I judge all new coffee shops by their cafe mocha, and this was one of the best Ive had! I also got a taco and the seasonal iced pumpkin Chai. Its on the sweet side but so good. Service and atmosphere was lovely, parking was easy, and its great coffee!

Tried a Lamba latte, 1/2 sweet. It looked and tasted like a glass of sweet milk. I dont know if its supposed to be completely white? Or did they forget to add espresso? The baristas are nice but have no sense of urgency. Also will serve walk up window before clients waiting in the lobby for longer. Its a cute spot and I wouldnt leave a negative review except the terrible latte was the nail in the coffin.

Their large size is a medium in any coffee shop. At nearly $7 for a medium iced mocha, its hard to give 5 stars. But I will anyway. I will always support small business and my iced mocha was really really good both times I went. Ill be back.

This was such a cozy environment to have coffee! We were visiting a family member and we all met up there and there was plenty of seating and was comfortable even for my 7 month old baby to sit down and be happy. The coffee was very delicious although I will say their Lamba coffee was just a bit too sweet for me. Overall it was a great experience

Went in for coffee and breakfast and had to wait 20 minutes for the only thing they did have available, a bagel with almond butter on it. I was visiting San Marcos this past weekend and wanted to try something different so we stopped in at Lamppost coffee and let me tell you it was the best decision ever. The atmosphere was amazing. It was so cozy and quaint. The staff was so helpful and friendly. I had their signature latte which was recommended and it did not disappoint. It was so flavorful. It was to go and I nearly finished it before I left. My boyfriend got an americano and it was also a hit. I will be back next time I am in San Marcos.

Went there today for a cappuccino to celebrate the fact that my early-onset high blood pressure is now under control and I m OK to drink coffee again, and, oh my, was it good! So velvety, so smooth, not a trace of acidity or over-roasted beans, beautifully made the stuff dreams are made of! I always love coming here; the staff is fantastic and really sets the place apart. Cassie, Ashlyn, and Lily are always making sure everything is perfect with my order. Coffee is AMAZING (I got my coworkers hooked on it!) and every food item Ive ordered has tasted great. I love coming here before work, on my off-days, or just to bring friends because theres really nowhere else that can compete! Thank you to everyone on the whole staff! Parking: Plenty of spots, street parking is convenient but can be a bit awkward when the road is busy. Fortunately there is a lot right next door as well which is perfect for busy times. Smooth lots and roads which is perfect for those of us like myself who dont have cars with lots of ground clearance! Kid-friendliness: Lots of kids have been present multiple times; theres plenty of space and staff is great with making sure theyre taken care of, as well as their parents.

I wasn t planning on going here during my trip to san Marcos but clicking on it I immedietly was drawn by how beautiful the food looked! I needed to know if it was just as good. And it was! I got the blueberry toast with cheese, avocado toast, and matcha latter and I loved every one of them! (I got them all for $20) The blueberry toast was a little tricky to eat as the blueberries kept falling off so I made a little fool of myself trying to eat it- I recomend asking for a spoon! In the shop there s a little bookshelf with so many great books and board games that makes you just want to stay there all day. the staff are also very friendly and patient! Vegetarian options: A lot of vegetarian option. Parking: You have to parallel park.

This place is awesome! Great view to work, great lighting, great decor/comfortable seating, great coffee, great food. Their coffee is roasted on the lighter side and has a really nice floral notes. Stayed here working for like 5 hours on my way through San Marcos and would definitely be a regular if it were closer to where I live. The barista was cool too and the vibes were just awesome. Writing this review as I am still waiting over 45 mins for one drink. Came in and it wasn t even that busy, problem is they have one girl working the front, making drinks and taking orders. She is clearly overwhelmed and they need to hire another employee. I will not be returning simply because waiting this long for a drink is insane. I waited over 20 mins in line just to wait another 25 min for the drink. She was a bit slow at making them and add onto the fact that she s the only person, you ll get a recipe for an unpleasant experience, unfortunately. I hope the owners go onto the cameras for this time stamp to see how clearly unacceptable this is. I am still waiting as I type and wish I could cancel the order. Save your time, go somewhere else!

Its crazy that a place can sell such an amazing, carefully crafted product (superb coffee from straight espresso to delicious sweet treats) and thats not even the best thing about it. This is the closest thing to a real life Cheers that I have experienced in my life. Customers are frequently greeted by name, regular drinks prepared before they are ordered, follow-up questions asked from last weeks visit. In my years in San Marcos, I have never known a coffee shop so welcoming, so pleasant, and so adored as Lamppost Coffee. After coming to Lamppost regularly for over a year, I can firmly say that my standard for coffee shops has been raised to an unfair height, but I am content to have a singular place that can appease me, on the corner of Stagecoach and Key. The baristas are the best part of Lamppost Coffee. If I were a silly goofy person, I might call them bari-stars or cool coffee cats but that is corny and lame, so I won t... The baristars are very good at giving customers time and space to decide on the right drink. Other establishments might make you feel rushed to order something you don t want and the baristas can t help because they can t articulate the menu. Lamppost shines above them all because everyone on staff knows the menu and cares enough about the drinks to put them in the hands of someone who wants them. They make suggestions, offer adjustments, and ask thoughtful questions to get to the root of your desire and honor it. Where others couldn t be bothered, they go above and beyond. Outside of making your drink, they take the time to get to know you. If you spend a morning inside, you ll hear a dozen patrons greeted by name, their drinks memorized, and every single one of them is delighted to be there. The baristas will pull shots, steam milk, and make the best latte you ve ever had, all the while, they re following up on what you talked about last time you saw them, with no superficiality. That s why you find so many people returning to San Marcos Lamppost again and again. It often feels as though people are not waiting for their turn to order, but waiting patiently for their turn to talk to the friendly face behind the counter. This I know from experience as I ve been guilty of holding up a line once or twice getting swept up in good conversion. Thanks to the same fine fellows that make the drinks, much of the storefront has improved since the summer I first saw it. The lion image that unifies all the Lamppost locations has been elegantly painted onto the wall, giving the lobby a much needed focal point and depth. Other new additions include dark painted walls behind the menu, hexagons coloring the bar, and major improvements on furniture and art placements. Between the decor and the surprisingly well-kept plants, the store has been given direction, sturdiness, and a sense that someone really cares about the place. It is not a vacant, whitewashed, shell getting its grounding. The San Marcos Lamppost location feels established and warm. As I sit here, December barely getting its foot in the door, I m astounded at the level of holiday cheer created and how much effort went into its execution. How easy it would be to take in the magic, the seamlessly interwoven festivity, and forget that someone got on a chair and tiptoed precariously to make it happen. Inside and out, it feels like the end of a Hallmark Christmas movie, but lucky for us all, you don t need to be a C List actor to enjoy its charm. No matter how you slice it, it s obvious the San Marcos Lamppost location is special. Distant from the other locations, it would be easy to assume it would be the neglected little sister to the original iterations, yet it has been thriving and developed its own character fully independently. Thanks to expert management and a whip-smart team behind the bar, the San Marcos bunch has turned the humdrum shop it once was, into a charming, lovable destination. Ashlyn, Lilly, Zuzu, Christian, and Hannah have made Lamppost a wonderful spot, whose delightful attributes I am quickly running out of synonyms for. It s a great place to start your day, a great place to bring your family, and the best place to be a regular. Both the storefront and the customers benefit substantially from the effort, care, and attention paid by the truly amazing staff. It is a splendid place overall and I cannot recommend it enough.

Last time I went, I ordered their special that day which was something mocha chai. It was good and I really enjoyed it. Hannah came up when they d slowed down and gave me a post it note for a free drink because they d given me a normal chai on accident. I wouldn t have noticed or said anything, but I appreciated her going out of the way to fix an unknown mistake!! I got a free drink today with the coupon. Went with a buddy of mine for my very First time, definitely one of if not the best coffee shops Ive been to. The coffee is very delicious, the atmosphere is not too flashy and as a College student, its definitely a place where I can study in peace. No loud music like other shops which was my biggest gripe of them. The baristas are very polite as well. This place just fits for me. Sucks that its one of the few good shops out there and sadly I live in San Antonio but definitely stopping by every time I come to San Marcos with my friend again.

I couldnt imagine a more welcoming and enjoyable coffeeshop. I live around the corner, and its become a morning routine to walk here, get my latte, and just enjoy the atmosphere. All of the baristas are friendly, professional, and make a good chai tea latte. 10 outta 10

Baristas are THE BEST. They are truly wonderful people, and they genuinely care about coffee and the people that visit their shop. Shadowed by them is their coffee, which is no dwarf. Best coffee in town. 10 out of 5 stars. You wont be going anywhere else.

I love this place! I m an avid vanilla iced latte drinker, and lamppost coffee has one of the best I ve had in San Marcos. It might honestly be my favorite. The coffee tasted so good, and the sweetness wasn t overpowering or not enough, it was a perfect level of sweet. Definitely check this place out, I got the iced vanilla latte with oat milk and it was heavenly!

Perfect timing for a new specialty coffee shop! I appreciated the comfy outdoor seating. Saw a few college kids, some people doing remote work, couples, pretty much every type of person while I was there! I personally got a cappuccino with their featured Ethiopian roast and it was SO GOOD. Silky smooth, slightly fruity, it was the perfect pick me up. I think they always have a house and a feature so be sure and ask to try new things! Baristas were super nice and helpful! The place was clean, put together, and convenient coming right off of 35 or from downtown. 10/10 would recommend, Ill be back. My favorite new coffee shop in San Marcos hands down!
