I eat here every Monday night dodor their meatloaf special. alwaya delicious. Learning waitresses by first name and vice versa makes die an even more home rypet environment .never had a bad mal at any other the Jims restaurants around down. Very consistent food quality at every location. I look toward to every meal regardless of what I order. Been eating at Jims since I was a little boy 60+ years.

I revisited this establishment this morning, 8/11/24, for breakfast. If you havent visited a Jims recently, I encourage you to visit on and eat just one meal. Be it breakfast, lunch, or dinner? O ce you step inside youll feel like your visit an old 1950s to 1970s diner because of the atmosphere inside. I assure you the staff is friendly, courteous, and professional. They will get your order accurate and to you in a timely manner. This morning, I had the senior pancake breakfast. It comes with 2 good-sized pancakes, an egg made to your order, and a choice of bacon or sausage. Ive also put some pictures in this post to indicate other things that weve (me and my guests) have ordered before; like a club sandwich or French toast. Whatever it may be, theres a good chance that Jims serves will serve it to you, and it is tasty and reasonably priced. I hope that when you visit, your experience is as good as mine. Parking: If you can not find a place to park in front of the restaurant, look around back as there should be ample parking in this location. Wheelchair accessibility: There are wheelchair ramps up to the main entrance.

Really a great place! Every time we come to San Antonio, we come to Jims. Excellent food and service, senior friendly. If you like pies/cakes this is the place. Try the lemon meringue, its fantastic. I would highly recommend it if you want great food, great time and great service

What a difference 3 miles makes! Visited here and waited 15 minutes and was never served. We were greeted at the door, told to sit anywhere and waited.... And waited... The store was not busy and there was plenty of kitchen staff. We drove 3 miles down to another Jims and was greeted by nearly everyone there. Barely sat down before the server was smiling and taking our drink orders.

I wish I could provide a great review but unfortunately my sister and I did not receive service after sitting for about 20 minutes. We watched 3-4 parties sit themselves and waiters came to serve them immediately. There was a dirty booth behind us and a waiter walked by us, cleaned the booth, and personally sat another customer. We received 0 greetings as we walked in and 0 when we left. Just nothing! I don t want to play the race card here however we were the only black customers in the entire restaurant and it was Juneteenth We aren t from Texas but EVERYONE knows how yall get down here with racism and politics. We were out of towners and our hotel was close enough to make a quick stop for breakfast before heading to the airport. This place seems like it s been here for awhile and they clearly have seen multiple culture shifts throughout their years. However, I don t think they plan to change ANYTHING (restaurant or mindset wise). My sister and I didn t take treatment seriously tbh. We laughed and teased the restaurant by calling it Jim Crow because that s exactly how it felt. Please teach your staff about respect no matter who they are serving. We definitely won t be back but let s be honest you all wouldn t care either way. Good luck with your establishment.

Im a little surprised at Jims. It has always been one of the icon restaurants in San Antonio known for good food. It seems that ever since COVID-19 restaurants all over have gone downhill. The tea we got wea sour had to send it back, and we exchanged for a Dr. Pepper, as we didnt want to take a chance on the tea again. We had to get another order of fries as ours were cold and old. The waitresses were very pleasant and quick to make corrections. It is an older restaurant and could use some upgrades.

I was reluctant to write such a negative review but this has to be done. I grew up with Jim s especially in the 70s. We would hang out after our high school football and basketball games and the food and atmosphere was the best. This is not the same Jim s. I very disappointed with the food, service and atmosphere. We had to wait 40 minutes for our hamburgers and that was because I had to remind our server about our food. The chili on my burger was cold and it looked like they made it a couple of days ago. I took two bites and that was it. My mom s burger was good and she ate it. The server never refilled our tea or asked if we needed anything. I had to wave him down a couple time to get his attention. Then when I wanted to order a slice of pie for my mom. My waiter was no where in sight. I asked a waitress if I could order a slice a pie and she said yes but did nothing. I asked her about the pie and she just walked by. I went pay and told her to forget the pie. I m standing at the counter waiting to pay and no one came to the register. I saw the manager and asked him if I could pay and he said to please wait because he was filling to go orders. Also, the place is run down. Old furniture and carpet. Restrooms were dirty. The place did not look inviting at all. Very very disappointing experience and I will never return to any Jim s.

One of the best remaining Jims Restaurants in SA! Busy on a Sunday afternoon when we came, but we were seated quickly and we had good service. My husband is a big fan of breakfast and this is one of the few places you can have a full breakfast with omeletes, hash browns, pancakes, & French toast at 3pm! Everything served was hot and fresh. I was especially impressed with the freshness of the fruit on our pancakes. Definitely recommend this Jims Restaurant location!

The food all tasted great, what killed our visit was the service. We initially waited a little over ten minutes just to be greeted and handed a menu. Our food came in a reasonable time, but after that the waiter continously walked by us never checking in. I could not even get a refill until after I finished my meal and she brought the check finally asking if I needed anything else, when she hadnt checked in prior to this. I could understand if the diner was busy, but it was not busy during our visit and they had multiple waiters all walking around seeming to do the same thing.

Arrived around 7:45pm on a Monday evening, the restaurant had a few diners,but I was seated quickly. I ordered the Monday special which was meatloaf with two sides. The wait time was less than 10 minutes for my dinner to arrive. The meatloaf is a large piece covered with a sweet and tangy sauce, it has a certain flavor by itself but went well with the meatloaf. The plate was very satisfying, I couldnt find a weak spot on this dinner or experience. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly. The cooks were sending other diners plates rather quickly too. This is an older Jims but well worth the visit.

We went to Jim s last night because it used to be a late night spot, and we arrived at 9:58PM. One member of staff said he would be with us shortly and almost immediately another member of staff said we are closed, we close at 10PM. So a lesson on hospitality and communication can be had here. You don t ever turn business away, even if you are closed or closing with your doors still open, and kitchen is still cranking out food for tables who are still waiting on their orders, as was the case last night. The right answer is you let your guest decide by informing the guest that you are closing now but we can get you seated, to which I would definitely not want to be seated so as to not impose. Let your guest who walked in the door, technically before closing, decide if he wants to be rude and be seated or not. Maybe I just wanted a cup of coffee and a place to chat with my dining partner and would have tipped well. You just never know what type of person you are turning away. I hope the management reads this. Closed at 10 is not closed at 9:58 even if it s rude and annoying for a customer to do that.

Okay, the restaurant probably needs a face lift and some interior refreshing, but the food is good. We visited Saturday (3 Feb) morning at 0630 and met some friends of ours for breakfast. Or server, Alicia, was awesome. I had blueberry pancakes with 2 overeasy eggs and the food was nice and hot and the eggs were perfect. The pancakes were big and fluffy. I like Jims for breakfast and wish the location at I-10 and Hebner was as good as the airport location. Thank you Alicia!

My husband and I come here quite often during our lunch breaks. Today was not a good day at Jims. Our food order was not taken till after 30 minutes. Once are food arrived it was someones elses order. We had been waiting now waiting for an hour to eat. We asked the waitress at this point to make our lunches to go. No managers appeared to be present to handle and direct what was going wrong today. No apologies were given to us. We each had to eat our lunch at work with no soda to drink since we werent even offered if we can take our drinks in to go cups. I would have given a worse rating if it werent for the many other times the food and service were good. However I do believe the measure of a good restaurant is how well they handle bad service and what they do to make up for it. No discounts offered, no apologies for the long delay with food coming out, no one took ownership of their bad service. I still did tip the waitress since it is not her fault for the delay in the kitchen but I was hoping for her to at least apologize for how horrible this turned out. If it werent for my husband being diabetic and needing to eat. Along with my sister wanting her to go order, I would have canceled the order and taken my business somewhere else.

A San Antonio staple. Jims on Broadway. We were greeted and seated. Most of the employees that saw us walk in smiled and said morning. Coffee, orange juice, and water were our beverages. Chili with eggs and the Tx two step were ordered. Food came put fast and hot. I forgot how good their chili is. Eggs were cooked Sunnyside up, bacon was not burnt but not overly crispy, pancakes were fluffy and big. A good thick serving of hash browns. The outside was toasted nicely, but the middle was just luke warm. Its still good, but flatter hash browns, it would have toasted all of it. The employees were on top of it. We owe a debt of gratitude to our friends, native San Antonians, for introducing us to this culinary treasure. The coffee was quintessentially diner-style: robust, good, and served piping hot. Our waitress was the epitome of hospitality, exuding kindness and patience. The ambiance of Jims, what Id describe as diner quaint, was utterly charming and contributed significantly to our experience. Our groups order was a delightful array of classic diner breakfasts, including the Chicken Fried Steak Breakfast with hash browns, perfectly cooked over medium eggs, and English muffins; several plates of Huevos Rancheros & Sausage complemented with biscuits and tortillas; uncomplicated yet satisfying eggs and bacon; and a scrumptious Ham and Cheese Omelet. Came here very early in the morning for breakfast before a day of appointments in San Antonio. The moment we walked in we were warmly greeted and told to sit wherever we wished. The waiter took our order promptly and was really excellent. The food was delicious and exactly what you would want: fresh, good options, good prices. All of the staff were really nice with children too, which is always good to see Parking: Large parking lot Kid-friendliness: Staff were so welcoming of kids, including bringing crayons to the table

Has breakfast here today and could not have received better service. They have a full menu and environment was clean. I wish I could have put Doris, my server, in a to-go box. She is excellent and a true credit to the Jims Restaurant brand.

Today was the first time in sometime that I was completely disappointed. The food was just cold and the bread for the burger was old. I was at work which is the airport. Not more than 3 mins away. Oh yeah I also didnt get my onion rings.
