As a paying customer, ready to order and behaving with orderly conduct, I was rudely and abruptly asked to leave by staff just because the waitress saw me briefly talk to someone playing in the band. He didn t even start his shift yet. I ve been to On The Bend before and the food was way below average and they took a very long time to serve us on a slow night. It was a slow night as well tonight when they shooed me out of the restaurant, plenty of open tables so as a paying customer, just minding my business, I didn t understand this rule. The waitress didn t not fully explain to me and was not kind when she told me to leave. I ve read reviews about the staff at OTB being racist and I really hope that wasn t the case with me. Super sad that I couldn t support my friend during his performance. Second time bad service I won t be back here.

Service was ok, our waitress didn t refill our water at all she never asked. Our food took about 35 mins to get. The appetizers came quick but it was fine, some of our oysters were almost non existent too small. When I finically got my entree there was hair on my plate so the waitress took it back she never asked me if I wanted something else or nothing, she just took the plate and they remade it I hope they did! and it took about another 20-25 mins to get back and the manager never came to us and said anything. Finally when we were ready to leave a man came to clear our table, I asked was he the mgr he said yes and I told him about the hair on my plate and all he said was oh yeah I heard about that and I ll talk to the kitchen staff that s it. He could have comped my meal or gave me a dessert or something! Only two of us ate there.

ASK FOR PHILLIPE!!! If you can stand the heat, the live jazz outside is always a treat, but the atrium seating is the perfect combo of outdoor atmosphere on the Riverwalk and indoor AC. The food is stellar and the drinks are reasonably priced. Try the gulf oysters and the crawfish and shrimp potpie. The bloody Marys are also worth a try. Enjoy the atmosphere and the people while tasting the best the gulf has to offer.

The food was definitely not on point. We ordered the mango ceviche andi it was mushy. The gumbo had a decent flavor but seemed like it had been sitting there for sometime. (Looked like it had been rewarmed) The drinks were fruity but didn t seem to have very much alcohol. In my opinion I would not return.

The amazing bartender Lelee is why this review isn t a 1 star. I was excited to come here for oysters specifically. The outside atmosphere is cute but it was hot so I decided to sit inside at the bar. Lelee made me an off menu drink based on what I said I liked and it was really good! I started with the gumbo which had a decent flavor but was runny like a broth or soup. Then I was happy I could order half a dozen oysters half east coast and half gulf. The first two were great and I enjoyed the mignonette and traditional toppings. The next oyster I picked up had not been properly cleaned and I got sticky, stinky, black oyster waste in my nail and almost threw up!! They took the oysters off my ticket and I finished my drink and left. Still hungry lol music selection was weird too.

Ordered a top shelf cocktail. Received a weak well brand instead. When pointed out, a correct cocktail was delivered. But they charged me for both. Cigars and oysters were also ordered at the same time. All of those were delicious. Irks me to pay for that drink when I feel they tried to slip an inferior brand of gin and got caught.

Me and my wife decided to try this place because it was connected to our hotel. This is our first trip to San Antonio, so we were excited to explore new territory. After our boat tour we walked in after finishing our boat drinks. Once in we inquired about the lunch specials that was ending at 2pm, upon receiving information, I decided that it wasn t for me, but my lady would have it. We ordered some shots and a souvenir cocktail in the meantime while we decided on everything else. Unfortunately our waitress disappeared and waited until the special was over to come back and see about us, which wasn t a surprise, because we did not feel welcome from initial contact. We decided to go somewhere else for food, so we closed out. The waitress let us know that we were not charged for the souvenir cup once I picked it up to take it with us, which was the only reason that we ordered it, being that we are tourist. Overall, the experience felt like we were unwelcome and a burden. I would not recommend this place for tourists. We went to the Esquire (the oldest bar in the area) and instantly felt the difference in customer service.

We spent a whole Week in San Antonio and looked forward to coming back to the oyster bar. We were very disappointed in the bar staff. In particular LeeLee.. she was very rude to customers and even her own co-workers. She yelled at them to get out of the way instead of politely asking. She was rude and disrespectful. We avoided that place bc of her and her attitude. She needs to find a job she likes

Im a little worried about eating raw oysters overseas, but they were delicious and my stomach was fine . Im also addicted to gumbo, so I ate it here as well. It was hot outside, but since we were inside the store, the air conditioner was working, so it was a comfortable experience. The raw oyster hors doeuvre recommended by the staff went well with the alcohol and Im glad I ordered it.

We went and visited here during the several days we stayed on the Riverwalk. The food in general was good, however the 2 items I ordered were questionable. I ordered the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail, and the French Quarter Salmon, which is Salmon served on a bed of shrimp and green onion rice pilaf. It was good, but on both items, the shrimp was absolutely hammered! I have never had shrimp more overcooked in my life! Worse than rubbery. It was lunch time, midweek, so its not like they were busy. We were on couple out of about 5. Could have been a bad day, your mileage may vary.......

Didn t get any food this time. I have a weird thing with if I can t see the ocean I can t eat raw seafood. Growing up on Long Island though I ll eat raw seafood all day sushi is another story I digress. The cigar lounge is wonderful! The service is also amazing. I came during the slow time so not a lot of folks but Augustine was a superb host! Come on down! Bring a cigar! Buy a cigar! Have a drink! Have multiple drinks! Listen to music! Watch the boats of people go by and wave at them! Also I spent some time here so don t look at what I spent as a negative drinks are well priced for being on the river walk! I lied I m getting the oysters. Will report back. I had the oysters on the half shell. Fresh and delicious! Not removing my 5 star review because it is worth it. Come down have some oysters have a cigar have a bunch of drinks talk to people you don t know, have a good time! Sorry I didn t take photos I m not as good at that as other folks.

The elevated cigar area is a nice place to see the riverwalk sights, and enjoy a meal, a drink, and a smoke. The Oysters Rockefeller were overall good, but three of the dozen were so tough and chewy they could not easily be eaten. The tuna sashimi was excellent! My wife enjoyed a cigar from the menu, while I brought my own. The caramel martini was an excellent way to cap our date.

We were on River walk stopped by the Frosty Dog to get a drink. The lady who was the hostess at On The Bend was the most RUDE UNFRIENDLY CONDESCENDING person Ive ever met. She insisted on telling us that this was the only restaurant that we could get an alcoholic drink at an sit outside. She got very argumentive . So we got a drink an immediately left. This lady was very confrontational when I told her we had went to The Rita restaurant an had an alcoholic drink outside. To top that off the drinks were horrible. We got frozen with a straw an the ice wasnt crushed enough to even come through the straw. We ended up just throwing them away. I WOULDNT recommend either of these places.

Since the restaurant is located in the Riverwalk area, it is a bit difficult to find the location of the restaurant. The restaurant is located in the city center, so the parking spaces are almost always full or, if they are, the hourly price is very high. Oysters are delicious here and there are many ways to prepare them to enjoy. Since there is live music here, the room is quite loud and obviously not suitable if you come here with the need for quiet. In addition, since it is a cigar shop, it is easy to smell the smell of cigarette smoke. It is not suitable for people sensitive to cigarette smoke and probably not for children. Parking: It is very difficult to find a parking space in such a central location. Then the parking fees are also very high. Kid-friendliness: Since it is a place that sells cigars, it is definitely not suitable for children. Wheelchair accessibility: There is absolutely no wheelchair access, wheelchair users definitely cannot sit on the roof, only on the lower floor.

It s a cigar lounge but they said we could only smoke outside on the upper patio, so we went up there. It had been raining all morning and afternoon but stopped luckily around dinner time and it was now 7 pm. The furniture was all soaked, the waitress wouldn t give us anything to wipe it off. No lights on so it was very dark. The lady said they didn t have a cutter up there so she took the cigar to cut it inside but when she brought it back she took a huge chunk out of it. They told us they were out of matches, so they made the entire upper deck share one lighter .. the whole time we were passing one lighter back and forth between everyone on the patio. Was a pretty pathetic cigar lounge . And the waitresses were nice but were not seen very often on the patio so most people were just going inside to the bar to get their drinks themselves.

Unmanned hostess stand outside, no line. Went inside to make sure we could be seated and came up to another unmanned hostess stand with a sign that read Please seat yourself, a server will be right with you. Walked outside to the patio are and found 2 empty tables. Sat down. Hostess came to greet us as she was helping serve drinks and said if we needed a menu there was one at the hostess stand for use to view and said our server would be with us shortly before walking away. Less than 2 minutes later a guy walked out and said we had to check-in at the hostess stand because there was a line of people waiting. We explained that we saw the sign at the front entrance but according to the guy, that only applied to the inside. All that to say, that this place lost customers tonight and the only reason they got 2 stars are due to the music that enticed us to stop in the 1st place. We walked next door to MadDogs and got immediate service, good drinks and awesome music!

I had the most bizarre experience with the waiter/bartender here. I ordered a pinot grigio with my dinner and the waiter brought out a red wine. I thought maybe he heard me wrong and asked for pinot grigio again, which he said the red wine was. He asked if I wanted a white wine and I said yes... pinot grigio is white. He insisted the Santa margherita pinot grigio was a red wine. Then brought me a glass of white and told me it was pinot noir. WHAT? I have never seen this kind of mistake before. Sure things get mislabeled but this is so wrong! And they insist theyre right! We ordered peel and eat shrimp and oyster. Oyster was good but shrimp had a weird texture. I cant tell if its extremely overcooked or not fresh. But probably one of the worst shrimp Ive ever had. Table next to us also ordered shrimp, they didnt eat any of it and left. So its not just us.

Outstanding! I was visiting the area on a work trip and met with my mother for dinner. Great food, great music, great cigars! On my way out the door I ran into a co-worker who had mentioned he stopped by every night to enjoy the jazz music, drinks and great scenery.

Service was extremely slow. Food was ok but definitely not the best at these prices. We waited about 7 minutes for drinks, our food orders all came out at different times. Our oysters & shrimp came out and the salad we ordered came about 10 minutes after that. It was just not a great experience. With all these restaurants nearby, Id recommend you choose a different one.

Was recommended as a good sea food place. The seafood section was limited with only oysters and a salmon dish. The oysters were good but the salmon was over cooked. Honestly the menu itself was limited. There was a live band doing jazz and that was nice. We sat outside on the river walk and it was nice. My only complaint was the outside tables were too small to fit a party of 4 and food. The drinks were average. All around average for me.

Great place on the Riverwalk for oysters. Fun location for people watching. The jazz combo was setting up as we left. Our server was a little overwhelmed, but the staff was friendly. Upstairs featured cigar area if thats your thing. Overall we came for oysters and left satisfied.

They have mist water fans to keep cool, plenty of shade & great happy hour specials. I Highly recommend the Garrison brothers bourbon glazed salmon entree & Oysters Muffaletta. This will definitely be on my list to return to when I go back to the Riverwalk!

We went here last night for the upstairs cigar lounge. All I can say is that this isnt really a cigar lounge. First off, they have an extremely limited cigar selection. Second, they only have handheld cutters and matchbooks with small flimsy matches or tiny cigarette lighters to get your cigars lit. The service is just an afterthought being upstairs, and you shouldnt expect to see any staff up there often. We had the waitress come by 3 times in the 2 and half hours we were there. I had to go downstairs multiple times to get my water glass refilled. I wont be returning here.

While we had a lovely time there were parts of the seating were all sunken in and some of the cushions had holes in them. They weren t very comfortable to sit in and made the place look messy. I had to sit on 2 cushions so that I wouldn t sink in the chair. I hope they update these soon. On the positive side, the server was amazing and very attentive, the food was very good and the jazz music was lovely.

The food here is not very good. The shrimp and andouille flatbread was bland, it had too much cheese and looked unappetizing. The andouille sandwich which had grilled onion was also plain. They just cut up andouille sausage and put it on bread with melted cheese. The seafood dip was more like seafood cream cheese. Not too bad but also was pretty bland. The oysters were ok. Service was good though and eating on the river was nice.

What a great location at the Riverwalk!! We were lucky enough to grab a table at the outside bar with a table overlooking the water and right in front of their great jazz band. Hands down my favorite dish was the very unique Oyster Muffaletta that combines two of the foods I love most...and yes, this oyster tastes just like that famous New Orleans sandwich. Second favorite dish was the Oyster Kilpatrick...also a very unique twist on a baked oyster & very delicious. We had a great time & will definitely go back again next time Im looking for a great meal & time in San Antonio!!

You are better off getting a drink and listening to the amazing jazz. If you order food (it may take forever for your waitress to even take your order), and then when she does you would hope she would point out the happy hour specials are a much better deal (but she didn t). This oyster dish was $35 and clearly two of the oysters cannot even he considered oysters. They consisted of nothing, not even a single bite worthy. Why even serve these to a customer? We watched lots of people sit down, not be acknowledged for 20-30 minutes and then they d leave. Definitely short staffed. The jazz is the best part of this place.

I read the reviews and I m thinking that maybe we went too early. I wasn t impressed by the food at all. The oysters were so small for the price. $35 for a dozen. I expected bigger, it wasn t the gulf coast oysters they were east coast. The ahi tuna sandwich not good and raw in the center. Maybe it is supposed to be that way and I wished I had known. The drinks were good the server could of been more friendlier and not short and curt. Oh well, MY visit wasn t the 4 star everyone says. It is definitely OVERPRICED! I d recommend if anyone visits drinks was the best part. It is clean and very nice inside. I can see the attraction but won t be going there anymore.
