This is absolutely one of the best Mexican restaurants in San Marcos!!! Family owned and operated, I challenge you to find something on their menu that you dont like! Personally, my favorite dishes are the Garcias Chicken Fried Chicken and their Tortilla Soup.

Comfortable restaurant good for families, groups and solo diners. The wait staff were charming and friendly. I ordered Garcia s queso and the vegetable quesadillas both of which were tasty. The queso had a nice heat but it was a little salty. The vegetable quesadillas were out of this world. I highly recommend them. The table service salsa was not remarkable, but the light crispy chips were great.

They charge $17.83 for 2 a la cart chicken fajita tacos. And the Chicken Sour Cream Enchiladas taste like frozen chicken pot pie gravy not sour cream sauce. You can eat at Chuys and Casa Maria Santis Herberts for cheaper and better tasting. San Marcos has way too much competition to pay these prices

Ive never been to a place that didnt have bell peppers in their fajitas. I asked for bell peppers and they said they couldnt add it unless I got it Norteno style which included,in addition to, bell peppers mushrooms, carrots, zucchini which I didnt want. It clearly states they have bell peppers in their menu but I just left it alone. Instead of pushing the issue I asked for a grilled jalapeño and they told me they only have serano peppers. Secondly, the waitress was okay but lacked in customer service and waitressing. She also forgot to make sure we got silverware so when we asked they gave us plastic ware to cut into steak meat. Third, I asked for a side of hot sauce and they said they couldnt put two bowels on the table because they didnt have enough. This was at 4pm and wasnt busy at all. Looks like they need to invest in more silverware and bowels. Food was decent but nothing to brag about.

I will do a full rating of everything I ate! Chips and salsa- the chips were SO good and the salsa had the best perfect amount of flavor and spice. Chicken cilantro enchilada: it was good. I just didn t really like the really creamy sauce just because I m not used to it, but very good flavor. Sweet tea: good. I think it tasted like dirt. Like the water they used tasted like dirt idk, but it s don t really think that s their fault. Rice and charro beans: the rice was delicious and they beans taste just like the ones my mom makes! (So, amazing) Crispy beef taco: so good and really fresh. The service was really good. We got our food less than 10 minutes after ordering. When it came out that early i was like dang that was fast. Really nice environment and great food. Parking: Good parking when my family was there but it might differ obviously depending on how packed the restaurant is.

We were in town to float the river with some friends and in the mood for some Mexican food. The service was exceptional! We never had an empty glass or bowl of chips. The salsa and queso were delicious and the Garcias chicken fried chicken was phenomenal! I don t usually like rice at Mexican restaurants without mixing salsa into it but this rice was so flavorful and just the right texture. I m just sad I don t live closer so I can visit more often!

I ordered a glass of ice water, poured some water in my 1 year old sippy cups and gave the rest to my 3 year old. A few minutes later the hispanic female, curly hair with glass maybe restaurant manager told us, outside drinks were not allowed. Im just thinking, really... you provided me with the water. We have eaten here a lot since this location opened. I dont know what has changed, but my last order was horrible. It was pure salt. I fought through it because I was hungry, but the next morning my stomach was in knots and I had horrible heartburn from all the sodium. The portions were very small for being dinner portion. The rice was horribly seasoned with some kind of garlic salt. We will NOT be returning.

I don t like the fact that the waitress or waiter brings over a credit card device and stands over your shoulder when having to tip. Feels forced. My waitress did a pretty horrible job when it came to service. I didn t want to leave a tip but she stood over me asking if the promoted tip amount was ok. I went ahead and paid the amount, despite having poor service. Need to have the option to leave a paper receipt to sign and be able to decide what amount if any you d like to tip. Not feel forced to have to leave a tip when they see standing over you watching.

I eat here probably at least once a week. Today was terrible. We ordered 2 waters with lemon and an orange soda easy, right? Nope, got it wrong. Asked for no guacamole...nope the food came with guacamole and was missing ALL THE VEGGIES!! Asked for large and small to go containers...nope just got a large. Also, my son and I have had really bad stomach pains since about 30 minutes after we left. We ate at 1:00.

My husband and I used to love coming here, until it fell under new management. He s active duty military and we normally were able to receive a military discount here as that has always been accepted. Recently, we went to eat here, and we were declined. When we asked to speak to the manager - Our server told us the manager (who s name is Nick) told him, he was not going to come and speak to us, and he was not going to make any exceptions. Even though we ve been coming here for years. Very disappointed in the atmosphere And service that we had received. It s very unfortunate to lose customers, especially when we have been spending our hard earned money here for years. We will now be eating at another Garcia s from now on! We do not recommend this one.

I really thought I would ve got a real tasty meal here not only that a slightly bigger portion of rice n refried beans.. Anyway the refried beans and rice was really good, but the pork chop was very bland.. The sauce was on point !!!! Not worth $16.84. Maybe I ll try again but not the same dish. This was a a pick up order so I did not rate the atmosphere, but my food was definitely ready once I got there.

Very bad service, 0 stars for all categories. Worst restaurant and customer service. I ordered the migas breakfast and was brought a plate with soggy corn tortillas. I asked the waitress if they could fix my plate with fried corn tortillas, and she said sure. My husband was done with his plate by the time my plate was brought back out. I guessing it was the manager, who then proceeded to argue with me about how they make their migas! Super sloppy and unprofessional! Never again!
