10/05/2024 We celebrated my Daughter in law 50 birthday here. The food, the drinks, the atmosphere and especially the top notch service made this event memorable. Joe stopped by to see how everything was going. Our waitress was on top of everything and ran things smoothly and in timely manner. Our guest were impressed. No complaints here.

We had our 10 year anniversary date night here this weekend, and it was perfect! Loved the atmosphere, and our server was very attentive/friendly. My husbands steak was cooked perfectly, and my lobster ravioli was the best Ive ever had. French cosmo was delicious. The owner stopped by to see how our meal went, very nice! Looking forward to going back soon.

A great experience. Service was impeccable - friendly, attentive but not overly so, quick. The place is very pleasant and though its a large room it didnt seem as loud as Id have expected. The food was mostly great - the carpaccio in particular the best Ive had outside Italy. My pasta choice (pappardelle Salvatore) was good but the flavour was a little more intense than Id have preferred. Thats a personal preference though, and it was cooked perfectly. Overall a very enjoyable evening, and I hope to return.

We got high expectation from this place because of the reviews but they delivered short! Were a party of 8 with reservation. Since we have a reservation, they do not want to move us to seat outside when there is no people occupying the space yet. It took well over 45 minutes just to get our orders. It took over 20 minutes for someone to get the beer he ordered. It took another hr just to get our food. It took 15 minutes for someone to give me a utensil... The food is not flavorful! The carbonara is absolutely bland. The lamb shank is good but you can barely taste it since the portion is ridiculously small especially for the price for it. The rest of our orders were not flavorful either... some has bigger portion but not something we were motivated to come back for. A huge disappointment. I DO NOT Recommend this place at all!

Our server was super nice and greeted my husband and I shortly after we were seated, but that is where the good experience stops. The bread that was offered after we were seated was okay but the butter trio was less than appetizing. The sun dried tomato butter did not have a butter consistency or flavor and was very watery; while the basil pesto butter was simply green without any flavor at all. The menu was impressive, so we thought, with several veal options and an interesting risotto dish with Italian sausage and langoustine tail meat, which is what I ordered. My husband ordered the veal saltimbocca. The dishes came out in record time with billows of steam rising from each dish as it was plated. Though we did not hear the ding as the microwave was done heating both dishes, they sure seemed to be much hotter than what could be reasonably expected for a fresh cooked meal. I tasted my risotto. It was bland. I moved the risotto around a bit hoping the second bite would prove to be as delicious as I had anticipated, but I was sorely disappointed. My husbands veal saltimbocca was accompanied by fettuccine pasta which was swimming in broth. Both dishes lacked all seasoning. We reluctantly asked the server if we could have salt and he brought some over. Hoping a few sprinkles of salt would bring out the flavors of the Italian cuisine we were looking forward to we added a bit to both plates and tried them again. There was minimal improvement so we ate what we could and asked for the check so we could end this abysmal evening date night dinner. We won t be coming back to dine again.

Luce is a true Ristorante Italiano, more formal and luxurious than a trattoria, and far above a common osteria. This is quite possibly the best place to go for Italian fine dining in the Alamo City. My review could have, should have been a 5 star, but alas, our server was supposed to box up my exquisitely cooked, absolutely perfect Linguine Mare Chiaro. Instead, he ended up throwing it away, and then returned to the floor as if nothing happened. My lady and I calmly and politely waited for him to return to our table. When he did, I inquired about the status of the leftovers box. He immediately became hesitant, and then sheepishly stated that he boxed it up, but somehow must have thrown it away or it got misplaced or something . I initially thought this was a prank. Surely, he had to be joking. Time slowed to a creep. I looked at my companion. She looked at me. We both looked at the waiter. He shrugged and apologized for his gaffe, and then asked if he could fix things by talking to the chef or his manager. At this point, my lady was completely ready to leave. We had already been there for a good, long, romantic evening dinner and wanted to get cozy and warm. We had already settled our bill and we always tip well. We thanked him for his service and just told him its ok, we need to go and no big deal. In different company or circumstances I probably would have spoken to his manager just to make him aware at the time, but we move differently in the company of womenfolk, and I deferred to her desire to go ASAP. So, the food was absolutely wonderful. Lobster Ravioli. Exquisite. Linguine Mare Chiaro. Superb. Their cocktails were delicious. Mixed perfectly. We always had bread and butter on the table, and the ambience and lighting really set the mood. I really like this place, and definitely will return. Next time, Ill remind our server to make sure and bring our to-go leftovers BACK to us . With inflation and the cost of living going up daily, having a half plate of rich linguine loaded with clams, scallops, shrimp, mussels, lobster, and calamari, thrown away by a frazzled waiter felt like a punch in the kidney. Man, I was really looking forward to those leftovers.

The server was great and accommodating to our kid. Suggestions were good and we never went without bread and water so that was a nice touch. The food was the only complaint I had. Most of the things we ordered felt like the kitchen was shorted on their salt order. Not much flavor but it looked beautiful and the next day when I reheated it at home and added salt it was delicious. Would go back for the service.

If you like creamy pasta dont come here! We ordered 3 shrimp Alfredo plates to go and got 3 dried pasta with 5 sweet peas, 2 pieces of green onions and a small piece of, it looks like prosciutto not sure. It was in each plate. This place is really cutting back on ingredients! We asked for extra sauce and didnt get it but was charged for it. We will not be returning to this restaurant.

They overbook here, went on Mother s Day weekend, was my daughters 10th birthday. They served our children within 15 minutes, and this was appreciated. Adult entrees (3) never arrived, at the 90 minute mark it was approaching 9:00 and my kids were pretty over it. We waited 90 minutes for 3 plates of food I asked for check and told them I could not wait anymore, they said food would be out in 5 minutes, I said it s too late. They insisted I let them box it up and take it to go, a nice gesture. When we got home they boxed up food was 2 kids meals and a single adult entree. We had 3 hungry adults at home, but we shared and it was fine, Food was pretty good, would have been a lot better on a hot plate. Needless to say, the dropped the ball, ashame because it was a very nice restaurant. I won t ever go back.

After Maggianos had to cancel my sisters baby shower due to kitchen sprinklers going off and flooding it, I hastily tried to find an Italian restaurant to book last minute for a party of 30. I called Luce and Joe, the owner, was able to accommodate last minute. Not only is the ambience beautiful, the food is spectacular. 8 have not been impressed with any italian places I ve tried as of recent, the food menu is expansive and the cocktails and great takes on well known classics. We ate in their private wine room and had great dedicated service from our server, Katie. Luce made sure all our accommodations were met and we all left very impressed. Definitely will be back!

Luce has always been a family favorite in my household, and I am so happy to have been able to hold a beautiful private event at one of our favorite restaurants. When I was looking for a restaurant to host my daughter s baptism lunch for 45 guests, I spoke with a lot of restaurants that gave me the run around and who s advertised prices were not the same as the actual quote. I finally remembered to look into Luce for private events, and I am so happy I did. Their private event menu is not posted online, but Joe, the owner, and his amazing staff were quick in providing me information and were always willing to answer any questions I had. The fees were clearly communicated and the menu was tailored to our liking and budget. I was assured that everything would be ready and taken care of when our party arrived to Luce, and sure enough me and my family walked into the beautiful wine room that was all ready with appetizers, serving ware, water, menus and additional tables for our party favors, gifts and cake. The food and service were amazing. I didn t get our servers and host s name, but they were kind, funny, helpful and very good at their job. Everyone left telling me that they had had a wonderful lunch and had found a new restaurant to add to their rotation. I am so thankful for all of the work the people at Luce put into making my baby girl s baptism even more special. I would whole heartedly recommend this place to anyone looking for a good meal or as a venue for a private event.

I was interested to see if there any more Restaurant Week places we could check out and the menu for @luceristorante piqued my interest. Hubby agreed when he took a look as well. I made reservations through Open Table for dinner tonight. We found out that the prix fixe menu is part of their regular offering. Included is a glass of sparkling wine, pinot noir or chardonnay. Hubby and I both chose pinot noir and it s really smooth. Dad and I shared the Ravioli al Quattro Formaggi/Cheese Ravioli, and Pan-Seared Sea Bass, Shrimp and Asparagus Risotto. Hubby had the Gamberi al Limone/Sauteed Shrimp, and Linguine Mare Chiaro/Pasta with seafood. We all shared the Creme Brulee and Tiramisu. The portions are pretty generous that hubby wasn t able to finish his pasta dish. It was a pleasure meeting owner and chef Joe Buonincontri. He s been blessed with running @luceristorante for 18 years! I m looking forward to warmer weather and sitting in their outdoor patio. We were noticing that several tables ordered their pizza so we might try that the next time. If you haven t tried @luceristorante, add it to your list to check out!

Went there with my wife and two kids, service was average, staff friendly and helpful, service time was great, ambiance was top notch, dining room nifty and clean although the bathroom were awful,...but now to the main reason for two stars...there was no costomery straters like bread butter that you expect in a Italian restaurant or any restaurant for that matter, although the portions were generous and the food temperature and presentation were acceptable, the taste was not. The seasonings were all over the place... The chicken Marsala was overcooked and bland and the veal was over seasoned, the cucumber martini was off tasting and down right butter... The kids spaghetti and meatballs was bland and under seasoned. I dont believe that the experience was overpriced if the food actually delivered on taste. I am all about giving business to family owned over chain restaurants but I am very disappointed and doubtful if I were to return again.

Im not sure why this place feels like an unknown quantity when it is almost always busy and almost always cooking delicious fare. Maybe its the fact that it isnt set somewhere nice in downtown San Antonio but, whatever it is, Im glad this place is around. I have come here plenty, and have yet to find something that isnt cooked or seasoned well. I had salmon over the top of vegetable risotto. The salmon was perfect and I had to slow myself down because the risotto was incredible as well. Paired with wine, it does feel like 5 star dining for the prices of a 2 star restaurant. Great stuff here.

If youre looking for a five-star dining experience, Luce Ristorante is the place to be! Upon walking in, the upscale decor and chic ambiance immediately set the tone for a fantastic evening. One of the highlights of Luce Ristorante is their impressive Happy Hour menu. The dirty martinis and lemon drop martinis are a must-try! The flavor combinations are perfect, and the bartenders really know how to make a quality cocktail. As for the food, the Stromboli was an absolute standout. The crispy exterior perfectly complemented the gooey cheese and savory meat, creating a mouthwatering treat unlike any other. To top it all off, the service was nothing short of amazing. Our server, Miranda, truly went above and beyond to ensure that our dining experience was flawless. She was attentive, friendly, and made excellent recommendations. Overall, I would highly recommend Luce Ristorante. From the tasty cocktails to the delicious food and fantastic service, they have it all. A perfect destination for a romantic date night, a celebratory dinner, or any special occasion.

So I took my Fiancée to Luce Ristorante E Enoteca . Its a very romantic little spot with awesome food and ambiance. When its cooler they have a lovely patio area as well. I got a special reserved table where they have wine bottles all around giving a stained glass affect. They also gave a complimentary Tiramisu cake for his Birthday. We did the Special 4 course menu each. Our choice or red, white or sparkling wine. For the Antipasti - Costolette di Maile Balsamic Glazed: St. Louis Style Pork Ribs & Caprese: Tomato Slices and Fresh Mozzarella di Latte, Basil, and Olive Oil. For the Entree - Ravioli di Aragosta: Lobster Filled Ravioli, Tomato Basil Cream Sauce, Maine Lobster Meat & Mare e Monte: Grilled Sliced Certified Angus 10 oz. Bistro Tenderloin, 4 Grilled Shrimp, Fettuccine Alfredo, Toasted Garlic Vegetables. Dessert - Vanilla Bean Crème Brule & Tiramisu: Lady Fingers Dredged in Espresso, Layered with Rum Mascarpone, Topped with Whipped Cream and Chocolate Shavings. Everything was delicious and fresh made. The service was top notch as well. Definitely a night we will remember.

We had gone ti this restaurant for my best friends graduation for med school. I would start off by saying the restaurant was not super busy when we walked in and we had a whole room to ourselves. They gave us a limited menu and we placed our orders within the first 30 minutes of being there at 6:30. We ordered all courses at once and the food was decent but service was super slow. There was only on waiter servicing us and he looked super stressed the whole time. We got in at 6:30 and werent able to leave till like 9:39 after our deserts were served. The food was decent but Im not sure whether it was worth the amount of time waited. You would just think with a larger party they knew was coming that they would have been able to handle us better.

There are a lot of good places to eat in San Antonio, but there are only a handful of truly great restaurants. From the moment you walk in the door at Luce, to the last goodbye, you are made to feel special...like family. Yes, the usual traditional Italian dishes can be found on the menu, but their next-level execution and fresh ingredients elevate even a simple plate of pasta to something special. Of course, if you are looking for something that you cant - or wont make at home, Joe (the owner) offers a wide variety of Italian classics and unique dishes that are certain to please. The wine selection has something for everyone. Admittedly, I dont know much about wine; I know what I like, and thats about it. Joe and his staff are pros, they can size you up in about 2 seconds...if you know wine, they can geek out with you on hard-to-find bottles that they offer. If you are like me and just get absolutely glossy-eyed staring at a wine menu, they will pick up on that and bail you out. I have found that if you just tell them what flavors you like, and what you were thinking of spending, they will make a suggestion or two of something that will pair nicely with your food and help you stay within your budget. If the weather is fair, you will definitely enjoy sitting outside on their patio. Every once in a while...If you squint just a little, you will forget that you are in NW San Antonio. Its worth adding that when the weather turns cool, they keep the fireplace stoked to knock off the chill, which makes it even nicer. If you have not been to Luce yet, let this be your reminder...grab some friends, find it, and go! Pro Tip: Check out their Happy Hour menu for deep discounts on shareable plates and wine.

Right, let me start off by saying this place is really pretty inside! I dined in with my brother and I somewhat had high expectations. Considering that the reviews and the place looked really good and of course being a bit pricey. I ordered a fettuccine and my brother ordered picture below - forgot the name of the dishes... anyways, I think I made quick assumptions that the fettuccine would be freshly made Now, Im no expert or anything but Im not kidding when I say, it tasted like Barilla (no offense) but it definitely tasted like store-bought-pasta... BUT on the bright side, the taste of the dishes, were good... cant go wrong with tomato . Mussels were good too! Just a bit disappointed with the fettuccine. THANKS ANYWAYS

I specifically request lemon for our table for our waters - we were brought two lime slices????!!!! Our water glass was never refilled. Our dinner came out luke warm - I myself ordered the chicken marsala - it tasted like Chinese food. We ordered coffee, the waitress served us pressed coffee, which we were excited to see - however she did not know that she needed to boil the water to serve pressed coffee - she used tap water!!! Obviously no training. To make things worse, the owner was 5 feet away from us at the prep line. Not once did he check on the dining room to make sure all was good with his guest. Absolutely terrible service and even worse food!

My wife and I had a great evening. The service was fantastic, The portions were big enough that we both had to take our dinners leftovers home, and the food was very very good. If I had to say one thing that could improve, it would be to use homemade pasta instead of boxed. But I make my own pasta, so I am probably biased. This is a very good restaurant, with very good service, so if you re going to eat Italian , please try this place out. You won t be disappointed.

Time to find a new place to unwind. My coworkers and I would gush over this place, we all agreed that this is not it!!!
