Update - last year I commented about the walkway from hwy 151 entrance to the pond was closed off for improvement. Happy to say that isnt the case now. You can now get to the pond from both entrances. They added an area with trees where you can overlook the pond which is very low now. It looks like they are seeding the area between the two sections of the park. The only is the walkway have a lot of dirt on in making it hard for Mom to use her walker.

Araceli Marie Castaneda accused MY dog of biting hers in January 2021, when it was her own dog biting her. Please watch out for fellow dog owners when visiting, who are so dumb or out of it that they cant identify which dog bit them.

The kids area looks good and its shady. The trail is closed. There is a big open area that looks great for flying kites or playing with RC cars. There is a dog park, an outside gym for a very light work out, a baseball park, and a basketball court with no cover. Its too close to the highway (traffic noise and fumes) and its surrounded by a construction area (dust, no trees, excavations). If you are looking for a serene, beautiful place to walk or run, this is not the place.

Fishing is a great way to engage kids and enjoy the outdoors. This pond offers a serene environment for fishing, but please note that swimming and dogs in the water are not allowed, just as Millers Pond with the same City Code Regulations. Lets respect the pond and its purpose for fishing only.

Dog-friendliness: This park has a dog park that is divided into large and small sections. We were in the small section, and I was a little sad that the grounds were full of rocks and overgrown, and it wasn t well-maintained. Small dogs are very close to the ground, so well-maintained landscaping is essential. The large dog park seemed to have better grass than the small one.

Playground was somewhat boring for the kids, even though it seemed new. Basketball court was large. Lots of open space- people were flying kites there. Some shade over equipment, but park lacked any trees near the playground/ courts. Dog park off to the side along trail. Someone didnt have control over their dog on the path outside the dog park, and someone got bit. Trail was closed that supposedly went around the pond.

Great park with lots of stuff to do. Theres a playground, huge fields for sports, a dog park, and a pond with trails surrounding it. Currently the park is under construction (3/24) so hopefully well have new pathways and amenities soon. Playground: Two different covered playgrounds near the parking lot. Toilets: Only has Porta-potties, but looks to be well maintained. Dog-friendliness: Two gated dog parks with benches. Picnic area: Lots of open space to use for picnics. Also has tables with BBQs.

Back in the mid-60s my buddies and I would hike due north from my house in Westwood Terrace heading for Alamo Downs, back then the grandstands were still intact and were pretty massive on the way there we discovered this interesting Quarry. When you say Quarry this is what I think of. Marbach Road was still a gravel road and we we lads had discovered a Wonderland. I am ridiculously happy to see but it still exists and folks have made it a better place to visit its very pleasant

Don t bring your dogs here. The dog parks are not maintained; people don t pick up after their dogs, they don t follow the rules, and there is always a dog fight breaking out (which the owners won t take responsibility for). And now the only perk to Tom Slick has been taken away from the public. The small lake and walking trail around it is no longer accessible thanks to the new housing they re building. The rest of the park is bone dry grass and dust that you and your dogs will hate walking through. Something out of a post apocalyptic movie.

Theres no water feature/pond open to the public at this time. We encountered sidewalk closed signs and saw a big temporary fence put up like theyre remodeling. We stayed in the regular dog park, which has very few trees or grass and little shade but a lot of obstacles for the dogs. They had plenty of water fountains, but it was otherwise not our favorite dog park.

The dog park is easily the cleanest dog park Ive ever seen with a lot of space and a nice trail for either large or small dogs. There is a nice basketball court and playground as well, however the shade tarps had collapsed and were so poorly fastened down it injured numerous kids while I was there with my godson, wife and friend. The baseball field was in ruins and the park as a whole looks like it was previously a construction zone with how sparse, uneven, and rugged the grass/ground was.

Theres also a big open field where Ive seen people play soccer and I believe theres even a dog park on the other side of the park. Its very family-friendly.
