I came in and sat down, seat yourself. Then i waited and waited. The place was not busy, and no one asked me for anything. I didnt even get a glass of water. Everything looked good from what I saw online. Maybe next time if Im ever in San Antonio Texas. Service

Upon entering the Gavel, the bartender asked us what we wanted to drink before we were able to get anywhere near our seats. A bit premature. Our initial Margaritas were good, however, we ordered something different for our second round and got the same Margaritas instead. We told the bartender and she said she was sorry. After more than 20 minutes we had no doubt she had no intention of making the drinks we ordered. We told her we were waiting for them so she finally made them, incorrectly. We had also ordered food. My wife s food came out 10 minutes before mine, and was missing the sides. She never did get them. A bad experience all the way around.

I had a fantastic experience at The Gavel with bartenders Becca and Maria during happy hour. Their attentive service and friendly demeanor made the visit truly enjoyable. My son and I came in and since weve been here our waitress has been over to another table with drink after drink. While our order took 30 minutes to order and 40 to come out. When brought up her response was Im only one person: waitress, bus boy, bartender, etc. Yet, our drinks are dry and a 5 top has had 3 rounds of beers. My opinion is serving based on ticket/tip amount. The Chicken Alfredo pasta is oily noodles with no real sauce. Grilled chicken tastes amazing. Construction zone atmosphere. Bar making it not appropriate for kids.

The service was good, and the bartender recommended a nice beer on tap, but I wouldnt get the Smokehouse Burger. It was well done to the point of being chewy (no prompt for what level of doneness), and the fries were bland and floppy. The seasoning on the burger and fries were good, but not enough to overcome the prep.

I attempted to dine with this restaurant as a guest of Riverwalk Plaza on 9/5/23 and rudeness of the staff detoured me immediately. The restaurant was dirty and so were the attitudes that I encountered. Stay clear of them. By the way I heard your smart remarks as I sashayed away.

Wow. A nice refreshing delicious meal right off the Riverwalk with the greatest service. Victora and Maria welcomed us with a smile and absolutely the best service we have received at restaurants around the Riverwalk. The sauces that comes with the cheese curds have layers of favors. The burger and fries are just as good. Way better than the other more expensive places we have eaten since our stay around the area. The adults drinks are balanced, smooth and also delicious. This place is worth taking the extra few steps from the Riverwalk.

So, as soon as we walked in, the bartender/waitress greeted us and was very pleasant and attentive throughout our experience. I got the Bourben Barel Smash drink, and my wife got the Jalepeno Pineapple Mule, and we both really enjoyed our drinks. We got the Fried Avocado appetizer, and it was very good and full of flavor. For our entrées I got the Butchers Pork Chop, and my wife got the Cosa Rican Mahi. Her dish was really good, however mine was just ok, the pork chop was a little dry, but the asparagus and mashed potatoes were very tasty.

Went to this place last night (5April) around 10pm. Upon entering we asked if we could order dinner the bartender ( who was very nice and apologetic) stated yes, kitchen dont close til 11pm. So we sat down she bought is menus and said she would be right back. When she returned 5 min later we placed our drink and food order. 10 min later she came back and stated they only had 2 pastas available and the table before us had ordered one. So we said no problem. We ordered chicken tenders and a chicken ceaser salad. The chicken tenders were little balls (she sat it down and said Im so sorry idk what this is, I yelled at them in the kitchen) and the chicken on the salad was dry and hard. We ended up eating nothing. Only had drinks. But they still charged us for the food! Needless to say, we left hungry and very disappointed!

The first night, small bartender with colored hair... Excellent service, great drinks, great food. 1030 am the next day, she is still working. Breakfast was great too. We came back that evening. We sat and waited. And waited. And waited. The server was playing with tvs behind the bar. She fiddled with this and that. Leaving one other table and ourselves sitting. She finally came over, like a 58 sloth dragging and sloppy. She asked if we wanted a menu, seeing as we dont live in this hotel bar/resteraunt, we asked for one. She let out a VERY audible sigh, then sluffed off to get them. She came back, slid them in front of us, then scurried off. Fastest shed moved since wed been there. Never even let us order drinks or water. After 20 more minites of her not returning, we got up and left.

I came thinking this place would be an approximation of their 4.7 rating and got low quality hospital food instead. Expect watered down salad dressing, rancid oil croutons, flavorless Alfredo sauce, and dry burgers. Even the lime provided with the beer tasted sulphuric this place gives zero f s about what they are serving taste wise or freshness.

Waitress/bartender openly admitted the cook was too intoxicated to cook food after we asked where our food was after 1 hour and 5 minutes of waiting. She could have told us sooner. Ended up ordering door dash and called it a night. What a waste of time and poor service. Ridiculous experience. Management should never had put the worker in that position of managing a place with no credit card receipt system, an intoxicated chef, etc. Its too much for an inexperienced worker to manage alone.

I felt sorry for our server, she was the only one working the front of house and was also working the bar. There were multiple 4+ tops and a full bar. The food was bland and not great for the price point. I also suggest putting a Please seat yourselves sign at the entrance because I saw several people wait for a nonexistent host to come.

Food was good but service was not good. Staff was friendly but not attentive. We were greeted right away and our order was taken quickly but we were pretty much ignored from then on. I had to go to the bar to get napkins, silverware and another round of drinks. I guess you have to sit at the bar to get great service here.

Tangy BBQ and Lemon Pepper wings are AMAZING. They are juicy and flavorful. The staff is pleasant, fast, and attentive. Pizza and Mozz Sticks are delicious but there is something about the wings that I just have to get one more time before I leave Texas. Oh and I got the Cucumber Melon Martini and O-M-G the bartender hit it perfectly. So remember, wings n cucumber martinis!!!!

I had an opportunity to dine at The Gavel, earlier this week. My friends were staying at the hotel on the Riverwalk, so we decided to stay close. I am so glad we did. The food was amazing!!! Chef Luis & Chef Hugo went above and beyond to ensure that our meals were cooked to perfection. The drinks were exquisite. Cass, our bartender was excellent. Perfect customer service. The entire staff should be recognized for a job well done! I will be going back.
