Me and my husband went to this preserve hoping to walk down some of the many trails they claimed to have offered . Every trail we went down ended with us having to turn around and go back because it was blocked and overgrown or there was no longer a light of a path . Luckily me and my husband had the common sense to turn around and go back but many might not do the same and end up lost . The parts that we could explore were nice and we enjoyed them but I wouldn t recommend hiking the other trails unless someone goes out and does some proper remarking of them .

Spring Creek Greenway Nature Center Honestly, this place is a gem! I did not know that this place was less than 15 minutes away from me for the longest time, but Im so happy that I do now. The hours are hard for children that go to school, and but I am looking forward to visiting more during summer break. They have a great little exhibit inside that is great especially because it is free and has AC. If its open at that time that you go hiking, its a great place to rest for a bit. Youre able to look around the exhibit and see all the different amphibians that they have they also have a little reading nook. Its just a great little place to explore. The walking trail is really great and we especially like the walking area around the pond behind the playground. The playground is fun place for the kids to burn off some energy. I wish we had more shaded playgrounds in our area, we really need it, but I am happy that we have this cute little play area and museum nestled in our neck of the woods.

A friend and I drove almost an hour with small children to visit the nature center and upon arrival at 9:45am there was a sign on the door that read, nature center closed for a field trip from 9am-2pm. We were standing at the door discussing what to do (since we had driven so far) and a lady opened the door to tell us that they were closed. It wasn t even an employee. An employee asked a mom from the field tell to tell us there was also no information on any of their social media nor website stating that the center would be closed for that long that day. So the only way you would know is if you show up. Very frustrating.

This place was super awesome, they actually have live animals inside. Cottonmouths, rattlesnakes, copperheads, and some of their lookalike siblings. they even had two baby alligators in there. This place is amazing. I came out to hike the trails and pick up trash. Theres a quite a bit more trash out on the trails than I would have liked. But theyre now clean (or at least cleaner). This is totally destination I suggest for people with kids!

Absolutely loved our visit to Spring Creek Greenway Nature Center! The wildlife exhibit was awesome, featuring a good variety of snakes, reptiles, and birds. The area is incredibly peaceful, with plenty of flower plants and butterflies adding to the natural beauty. There were ample parking spaces available, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this place for a relaxing and educational experience in nature!

We took our 3 yo, she cant read the signs, but can look at the animals in cages (alive) or on display (stuffed). Not much for trail walking other than around the lake. Open grass area for picnic or running around (adjacent to lake). The playground was the least amusing as it is for kids ages 10+ (rope bridges, firemans pole, climbing wall handholds, and a slide that is just two parallel poles at an angle).

Went several times this year. Beautiful educational center with different interactive activities for littles. Lots of reptiles to visit. They have a pair of sweet rehabilitated (?) screech owls . Great place to observe them. They have posters of insects and birds of prey; so if you homeschool its an excellent place to reinforce the study. They have a playground outside for bigger kids. It is not shaded so bring lots of water. Beautiful and clean trails.

I love living so close to a nature preserve. Every time we come here is a treat. The center has live animals you can learn and look at and a few interactive displays. They also added a jungle gym but it s better suited for older kids. Also not far along the trail is a lake which is nice to walk around or fish in.

Nature trails worth visiting again! Went while the building was closed but was still able to do trails. Restrooms were on the side and had a couple water fountains in front. No cost to park or enter trails, not sure for entering the building. Trails were well marked with wooden paths here and there and benches to rest on throughout. Definitely recommend wearing rain boots if rained recently. Some spots the water went above my ankles, but you could walk around in needed. Muscadine vines were all along the trails on the walk back from the river. Had for sure one dry creek bed. Didnt see any types of crystals. There is also a little playground which seemed like would be shaded due to being located underneath the trees. I didnt see a single trash can on the trails, not even near any of the benches or the sitting area next to the pond.

Doesnt look like anything when driving by, plus this place is difficult to spot if youre going the speed. You will more than likely miss your turn. Came across this park by pure accident. This park is huge only had the time to venture out on one trail. Next time I come Ill more than likely get a bike. If your looking for some great scenery for pictures this is the place to be. I was able to get some great images of the many small details of the park during my short time here. I definitely plan on coming back Fishing is allowed here too if you into that.

This was our first time visiting this park. To say it is breathtaking is an understatement. We started our ride at Carter Park, where the archery area is at. We had our dogs with us and kept it to their usual 4 mile. We didn t get to explore the a lot of the area. My takeaways from the visit: Don t use the GPS to get there. My husband did his usual route recon before we left and the GPS directions take you into a subdivision on the other side of the creek. It seems to be cyclist domain. Be careful with the little ones. Most ignore the speed limit signs and breeze by you like your presence there is insignificant to them. It was nice to see some average people just enjoying a morning bike ride. Plenty of shade and resting areas. Mile markers and signs all over. Overall, it was an awesome experience. We will definitively go back.

Our visit to this nature center was really fun! They have interesting reptiles, birds and other stuff like fossils. We were looking around by ourselves, and listening to the staff explaining to another visitor about the aligator snapping turtle was funny. As for the trails, it was nice walking on the wetland trail and there are some bridge like boards to walk on where there are big puddles, but our shoes still got really dirty from some muddy parts (probably from rain), so we wanna come back when the trails are drier. Also, there is Frog Pond (its small almost like a puddle) that is between Bluegill Pond and the nature center, and we spotted a small frog crying there, too.

Bugs like I ve never experienced before!! I enjoy the trails in the area and was excited to check this one out with my husband. We sprayed ourselves heavily with bug spray before walking the trail. About 10 minutes in, We were Swarmed with mosquitoes like I ve never seen before. It was like a cloud around both of us. We even tried adding more bug spray but they were relentless. We turned back immediately. Not the parks fault but We couldn t even enjoy the experience for even 10 minutes. If you go wear pants and long sleeves and drench yourself in bug spray. The view is nice and you want to at least enjoy it.

Great place to walk, jog and run! My second time here and love it. The first time it was hot and humid in Houston BUT being out here with ample shade didnt feel crazy hot. Todays run was a little damp because of recent rains but the trail was still compact and dry because of the tree overhangs. Some patches of water on the trail but not bad. I have waterproof shoes so I was able to run through the shallow spots with no issues. There is a beach trail that we walked last time...it hadnt rained yet, so it was a little lacking visually but Im certain with current and future rains, the view will be much better. The beach area is actually pretty large, lots of soft sand, perfect for dogs and lunges. Lots of birds and squirrels in the preserve, have yet to see any larger animals, and there are snakes here, but Ive been lucky enough to not see those!!

I like the fact that you are with nature in your walking along in a pre path directional map. What a gem! My whole family loved the nature center, complete with bathrooms and water fountains. The play center has toys, puzzles and real animal skins and bones for kids to explore. The living animal exhibits were so cool, and they even opened the cages for us to touch a couple non-venomous snakes. The nature preserve itself is fun to explore. The hike around the pond is the right length for young kids. No paved path for strollers, so bring your carrier or baby backpack.

**ETA- the nature center is OPEN again!! We love what theyve done with the revision of the inside of the building post-Harvey! There are so many critters to see! There is a coloring/reading station, a fun carpet and animals for pretend play, books, puzzles, and interactive screens for learning about nature and future activities! My kids really love going here! My only complaint now is that you have to reserve your spot for upcoming activities through Facebook. Not everyone has(or wants) a Facebook account. We have missed out on participating twice because of this feature. We have sadly decided to stop trying to join the activities. Im more interested in being active outside than being attached to Facebook.** We used to love coming here when we had free family time. The trails are mostly open again, but the Nature Center is not fully remodeled after Hurricane Harvey flooded it. Wear mud-approved shoes if you plan to hike. There are several patches of mud throughout the trails, but they are otherwise dry and pleasant. My kids and I enjoy walking around, and admiring the wildlife. And we LOVE the Little Free Library! The picnic area is a great place to stop for a lunch break. But, dont plan on using the bathrooms- they always seem to be locked. Ill amend my rating once the Nature Center reopens.

Great place to take kiddos to learn a bit about nature and to just get out in nature and off the digital leashes

Great place for everyone and they have things to keep kids interested and learning. Our family had fun during our recent visit coloring pages of local flowers, plants, and animals; as well as talking to the gentleman at the info desk who happened to be extremely intelligent and full of knowledge he was willing to share with us. He knew a lot about mosquitoes and our kids (and us!) were full of questions, but he had a lot of overall knowledge as well about much more than mosquitoes; he had mentioned though how hed studied (and if I recall correctly) helped with some research on mosquitoes. Highly recommend this place!

Awesome park, hidden play place my kiddo loved discovering. We enjoyed the indoor exhibits, and the live friends as well! Will have to come back again soon.
