This is a go to place in San Antonio if you like art and artists. Its big on painting but they also have some sculpture and even a gift shop where you can buy from the member artists its free to go in but make a donation and then when youre finished go drive around the King William district for some architectural sites that make up one of the major places to see in San Antonio for historic architecture

The Art League is more then a gallery, it holds a judged show every year which gets better every year. League changes exhibits on a regular basis, anyone can join but you do not have to be a member to compete in the annual judged show.

Ive lived in San Antonio for 30 years, but just found this gem when a friend exhibited her works. Its a lovingly restored building, and I wished Id had time to sit in front by the fountain and read. The only downside to this volunteer-run operation is the limited schedule, as Im usually working when theyre open. Looking forward to returning soon, as the art changes regularly.

Seemed a bit uncoordinated and crowded. Couldnt very well see artwork due to people standing in front of the display and carrying on conversations.

I didnt know this place existed. I found it randomly when I was on Google maps browsing. I stopped in and was the first guest of the day. I was greeted by Stephanie. She was so sweet and her and I had a wonderful conversation. She gave me some pointers on where to find good watercolors and watercolor paper. The art was nice. This is something that is free and takes about twenty to thirty minutes to walk through, if you stop and examine every piece. Stephanie let me know that eventually when they start having events again, that I should bring my nieces and nephews to the studio they have. They have art activities for the kids. Ill definitely be back for that! Thanks Stephanie for your time and knowledge!

An unexpected treasure. I casually noticed the horse outside after getting a delicious sandwich from Station USA and wondered in. Terry is the sweetest thing and so composed. The art is diverse and everything was created by women (not including the members section). The house itself is beautiful and even the bathroom has art inside. A cozy, quaint place to do some art viewing.

Although I love the SAAL in King William, I was disheartened to see my favorite artists work crammed into an office space cluttered with business things and gift shop items. Some of her work was spaced through out but certainly not showcased as any art should be. In addition, the staff and volunteers stood around talking in that office space. We were unable to bask in the beauty of her work.
