Last-minute whim brought me here and Im glad I took the leap. Trails are lovely, especially the manicured ones. But dont get too adventurous without proper shoes or youll be cursing. And sunrise enthusiasts, dont even think about missing the view from level 4 off-trail at the top its pure eye candy!

I hesitate to even rate this place highly because I want it to remain a hidden gem with just the right amount of foot traffic. If you want an easy paved stroll, check. Want more unpaved trails, check. Some steep climbs, check. Short hike, long hike, trail run, Texas views, all check. Place for picnic, check, great place to get onto the Salado Greenway, check. If you want a short or long day outside, this is a good place. Playground: Nice playground Toilets: Decent restrooms Dog-friendliness: Allowed Picnic area: Nice shaded areas

Absolutely love coming here for calm nature walks, trail runs and even rugged adventure hikes off the beaten path. Seems to be pretty well maintained aside from the wildlife that poops on the paved trial and the people who think it s ok to leave dog poop bags on the ground. (If that s you please throw in trash it s not good for our environment ) Overall a beautiful place to come be in nature! Playground: Our toddler loves playing on the rock climbing wall & the mini playground especially after being in the stroller for an entire excursion. Toilets: Standard metal toilets. Can t speak on cleanliness as I prefer to do it the old fashion way and pop a squat Dog-friendliness: Super dog friendly. I always see people with their animals and most of the time they re well behaved and on leashes. Picnic area: I haven t before but I could see this being a nice place to bring some food and enjoy nature.

Excellent, short, and mostly paved hike. Be aware that this is mostly if not all an uphill walk. I used to come here to push my baby while she napped and I worked on getting back in shape the first year postpartum. What a struggle! We took breaks to rest. The best part is when you reach the top! There is also real bathrooms and a playground. More recently they ve expanded the trail so you can go south or even to The Rim shopping area. I do believe they want to connect all the trails at some point so good luck! Playground: Old but still good. Toilets: In a building w flushing toilets Dog-friendliness: If they can handle it physically. Picnic area: Old but there.

Free entry and free parking. The turn point near the halfway point (near the observation platform) is not marked, so you need a map.

The trails are average - nothing special. The majority are flat with very little elevation gain. Its a good spot for people who prefer leveled and accessible paths. There are a couple of spots that allow views of the surrounding area... you can even see downtown San Antonio on a clear day (which is pretty much everyday here). Also, if youre like me and miss real mountains and real hikes, this place will not satisfy your craving.

I love this park, but for the past year or so the water fountains have been turned off. A park with this many miles of hiking and biking trails not having easy access to drinking water seems negligent. I suspect during the summer months there will be more than a few people who pass out on the trails. Some tips: take sunscreen and a good amount of water, many of the trails have very little shade. The wasp and bee life is very active. Theres a nice playground right near the parking lot. There are long paved handicapped accessible trails but also rugged steep ones. Like I said I like this park but they really need to fix/turn on the water fountains.

Perfect place to take your fur friends on a nice walk. It has maps to indicate the easier routes if warranted. Playground: Wonderful little rock climbing area and playground for the kiddos. Toilets: Central to the main parking area. Dog-friendliness: Be aware some dog owners do not pick up their dogs feces so watch your step. Picnic area: There are plenty of shaded areas with tables to enjoy a nice rest or picnic.

Some of the best trails in San Antonio to get some fresh air. They have beginner trails up to hard trails for more experienced hikers

Still my favorite trails to hike or walk in this city. My kids and pups love it too. We walked several miles this weekend without even realizing it. Dont forget to bring water and a collapsible water bowl if you bring your dog. Some of the trails are long. The paths and exits are clearly marked with distance and difficulty. This is an awesome feature. The lookout tower makes for great views. If you go just beyond the tree line at the bottom of the tower, you will find some more great views and additional trails. They have a playground, rock climbing wall, picnic tables, and decent restrooms at the head of the trails. There are also water fountains for people and dogs next to the playground. Its an overall great place to spend the day.
