I first went to a rainforest cafe 20 years ago. I loved it then but have noticed a massive drop off on the quality of food. Even getting a glass with our beer was a challenge. Bland food that is overpriced. Better options in the area. Kid-friendliness: Setting of restaurant with jungle animal theme is good. Kids food is not good. The macaroni cheese is cooked from a packet.

We have eaten at Rainforest Café locations in Florida several times. This location was great too! The food was delicious, our server was very attentive and helpful and our children loved the ambiance for which this chain of restaurants is known for. Like everything else, prices have gone up, so be prepared. We paid over $20.00 for each salad!

We were seated very quickly upon our arrival. We were sent to the second floor, then the third floor. It felt like we were being passed off each time. Not great customer service there. We sat for 10 minutes before anyone approached our table. When Ariana arrived our service became great. She was wonderful. I had a burger and my 2 friends had steak and shrimp. All of our meals were very good. We ordered the volcano dessert for my friend s birthday, but was taken back when it was $19 on our bill. Very expensive meal, but a fun experience. Don t know that I would do it too often.

Currently on day 2 of waiting for them to send me a message that my table is ready. I m being sarcastic btw. I m not a local. We arrived between 7:40-7:50 and were told it d be a 20 minute wait. At the 35min mark I decided to check for an update. Was specifically told from host that they re just cleaning off a table and they ll message me soon. It was close to 9pm and my husband checked their hours and saw they close at 9pm. We accepted the fact that the hosts were just beating around the bush and never planned to seat us. We left right away and had dinner at Mi Tierra on Market Square. Go there instead. Much nicer. Please do better.

Came here for my son s 4th birthday dinner. We had been at SeaWorld all day and had reservations but by the time we got to our hotel we weren t going to make it. The hostess stand was very accommodating and we only ended up waiting maybe 20 minutes for a table on a Saturday around 6:30pm. Valory was our waitress, she was very friendly, patient (we had 3 children under 6) and just overall a very good waitress. She made my sons birthday so special. The food and drinks were all amazing. Landrys chain should be ashamed! Generally poor service plus one downright reckless one. My eight-month pregnant daughter was celebrating her birthday. The best of times. She ordered a turkey wrap, and was assured that they would heat the meat. Deli meats need to be heated before serving, preventing miscarriage. The wrap was entirely stone cold. We mentioned this to the server who insisted he ordered it correctly and wasnt willing to do anything, even bring back to the kitchen to heat through. She sent it back and ordered an appetizer. When the appetizer arrived, the rest of our meals were stone cold. Other generally bad service items include: 20 minute wait past our reservation. They asked if it was a special occasion which was my daughters birthday. She watched three other birthday people get something special, but she got nothing. Toast for the appetizer arrived after the entrees. He didnt bring soft drink refills when requested. He rarely checked on the table. The Cole slaw had no dressing. We told the manager who said he warmed the turkey himself. I believe that is a straight-up lie. The meat was stone cold, but the fries were still hot. He didnt do anything to acknowledge our complaints, and took my credit card. We waited about fifteen minutes before he came back with card and bill.

My family and I were really disappointed with this restaurant. The food is mediocre. The price of the food is too high for the quality of the food. The service is slow and not attentive or very friendly. The wait times are long. The thing that sealed the deal for us never returning is finding a roach in my sister s mojito. We called the manager over and he immediately walked away with the drink and then came back with another one and comped that drink. No explanation, no real sincere apology- just tried to sweep it under the rug. It could have been handled in such a different way instead of trying to pretend like it didn t happen and by making it seem like such a grand gesture to replace the drink and comp it. She certainly didn t drink it. The last thing I will say is check your food and drinks before you drink/eat!

Went out of her way to cheer my kids up and fix some of the mistakes I made with a positive attitude. It s not common to see a server checking up on us and making sure we had a good time. We came here a few weeks ago and we had the most wonderful time at Rainforest Cafe! Its a bit of a family tradition for us to take our kids anytime we are in the area that has one, and I think this might have been our best experience yet! Our server, Courtland, went above and beyond in every way to make sure we had a great experience with our kids. He was kind and attentive and so patient with them! We fully enjoyed our conversations with him and he even gave us a gift from the gift shop. The food was great, as always and each one of our kids enjoyed the experience of the rainforest Thank you so much for an amazing night, we cant wait to return!

We took our boys to the Rainforest Cafe for the first time. Daejia was our server and she made their first time absolutely magical! She made everything fun and exciting for them and they had the most amazing time and created some fantastic memories for us all together! Okay, I only came on here to give my honest opinion. First Id like to say that i hadnt been to the rainforest Cafe in like 20 years. My birthday was last weekend and I wanted to bring my kids for the whole rainforest Cafe experience. I really wasnt prepared. We did have to wait an hour but that wasnt even an issue since we were on the Riverwalk and theres tons to do while we wait. After we waited, we got a text that said our table was ready so we went to the hostess who sent us to the 3rd floor. As we went up the stairs as soon as you got to the 2nd floor it smelt like a sewage pipe broke. I wasnt the only one who noticed, sadly my husband just looked at me with wide eyes and we pushed up to the 3rd floor. It didnt smell Nearly as strong. So we walked to the hostess to see where wed be eating only to be told to go back to the 2nd floor. My stomach literally dropped. We slowly walked back down and held our breath asking for our table. She sat us in the far back away booth with the animatronic pandas. Which is honestly my favorite animal.but these poor guys looked like they havent been cleaned or kept up with in 20 years! Ill be honest we should have just left but the kids had never been and they were excited to sit and eat. We did see our server about 10 mins after being seated. I ordered a sweet tea thinking it was a safe bet. Oh Lord , I dont even know how you mess up sweet tea but it tasted like bottom of the pitcher tea.. the refill at the end of our meal was a much better batch of tea but we were finished with our food at that point and really ready to leave. We had all ordered my husband had a burger, it was ok. I have shrimp tacos, meh. My kids got dino nuggets. It really did take awhile to push out a lot of meh food that wasnt very hot. And our server was so busy with other tables birthdays it wasnt good service. Like I said it was my birthday but it was also the 4 other tables birthday so we had already heard the song 4x so we didnt mention anything! also, I know Im older, but the volcano used to have a sparkler and its just not the same with tinsle. I kinda figured it wouldnt wow us either.. sadly I really wanted to love it. But I just couldnt, I definitely wouldnt recommend this place if you actually enjoy eating food. It really has went way down hill and I wish my kids couldve had the experience I did growing up.

We had the best service imaginable and it was a special place to take my 2 nieces from Georgia (13 and 6) and my youngest (8). One of the worst visits at this establishment, one took forever to receive food on a Friday night, waiter was not attentive all night, no refills when we needed, we would ask for others passing by only to be told ok and never following thru. Chicken was as dry as the sun lately, paid over $240 for 4 of us, not worth the long wait, we had not mind but when food came out, it was all cold and tough on the chicken. The rice was just as is, not even lukewarm. Needless to say it was not a good experience at all. Wont go back only because of the service and food, the place is awesome, but you need the other two to get repeat guest, not here anymore.

We arrived at 7:20 and put our name on the list for a 2-hour wait. During that time, we enjoyed cocktails at the bar and browsed the gift shop. By 8:45, I noticed that families who arrived after us were being seated, so I checked with the host. To my surprise, our name wasn t on the list. She added us back, saying it would be another 15 minutes. However, after she left, multiple people faced the same issue with the new host. The manager eventually seated us, but our kids food didn t arrive until 10:30 p.m. We stayed because our children were excited, but the experience was frustrating, especially considering the food was mediocre. We visit for the experience, and we love it every time! The food is okay, but to see the amazement in the eyes of our nieces, nephews, and/or friends children is priceless! Last night was no exception. We took our 10 month old niece, and she was entertained the entire time. The service is great and friendly. Our server had an apparent injury/limp but was still tending to us and his other tables without wincing. Our drinks and food were served swiftly. A reservation is highly recommended. So much fun and delicious food! Have you ever seen a hamburger this big and amazing? We had such a good time and the service was great! The atmosphere was fun and unique! Eating as if you were in a rainforest or jungle, with the sound of distant thunder, lightning and rain, then adding the animatronic animals and their sounds, made our dinning experience so enjoyable and memorable! Went to celebrate my birthday then were going to a production at the Majestic theater. We were sat at a booth. I sat in a poodle of water. The manager was called over. I told him my pants were all wet. He said Sorry, they should not have sat you there because the air conditioner was leaking. To go tell the hostess to find us another seat. That was it!! I could not believe he was so nonchalant about it. I now had to sit through dinner and 2 hrs at the Majestic with wet pants. Our waitress, Daejia, was great! She was very attentive and did everything right so that we would have a great experience.

My husband enjoyed his pork chops meal. It was good but one of the pork chop needed little more cooking to me. My sample platter was good. The only thing I didn t like was the manager spoke to customers passing him saying yall enjoy. We passed him and sat right in front of him and he never spoke to us. We didn t look like him thinks the other customers, hopefully that wasn t the case. Other than that it was nice. Waitress was attentive but too rush for me to look at menu. The food is just overpriced Chilis Or Ruby Tuesday food. The service wasn t that good because our waitress was horrible. She kept forgetting what we asked for , she should ve just written it down She just dumped a big appetizer platter on our table, ran off, & didn t give us any plates or utensils. We had to eat off our napkins until she came back about 10 minutes later The huge chocolate cake was dry, they were stingy with the ice cream, but dumped loads of whipped cream to go with it (we prefer ice cream). The Oreo (jungle) milkshake was delicious. I also enjoyed my steak, shrimp , & rib trio. I love the ambience and the mechanical jungle animals, but the experience, service, & price of the food wasn t good enough to go back again.

My friends and I went to Six Flags Fiesta all day and were ravenously hungry after a long day of thrills and walking in the hot sun. Two of my friends had been to a Rainforest Cafe in Chicago years ago. They said they had an overall pretty positive experience, so we decided to choose this one in San Antonio to restore our bodies with what we thought would be great food along with an immersive restaurant experience. So it s safe to say we had high expectations, but boy did the restaurant not even meet the bare minimum for even a decent restaurant experience. First thing that should have raised some red flags was that there was no host at the door when we walked in and people were piling up by the plenty. It took 5-10 minutes for a hostess to arrive, but she was randomly chewing ice from her ice water as she seated us and 6 other parties very nonchalantly like she hadn t been away from her post at all. My boyfriend has worked in many restaurants and he said someone would get fired for doing something like this. We were being seated at one of the round table booths when one of my friends accidentally touched the seat. It seemed there was some mystery ketchup that had leeched onto him, as it was very sticky. The mystery is that we have no idea how long that ketchup had been there for. We ordered two orders of the Chile Con Queso. The queso tasted like the cheese was fake or had been store bought but my friends and I were too hungry to even care at this point. We all got different items from the menu. It was annoying that they didn t have any entrees under $20, but hey, if the food was worth it, why not? We got the Anaconda Pasta, Rasta Pasta, Lasagna, and the Blue Mountain Chicken Sandwich. I m sad to say that none of us thought their dish was good at all. The Blue Mountain Chicken Sandwich s chicken was very bitter and came with fries that had a sweet aftertaste to them. It was described by my friend as sad and very underwhelming. The Lasagna s tomatoes were very acidic and half the lasagna tasted undercooked, probably because the microwave they put it in only cooked half of it. The Anaconda Pasta had the same problem as the Lasagna; very acidic tomatoes, but the difference between the Lasagna and this was that it was actually overcooked. I wish these microwaves had some consistency to them. And the Rasta Pasta was the only somewhat decent thing that we tried, but why did they put peppers on this pasta that was supposed to be a fettuccine and pesto mix? Gordon Ramsey would have a fit if he saw this. Admittedly, we were going to fake my friend s birthday to get a free dessert here, but after eating this disastrous meal, we decided to just pay and book it, afraid that they would overcook the ice cream or add peppers to the lava cakes. The atmosphere was decent with the rainforest theme, but they didn t have to go as far as make the whole restaurant feel as hot as a rainforest, as there was no ventilation near us. Overall, food was a 1/5 experience. We actually had a lot of fun making fun of the food though. I felt bad for the waiter; he was actually great and pretty attentive but I think deep down in his heart, he knew we hated the food after none of us asked for doggy bags for our half eaten entrees. There is one last thing I wanted to add. You remember the mystery ketchup that had leeched onto my friend s hand? I was sitting next to my friend and the ketchup somehow leeched onto my leg but only noticed on the way out. I guess I got leftovers afterall. Update: The day after we had this dining experience, 2 of my friends found the mystery ketchup on their shoes. More revenge for not taking leftovers home.

Went to the Rainforest Café on a Friday afternoon when it was not very busy. It was easy to get a table without any wait. Several hosts/hostesses were chatting with the exception of one who, sat us and went out of her way to help find a baby sling as they did not have any at the moment. Our server did a great job with explaining menu items and taking our order. The food runner who brought our food seemed upset when we asked him to clear plates for our appetizer service. The food, including the burgers, pasta, ch chicken and fish tacos all were flavorful and up to par with other chain restaurants. The flavors were better than previous visits to the Rainforest Café. Portions are big so no dessert was ordered. By the time we left the place was getting pretty full. Advise you avoid primetime to avoid long waits as it is on the Riverwalk.

In the past, I steered away from the Rainforest Cafe because of bad experiences. I m glad we gave them another chance, because they didn t disappoint!! The place was packed and even though our waiter, Jeffery was swamped, our glasses were never empty. We even had the manager, Destiny, check in on us and bring us things we needed. It was a great experience and we wanted for nothing. The staff all came and sang for my nephews birthday and it was amazing. Thank you Jeffery and Destiny for making this a memory of a lifetime!!

Today my family of 5 went so excited to Rainforest Cafe on the Riverwalk. As soon as we entered the building we smelled a foul odor that smelled like sewer which seemed as it was coming from the water fountains! It made our stomach turn but we stayed because we thought it would go away and it didnt! It smelled even on the second and third floors. One of our family members did not even want to eat due to the smell. The food was delicious and the waiter was nice! It did take about 40 minutes to get our food after we ordered. The atmosphere was nice, but dusty, which caused our asthmatic son to sneeze and have troubles.

Please be careful when buying the stuffed animals!!! Day 2, one of the eyes fell of the alligator/crocodile plushie. This is so dangerous! Major choking hazard. My brother kept in on the bed and one of the eyes fell off when he was playing with it. Please make sure its secure before buying INCLUDING if youre buying it for a small child. Don t bother at night. You will wait more than an hour to eat. And there are no seating areas to wait. and during the day the waitress got our drinks and left us hanging I hate to say but eat lightly before you come because this waitress with auburn hair obviously has a pattern with the other customers which is to order everyone s drinks, then come to you after your drinks are watered down. Service is what makes the experience!!! We have been here almost 30 minutes before being acknowledged. We even asked someone else to help us and did not even bother to help us either. So yes I think the idea of coming here is better than the actual experience. We are out of towners and the whole experience in San Antonio was a bust.oh yeah 1 more thing!!! IMPORTANT!!!! The right side of the lane is NOT parking you will be ticketed! The police here do not care if your are from out of town or not even if you do ask people for help San Antonio takes advantage of EVERYTHING especially parking. Oh my goodness. Pictures cant even describe this place. If you love animals or the jungle you have to visit this restaurant. Some of the animal statues move or make the sounds they are associated with. They have the sound of thunder periodically and the lights flicker to simulate lighting. The food was also fantastic with great prices and huge portions. There was a 45 minutes wait to get a table on the day we visited and then another 25 minutes wait to get our food but it was so worth it. I think if you go during lunch the wait would be shorter.

We were a group of 8 people and they told us that in an hour they would have a table and they would send us a message to our phone. After 1:15 we asked and they said that they had canceled it because we were not there, even though we were out there near the river paying attention to me. cell phone so when we told them that they did not send a message they told us that in half an hour, after that time they took us up to the 2nd floor and there they told us that they were cleaning the table, we waited 15 more minutes inside, once we had the table Everything went as it should, the waiter was attentive, the food was delicious and you know the concept of the restaurant because you enjoy it and have a very pleasant time. Its a shame that they have no way of notifying you or not complying with what they told you in the text message.

This place is awesome, just awesome. Food came hot and on point. We had Python pasta (I asked them to have no meat on it and they accommodated). Also had fish and chips. Both were very tasty. Ordered grilled cheese sandwich and mac & cheese for daughter. The theme and decore of the restaurant is very unique. Im pretty much sure my wife and I were more excited about it then our daughter. Ill add some photos. You can just check those. Dietary restrictions: I asked them to remove chicken for pasta and they accommodated.

We went on a weekday at around 11:30 in the summer. My husband and I split the Korean chicken lettuce wraps and they were delicious! It was the perfect amount for two to split for a light lunch. Lightly fried and crispy chicken. Our son had the pizza kids meal and while we didn t like it he csrtsinly did, plus it was a lot of food for the price (around $8 for pizza, side, and drink) and he ate all of it. In fact, it came with a couple of orange slices which weren t listed in the menu and when he dropped one on the floor the server brought him a cup with two more and some cherries. The atmosphere was kitschy but fun the thunder and roaring were almost too scary for a four year old but the fish tanks were a big hit. Is it the cleanest place? No. The trees and things are dusty and probably impossible to clean. Is it an enjoyable place to take a family? Definitely.

This was my first time dining at Rainforest Cafe & I ve lived here all my life! My bday just past and I wanted to go somewhere I could take my kids for a family friendly atmosphere! Lavon was our server and made it extra special for me & my kids! My kids enjoyed the decor all around the restaurant I don t know why it took me so long to come here! The manager Isidro came and checked on our table to make sure everything was ok, he seemed to be doing this throughout the restaurant & either because we told him we were celebrating a birthday or maybe just cause the kids he gave them a little sweet treat which they def enjoyed! 10 out of 10! We will be coming back again!
