I ve been coming here at least once a week for the past 3 years and this is honestly the best bar in San Antonio. The bar tenders are all knowledgeable and skilled. Craft cocktails come out fast than tequila soda s at a dive bar. Always quality. Jenn, Miguel and the rest of the staff are always welcoming and friendly. As a bartender myself, whenever a local or a tourist asks me what the move is, I strongly recommend this bar!!

Great cocktails. Nice ambiance. The music inside is way too loud for a cocktail lounge. And although there is a dress code policy, its clearly not being enforced ( t shirts and shorts at a high end cocktail bar? Really?). Bartenders and staff are friendly.

The place is pretty clean for the most part. Drinks are not crazy priced for the area , about $15 per drinking , give or take a couple bucks depending on the specials. On busy nights drink quality goes down a little bit and getting drinks is almost a joke but thats a given when its shoulder to shoulder with not enough bar top to order. Live music is pretty good. It is definitely a good place to start the night for a few drinks or end it. Overall 8.7/10 bar. Nice high end drinks; Good atmosphere (when not overly crowded); Friendly service.

My wife, friends, and I, a party of five, visited this bar last night. Upon arrival, we were courteously greeted by the staff member checking IDs. The establishment was not crowded, suggesting that the evening s festivities had yet to commence. However, we noticed a group of four or five staff members who seemed more engrossed in their own conversations than in attending to the patrons. Despite our presence at the bar for over ten minutes, not a single staff member acknowledged us or offered service. As we decided to leave, we noticed another bar area that was yet to open, with about four more staff members present. I expressed my disappointment to one of them, stating that being ignored while the staff socialized was unacceptable. Ironically, they missed out on a substantial amount of business, as we had planned to spend generously that night. Instead, we took our business to the RIM area across the street, which offers a plethora of superior options. In summary, this bar was a disappointment, filled with staff who appeared aloof and uninterested in providing service. I would advise potential patrons to steer clear of this establishment.

Rude bartender who judged us before even talking to us. You have 4-5 beers on draft. If someone asks what you have on draft, you don t need to act like an *** and point me to a menu. Then was rude to my wife as well. As a former server, I tip well and still tipped this guy 20% but c mon sir be more professional. Had a poor experience at George s Keep. Unsure on what has happened to the adult ambience, but it felt like a teenage club. Loud music, screaming/yelling, and pushing/shoving. It s unfortunate to see such an elegant venue become something I d find on St. Mary s. Service was awful, was able to obtain two seats at the bar, and was entirely ignored by the bartenders (they seemed like novices). Overall, felt disrespected. We instead went to Ruth s Chris Steak House and was greeted to INCREDIBLE service, relaxing music, and delicious (although pricey) drinks. Unfortunately disappointed.

Love this place. The atmosphere has a great vibe- part speakeasy part pub-ish. DJ usually killing it at the downstairs bar area. Phenomenal happy hour, lovely outdoor patio area to relax with friends -especially when the bloody heat wave calms down- is a great place to relax after work. The staff is fantastic, always friendly and courteous. Ask for the house shots- they re addictingly tasty, not to mention the other house drinks. Definitely the place for either the start, the middle, or the end of the night. 10/10 highly recommend

This place made me super claustrophobic and like I was in a trap. First, for not being in a basement. The ceiling is really really low. Second, theres no ventilation. Third, no windows. The only way in and out and walkways are only wide enough for one person to walk thru at a time. I didnt stay long enough to try drinks, it just didnt feel safe. If anything like a fire ever happened there God forbid, I dont think anyone in there would be able to get out.

Not in the slightest what I was expecting. My wife went several years before we met, and often spoke highly of Georges Keep as a cute, comfortable, cozy bar where she had a great time. One weekend evening, I went with my wife and a couple friends to check Georges Keep out. Immediately ahead of us in line was a hammered-drunk girl trying to explain that her ID was elsewhere and the bouncer turned her and her friend away. So the bouncer was absolutely doing his job, but none of us expected this to be a bar that had a bouncer. Next thing we notice is theres a dress code, which is weird for a bar to begin with; nothing as absurd as a few downtown San Antonio bars dress codes with arbitrary no boots rules or similar. Whatever, none of us were violating the dress code. We went inside, and none of the bar staff looked up or greeted us. Maybe they were busy preparing cocktail fruit and didnt notice us. Again, whatever. We wandered until we found a booth and sat down to start looking at the drink menu. Several of the cocktails seemed very interesting, with noteworthy mentions containing sake, mezcal, strange juice combinations, etc. We tried discussing the menu with each other, but the blasting club music made conversation impossible. I dont know why this quasi-English Pub place is blasting club music, but its distracting from the atmosphere that so many reviews claim Georges Keep has, and does not at all fit the quiet, cozy, belongs-in-The-Shire vibe that my wife remembered and described so fondly. After several moments sitting in the noise, my group decided it was best to leave, and not even attempt to order drinks. The aesthetic of Georges Keep is not in keeping with blasting club music, and I know I would have had a bad time had we stayed. I expected peaceful, Lord of the Rings-type music, fully expecting to be transported to The Shire by Celtic tin whistle and lively fiddle music, not accosted by Monsta X, Marshmello, or A$AP Rocky. None of the patrons were club dancing, as there isnt a dance floor. Nobody was jamming to DJ Khalid or Pitbull. The other patrons of the bar were just standing around. If there is ever a time of day/week that isnt Skrillex or Latto, Id be interested in returning to Georges Keep. But if its House, Trance, EDM, Hip Hop, count me out. Completely doesnt fit the way this place looks at all. Im still interested in trying some of the unique cocktails, but not in that environment. No thank you.

George s Keep is a hidden gem among the bar scenes here in San Antonio. My friends and I love to drink this cocktail called FRESA 75 and the bartenders at George s Keep are the only one who really make it right & the price point is just right. I recommend coming here even on the weekdays especially if you just want to have good drinks with colleagues or friends after work and still be able to hear each other. They also have outdoor seating which is a plus. Such a good vibe inside.

We always came here and always had good service. That has changed until the security guy viciously grabbed my boyfriend and tried grabbing his vape out of his hand. He accused us of having a illegal substance and using it on premise. That is not true at all and it was just a regular vape. He got upset because we called him out for seeing us walk past him and already having a few drinks. He should had I.D us before we even entered the establishment. Who knows, minors could had gotten in easily and already gotten drunk. We will be seeking legal action.

Drinks were interesting, delicious, and reasonably priced. It s a little hidden but the atmosphere was great! Happy hour selection and pricing was better than most! Will definitely be back!

Pricey but worth every single penny, drinks are like candy and strong!! Get there before 10pm, it gets very crowded and you won t find a spot to sit or stand.

The staff and bartenders are welcoming. As someone who doesnt drink alcohol the bartender was able to make a mocktail from their menu selection and didnt seem bothered (most places get annoyed when they dont have mocktails on their menus). The mocktail was great and they really care for the craft. I had a great time with my friends due to the ambiance.
