Ive been here quite a bit. Usually I get the spicy pork with kimchi and rice, but today I got the seafood and rice. It was okay. Not too bad but it wasnt too good either. The mussels and clams were a little gritty, and the dish as a whole was bland. My usual, the pork and rice, always comes out okay. The service is good, Im always attended to quickly, and the restaurant itself is nice, well lit with lots of seating and its clean. They also do a promo with a punch out card, which I like.

Okay me, remember that youve been here. Good pork tofu soup , okay kimchi little on the sweat side, good Korean potato salad. Tofu soup might have msg, mmm so good though. Banchan portions could be a bigger, ran out of kimchi pretty fast.

Ate here and the food brought me no joy. The seafood tofu soup tasted like spicy tofu water... Cup Ramen is tastier than it because it at least has MSG. I have never left soondubu jigae unfinished but this I had to force myself to finish half of it. The bibimbap vegetables were cold and without any salt (there was a little sesame oil so I cannot say unseasoned). I understand a lot of the stuff may be made beforehand and this may be a chain restaurant but it could of at least been microwaved. Staff was also rude and untrained. I was only charged for one item and had to remind the staff I ordered and would like to pay for two. The only redeeming part of the meal was that the food that the soup and rice were served in very hot stone pots. Even the ban chans were oddly either unseasoned or super salty. My favorite part of my meal was the fried egg. Would not recommend to anyone. Please eat at pho Ben or even inside 99 ranch if you want a better hot meal.

When we got inside this place, it had nice decor and a decent number of people. They had a wait list, which made me think this place was worth looking into. And I was not disappointed one bit. Food portions was comparable to buffet style and reasonable priced. Very tasty and it didnt require me to cook it either or have the smell on my body and clothes. Will be returning again in the future! Look at how much food we got for under $40. Id say this place is doing great things and will be making others regret their high buffet prices.

Update 7/24/2024: I drop down this restaurant from a five star to a four star because the food was a little too salty the spicy pork Bulgogi was a little too oily. The service was not very attentive asked for a refill on the kimchi that never arrived. They didn t bring out rice with the three combination orders. A very disappointing experience when I ve been there twice with the last 10 months and had a much better experience. Don t know if it was the staff service or this is a sign that this restaurant is going downhill. 9/2023: Great flavors in the Korean food here. The menu is split up into main segments: Appetizers, BBQ meats, Soup, Combinations, noodles, bibimbap, etc. We ordered a variety of BBQ meat, soups and other dishes. I definitely recommend it and will be back. I give this a five star rating.

(Geugeo Mas-iss-eo) Thats what I would have said if I knew more Korean. Massively delicious and jam-packed during lunch! Thus, another resto worth returning to as you pass through Houston. The stone pot entrees are filling. Keep in mind to bring a take-out box because you dont want to toss your leftovers. The staff were welcoming and attentive. Thoughtful and considerate when they learned of my food allergy.

I recently visited Jangguem Tofu & BBQ in Sugar Land for lunch. I tried the Jangguem Chicken Box Lunch and the BBQ Chicken Box Lunch, along with the Rapokki. The portions were large, and the food was cooked well except for the Ramen in the Rapokki. If you prefer spicier food, you might want to request additional hot sauce on the side, as the dishes I had were a bit bland. Overall, it was a decent lunch spot.

Great Korean BBQ. Served family style, with awesome sides and condiments. Their bulgogi is some of the best I ve had. Sweet, savory, and just delicious. I also recommend the Pork Cutlet. Fried to perfection, wonderful sauce and delicious salad. Very casual atmosphere with a staff that is very attentive. Prices are reasonable and portions reflect the price. Parking: Be ready to hunt for a parking spot. Many great restaurants and grocery stores in the shopping center, and the traffic can be high.

The servings here were huge, and our whole family enjoyed the meal. We shared several dishes, including bulgogi, beef ribs, tofu, pancakes, and noodles. My wife is Korean and very picky when it comes to Korean food. This place lived up to our expectations, and we will undoubtedly return for more delicious food.

I have costed the Jang Guem Tofu & BBQ place 3 times. Although we ordered a variety of food, I originally went for their Korean BBQ fries chicken. I really love their Korean BBQ. There are a variety of flavors to choose from, I ordered original, honey and bbq. Their was another style it was close to honey mustard ( my husband likes that flavor, I am not a fan of honey mustard) but the food was delicious. I also order kimchi fries and Korean green onion pancakes. The place was clean, the waiter only came 2 times to the table but was really friendly. If you enjoy the meals there look forward to the Loyalty Rewards card they stamp your card when you order $20 or more, you get a free med fried chicken. I will go back again. Parking: It s in a shopping center so plenty of place to park. Kid-friendliness: Great place for anyone

Went on a Saturday evening around 7:30pm. We were seated right away. The waiter came by a few times to ask what drink we wanted and if we were ready to order. Seems like all the waiters are just trying to get food and water orders in. Different people would come by. We did family style to try multiple things. Ordered C1. Galbi and Tofu Soup (combination), 1 flavor of Korean Fried Chicken with K3. Jang Guem Junkie Sauce (this comes with fries), and P2. Haemul Pajeon (seafood pancake). Overall, the food was good except for the Tofu Soup. We ordered mild spicy, which should not have effected the flavor. However, the tofu soup didnt taste right. Major issue is with service. Surprising, but not surprising at the same time. We received the Galbi first. This is a combination order, but the tofu soup and rice came until WAY later. Not sure why the items didnt come all together to allow you to enjoy together. I like eating my rice with my Korean BBQ and soup. Helps with the balance. Also, the meat was getting cold while we were waiting for the rice and soup. A little later, we got the Korean Fried Chicken and tofu soup. Each item generally took a while to arrive. We had to ask for our rice MULTIPLE times from MULTIPLE servers, which was frustrating. After the meal, I asked for the bill. The waiter/server acknowledged, BUT he did not bring our bill. Instead, he went to the cash register and proceeded to take payment from other customers. After a while, I decided to join the payment line. They waiter/server didnt say anything about paying at the register. As I got closer to the line, I realized that the customers were listing out their items to the staff to make payment. Super inefficient. I wait for about 15 mins or what felt like forever since we wanted to leave to get some dessert or something. By the time we were done, it was 8:45pm so we had LIMITED time to get dessert. Note: we dealt with multiple different people. I think they all just try to serve everyone, which makes it unorganized.

Several time came here we love their foods but one day got super bad experience, order ramen hot stone, came taste different than before we ordered, we asked to make a new one because taste weirds and smells strong soybean and super grease taste or whatever, but this is not a right taste we ordered last time, and I asked the waiters, he told us make new one for us, but came out the same our own food before, and I taste it again taste more worse and my noodle become super shoggy, I asked again are you just making from our food before ? And he suddenly silent for a while and then he told hmmm yea we just added chili, no wonder our noodles very shoggy and smells more stronger we can t eat those foods and we left that restaurant. We will never go back to get Korean foods there.

Today I came here hoping to eat some Korean food. As soon as we entered, we smelled a strong smell of oil exhaust. Furthermore, when we sat down, a staff member who was taking plates spoke to us rudely, telling us where to sit because the previous staff member didnt clearly instruct us. I have to ask, is this the kind of serving I should take when coming to this restaurant to pay for a meal? The appetizer we had mashed potatoes was also very watery. Im not sure if it had gone bad or what. Also , the Korean bbq was very less amount of it, and I paid $20 only got a few slices of meat. I can only say that my experience here was insanely ridiculous . I will never visit this restaurant again and do not go here!

Id give this place 0 stars if I could, because nothing went right during our recent visit here. Came on a Saturday evening around 6pm and the place was packed, it quickly became clear they were severely understaffed and the servers were overwhelmed. We waited for 20 min before having to wave someone just to get water and to order. We then waited for an hour to get our food and most of the tables around us had long wait times too. We kept getting ignored when trying to ask for updates, it was a pretty hectic situation. When we finally got our food, the taste was so bad I couldnt take more than 2 bites. My noodles were undercooked so it tasted grainy. We literally just decided to take the food to go because the experience was so bad. But when we tried to get to go box they continued to ignore us, so we finally had to try to find our own containers. When my wife asked the guy at cash register for a larger container for our noodles he yelled at her saying they dont have any. I finally stood up and asked for a manager, only to find out their manager is not there on the busiest day of the week. The same guy who yelled came to us and I told him to not raise his voice and to keep it professional. He apologized profusely and told us we didnt have to pay for our food. Im not exaggerating when I say this is THE worst dining experience Ive had, and will never come back here ever again. There are way too many good restaurants in Houston for anyone to waste their time or money at a restaurant that has both bad food and bad service.

Food here is great but the service is less than ideal. We had a Korean gentleman next to us that the waiter kept going back to but we were left largely alone the whole meal. Only one glass of water to hold us over is not great when eating spicy food. Unfortunately, even though we loved the food here, the taste of poor service will keep us from coming back.

Its ok. We have been here a few times before I decided to review. Bulgogi beef- decent Korean fried chicken- disappointing because even the spiciest flavors are mild. Not even a little kick for us spice lovers. Pancakes- too oily and not as crispy as they should be.

I d recommend to get it extra spicy. The seafood pancake was way bigger than we expected. As the BBQ & pancakes, even the rice was served in hot stone pot. Must visit if you re in sugarland area. Service speed & accuracy can improve, we finished our first serving of banchan way before food arrived. The server gave us wrong noodle at first.

Love this place, food is great, service can be a little slow depending on how busy they are but most of the time it is not an issue. Food price is very reasonable for the portion. Lunch special is a steal here and would definitely recommend.

I come here frequently and the food is truly a bang for your buck! I recommend getting a BBQ entree and a soup, as it can feed 2 people very easily. The service is great, too, and they are generous with the banchan!

my go-to spot for korean food in sugar land! i finally don t have to drive all the way to chinatown or ktown when the craving hits. the first time i came here was over a year ago - there were hardly any patrons and the food was just okay. i decided to give it another try recently and i m so glad i did! the food has gotten much much better and it s always packed when i visit :)

Ive been meaning to post a review of Jang Guem for a while. This is one of my go to spots for lunch during the work week and probably my most frequented restaurant in the Sugar Land area. This place always has a relaxed, affable atmosphere every time I go in. The staff is always polite, friendly, efficient and attentive but will give you space to order and will not interrupt or inconvenience you in any way. Fortunately, Ive been able to try several different dishes here. Every visit always begins with a tray of Banchan, which they will refill if you finish the initial serving. Some of the items you can expect on the banchan tray are kimchi, sukju namul (seasoned bean sprouts), eomuk bokkeum (stir-fried fish cake), oi muchim (spicy cucumber salad), mu saengchae (spicy radish salad), gamja salad (Korean potato salad) and dried seaweed sheets. When Ive eaten here with a group, they have refilled it several times. On the BBQ side of things Ive had the Korean BBQ, Bulgolgi and Samkyupsal (pork belly). All three of these were very flavorful and the portion size was awesome for the price. You will not leave anything less than full and satisfied after eating any one of these. The spicy BBQ chicken is also very tasty and true to its namesake, spicy! Just like I like it. Dont sleep on the Yachaejeon (Vegetable pancake)! This thing is huge and a meal in itself. Golden, crispy, light and delicious! Its hard not to just keep eating this like potato chips. Excellent choice for anyone on a plant based diet. The star of the show here is the tofu soup. I have had several different kinds. My two favorite are the seafood tofu and beef curry tofu soup. Of those two, Im saying it and sticking by this, the beef curry reigns supreme! Feel free to change my mind Jang Guem but as of today, that is my go to lunch every time! Its that good. Shoutout to my friend for recommending it to me. Either way the soup comes with rice and an egg. Its not complete until you crack the egg into the soup. Trust me! You can choose your level of spiciness. I go full spicy!!! If you havent stumbled upon this hidden gem yet, what are you waiting for? Do not drive down Highway 6 again without stopping here. You will be glad you did and you will leave with a full belly!
