Wonderful trucks to look at! My husband loved seeing all of the old gear, especially the ones he used to train on!!

It was our first time here and we loved it! It was so informative and my kids loved the play area. My husband liked seeing the trucks and my favorite was the Box 120 photography slideshow in the theatre area. We went for the free Tuesday time slot but even if we hadnt, make an appointment so that Ralph can chat with you while you view the space, he was so helpful, kind, and friendly.

John gave us a wonderful tour of the museum. It is relatively small, but several very interesting historic firetrucks, an ambulance, numerous historic pictures, tons of fire patches, and a great area for kids to play.

My 2 yo is fond of fire trucks and I found this place by chance when I was looking for indoor stuff to do with a toddler. He really liked it and refused to leave. Captain Conrad was really nice and did a really fun show playing music and singing. I think they do this the first Saturday of each month and we were just lucky to visit on that day. The nearby parking is really expensive, $24 per hour, so I suggest to plan ahead and park a bit far in a cheaper parking and walk to the museum.

San Antonio Fire Museum was excellent, its not very large, but had tons of cool historic items to look at. There is a wall in the back that had several small closets that they turned into mini Museums. I love the creativity of using a small space. The old fire trucks were amazing to look at and read about. I highly recommend stopping and exploring while visiting the area.

Absolutely visit on your way through San Antonio, or as a local! It s an excellently curated museum with plenty of interesting exhibits, an area just for kids, and lots of history! I really appreciate the fact that it s staffed by Retired Firefighters who are incredibly knowledgeable, happy to help, and great at answering questions. I suggest looking for street parking in the area, it s a lot cheaper than lots.

The San Antonio Fire Museum wasnt on our itinerary, but Im so glad we called in - it was one of the highlights of our trip. The exhibits were fascinating and well laid out, but the star of the show was our guide. It was a treat to hear the FDs history contextualised by someone who had served in the department. Our guide was also very friendly and welcoming Our young kids (4 & 7) were fascinated and had tons of questions. There was plenty to keep them entertained, including dress-up.

Very interesting and well put together little museum. Lovely volunteers; so helpful, patient and informative. Took my 3 year old grandson and when he saw the huge playroom with over a dozen toy fire engines, he was in heaven. He was allowed to sit on the seat of one of the old engines, wear the firefighter hat and ring the bell. This is a highly recommended activity, especially if you have little boys who love trucks and firemen.

In August, oh my Lord, is it hot in San Antonio! But fear not theres a hidden gem where you can feel the heat while relishing in a cool down. Enter the San Antonio Fire Museum, a sanctuary of both history and respite. Our guide, a seasoned SA firefighter with a whopping 34 (or maybe 37?) years of experience, transformed the museum into a living narrative with his intricate knowledge. There is so much history in every nook & cranny, even Thomas English Muffins would be jealous. From a nostalgic Pollyanna board game to an impressive collection of fire engines and trucks, the museum is a repository of memories (and people waiting to share them with you!) Oh, and lets not forget the Menger Bar, where history intertwines with the pleasure of a good beer. An unexpected twist emerges little did we know, one of the hotel/bars founders was intricately linked to the inception of the San Antonio Fire Department. For the younger enthusiasts, the annex provides a haven for play, complete with a handful of fire-related toys. Even Moses got in on the action, lending his endorsement to the experience. So, whether the outside is blistering or not, the San Antonio Fire Museum stands as a testament to resilience and history, an invitation to explore and appreciate. Visited on August 15th, 2023

My visit to the San Antonio Fire Museum was an unforgettable experience that shed light on the incredible dedication and bravery of our firefighting heroes. The museums exhibits offer a captivating journey through the history of firefighting in San Antonio. From vintage firefighting equipment to interactive displays that simulate real-life scenarios, every corner of the museum tells a story of courage and selflessness. What truly struck me was the attention to detail and authenticity in recreating the past. The meticulously restored fire engines and gear showcase the evolution of firefighting technology, while personal accounts and photographs humanize the heroes who risked their lives for the safety of others. The museums dedication to education is commendable. Informative displays provide insights into fire safety and prevention, making it an engaging experience for visitors of all ages. The knowledgeable staff is always ready to share stories and answer questions, enhancing the overall learning journey. Walking through the museum, I gained a profound appreciation for the sacrifices made by firefighters throughout history. Its not just a museum its a tribute that honors their commitment to protecting our communities. For anyone interested in history, firefighting, or simply seeking to pay homage to our brave first responders, the San Antonio Fire Museum is an absolute must-visit. Prepare to be inspired, moved, and filled with gratitude for the unsung heroes who keep our cities safe. Step into the world of firefighting legends and discover the heart and soul behind the emblem the San Antonio Fire Museum is a true treasure.

We were staying in a hotel right next door and just happened to see it on our way out, so glad we did! Such a rich history of firefighting, and there is an annex for EMT as well. There was a short guided tour through the building which is very informative and interesting. Definitely recommend if youre in the area!

Really great place to visit in San Antonio. We took our 3yr old son to see the fire trucks. I recommend doing the tour because youd get the history first hand on everything in there. My husband and I enjoyed the tour so much! We learned so much from our tour guide Curtis Franz.

What a wonderful place! Super affordable, and my kids absolutely loved it! Youre started off with a volunteer firefighter tour that tells you about some of their items, then they let you explore on your own. My kids loved dressing up at firemen pretended to put out fires. So glad we stopped here, its amazing!

I had the pleasure of going to the Fire Museum with a Cub Scout troop. The museum about the size of a fire station, which makes sense since it in an old fire station. The museum has a personal feel because you get a tour guide who is an ex firefighter when you enter, something I did not know when we got there. We learned alot about San Antonios firefighters and the history of how it all got started I especially liked the air brushed firefighter helmets/art that were painted and donated a local firefighter. Unfortunately the museum is a little less interactive as it once was, for the kids at least, due to COVID but overall still very much worth the admission price and time to get downtown. The kids also love their new toy fire trucks they got from the gift shop. Feast Firefighter medals as well as a variety of other souvenirs are sold here too. If you are in the downtown area or looking for something different to do I would recommend the Fire Museum.
