Disappointing..I made a reservation through OpenTable, but upon arrival, I was told they couldn t honor it. Despite having a confirmed time, we were informed we d have to wait an additional 30-40 minutes. This was quite disappointing, especially since we had planned our evening around the reservation time. A restaurant of this caliber should have better coordination with its booking system to ensure guests aren t left waiting unnecessarily

Took my wife for our anniversary and we werent disappointed. We had an 8pm reservation and when we arrived 10 minutes early we were seated right away. It was very nice the decor and ambiance were fantastic the music was subtle and subdued a nice touch. When seated there was a place card saying happy anniversary and a small list showing their top menu items. The waiter showed up promptly and took our drink order a cucumber martini and a watermelon troubadour. We ordered an appetizer bbq bacon thing that came with blue cheese crema and while Im not a fan of blue cheese it complimented the flavor of the bacon. I ordered the roasted chicken it cane with a small portion of mashed potatoes and asparagus and it was delicious the chicken was succulent and flavorful the mash potatoes had a great consistency and nice flavor even the asparagus was cooked perfectly. My wife had the New York 16 oz with a side order of potato au gratin and she also wanted to try the herb and parmesan fries. Her steak was probably the best steak shes ever had so tender and juicy she could have cut it with a spoon and the truffle butter gave it an amazing flavor. The potatos were creamy and tender and not mushy like au gratin potatos can get and the fries were fabulous great flavor and texture. We later had their blueberry cheesecake and it was very good not a fan of cheesecake but it was delicious. This was definitely a fantastic dinner and I would recommend Brenners for special occasion it was a bit expensive but then again I believe it was worth it. Will definitely be back.

While in San Antonio for our World Conference I made a reservation at Brenners after reading the wonderful reviews. It was absolutely amazing, from the ambience to the dessert. The waiter was so attentive, so knowledgeable about the menu and also made great recommendations. Brenners food was great. Steaks, crab legas and sides all so delicious. It was a great dinner and so much fun. Thanks to Brenners for making our night so nice.

Apparently there was a dress code so they sat us on the first floor which I didn t have a problem with but if you have a dress code and want your customers to come in classy please don t have your hostess where a revealing crop top I m sure they sat us in first floor due to me wearing jeans but i don t know for sure anyways the told us to go downstairs and we were not greeted down there so we ended up looking for a table then another hostess saw us and asked that same question we told the original hostess and she continued to seat us at the table next to where we originally choose .. our server I have no clue who does the hiring but they need to be more professional and attendant to their customers most of the service were talking for about 10 min until we were actually greeted which was ridiculous! When there was only 2 tables other than us down there so it was not busy .. as we looked over the menu I called out to my server 2 times as she walked by but she only seemed to care about some guy at the bar with 2 other workers also just talking for about another 10 min then a different server noticed us waiting and she tried yelling for our server but then she still ignored talking to the man man so my husband and I were just annoyed at that point .. our server also tried serving us the wrong food blamed it on her dyslexia as for the food it was I loved that salad my husband didn t enjoy his lamb

So, we were in the San Antonio area for a week, eating almost exclusively Mexican food, which made us happy, but on the weekend, we were on the RiverWalk, and we wanted a steak. And wow did we score big by going to Brenners! We sat by the river to people and boat watch under the big tree, and the menu was amazing. We definitely had the bacon-wrapped shrimp and something else -- I cant remember. Then we both ordered the Wagya fillet and sides. Then we got one of the desserts and the carajillo, which is one of the best versions of an after-dinner espresso martini you can imagine. I make them at home, and they are divine. As was the whole experience. The food was absolutely fantastic, from start to finish, and our waitress was a champ. The bill was wow, but we knew that going in, and we didnt care. 100% win. Definitely stop here for dinner, but bring your wallet.

Very disappointing experience. Service was very slow. Drinks took 30 minutes, 1st course arrived after 1 hour. Entrees arrived after 2 hours. When we asked the manger to look into why our meals were taking so long, he was very dismissive. Our server stated they were understaffed for how busy they were. Even if that were true at 8pm on a Saturday night, management should have returned to address the delay. He did not. Major failure in service. Our bill was $650, and the manager could not be bothered to address our very legitimate concerns. Would not recommend. Would give zero stars for service if available.

Made reservations for 7:00 pm. At 6:30 got a txt our table was ready & to call if we could not make it. Got there at 6:50 & were seated. Was told no shorts or flip flops and dressed accordingly. Witnessed multiple tables violating the required dress code. I really didnt care until our table for two was ignored multiple times & all but my steak was well below average. We were hurried through initial drinks, salad & appetizer (appetizer was horible) but we didnt complain. When the check came I informed the waiter I was using my Select Card Club points. He came back & told me my balance was zero, however the last time I used it in Houston I was told my new balance was almost 500. I did not remember my password so I paid the bill with a credit card, knowing I could have used my points. Tipped the writer 15% which was 14% more than he deserved. Nasty experience that never happened at any Landry restaurant before. Avoid this place, not worth it.

This was my first experience at Brenners on the River Walk in San Antonio. The food, bevvies, and ambiance were outstanding, though not inexpensive. To start my experience, I had a traditional lime margarita at the bar. The staff was friendly, professional, and courteous from the get. I had some questions about the menu, and with some friendly guidance, decided on the bread basket ($5 and exceptional), the bacon wrapped shrimp, and a surf & turf option. All good choices. The bread: Ciabiatta French bread, cranberry sourdough, homemade pretzel loaf and lavash flat bread. All with house made Cholula lime and house whipped butter. Amazing. The shrimp appetizer was delicious. There were only four shrimp, but as a party of one, I paced myself with the bread and shrimp, and was able to finish my entire bread/app/surf/turf meal. The steak: I ordered the 8oz filet with lobster tail. I ordered medium and it was cooked to perfection! So tasty and delicious! The lobster and drawn butter equally delicious. I did not leave room for dessert or a digestif. I was pleasantly plumped and satiated! With tip, my experience was around $150 via solo. I look forward to returning!

Brenner s has only been on the Riverwalk a year, and what a magnificent find! Such a cozy, elegant atmosphere. There was a piano in the corner with a young gentleman (I didn t catch his name) who sang cover songs just loud enough that it didn t overpower the room. Our server, Vincenzo, was top notch, absolutely outstanding! He made it an even more memorable dining experience. My husband and I split the 22oz bone-in ribeye. Vincenzo brought it out for us to see before he took it back to the kitchen to split in half. We thought that was nice. It was delicious, but I would say my mother-in-laws 6oz wagyu was worth every penny! She ordered it black and blue, and it melted in your mouth. Amazing. My father-in-law ordered the Sea Bass. It was a good piece of fish, great flavor, very tender/flaky. We also ordered the wedge salad and lobster bisque, which were both very good. So, if you re on the Riverwalk, go to Brenner s. You will not be disappointed!

I didn t ask for a discount and was not offered one. Waiter very nice, piano player very good. Steaks once cooked again were good. There a dress code sign on the wall and the hostess has her belly out. Overall would be a great place if they can figure out the steam temp and the ac vent leaking in customers and their food.

My family LOVES Brenners! It is always the meal we talk about for the rest of the week. We come here for most of our special occasions and have always received great service from the staff and delicious food. The environment always feels upscale and they have great live music as well! Our recent visit was for Fathers Day and even though it was busy, we still received great service. We ordered the Sliced Japanese Wagyu to get us started and it was delicious as always! It is always fun watching it cook in front of you. I also ordered the filet mignon (perfectly cooked) and we got an array of sides (mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts)--all delicious! Even the Caesar salad I got was great. Would highly recommend this place if you are looking for an upscale night out with friendly staff that look out for you the entire time you dine! I just wanted to express my gratitude to our server Celeste for providing us with such exceptional service and ensuring that we had a wonderful evening. The food was truly top-notch and exceeded our expectations. Despite dining at various steakhouses in Downtown San Antonio over the years, Brenners has set a new standard that none of the others have been able to match. Both my Akaushi NY strip and my sons ribeye were absolutely amazing, and every dish we tried was delicious. I highly recommend not skipping dessert, as it was also outstanding. We opted to dine on the second-floor patio, which, although slightly warm, had a captivating ambience. I can assure you that you wont be disappointed.

IceTea glass sat empty for over 10 minutes had to wave waitress down. Tea came back looking very dark. Go figure it was coffee on ice. Now to try and eat my food. Lobsters just not tasting right. Pack it up. Im annoyed and not feeling to good at this point. Sat and waited for a moment. Next thing I know Im in the restroom expelling my lobster. Ladies outside could hear me getting sick and were kind enough to hand me some damp towels. I informed the hostess. Very disappointed. My evening was now ruined and had to return to my hotel room. We dined at Brenner s for the first time on Mother s Day. The food was exceptional, and our server was responsive. However, from the child walking around our table holding a plate and fork, the frigid temperature, the screaming children at another table, and the dripping ceiling, was not great! The music was super loud. We made a reservation and were dressed up, but were sat in the basement (it felt like). They did turn the music down, but my dad and sister in law had water constantly dripping on them from the AC vent. We spoke to the manager, but nothing was done about the child walking around our table or the dripping ceiling. When you spend that kind of money, you do expect a certain kind of experience down to enforcing the dress code for all and not for only a few.

I made a reservation 3 weeks in advance for my husbands birthday. First it started when we arrived that they told us that our table would be ready in 5-10 minutes. We arrived at 6:58pm and our reservation was made for 7:00pm. But I quickly calmed down when we sat down. Then unfortunately we had to ask for the food menu when we had already gotten our drinks (we were already sitting at the table 40 minutes)... Which is a bit embarrassing. When we ordered the starter, we also ordered the main course straight away as we didnt want to wait another 40 minutes in between. The food was very good, as was the live music. When I asked my server if my husband is getting a dessert for his birthday, he said they didnt do it. Which I found quite weird as I saw in the reviews on Google that they do birthday cakes. You pay $150 per person for the food and we were 9 people in total and they couldnt give a free cake for my husband?

I have eaten at several of the countrys independent steakhouses such as Rainwaters, Metropolitan Grill in Seattle, and also of course the chains like Ruths Chris or Mortons and this place was hands down one of the best Ive ever been to. I had the 8oz filet with Oscar sauce and tried the mushrooms and the mashed potatoes ( they have a different name) and they were amazing. Every single bite was perfect. I really dislike mushrooms...they were awesome. Plain and simple this is on of the best meals Ive ever had. Our server Jorge was phenomenal and knowledgeable and perfectly attentive. This is not Outback Steakhouse so the most affordable steak is still expensive. But on vacation or to eat once in a while or even only once ever, it is COMPLETELY worth it. If you stay at the Hyatt Regency or anywhere nearby and dont go eat here then you are wrong. Youve messed up. Dont be foolish. If I could take you here I would. Go. Take a date here and instantly get top tier status in your dates life. Enjoy!

its not that the food was bad but i paid $69 for a steak that is not better than what you get at longhorn steakhouse. OH and you have to pay for the sides separately at $14 a pop. Just really really overpriced which they can get away with because they are on the river walk. Piano player was not good either.

I sat outside on a Saturday night on the patio area with heaters that faced the San Antonio River Walk waterway. Nice view, and the heaters were helpful given that it was 50 deg F outside. The waiter was noticeably kind but overworked. It seemed she was managing the whole section herself, so therefore service was unusually slow. Cant fault her for much, she was working hard and again, very kind, very nice, and completely accurate. Service as a whole was a major and noticeable let down. The front-of-house teams were disorganized and obviously suffer from coordination and communication breakdown. For example, I (a single diner) stood from my table to visit the restroom and when I returned fewer than 5 min later the staff had cleared my table and were seating a party of four in my place-- even though I had a dessert order in progress on the way! The staff were obviously clueless that my table was still mid-service. I was tempted to walk right out without paying because it looked as if everything at my table had been squared away and finished, though I did not do so. Furthermore, the host stand is not noticeable from the entrance and hostesses not always present and stationed at them. It took a bit of searching to get seated initially. Outside of myself, I must have witnessed ten plus parties walk in, look for the host to be seated, look about the restaurant for a second, then turn around and walk away. The room and patio both had tables open, so I can only imagine how much business was lost on an otherwise bustling Saturday evening on the street. Food was just okay for the high price (I paid $182 after tip as a single diner, and that included a salad, a steak, two sides, a dessert, and one glass of wine). Honestly, Ive cooked up a better ribeye myself, which by the way here was not from a rib roast but rather from a steak. But Im visiting from out of town and the view was nice and lively, so, I consider this component...fine enough. Overall this place was merely okay but doesnt rise to the level of satisfactory. All would be forgivable if not annoying except for the service gaffes, which again were not the fault of my waiter but an issue with the front of house staff as a collective. Thats really whats driving me to write this review. It was an okay evening but if I were to have dinner in the River Walk area again then I would absolutely investigate alternative options.

Upon entering the restaurant on that fateful Christmas Eve, I couldnt help but draw parallels to the somber setting of John Steinbecks Of Mice and Men. We were ushered to our table with little consideration, finding ourselves perched facing the service stand and the relentless swing of the kitchen doors, much like the characters in Steinbecks novel, tossed by the unforgiving tides of fate. The evenings promise began to unravel as we waited an interminable 15 minutes just to wet our parched throats with a simple drink. To our astonishment, both our waiter and the bartender appeared utterly clueless when confronted with a Kir Royale order, a classic cocktail one would expect any respectable establishment to master. It soon became clear that Chambord, a key ingredient, was as elusive as the American Dream during the Great Depression. As we delved into our mains, it was disheartening to discover that the culinary experience was no less bleak than the seating arrangement. The red snapper, a dish commanding a princely price, arrived in a pitiable state. Its monochromatic appearance offered no relief from the drudgery of its mushy texture and the one-note, neutral-tasting sauce that smothered it mercilessly. The plate was a canvas devoid of color contrast or artistry, much like the uninspiring landscape Steinbeck painted in his novel. The saga continued for my mother-in-law and her friend, who had chosen to split a steak. It was a choice that led to an unfortunate narrative, as the kitchen staunchly resisted their plea for a medium-well preparation. In stark contrast, my sons steak, ordered medium-well, arrived with an unappetizing presentation and an unpalatable inconsistency that mirrored the unpredictability of life on the road during the Great Depression. Despite these culinary tribulations, the restaurant managed to strike a chord with its music, which reverberated through the room with a vibrant energy that stood in stark contrast to our dining woes. As we grappled with our disappointment, we couldnt deny the charm of the San Antonio River, which flowed serenely outside the window, offering a glimmer of hope amidst the gloom. But even the allure of the river couldnt wash away the bitter aftertaste of our dining experience, especially when the bill arrived, a hefty $700.00. This sum did not even account for a bottle of wine, and one member of our party who abstained from alcohol entirely. It was a steep price to pay for a meal that failed to meet even the most basic standards. In conclusion, I regret to say that I cannot in good conscience recommend this restaurant, not until it can rise to the standards set by its Houston sister establishments. Much like the characters in Steinbecks literary masterpiece, we had hoped for something better, something special on that Christmas Eve. Alas, our expectations were met with disappointment, leaving us with a lingering sense of disillusionment and an empty wallet.

When the waitress came to our table To take her order she suggested the bread, however when we got the bread I asked her why she as it so hard? 3 types of bread in the baskets and all were hard you could not eat them. She stated they ran out of the regular bread and this was a substitute and she tried to charge us for this. The crab cake was okay just not hot as if it was sitting for a while. Then I got to speak to a Manager one day, he told me to call in the morning and speak with Allison Smith. I did, called several times and left many VMs and nothing, she never got back to me so I had to send my colleague onsite before the group arrived and she ended up working it out with a Manager (Eric, maybe? Thank you!) that saved us! Awful experience, dining was great though so cheers to Operations and thumbs down to the Corporate office team.

The food is extremely overpriced mirroring prices you would find in Miami DC and New York and the food was bland and not appetizing so the price on food doesnt equate to higher quality. An absolutely terrible example of a restaurant that exists because of its location without the service or quality product to back it up. I took two business associates out to thank them for their hard work, and they pulled a switch of steaks at the last minute. Telling us they were out of the one steak that was ordered and asking if we could replace it with another when it was very evident that they had messed up the order and put the wrong steak in. No compensation or discount for providing the wrong steak. One of the steaks undercooked. All with a very slow level of service that is absolutely unacceptable at a facility that bills itself as a premier steakhouse. There are plenty of other places to go to get a good steak in Texas. Don t waste your money here.

This was the rudest encounter I had during the whole time i was visiting San Antonio. I was on the verge of meeting negative energy with negative energy but I choose the higher road. We enjoyed our dinner but I will say, we were expecting a bit more of the food. We ordered the filet mignon and the lamb chops. They do not come with sides so you have to pick other sides from their menu. The steak looked like it was just thrown on the plate, which I was not expecting for a $60 steak. However, it was still very delicious. The lamb was a very small portion. The waiter suggested to pair a side with it, which we did. I m thankful that we ended up doing that because my boyfriend nearly finished his main dish in a few bites. The best part of the meal was the appetizer, bacon wrapped shrimp was to-die-for!! Japanese A5 I finally found the opportunity to experience the infamous Japanese A5 wagyu. I have had both American & Australian Wagyu but as everyone knows, A5 is the gold standard. I found a steakhouse on the San Antonio Riverwalk that offered many high-end steak options including a 6 oz A5 filet mignon. I opted to go with the A5 Wagyu appetizer which came served with a hot stone allowing you to cook tableside. The wagyu was everything you can imagine and more. Literally like its described in most reviews as meat butter melting in your mouth and creating a flavor thats indescribable. I also opted for the salt service which I highly recommend if a steakhouse has this offering. This gave me a variety of black truffle salt, Himalayan salt and even a jalapeno salt to utilize on every dish I ordered including the A5. Next I opted for some Oysters which in fact paired very well with the salt service as well and were a nice East Coast variety But then I couldnt resist taking advantage of their current Wild Game feature which was a Bison Ribeye served on top a cauliflower & spinach puree. This entire dinner service took over 2 hours and was probably one of the top three meals Ive had in my life. Everything was cooked to perfection and the service was immaculate. We dined here September 2023. Our experience started off bad - the staff was very slow seating us - they were all waiting for the hostess that was nowhere to be found. Finally a waiter told us to just seat anywhere - and once seated another waitress quickly came around and took our order. The waitress was kind and professional. The drinks/wine was served quickly, but our food order - a salat and a shrimp cocktail - was served 45 minutes after the order was given. So that was quite slow. And I guess this place is just a bit slow for people at other tables also waited a long time for their food. The food tasted well and the cocktails were well made. The selection of food and drinks is fine. With the big variety of restaurants in the Riverwalk I guess I would try something else next time and hope that they can serve food just a little bit faster.

Beautiful place to share outdoors (I recommend). Good variety of meats, fish and seafood. They cook the meat to the customers taste and with quality. I recommend the balcony table. From there, you can fully enjoy the climate and the area. The attention is personalized

Had Shrimp Cocktail, Ceasar Salad, and split a great Steak and Salmon. Service was great, place was clean. My only complaint is that each of the Cocktails we had was either half full, or 3/4 full(Possibly a poor/inexperienced Bartender). Other than that I would definitely recommend, and definitely suggest the Shrimp Cocktail. Food

Everything was well done (except for the steak ;). My hubby got the American wagyu and I got the salmon. The steak was cooked perfectly and the salmon was seasoned nicely. We also got the lobster rolls and the bread service. Food tasted wonderful.

Had another birthday celebration dinner with my . Loved the location, vibe, and setup of this restaurant. Bussin Bussin Super excited when weather cools down and we can actually eat outside. The food was very delicious and our server Keith was phenomenal. We went on a slow night (Monday) so the bottom floor was not open for dinning however the bar was open . Be sure to head downstairs for the live music and piano playing. Really enjoyed this place.

Had an amazing dinner here. Wonderful atmosphere and the food was absolutely incredible. The quail wing appetizer is a must. They offer an excellent selection of steaks; the Japanese center cut filet was out of this world. A big shout out to our server, Ryan, who really went above and beyond. Cant wait to come back!

Cant say enough great things about this restaurant! It is 5 stars all the way. Why anyone would rate it anything less, I just dont understand. Absolutely everything about it is marvelous: service, food and atmosphere. The dishes are prepared with expert attention to detail and made with the finest ingredients. Filet cooked to perfection. Potatoes au gratin were to die for. A lovely dining experience all the way around. Highly recommend.

I cant help but express my sheer delight and utter satisfaction after a truly remarkable evening spent at Brenners on the River Walk in the heart of San Antonio, TX. From the moment we stepped foot into this exquisite establishment, it was evident that we were in for an exceptional experience. Let me start by giving a well-deserved shoutout to Jocelyn, our bartender extraordinaire. Her skillful mastery of mixology was a spectacle to behold, and her creation of the finest martinis adorned with succulent blue cheese-stuffed olives left our taste buds dancing with joy. Jocelyns warmth, genuine hospitality, and friendly smile that never seemed to fade added an irreplaceable layer of pleasure to our evening. The culinary journey that followed was nothing short of a gastronomic symphony. The bacon-wrapped shrimp, a tantalizing blend of flavors and textures, provided an impeccable prelude to the culinary extravaganza that awaited us. As we progressed to the main course, the prime filet mignon and ribeye, cooked to absolute perfection, graced our palates with a divine tenderness that left us in awe. The cognac-peppercorn sauce and truffle butter elevated the steaks to celestial heights, orchestrating flavors that sang harmoniously with every delectable bite. Lets not forget the captivating sides the roasted mushrooms and roasted cauliflower au gratin. They were a harmonious accompaniment, tantalizing our taste buds with their savory allure and showcasing the chefs mastery in crafting a memorable dining experience. As our enchanted evening unfolded, the ambiance enveloped us in a warm embrace. The dulcet tones of live music serenaded us, intertwining seamlessly with the charming and elegant atmosphere surrounding us. It was as if time had momentarily paused, allowing us to savor every moment, every morsel, and every musical note. And to culminate this remarkable feast, a fine cup of coffee accompanied us, a perfect conclusion to a night of culinary excellence. The stars twinkled brighter that evening as we basked in the afterglow of an evening that will forever be etched in our hearts. As I look back on our experience at Brenners on the River Walk, I cant help but echo the sentiment shared by my beloved wife this was, without a doubt, the pinnacle of dining experiences. The impeccable service, the captivating ambiance, and the meticulously crafted dishes harmonized to create an unforgettable memory. A heartfelt and resounding thank you is in order to the dedicated staff, the talented chef, and of course, to Jocelyn, the embodiment of hospitality and grace. Brenners on the River Walk, you have left an indelible mark on our souls, and we are forever grateful for the enchantment you bestowed upon us. Until we dine again, our hearts remain full, and our taste buds forever crave the exquisite delights you bestowed upon us.
