I first left 5 stars for Los Vega when I moved to San Marcos 5 years ago. I still eat here once a week at least. Everything on the menu is good, prices are good, service is great, and you can always call ahead for pick-up. If youre visiting San Marcos to tube the river, you cant go wrong with a morning brunch at Los Vega. If you live here, then you already know whats up. Theyre also BYOB!

Six tacos $38.00, rubber tortillas, they dont even make their own tortillas,definitely not home cooking, small tacos for the price,for mexican cooks they suck. This place has gone down hill, in san antonio I would not mind paying this amount,you get bigger,fatter tacos. Trust me when a mexican posts bad reviews about mexican food,they are not lying,take my advise and rum for the hills.

I spent 5 days in San Marcos and this restaurant had the best food I ve ever had. My niece that goes to college in San Mo agreed with me too. After reading many reviews and contemplating which place Id grab tacos at this morning I chose Los Vega. They did NOT disappoint! My server was attentive and quick, also kind and respectful. I sat on the patio which was peaceful and perfect this morning and ordered potato and egg breakfast tacos. They came out so quickly I was surprised! The tortillas were fresh and delicious. The egg wasnt too thick on the taco which I liked alot. The ratio of potato and egg was on point. The potatoes were tasty and had a bit of a crunch on them but not in a burnt or undercooked kind of way. The green salsa was BUSSIN! Overall this was a great place to grab QUICK BREAKFAST on the go or if you just wanted to relax and enjoy your meal. Super affordable! Ill DEFINITELY be back!

Just, terrible food. I have no idea why this place is still open, I got a torta and it was mostly bread and a spread of beans, meat that tastes like nothing; the fries were good I guess but thats super simple to make. The enchiladas, I have no idea what kind they are but they looked really weird, bland, thats the word for it. I am hungover right now but whoever rated this place 4 1/2 stars, must still be drinking heavily. Obviously you know nothing of authentic Mexican food, whoever is cooking this food is fond of the microwave, I do not recommend, besides the fact its overly priced, its just not even good.

This a wonderful and quaint little Texmex restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed their breakfast menu on Labor Day 2023. JP ordered the Huevos Rancheros plate with bacon. I ordered the mushroom and spinach omelet plate (my spinach was a little overcooked). We split two pancakes. As you can tell from the pictures, the portion sizes were more than adequate for a hungry person, so be prepared. We hope youll enjoy this small and tucked away little restaurant by Texas State University, San Marcos, TX. The reason I give it four stars is because of my spinach and the bathroom.

We ate at Los Vega for the first time today, and were very happy with our meals. I had the chicken tortilla soup and a crispy beef taco plate. The soup was the best tortilla soup Ive ever had; it had large chunks of tender chicken, flavorful broth, and multiple add-ins on the side. The small serving was the size of a regular soup bowl. I also had a crispy beef taco plate; Id just order the tacos alone next time if I got soup, since the servings were so large. My husband said his combination plate was delicious. We both plan to return to Los Vega due to their tasty home cooking. Wheelchair accessibility: Has wheelchair ramp.

The worst experience we have had, We were there Today 01/22/23 about 2:00 pm, we ordered beef tacos, our little daughters didn t like them, I had stuffy nose due a pretty bad cedar allergy so I didn t taste anything and my husband put on them lot of salsa so we finished and in the middle my husband left the table for a few minutes I tried to eat the beef that my daughters didn t want to realized that smell awful ( I got clear my nose due the salsa) immediately told to the server, she smelled it and told me you re right so I express my concerns about it then she told me that beef is not from the restaurant (???) she asked me for my phone number , also she warned me that she will going to check the cameras (???) so all of that in front of my little girls, of curse I told her, How dare you imply that we brought the spoiled meat and she just repeat me she need my phone number due she won t like to charge anything but need to bring my personal info to the owner (???) First thing I NEVER ASKED HER FOR A DISCOUNT OR NON CHARGE, MY CONCERNS WAS THE RISK TO ATE SPOILED BEEF. I told her that fortunately our little ones didn t ate it and I just asked her to talk with the cook. Anyway when my husband came back, she told him same thing again (???) and we can do anything else due the restaurant was already close so My husband will wait the owner calls him.

So the first thing I want to say is the coffee is very good. Nothing fancy, just plain, black, very good coffee. I ordered the sausage plate. 2 eggs, sausage patties, beans and potatoes with flour tortillas. Everything was pretty good. My eggs were cooked right. The tortillas were obviously homemade. The service was good. They brought my food out really quickly. The only complaint I have is everything was barely warm. I like to put butter on my tortillas and they weren t even warm enough to soften the butter. I had to smash it out on the tortilla. Then I got the check. $13.80 something,almost $14. I got a coconut bar and were up to $16.39. I don t believe in not tipping so add a $3 tip and your talking $20 for cold food is no bueno. Plus the charged me a non-cash fee. I was gonna give them another shot BEFORE I got the check but now I definitely won t be back.

This place was a welcome surprise to our short San Marcos trip! Had a Pork Chop taco and Barbacoa a la mexicana, while my wife had morning enchiladas and a potato taco. If youre in the New Braunfels area and look at Google maps for Mexican restaurants its a shame that they compare this place to Agave, which I love. I spent the night in San Marcos so when it came time to re-new my hunt for the best Huevos Rancheros, I Googled breakfast and found Los Vega, which is about the only was youll find it for its off the beaten trail so to speak. The place didnt look like much when I pulled in. And, there look like great parking just to the right but I saw the sign that said parking in the rear. So I guess what looks like great parking is for another business. There was outside seating in the front of the place and some people that were sitting out there had their dog with them so probably the place is dog friendly but I didnt ask. The sauce on the Huevos Rancheros wasnt my favorite but the bacon just like I like it. It came with beans and country fries. Not sure if it comes with bacon. I didnt look at the menu, I just asked for Huevos Rancheros with bacon. Now that I know where it is Ill probably go back

Dont let the outside fool you. The food is really good, the server was friendly, and the price was cheap. I got the barbacoa plate, and my wife got a couple of breakfast tacos. Everything was better than expected, and we will come back the next time were in town.

Ordering over the phone for takeout was easy. Unfortunately, my husband and I decided it was safer to not eat the bottom pancake because their heat had melted the styrofoam significantly - better to not eat leached chemicals, right? Its a shame because the pancake, egg, and bacon were delicious. Please line the to-go containers for super hot food with foil or parchment paper to prevent direct contact of food to the container (I imagine this probably happens with the French toast and fries or fried foods).
