This place has some of the best pizza in town. Better than places that charge twice as much for a pie. I recommend going for lunch during the week and getting the special. Pizza, a salad for $8. And of course the beer is some of the best locally brewed beer in SA. July 2024 EDIT: Why is this Freetail location so much better than the 1604 location? Is it the excellent staff? Is it the laidback vibe? I don t know, but this is by far my favorite pizza place. Even if they didn t have great beer, I would still one dot the food.

The Southtown location of SAs long-standing Freetail Brewing. Large indoor space with some outdoor seating. lots of taps and a beer-togo frig. They recently added a pizza kitchen that does great stuff. UPDATE: beer is solid and always interesting. BA metal winners every year so good beer.

This is our second visit to Freetail. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is fun. The craft beers are some of the best we ve had. The bartenders are knowledgeable about the beers so that s really helpful if you are wanting to try new things. We also had a pretzel that came with a beer cheese dip and ground mustard and a Greek pizza. The food was delicious!! I highly recommend this brewery for a great time!

A pleasant, unplanned experience. Our wait staff was friendly, the pizza was made fresh, the crust was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and our pretzel was made fresh. I tried their pickle beer, which paired well with Tajin. And outside seating. I will be back very soon.

Ive been coming to freetail since yall opened. I absolutely love the servers and bartenders Orlando, Colbri, and Caleb at S presa location. The only complaint I have is the chili. I love chili, but this has got to be the worst chili Ive ever tasted. Cinnamon does not belong in chili. Love the beers as well.

Large venue, plenty of seating and parking space. They have a full kitchen and and the food looks delicious, I wasnt hungry,so I didnt have anything to eat. I did have a couple of the Soul Doubt IPAs. It weighs in at 65 IBUs, so its definitely on the hoppy side. Has a nice patio/outdoor space, but its not covered, so depending on weather it might not be the best option. They do have a lot of beer options, from sours to IPAs and even beer cocktails.

The gem has been sitting just around the corner from downtown for how long??? I heard about their incredible lunch specials and found out its all true!! Many people greeting us as we entered. We got to pick a table and our server was quick, attentive and very polite. I ordered the $8.50 lunch special (which has a lot of choices) I chose the Greek salad and Tomato basil soup. I actually laughed out loud when the server brought my food to the table as I couldnt believe the very large portions on a lunch special!! The salads freshness perfectly complimented the very large bowl of soup. I loved the lightness of the soup as well, so many tomato basil soups are overloaded with milk and creams etc. this one had all the right flavors in just the right places. Lunch special perfection price and food!!!

We have been to the Freetail location in North San Antonio on many occasions and have always enjoyed that location. I will admit that this south Presa location is excellent as well. $8.00 for a beer directly from the brewer is a complete rip-off. Just buy a 6 pack for $10 at HEB. Wont be returning. This place isnt the Moons Daughter. Edit (response to owner): I expect a beer directly from the manufacturer to cost less than the same beer sold at a retailer with distribution fees and retail mark-up. I expect a place located in a sub-par location to be priced according to the areas standard. For $8 to be a great deal, youd need an exceptional atmosphere. I gladly pay $8 for a beer at El Mirasol or Bohanans, but this is far from a culinary destination. This location isnt even a brewery anymore, so youve thrown away that price hiking gimmick. 2nd response to owner: your employees live off tips. $8/beer is atrocious. This is a really good place to eat and enjoy a local beer!! We live in the neighborhood and decided to eat here on a whim during a walk. It was a good decision! We enjoyed the atmosphere and service. Best beer in SA! Come get your bat wings. Thier gastropub food pairs nicely with their beers. Pizza, salads, sandwich type food. Their outdoor covered seating is dog friendly. Ask for guidance or samples when trying to decide which beer to quaff. They cycle through their different brews often, and they have seasonal varieties, too. Find one you like and buy a refillable growler to take home. Batt out of Helles and the Conservesa are my favorites, but they are all delicious. Prosit!

***Disclaimer: their website claims they offer free tours every Saturday at 3 and 5 but this was not accurate for the South Presa St location. We arrived at 2:50 for a tour along with a number of other people and the bartender didn t seem to know what we were talking about. There was no way to schedule a tour on the site and the brewing area was dark and empty - a bit odd. However! The beer itself is delicious and the atmosphere is laid back and fun. They have a lot of games and an outdoor space for cooler weather.

Nice hangout spot. Very chill and entertaining atmosphere. I wasnt too impressed by the beer, though. I had two different beers, gose and an IPA, and maybe those two just werent for me. The gose was a little too salty, even for a gose, and I didnt get that blast of hops in my nose or on my palate with the IPA. Nonetheless, they have a nice selection of beers and I wouldnt mind going back to try something different.

So, Im gonna give a real up front and honest review. I went for a wrestling event in January of 2020. I paid for a second row seat. I learned real quick that I wasted my money. No ushers, no order, just a free for all. We ended up in the back but the view wasnt too bad. There are no real reservations but you will pay a higher price 4 seating as advertised. I dont mind paying more for this. No seat numbers, no one is controlling where the crowd sits, nothing. Just the people at the doors that put a band on your wrist. The wrestling promotions (RCW & impact) did a great job as usual. Great show. The gals running the bar where kind of snobby but that was kind of expected given the type of place. The menu is a bit confusing and misleading if you dont frequent these type of places... They get annoyed if you ask more than a few questions but anyway. We managed to find a couple of seats to watch the show next to some guys in the very back by the trash can. We enjoyed the show. The bar closes at 10. The show ended at 11. I had no idea they did that. No beer for the main event . Hmm. Maybe thats better. Its overpriced anyway. I will likely never go back to this place again. I will advise my co-workers to do the same. It is a nice place and I like the idea but zero order for the event. A clusterfu k for a lack of better terms. Hopefully the wrestling promotion will go back to retama park or another place where there are actual ushers and assigned seats and you get what you pay for.

The beer is certainly pleasant, but a visit to the taproom is more about the engagement with the people behind the beer. On this measure the experience comes in far below the beer itself. The staff seemed more interested in their own devices than the people present. Low to no customer engagement. Freetail has a great looking taproom with a view of the brewery. Oath Keeper was an excellent Tripel! Bat Out of Helles is always solid. I tried the X anniversary ale, I didn t care for it. This beer just was not in my wheel house. Others would probably love it. Surprisingly when I told them that it wasn t my taste they replaced it with a different beer. Great customer service!!!!

Always a great stop on a downtown bike ride. Good variety of beers, games and plenty of indoor seating. They host a lot of events and often have food trucks. Good place and fun taproom.

Quiet little place with great beer. As most craft places these days, more IPAs than others but a nice variety of rotating beers...brown ale, saison, stout, pilsner, etc. Spacious and friendly/knowledgeable staff. All kinds of folks there (dont fear the hipsters!). Def recommend for a wind-down/chill session.

We visited a few breweries in the San Antonio area, and this location (2000 Presa) became our go-to place during our two month visit. The beer was very solid, and we absolutely enjoyed the staff. Thanks for making our visit to San Antonio so enjoyable!!

Went for a local wrestling event River City Wrestling. The parking was free, and the tickets were reasonable ($20). They accept cash/ credit. The event of course had a variety of beers, some snacks, drinks. The event was kid friendly and to be honest wasnt really expected to have such a fun time. Would definitely go again!
