This is a wonderful local Italian place and I highly recommend it! Great atmosphere, excellent food, affordable prices. The only bad part is parking is hard to come by, but definitely worth it! I would drive out of my way to eat here.

Italian Garden in San Marcos, TX, was a delightful find recommended by my hotel staff. From the moment I arrived, it had the vibe of a cozy, family-run Italian spot red and white checkered tablecloths, and fresh oil for dipping your bread, really set the scene. They started me off with an order of garlic bread knots that were light, airy, and delicious. I followed that with a huge house salad, but it was so large I could only manage half. For the main course, I chose the Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken, which arrived creamy, packed with tender chicken, and piping hot. The flavor was excellent, and the pasta was cooked perfectly, though I could only eat half because of the generous portion. Sadly, I missed out on the last serving of tiramisu, but the Black Forest cheesecake I had instead was just as good as the rest of the meal. The real highlight, though, was the waitress, who made the experience even better with her fun and conversational service. With the salad, main meal, dessert, and drink, the total came to just $26 before tip very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. If you re in San Marcos, TX, I d highly recommend checking out this local gem.

A great experience! Food was really good for textalian. The vibe in the restaurant was great. I have to say this is a shame that this restaurant cant get their fettuccine I Alfredo w Chicken right. For instance Ive ordered this dish 3 times , only once was it in my opinion very good. Almost always its drowned in Alfredo sauce , way too much Alfredo, the entire dish is swimming in Alfredo. The Alfredo is also kind of bland , it is lacking a bit of salt or parmesian cheese or parsely or something I cant put my finger on it but its Def lacking something, its not salty enough to compliment the cream . Also the chicken in my opinion is always either not cooked enough or over cooked and kinda of tough to eat . The biggest pet peave of all is the fettuccine, whoever is in that kitchen needs to understand the elements of good Italian food, pasta is a major part of that cuisine , the pasta needs to be firm , Al dente , its always over cooked and turning into a ball of starch by the time I get home and eat that dish . It is so irritating to be such a cool little mom and pop but whoever they have cooking needs to get some more training in my opinion. Needs to not forget the basic principles of good Italian cuisine . Bland Alfredo, over cooked noodles , drowning food in sauce , 3 big NO NO s. Other than that its a cute quaint local restaurant.. ....

We had a very bad experience at this restaurant. We made reservations a few months prior to our event. We even called a week before to confirm , they told me that everything was find. The day of the event, called again and they told me that they did not have a reservation for me or they did but it was for only 8 people. When I had 25 people in my party. I told it s fine I will go somewhere else. Not even a few minutes later they called me to tell me that they will set up some table in side the restaurant to accommodate us so we said yes. Big mistake, when we got there we got sited outside. It is very hot in the summer in San Marcos. When I went to talk to the manager he did not even apologize or nothing, he just said that this reservation should have never happened. They had three months to call me to let me know about this. They did not offer anything. never again!!! I do not recommend this place!!!

I was there at that restaurant. It was our first time there we were treated very badly. We sat at the table for 20 minutes, not even got a drink or nothing but two other people walked in. They got bread they got their drinks. What was the difference for them to serve on us? I don t like the way I was treated is it because of our skin well, whatever the case may be do not go to this restaurant because the service is very poor. They leave you in the corner and they don t do nothing about it. Bad for a restaurant never been to this.

We had an amazing graduation dinner for 36. Kevin was our waiter and he was AMAZING!!! I left him a long to do list for set up and he nailed it. The food was great. Ive been a few times, and each time the Food was really good, the angel hair alfredo is amazing, and the eggplant rollatini is solid too. Service was a little slow at first but the food came out pretty quick. The place gets packed, but the wait was only 15 minutes or so.

Im wondering if we caught these folks on an off day as the place looks as if it has some potential. It got busy really quick even though it was only 2pm. I think some the staff might have been tired but they managed. The Carbonara and the Lasagna were good. The eggplant did not hit the mark. If you are a dedicated vegetarian it might be fine. There is just enough parking for this place. If you are looking for it for the first time your going to want to know exactly where it will be. If you are on campus, the location is a short walk. We will consider hitting this place up again in the evening hours to see what we really have here.

We loved this restaurant. Excellent place for family lunch. We enjoyed all of our entrées. Chicken Parm, chicken portofino, meatball sub & chicken piccata. Portions & prices were great. They started us with yummy bread knots w/oil & spices for dipping. Staff was friendly & inviting. We didnt have room for dessert but Im sure it would have been excellent. My daughter really loved the FRESH crisp honemade bread of her meatball sub. My favorite was the piccata minus capers. We plan to come again when we visit San Marcos. Many great choices on the menu. First time to visit Italian Garden. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We were very impressed with the food and service. We couldnt make it. The place was crowded because of Fathers Day. We were tripping from Houston. We wanted to visit the restaurant and found a line of dozen people waiting to be seated. One of them, tripping from Austin was complaining about having a reservation that the restaurant didnt know about. Since we wanted to hit the road early we ended going to a close pizzeria called Sylvias. We are looking forward to come back to San Marcos and visiting Italian Garden to give them a well deserved review. Thanks.

My wife and I recently dined here for dinner for the first time. The service was fast and efficient from ordering from the server to the servers delivery of the meals. The rolls with the herbal dipping oil were great; warm and chewy. We ordered the Crab Cakes as an appetizer. We were disappointed in them. They were deep fried, a little oily, and tasteless. I had the Fettuccine Alfredo with Sausage, Garlic and Onions. The sausage had a nice flavor, and overall this was an OK entree. My wife had the Chicken Spinach Cannelloni and was not overly impressed. The prices here are very reasonable. The atmosphere is lacking; pretty much a sit down, eat, and leave type of place. We were not impressed and doubt that we will return.

On 5/2 we ordered and they messed it up pretty badly. An entire lasagna was forgotten and the fettuccini alfredo made my wife throw up (the other food was edible but bland - Id dodge this restaurant if you prefer not getting food poisoning). Also, Ive had real Italian food having visited and eaten it in big cities in the northeast and this in comparison was simply underwhelming. I dont know how they have such a high star rating. The portions were decently sized but the quality was poor.

This has become one of my favorite places to come to eat. The only issue I have is the times Ive come in after 1:30 or 2:00 the service is not very good. Im sure this is a direct result of that scheduling. Perhaps two servers should be left on until at least 2:30 or 3:00. Weve been to Italian Garden three times. The first two were great experiences. Yesterday, was the first time since Rona. It was not so great... They screwed up the order a few different ways, which to their credit we either benefitted from or they comped. However, the overall quality was significantly below what we remember. The only highpoints were the salads and a kids pizza. Everything else lacked color and appeared to come from a can.

Nothing will come with your entre except some cheap half baked doughy rolls that are just nasty! You pay good prices for food in restaurants now, but nothing extra is included anymore. Not even a little small salad. I asked if the rolls could be toasted a bit more to dry them out a bit, and was given some false hope that she would see if she could find any like that! Lol. Well they never came. I asked who I believe to be a manager the same thing, given a disinterested answer, and again, they never came. The chicken piccata I had was pretty bland and tasteless also. The place had a bad smell as well, no doubt due to the nasty old wall to wall carpet, which is not a good choice for a restaurant. I would pass this place up if I were you. I would never return.

Classic local Italian eatery. Genuinely fantastic. Food and service were both great. The spaghetti was cooked perfectly and the meat sauce was delicious. Their italian sausage was some of the best Ive ever had. Bread rolls were delicious as well. I think the meatballs and calamari were a bit plain, but they were still okay. And Im going to say: The cannoli was one of the best Ive ever had. Crispy shell, perfectly sweet cream inside. So many places mess that up, but these guys clearly know what theyre doing.

My daughter and I visited Italian Garden for the first time yesterday. We wanted pasta and they delivered! We enjoyed the bread and oils and calamari as appetizers. The calamari was cooked perfectly and the marinara was warm and delicious. For our entrees, we had the trio cannelloni and the tortellini. Both were large portions and quite delicious. Food is great! We had an issue with service. We were a party of 7. First, we were seated around a corner and the host forgot to give notice to the waiter. I had to go and fetch somebody to give us service. Second, even though we were served the food we ordered in a timely fashion and the food was very good, our server kept forgetting to come by us and see if we needed anything (drinks or anything else). I ordered a drink refill and had to ask for it a second time. Overall, the place is very good. Food is well prepared and very tasty. Will certainly go back some other time. This is what I would describe a a little hole in the wall restaurant. It isnt incredibly fancy but the food is fantastic and extremely reasonably priced. I have not been here when I didnt leaved stuffed and took left overs home too. The rolls and the olive oil with spices are so good its hard to stop eating. If you are traveling to the Outles of San Marcos Tx, I recommend this Italian restaurant, it is located about 12 km next to the University of San Antonio in San Marcos. The service they gave us was first class, our waitress was very pleasant and attentive. The food was very good, especially the creamy chicken and the tour of Italy. This last dish can be shared with another person since there is enough. The cost of the dishes is very good considering the place and type of food, 15 USD per person on average, including drinks.

I have nothing to regret about this place. Its just special. Small and cozy place to enjoy the great ambience and spend a great time to talk to with your couple or small group of friends. The food, its just perfect. We loved the taste of the pizza and the lasagna. The portion is good enough and get ready full your stomach. Price is fair because the place and food worth it, its not to expensive. Plenty of parking and well located. Of course well be there again and enjoy a bottle of wine, we didnt know before arriving but you can bring your own bottle! Thats great.

Worst service Ive ever received. Our waitress was throwing a fit Im the kitchen and just left, then no one came to tell us whats going on finally after Like 20 minutes someone came but only after our plates were empty. Then we were left again waiting for change and my husband after 10 minutes had to go into the kitchen and find her to tell her we paid exact change and we are leaving she then said she forgot she was serving. Like I said service was horrible

The food was delicious and our server was so nice! Definitely try their pink sauce! I got a massive portion of food for just under $12 with fresh rolls. The homemade pasta is what puts it over the top. Kid-friendliness: I d say this is absolutely kid friendly restaurant.

Me and my wife have been patronizing at this establishment for years. I have noticed that in the past few times that I have ordered the Eggplant Parmesan dish. Needless to say I will not be ordering this dish anymore? Reason I like my eggplant with a crispy crust. Seems that this restaurant is no longer serving this dish like this but instead a soggy crusted eggplant that is just a terrible mess alot of the eggplant is missing crust and the sauce is not too saucy but on the thicker side. Well good news when I need to order this dish I will head on down the road to Kyle TX. and get my dish there. Oh by the way Italian Garden does have a very good Cheese Pizza.

This place is amazing!! Food is spectacular! My boyfriend and I come here often, it is our go to Italian place! This is my favorite Italian place, the welcoming, elegant, quite, environment, amazing service and freshly inexpensive made food is what keeps me coming back. We dined at 10 pm on a Saturday night and got incredible food & service. There was a 30 minute wait, so I knew it had to be a good restaurant. I wish I could remember our servers name. He was new...a young guy. He suggested some really good entrees & desserts. GREAT server. I had the linguini w/ white clam sauce and requested heavy garlic...it was AWESOME. My wife got the canneloni w/ the PINK sauce (alfredo AND marinara) SO good...the tiramisu was perfect. Its also BYOB so Ill remember that NEXT time. I highly recommend this place

Came to visit my son and we stopped here to eat because he loves Italian. It was a 40-minute wait, though we did have a party of nine. Are waitress was decently friendly. She seemed to warm up the longer we were there. One thing I didnt like about this place is that the restrooms are outside the building in the back and people kind of come in and out the back. I did have a concern for the waitresses because their purses are right there on a shelf next to that door that leads to the back alley to go to that bathroom. Another thing I didnt like is that there was somebody who brought their cat in there and a backpack, and our waitress was petting that cat, though she did wash her hands several times before she went back to the kitchen. There was a guy later there I saw filling up cups of ice and at one point he grabbed a piece of ice or something from the part that catches, and picked it up with his hand and threw it in the customers cup. So just some things that I wouldnt have wanted for myself. I did appreciate the girl washing her hands with soap several times. As far as the food goes, I thought it was just okay. My kids liked their barbecue pizza. I had the chicken parm, and it was just okay. My mom had the spinach pasta or something, and she loved it. The role is and everything else, just okay to me. Fleming about this restaurant is they dont upcharge you for having a larger party, though they only have one area, that I saw, to accommodate larger parties. It is a fairly small restaurant. Am I consider going back, again our waitress was very clean, and decently friendly. Another thing I didnt like was how cold it was and the restaurant. Literally blowing cold air on our table, we all had to grab our jackets at that point, and were still cold. I do realize its a restaurant and it gets hot, it was just at the point that it made us leave earlier than we probably would have. Parking: Small lot that shared with Chipotle and maybe another spot. Hard to find parking, and theres a truck decides to park in there, very hard to get out of your spot, because they clearly dont care.

We ordered 1/2 sausage, ground beef, pepperoni, Canadian bacon pizza and the other half with grilled chicken and eggplant. So good!! The eggplant is very lightly breaded. No oil running down your arm here which I appreciate. Chicken and eggplant are excellent quality. He is very happy with his meat pizza. Crust not too thin or too thick and it s fresh. We got one side salad and one spinach salad (saved some for the pizza which I like raw). I really like their red wine vinaigrette. He likes the tomato house vinaigrette. Every waiter we ve had when dining in has been friendly and very good. The order takers and front desk folks could use some lessons in customer service. Their garlic knots are so yummy and they are usually fresh. They used to have chopped garlic and butter or oil on top. Now they have powdered garlic and butter/oil on top. REALLY MISS THE CHOPPED GARLIC ON TOP OF THE KNOTS!! The prices are so very reasonable and the pizza is so much better than the chain stores. Not sure how they manage that. I m sure the college students appreciate it. It s almost always busy.

We have had the pleasure of going to this restaurant for more than 20 years. There have been great visits and not so great visits. Unfortunately, today was a terrible visit. I ordered over the phone and I was told it would be 25 minutes. After 35 minutes I just kept getting told I dont know when your food will be out...no, there is no manager.... no you should not ask the cook, he might throw something at you... hes in a bad mood, etc. By 55 minutes, I was quite cranky, I had kids waiting in the car and the hostess told a to go customer it is running a little slow, at which time I informed him that I had ordered my food 55 minutes earlier. I was then told I was being a problem and needed to leave unless I could be patient. I was trying to be kind, but there is no denying I was unhappy. They finally brought me my food, a small pizza instead of a large one, but said they refunded me. Hopefully this is true. Terribly disappointed. All they had to do at any point in time is say, it may be another 20-30 minutes, what would you like to do. But instead they just kept saying I dont know and there is nothing we can do.

Our waiter was awesome and apologetic for the wait waiting until he was able to get to us to get our drink order and then waiting on our food as others that sat after us were getting their food before us. My husband ordered tortellini and he really liked the Alfredo sauce which saved the experience and, the waiter s attitude. I ordered lasagna and I kid you not, there were four small cut strips of pasta in it swimming in a sea of meat sauce and cheese. It looked like a bowl of sauce and cheese before my fork touched it. The 4 pasta strips found wouldn t even make up the size of one lasagna noodle put together. I dissected it thoroughly to make sure I wasn t missing something before saying anything. The waiter graciously took it back agreeing the lasagna is not good. He brought me chicken tetrazzini which definitely had pasta in it. It seems they have some decent dishes that people were enjoying around us, but someone there needs to learn what lasagna is, starting with what a complete lasagna noodle looks like It was pathetic ordering a traditional Italian dish where adding pasta was an afterthought. It felt like the thinking was, if we put enough red sauce, meat, and cheese, the lack of layers of pasta will not be noticed. Disappointing.

My chicken picatta was very good, but my chicken had some fat I wouldve preferred to be removed prior to cooking. My husband loved his grilled chicken with spinach, artichokes and pine nuts. It server was upbeat and attentive. This was our first visit and we will definitely be returning!
