. Once we got the food my omelette was barely warm and the bacon was raw! I mean raw like straight from the package. I was chatting and didn t realize until it was in my mouth. I consider myself a lady but I was forced to spit it into my napkin. I was embarrassed but I had no choice. My husband steak was flavored horrible and so tuff he could barely cut it with the knife. His eggs were so over cooked to the point they were like rubber. The toast wasn t even toasted. The potato s were the only edible thing on either of our plates. 15 more minutes go by waiting for our waiter to bring the check. My husband had to go to the front just to ask to get the check. We both left nauseous and hungry after paying $39 for 2 breakfast (before tip). I don t know how this place got such good reviews, it was so bad I don t want to go to any restaurant for a while but will never go to that nightmare restaurant again!
