Although it is free I recommend leaving a donation in the front office to help with the upkeep and restoration of the big green victorian house youll see next to the office. Make sure to sign in on the sign in sheet at the carriage house I think it was called that. Signing in helps them stay open because the city can see they bring tourism. You can walk around by yourself but if you want to see the inside of any buildings you have to ask the staff at the office; the door was jammed when we went so make sure to knock. The tour guide was friendly and had some funny tidbits of information.

A beautiful place but we went there on a Wednesday at 2:00 in the afternoon and there was no one in the office. We went around to look through the windows of the buildings and wished we could have had a guide or a tour.

We stopped here when we were passing through. We did not wait for a guided tour which meant we would not able to enter the buildings. It was an interesting place to walk around. I recommend stopping if you have a half hour to spare.

The grounds are beautiful, and well kept. We had the pleasure of going for an annual plant sale and there were several vendors. The neatest thing about this place, in my opinion, is the black smithing forge, which they had up and running, to make plant hooks which were being given out for free. This museum is an excellent educational experience for young and old and its saved several local landmarks from going by the wayside. Super fun place!

It felt like a trip back in time. I heard they do events in the summer and they open up some of the buildings, that would have been cool to see. Overall, we enjoyed learning about the first settlers of Stephenville.
