My husband was a big fan of the protein bowl. I got the beet salad, which had no beets. When I asked, they said they forgot them, brought me a plate of white/pink beets that looked unappealing. Location, service, and price were good. Food : 4/5

I just experienced what can only be described as a culinary masterpiece nay, a transcendental journey in the form of braised short rib with broccoli. From the first bite, I was transported to a realm where flavor reigns supreme and every morsel is an ode to pure gastronomic perfection. The short rib? Oh, it was more than tender it was melt-in-your-mouth magic, bathed in a rich, savory sauce that seemed to have been simmered by the gods themselves. Every forkful felt like a whisper of decadence, slow-cooked to such tenderness that it fell apart with the lightest touch. The depth of flavor was so profound, it could have composed symphonies each note a glorious harmony of spice, wine, and earthy undertones. And let s not forget the broccoli, often the underdog of any plate, which here was nothing short of a revelation. Crisp-tender, with a vibrant green hue that screamed freshness, it provided the perfect counterpoint to the richness of the short rib. Lightly seasoned yet robust in its simplicity, it was the hero sidekick no one saw coming. All of this was set against the backdrop of the Riverwalk a setting so serene and picturesque that it was as if I had stepped into a postcard. With the gentle sounds of the river flowing by and the warm San Antonio air wrapping around me like a cozy blanket, this meal was not just dinner it was an experience.

You don t have to search for very long to find a place for food and drink on San Antonio s famed Riverwalk. Food and drink are just steps away and if you re looking for a satisfying American meal or a cocktail, wine, or beer, then a good option is The River s Edge Café and Patio Bar. This establishment is located on the Riverwalk, underneath the Hilton Palacio Del Rio hotel, so it s very convenient to anyone staying in this specific hotel. It has an indoor section that is larger than I expected, plus an outdoor section. I chose the outdoor because I wanted to be near the Riverwalk and people- watch as I dined. But it s nice to know that such a large interior exists for those days/nights with outdoor dining is less than friendly. River s Edge Café and Patio Bar serves American food like soups, salads, sandwiches, etc plus enchiladas, grilled plates, and a few other items. There is a brunch and breakfast menu, too, available during specified times of the day. The food is good overall, even if nothing to rave about, and I like the extensive drink menu. They have specialty cocktails, wine, and a decent selection of beer. I would prefer to have more beer options, especially some craft beer options brewed in the San Antoinio area, but they didn t have any. Still, I was satisfied enough with the choices I was given. I found my dinner enjoyable overall. The only real issue I can think of was the fact that it took the wait staff a little longer than usual to check back on our table. Had they been more attentive there is a good chance we would have ordered another round of drinks. But other than that, I liked my food, drink, and view enough to give the River s Edge Café and Patio Bar a recommendation overall.

Fantastic food and service. We went for Saturday Brunch and got a seat immediately. Kid-friendliness: A lot of restaurants will bring the kids food out piping hot and on hot plates as well. Rivers Edge didnt do that. My kids (1 & 4) were able to eat their food immediately.

Here is less crowded than some other restaurant areas where you can sit outside. And if you sit outside to the right of this place you can hear the piano man next door depending on the day and time which is amazing. However, the reason I am going into my phone and writing a review is because last year and this year (2024) me and my family came here and our socks have been knocked off with the deliciousness of this food. Whoever has been cooking here needs to be known and experienced by EVERYONE! Also the cook is to share this goodness with the world!

When we arrived and walked to the front to be sat we were met by two employees. They both stared at us until we said we needed a table. They grabbed menus - saying nothing else. Walked us to a table and left us there with out saying anything else. I wasnt too bothered by that - just accepted it for what it was. It was early. Our server helped us to our drink order. It took over 10 minutes to get mine and our daughters drinks. My Orange juice was warm and my Ice completely melted. It took another 10 minutes to get my husbands sweet tea which was also watered down and unsweet. The waitress vanished for another while then reappeared to take our order. We placed our order and waited another 20. We finally were so annoyed we asked to pay the drinks and leave. For 3 drinks we payed 10 dollars....

Cassandra was my server. She was friendly and helpful, answering questions about the area. The food was excellent! Being from Tucson and regularly eating Mexican food, Im hesitant to order it elsewhere. These chicken envhiladas were excellent.

Multiple guest had received text informing them their table was ready after long waits. The waiter kept saying you have to be present to be seated which is very confusing because all the families being mistreated were talking to him. I m not sure what his definition of present is. We decided to have brunch here while visiting San Antonio. Upon getting to waiting area to get seated, the host was there and did not acknowledged us and just walked off. A few minutes later she came back and checked us in. It was about a 30 minute wait to get seated. We decided to have outdoor seating, the outside area was not clean. The table and menus weren t clean as they were sticky and smeared. The brunch menu is limited as it is different from the weekend, no exceptions were made. Our food took about 20 minutes to come out. The food was decent, a a bit overpriced I would say. In general it was an okay experience eating here, the view and ambiance at the river walk made it somewhat worth it.

The Rivers Edge Cafe is essentially a Tex Mex eatery with nothing out of the ordinary. Good outdoor seating with plenty of fans and a reasonable indoor space with well separated tables. We had Poke Bowls and the cheeseburgers and they were very respectable. The Poke Bowls were great hits with our vegetarians. No desserts so we can t comment there. Its location is very good about center of the loop. Service was very good and prices were reasonable for the River Walk. Overall we give it three and one half clams on the coveted Five Quahog Rating Scale ( that s four stars on Google scale.

We went to the River s Edge Cafe based on great reviews. We were somewhat disappointed because of service. We were seated on the outdoor patio which was lovely. The next four tables of customers seated after us, were served food before us. They did bring food to us at one time but it was not our food. My eggs were runny when ordered over medium. My side potatoes came out five to ten minutes after my eggs with small sausage links and dry toast. No butter or jelly on the table. The ketchup bottle we asked for was almost empty. Lots of shaking the bottle. Lol. Tiny mimosa and tiny bloody mary. No coffee offered. The waiter never came back to see how things were or if we wanted another beverage after the potatoes finally came. My husband did enjoy his Mexican Hash and shared a bite or two with me and I agreed, a better choice and very tasty. The standard EGGS of your choice selection was something I told my husband they can t screw up but they did. The people watching from our table was great, but only because we asked to sit at the tables that were empty near the sidewalk, and waited patiently for the table to be bused. Don t be afraid to ask for a table to be cleared while you wait if available on the walkway. It was what made the dining experience more enjoyable. I would try another place for breakfast and hope for better service. The prices for the meals were very reasonable however the drinks were too small for the beverage prices. I liked my mimosa but could have it larger. My husbands bloody mary was spicy how he liked it but too small. This review may sound like I am a complainer, but I was expecting a really good meal and great service because this place came as one of the best River Walk breakfasts.

We came for breakfast because Google and restaurants own website said they offered gluten free options on the menu. Having explained to the server that one of our party has cealiac disease they still delivered the breakfast with regular toast on top of the food and a side order of gluten free toast. This is of course a significant cross contamination and could have made my husband very ill, maybe even hospitalised him. This place certainly isnt gluten free friendly. Far from it. Dietary restrictions: Not Gluten-free friendly, the staff do not understand about cross contamination.

We will not come back! The food was nothing out of the ordinary, the service was basically non-existent and it was uncomfortably cold inside the restaurant. We stayed at the Hilton (which was a very nice stay) and went to the Rivers Edge Cafe for a late lunch after our arrival on Saturday. Had to repeat our drink order 4 times and the server was not able to understand the word beer after asking my husband what he would like to drink. At 8 am this morning, we went back there to have breakfast because it was conveniently attached to the Hilton. Inside, there were 2 tables occupied and 1 table on the patio, so it wasnt very busy. Since it was so cold inside, we opted for outside seating. The hostess took her time deciding which of all the remaining open tables she will put us on. She handed us menus and left. We waited for a server to offer some water or coffee but nobody showed up, other than the hostess again to wipe an empty table top across from us - but no acknowledgement or anything towards us. There were plenty servers inside but nobody seemed to care that there were guests outside waiting to be served. A full 6 minutes went by and we finally had enough. We got up and left. It kind of ruined my morning and we certainly wont go back next time we are in San Antonio again.

For my side, I got a delicious mixed green salad with raspberry vinaigrette. I loved the dressing so much I started googling how to make it I need to find the recipe.

What a terrible turnaround of service. We got seated and the waiter in charge of our area passed us dozens of times without a word, but nice to see he helped out the white family next to us with no problem from getting their order and giving them their food. What a generic response from the hostess your server will be out soon. A server who brought out food to another table took our order out of his personal concern. We finally at the least got our waters almost 30-45 mins later.

If you hungry or thirsty dont pick this place, they will seat you there but no body would come to take your order or even offer water or take at least your drink order, we were only my husband & me, this place is pretty disappointing.looks like the manager dont know his job or is too lazy to make sure everything is working fine. If you are hungry or thirsty, better find another place here, they will sit you down and you will wait a long time and even then they will not take your order or even for the drinks. It is a place in a good location but the service is horrible. I think the manager is either very lazy or doesnt know his job.

The barbacoa omelet hardly had any taste, needed more seasoning. Shrimp on the tacos is fried (like popcorn shrimp). The one we got was deeply fried as if it was leftovers and refried. It was hard to chew to say the least. And the tortillas that go with the tacos was so small & couldn t even tell it was a tortilla. The cilantro was wilted. Not fresh at all! Service was ok. If you re here for the food, you re better off eating somewhere else. The only good thing is the view as it is located along the River Walk itself.

We waited for over an hour for our food to come out after being seated in the far corner of the restaurant and not seeing our server for a while. We had to ask 2 people ( 1 server and 1 hostess) what the status was on the food. The food came out and more than half of it was cold. We paid an extra $3 for a cup of berries that were supposed to be in the waffles. I feel there are much better places on the river to get better breakfast food close by. In the picture are the triple berry waffles.

The wait for your waitress to take your order and bring your food is atrocious. The food was ok, but way overpriced. The best thing I had was the sangria. They also got our order wrong (bacon instead of sausage) and served one person at our table a much bigger bloody mary than one we had just ordered (as pictured). Very disappointing.

The atmosphere was nice being by the river but even though we had reservations, it took a while for our server to even come over and take our orders. It was not his fault as they had overwhelmed him by seating way too many people in his section. I blame the poor service on the management and kitchen since it looked like they were way behind on orders and it was very chaotic in the back area/kitchen. I would like to try again maybe on a more organized day. Also I think the brunch menu should include more from the breakfast menu as I was sad when I was not able to get chicken and waffles (a staple brunch item) and my husband was not able to get the lox board since it was a Sunday.

The dressing was well tossed and didnt overpower the flavors of the greens. Had the chili-lime chicken which added a great flavor to the salad. We also had the shrimp tacos which looked wonderful and tasted better. Definitely will be back during our stay.

He then said I heard you were interested in the sangria and the bartender made an extra so someone needs it. I told them I was good and he replied I could have it. I assumed that meant free so I said okay to stop him asking. The bill came out and I was charged for the drink. I guess I shouldn t have made assumptions but they should also have taken the first no and respected that.

We came here for our 10 year Anniversary and we had a reservation at 7pm and we arrived at 2 minutes till 7pm. We were greeted immediately and were sat on the patio like we wanted. Mind you we were the only guests there at that time. Curtis was our waiter and was super friendly and greeted us immediately. We had our drink order and then our appetizers order. Then he took our dinner order. Drinks came out and were good. Then apps came out and were great. The dinner came out and then the skillets for our plates were not sizzling and the food was warm. The beans were good but were not hot. Tortillas and the Barria cazuelas were good but still food was warm. Needed Salt for the salsa and green salsa. Then Curtis forgot our friends Coke and had to ask for it. We like Curtis but the cazuelas should of been very hot and sizzling the food should of been piping hot. Mind you, there are 2 tables, us and a older couple that had chips and salsa and dessert. The dessert was great Tres Leches and the Churros and that chocolate dipping sauce was so good. Id recommend that. Little too pricey for what we got and $15 margarita was ok, but it was such a small drink and for $15 I just expected a little more in the drink. Theres my thoughts on our night out here. Make your own decision.

Not impressed at all. We went there for brunch the morning on my wedding day. I was excited about the Mimosa flight, which turned out not to be three little mimosas but a bottle of champagne and three little concentrated juices. I ordered the chilaquiles and barely touched them they were not very good at all. No one really enjoyed their main dishes at all. We all ended up fighting over the side of potatoes that we ordered, those were actually really good. We made her reservation because our party was over 6, I really doubt we needed it It was pretty dead when we went in.
