When I drove past this restaurant earlier this week somehow I knew it would be good. The plate I ordered was the Tempequena. It s a portion of skirt steak served with a cheese enchilada. Beans and rice of course. The steak had a great flavor and the flour tortillas to go with it were amazing. I chose charro beans and they were also tasty. Good pricing and a nice experience overall. I will definitely return.

The building, neighborhood, parking lot, and entry not the best looking part of the restaurant which is why atmosphere has 2 stars. We judged this book by its cover but instead of passing bye we went in and were glad we did. The staff welcomed and seated us immediately. Chips, salsa, and drink orders were there shortly after we sat down. The food was great and very authentic Tex Mex, fantastic! Served hot and fresh! Definitely recommend this place for its great food.

Food was okay, we got San Lorenzo fajitas for 2. None of the meats had flavor, the rice barely had flavor. The charro beans were probably the only good thing and the mango margarita. First time here and would not come again, service was not the best either, we waited a while to put in our order and then our waiter didn t come back and check on us until it was time to pay. The place was not busy at the time we went.

Casa Medina is my favorite Mexican restaurant. The food is superb and the service is just as good! They treat us like we are a part of their family. My favorite dish is a toss up between chicken diablo and Lilianas special with chicken. Shrimp diablo is really good also. Instead of guacamole try the avocado mexicana ( chunky avocado with pico ). If you are coming from the south, take research drive and go the back way through the hotel parking lot.

Came here based on reviews while visiting north Houston area. Service was really good had a lot of people tending to us and keeping our drinks filled and making sure we were taken care of but we found the food to be bland. We started with the Medina queso, my husband ordered crab enchiladas, we had a plate of beef fajitas, and I got a combo plate with chicken enchilada taco del carbon and a flauta. Everything lacked flavor, the meal was fine but nothing to rave about it.

Was staying at the Days Inn and noticed this cool looking little family style Mexican restaurant with a lot of cars the evening in the adjoining parking lot, so I decided to grab lunch for to go the next day. Ordering over the phone with super fast and efficient and myself being an engineer I appreciate that she told me itll be ready in 12 minutes LOL, not 10 minutes or 15 minutes haha. They have a precise operation going there! When I walked in somebody greeted me and asked how many and I said I had to go order and she pointed at a table where there was a to-go order sitting. Okay cool Ill walk over and grab it myself and then walk back up to the front to pay the bill. As I went to pay the bill, the 13 something dollar lunch was $17 something and I was told that was because the sour cream I requested was $1.50. okay whatever. The lady cashing me out was super friendly and telling me thank you for my business and all this and she gave me the receipt to sign they have a tip line and I put zero because Im picking up an order and she made sure to stare the whole time and inspect that I didnt put down a tip and then the fake smile went away and I got the immediate cold shoulder. Always laugh about people who think tips are somehow required for no service. Even though the attitude was subtle it was quite obvious and annoying. I get my lunch back over to the hotel and as you can see in the picture theres about 20 cents worth of sour cream. For a $1.50 that little tiny container should have been filled up! So to start things out, I wasnt actually impressed at all I was kind of irritated by that attitude when paying the bill with the fake smiles and fake happiness and then cold shoulder because you dont put on a tip. So why are the five stars? Omg! I eat Mexican food everywhere on this planet and I have just discovered virtual heaven! That was literally some of the tastiest salsas, tenderest skirt steak, perfect guacamole. Truly outstanding taste-wise and quality wise! Ill be back for more take away, and if I ever have time might check out the bar, but when I sign my receipt for take away, Im going to put extra large zeros on the tip section until the cashier can give a genuine greeting without the irritating innuendo for tips on to go orders. Almost forgot to mention the charro beans which were super excellent as well with bits of pork fat and bacon... might of even been steak bits in there, Im not sure, but it was a hearty soup! I stuffed myself at lunch because it was so good and still had a nice size snack left over for later. So what seemed expensive for a lunch special at first was a good value and with the quality and taste I would say Im going to be stopping by every time Im in the area. Genuinely recommend the food here to the highest order!

After our first visit, if I could physically kick my own butt, I would, for not trying this place 15+ years ago. The food is amazing!! It has that, we made this plate just for you, taste and feel to it. Absolutely nothing, was less than GREAT! The empanads were mind blowing. I will confidently say, they have the best tamales in town. Dont let the out side appearance and location fool you, its a great restaurant with awesome, friendly and attentive staff. Update. Weve been here a few more times and the food is still great. Wait staff, not so much. They will bring food and then go sit by the bar or the table on other side of wall going to bar and not care about customers. And as good as it is, DO NOT order the Acapulco dinner. They brought out the first plate, cheese puff and handful of lettuce and took so long bringing the other plate, I had time to finish my whole plate of food. Could flag down waiter because he was M.I.A. sitting on other side of wall so he cant be seen. This has happened 2 out of the last 3 times weve been here. Also takes about 15 minutes to get your check as well. Since they dont care about customers, we make up 5 or 6 they may never see again.

Both of us ordered off their extensive lunch menu. I went with the succulent and tender beef fajita plate, it came with tortillas, rice and beans, both of us went with refried beans cause our grandbaby loves them.....just like me. My plate came with guacamole, pico de gallo and lots of grilled bell peppers and onions. Prices were very reasonable and the service was exemplary. When were in the area well definitely be back for more of these goodies.

I went to this establishment for dinner on November 30, 2023. While the staff was attentive and friendly, it was the worst example of Mexican food that I have ever eaten. Instead of a carne asada street taco, I received boiled pot roast in a corn tortilla. Even the salsas (green and red) lacked flavor and its very difficult to screw up tomatillo sauce, unless you add water to it, which seemed to be the case. In short, if you are considering stopping here for a meal, do yourself a favor and keep driving. Taco Bell is a short drive away and much more satisfying to the senses and wallet. I will never set foot in this restaurant again.

Update: The house margarita was missing the tequila. I told my server it was missing the tequila and he brought another one. However, they charged me for an additional margarita, an extra $12 plus tax and tip. I told the server I didn t order an extra margarita. He brought over the manager, who has been less than courteous on previous visits. The manager proceeded to gripe me out over the drink and imply that house margaritas don t have the tequila that regular ones do. I told her I would like to pay for our food but not the extra margarita. She was very rude yet still said not to pay for anything and that I was never welcome to return to the restaurant again. Thankfully we had enough cash to pay for the food and tip of what we ordered since the manager refused to bring a correct bill. They do add some msg or other chemicals to the food because it makes me very lethargic for about 3 hours after I eat here every time. I do not experience this lethargy after eating at other restaurants. On a previous visit, this manager told me she was related to the owner. Today she claimed she was the owner. Furthermore, when one walks into the restaurant, one is overwhelmed by the artificial air freshener. Nevertheless, the stuffed beef avocado has been on point every time and the beans a La charra are exceptional. The Gordita is still very good but not nearly as good as it used to be. All in all, the red sauce is mediocre, the green salsa is above average. I would say if you go here, don t bother ordering any alcohol. I ve also ordered the 1800 margarita and it did not have the ingredients the menu claimed. The enchiladas and tacos are underwhelming. It certainly seems this manager is trying to put them out of business. Additionally, the AC system has been broken for several weeks in the Texas heat. I even referred a great AC company to them several weeks ago yet today the AC was still not working.

Purchased a mixed parrillada, the pork they used is definitely spoiled and rotten, for sure have not handled it correctly to serve. I was then accused from the lady that answers the phone of taking it home and doing something to it. What???? First off why would I purchase food to come change it at home. Second that is not how you respond to a customer trying to help you understand YOUR food handling issue! Never did I demand money back, just informing the business in hopes they would do what any other business with integrity would, appreciate my concern and make it right for everyone s safety. The moment the woman insulted me over the phone and accused me of the food issue, rises concerns on if they are following Texas food handling laws. I hope their manager or owner gets with that employee to learn how to deal with these types of complaints. That employee definitely should take care of these complaints if all they do is argue and create out of this world accusations of sabotage.

Well I read reviews that this place was life altering so we tried it. Its next to the Valero on Southbound Service Road from 242 . Service was good and the food was good but not life altering. Wasnt too expensive. Worth a try some will like it and some may not. I am not a fan of the bigger chains Pappacitos, Lupe, Chuys etc. I like smaller places and this fit that bill.

For as long as Ive been in this area, Ive never stopped in here before until tonight. It wasnt crowded when we got there, but filled up pretty quick after we were seated and and had ordered our food. The staff were all very friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. The salsa served with the chips was great.. very fresh tasting, plenty of cilantro and just enough heat to make it good. We got the Fajitas Poblanos for two (mixed), and the serving was more than we could both eat! The beans and rice were good, and the fajitas were good too. The only thing that I would change would be for the meat to be a bit more seasoned. It was tender and cooked just right, but just needed more flavor. All in all, it was a great dining experience and well definitely be going back again to try some other menu items.

As a native Mexican with a lot of years of Mexican cooking and eating, let me say that its easy to spot fake Mexican food or when they take shortcuts. I ordered the enchiladas de mole, this was the only reason I picked this place for dinner since I have been craving a home cooked meal. To my disappointment the beans were extremely hot but the rice was cold and flavorless. The mole had good flavor but the chicken was gamey and old. Now the tortillas the enchiladas were wrapped with its another story on its own. They either warmed up the entire plate (without the rice) on the microwave or they cooked the tortillas on the microwave. When the store bought tortilla is raw or midway cooked it gets hard and starts to breakaway when it gets cold. I couldnt send it back because I was already half way through the plate when this happened. Of course it didnt help that the fans and the ac were on blast when my food came out. I was visiting from out of town and needed to wake up early the next day, if I had known better I would have visited Black Bear Diner instead.
