It used to be a much nicer place, but they recently added a dumpster blocking the view of the sunset at the end of the parking lot. Aargg. At least you can still take your kids to feed the deer in the early morning or late evening.

Pleasantly surprised because it s 3 minutes from my HOME! My other son Travis found all these parks around me. I didn t know they existed due to lack of signage (maybe a good thing) and tree cover. My dog Koda Bear loved this place and so will the rest of the pack. Remember to bring your doggie bag with wipes. The place is so natural and clean. Koda Bear loved seeing the deer run along with the squirrels. #tonyabrego #tonyandthedogs

I dont get out there as much as Id like, but Ive always been impressed with the trail system. Easy trails, to difficult ones, theres something for all levels of expertise. Well placed water fountains and air pumps are really helpful. Not to mention the 911 location spots in case of an emergency. Toilets: Port a potties scattered throughout.

The area offers multiple clean and spacious trails for walking, which is a definite plus. However, be cautious on the trails near the roads, as the traffic can get busy. The neighborhood itself is fairly calm and not too crowded. While I did notice some friendliness, the overall atmosphere didn t feel particularly welcoming, though that could just be my personal experience. If youre planning a walk, going solo or with a group might make you feel more comfortable. I didn t see any restrooms, and while there are dogs present on these trails, I didn t notice a playground or picnic area. The park is primarily focused on walking and cycling trails. Though the routes arent particularly scenic, its a great spot for getting a good walk in.

Easy access to the hike and bike trail along Leon Creek. Off paved trail are numerous mountain biking areas. Have gone past 1604 a couple times from this trailhead. Lots of bathrooms and water fountains along the way and a few bike repair stations. Park rangers patrol frequently as well as trail stewards!

This Park is perfect to walk, hike, enjoy nature, and actually interact with nature, we took some small apples from home, cut them in half and offer them to the beautiful deers that live there; it was a wonderful experience, the Park has different levels of excitement. We ll definitely go back!

Theres a ton more parking here than I originally realized. I saw a lot of people walking, running, and riding their bikes. The cement paths are well maintained. Theres plenty of rocky and fun-looking dirt bike paths winding through the trees. This is a great spot to walk the Leon Vista trailhead.

Decided to check this place out. Im new to this side of town, so Im trying to find new places to hike. From what I saw on a short visit, I was impressed. The main trail is paved and connects to other trailhead parking throughout the neighborhoods over here. You can take off from this point and reach O.P. Schnabel in 1.5 miles to make it 3 miles round trip for a good little workout. Great for walking, running, and biking. Trail is plenty wide to accommodate all without feeling like you are going to get run over. I personally like to go off the paved path wherever I go, and there are lots of little trails that shoot off of the paved path. There is lots of wildlife that doesnt seem to spook too easily, so you can take good pictures (birds, squirrels, and deer mostly). This will be a great place for a quick hike and to connect with nature thats close to home when I have limited time. Toilets: They have a portable restroom at the beginning of the trail.

Dear Leon Vista Park and Trailhead, Calling you a great running trail alone would be an insult..Oh how I long for your twisting roads and endless dirt trails, I could get lost in you. Come to think of it, I did and almost died of thirst! I ve spent many years getting to know you. You brought me tranquility in a mad world. I hope to come back to you someday and see how much you ve grown Sincerely, Michaela
