Living overseas spoiled me, but the beef bulgogi tasted exactly how I remember and the cucumber kimchi is fresh, crunchy and perfectly spicy. Service was friendly and attentive to any needs I had. Will definitely be coming back to try the rolls!

Nakamuras is the epitome of a classic hole-in-the-wall gem! The wait staff is always smiling, always friendly, and definitely on top of the never-empty drink glass! The sushi prep was top notch, made by the proprietors wife. The owner, Sam, is actually Korean, and the menu reflects that. There are some Korean favorites, like homemade kimchee (we got to sample the cabbage and the cucumber styles, both DELICIOUS!), bulgogi box, and bibimbap. Sam is sharp, got a wicked sense of humor, and is a pleasure to interact with. When I said hole-int-the-wall, I meant it! The shop is pretty much no frills, but the few decorations present are tasteful, and placed just-so, giving the space a comfortable and inviting vibe. The prices are about on par with what they should be. Some items are a little more expensive than normal, some less so, so it pretty much works out. It would be hard to go wrong eating here. Great food, great atmosphere, and reasonable prices and combine to make for an excellent, entertaining, and delicious lunch. Seriously, why are you still sitting there reading this? Get on over to Nakamuras!!

Great sushi, great korean food, best staff, just good vibes overall. 312TRS folks, they love us here and so we show the love back, please come here. If you ever get the chance to interact with the waiter Jon and the owners Mr Sam and Ms G, theyre amazing people who really care if youre enjoying the food. We ordered the pork bulgogi box, beef bulgogi box, Dol sot bibimbap, and crazy girl roll. But truly, everything is good and eats DOWN! Food so good, they be fighting. Big backs, unite!

I love coming here, never had a problem before. Yet the other day was a terrible experience, they brought out the wrong food, had to remake it. They did offer us an eggroll as we waited for the food to remade, we declined. Being very polite and just having a good time talking before our food came out. It did finally come out, amazing food. But our drinks never got a refill, we waited for about twenty minutes after we were done eating for Togo boxes, and my Togo drink that was offered to me was never brought. Everyone else had a book with their check in, they gave us a slip only, and instead of paying at the table like everyone else we had to go upfront to pay. The lady server was taking care of every table, but ignored us and even went to a table that came in after us multiple times. I understand that maybe we weren t her table, since the two were bantering off on whose table where who s. But the male server didn t show back up until we were already checking out up front. I kind of suspect he was eating the wrong food order instead of going up front to check on his tables. The food quality was still amazing, but we will not be dining in for a very long time. We left feeling very disappointed, since it was supposed to be a treat for us going out.

Probably won t be coming back. Came in 30 minutes before closing to grab Togo food with my coworkers, the server took drink orders while we looked at menus and went to the back and we heard her say, these guys are covered in tattoos I can t tell them no to the other staff while getting our drinks. We immediately stood up and walked out feeling uncomfortable. Try not to judge a book by its cover.

As the original owner of Nakamura back from 2007 I am glad to see the place still open. The sushi menu part was still pretty much the same as when I wrote the menu so it s nice to see my family names still used on the rolls. It was nice to see some the things I picked out for the restaurant many years ago still there. It s somewhat cluttered and could use a scrub down. The food was good but the wait staff was lacking in tentativeness to our needs.

The best Korean food Ive had in San Angelo. The food is always good and I always love their rice dishes and their bento boxes. I usually go once or twice a week bc this dish is one of my favorites and I enjoy it every time. They have really good service and the ambiance is really cool. Plus, if you are a fan of kdramas or kpop they have TVs and music to further enjoy the experience. The only thing I would like for them to add to their menu would be like smoothies or different tea flavors but other than that everything is great! 10/10 recommend

No AC in restaurant. Waitor and waitress said owner doesnt like to run air conditioning. Service was not that great. Food was good as long as you like to sweat while you eat. I love this place. Very fresh fish and they give you a hefty amount of food no matter what you order in my experience. Sushi rolls are large with generous amount of ingredients in them. It s little pricey in the sense I can t eat there every day, or else I would, but for fresh fish and sushi, I believe it is more than reasonable. Service was pleasant and you can tell the chef takes pride in his work from the times I ve interacted with him. Definitely recommend! I personally love their chicken teriyaki and for those who love sashimi, you should try the Chirashi bowl. Can t wait to eat there again.

3 stars only because the food was actually good. The service, on the other hand was lousy. Young. Definitely young service. I had to stop the server several times as she passed by busily doing nothing and ask for more water, napkins, and fork. It was very slow and she just stood there half the time staring at the TV. They require a service fee as well if you pay with card. I wont be going back to dine in which is a shame because the food was actually pretty good.

I went here around 6pm with my girlfriend and once we walked in nobody greeted us for about 5 minutes despite there being wait staff available doing nothing. After sitting down for 10 minutes we were finally asked what we wanted to drink and we decided to order right there because it would have been a while before we got the chance again to order. A woman at a table in front of us was there with 3 children and was trying to get a waiters attention for her check for 30 minutes. During those 30 minutes we were waiting on our miso soup which never came because the waiter simply forgot. Our food came after 45 minutes (understandable for a sushi restaurant) and was absolutely amazing. It is a disservice to the chef for the restaurant to have such horrible waiters. We will not be returning to this restaurant.

Hands down, the best sushi spot in San Angelo. The outward appearance of the restaurant doesnt make you thing think excellent sushi but dont let that throw you. The miso soup is my favorite starter and I cannot say enough good things about the staff. I ordered a plate so I could try a few different rolls this time. At first, I was disappointed to see the Veggie roll but THAT was amazing too! Anytime friends and family come to town, I bring them here. I have always loved Nakamura and have gotten their Chicken Bulgogi Box at least 20 times in my life. They never forget anything in my take out order. It is all always there. Ate there multiple times and I never had issues. Today however, was terrible. Our server was so bad. She gave us our food and after that she did not come back. After waiting 20 minutes for a ticket I finally had to find her and tell her we were ready to go. We gave her our cards and to our surprise it took her over 25 minutes to give us our cards back. We thought she was stealing our information because we have never waited that long before to get our cards back. My friend and I were really surprised about this, and we were really disappointed. The lady never apologized and just said we our busy. The people sitting behind us was also mad because the same waiter forgot to give them drinks. Our server had short brown her and was middle aged. Id only been to Nakamura once. I went there with my friends yesterday. All three of us, agreed that the staff was really friendly and everything was great until I got my food and took the first bite. I ordered Japchae, a Korean type of noodles mix with veggies, meat and sauce. It was so very sweet! I chose beef to go with my noodles, and finding a piece of meat in there was like finding a needle in a haystack. My roommates Bibimbap, was nowhere better. She even had less meat than I did. We each paid about $10 for a good meal and were expecting something great. Even if the food cant be authentic, it could have had a decent amount of topping and it shouldnt be so sweet. The sweetness still lingered inside me after hours. Other foods and sushi might be good, but I wouldnt recommend Japchae and Bibimbap for sure!

Don t miss this little place! Ate here for supper 10/16/20. It was busy. Lots of take out orders being picked up by eager diners. Small dining room. Friendly staff and quick service. Everything was delicious. Conveniently located at the end of a busy strip mall. Close to shopping and hotels. Highly recommend.

To get the full Nakamura experience, you will need to dine in. We made the mistake of ordering take out during the hight of COVID a few months back and havent been back since. The service was horrible, the food portions were small and our order wasnt correct. We decided to give them another shot based on high recommendations from friends. This time we ate far away from others and tried again. Im so glad we did!! The woman working there is so nice and helpful! The portions were way better and everything we ordered tasted better than expected! We will be back very soon!

Used DoorDash for this, I ordered a California roll, sweet and sour chicken with fried rice, and chicken fried rice. I received shrimp fried rice, sweet and sour chicken with steamed rice, and a (good) California roll. DoorDash made it clear that the restaurant is responsible for the mix up. Very unhappy due to a shellfish allergy so we had to figure out something else to eat for the person who ordered the chicken fried rice. Also very small portions for the price on plates I love their sushi but if the plates can t be depended on, we re not going back

This place is FIRE, absolutely delicious food! The chef is an artisan in his craft. Our sushi was perfect and exactly what we were expecting. If youre looking for sushi while in San Angelo, do not pass this place up. Come in, sit down, get a bottle of saki and prepare for amazing food.

Love love love this place!!!! I had the Hibachi stir fry with beef and the Scandinavian Roll with Eel sauce it was all to die for!!!!! My son had the Pork Bulgogi and the Spider Roll!! Absolutely the best!! You get good portions while eating in but if you order it to go I feel like you get about half or a little over half of the actual bowl size if you had eaten in. Example of this is that I ate in and ate half of my Hibachi bowl then got the rest to go and that half barely fit in their to go container but the next time I ordered it to go and picked up and it was the same size to go container filled up but yet my half eaten had filled it up last time so I feel like were losing some if get it to go. It was still great though just felt that if you get half maybe pay a little cheaper but if I pay same amount then feel should get the same amount. They need regular to go containers not the size that fits a sub or hotdog lol. But would definatly recommend this place!!! I wish I could eat here every day!!! Also I will say that for myself and my son with what we got above plus drinks I paid 40 something dollars close to 50 so make sure you are expecting that. Also sodas cost per soda so best not to get the soda, its a can soda. And I wouldnt go during the rush hours like lunch and dinner cause may wait to be seated. UPDATE: They did get normal to go containers, awesome! And now they have fountain machine and you get refills for free!! So this #1 place for us!!!!

I have eaten here several times with my wife and each time, the sushi was excellent. The variety was plentiful and they were made with perfection. Some of the sushi dishes are rather large, so be prepared to split it with a friend if you do not eat much.

Bummed to leave this type of review, after all the others. Went here on a dinner date with my wife for our 14 year wedding anniversary. Grace ... the name of our server... how do I know this.. it was on the receipt. Never introduce herself, or really never engaged in any type of conversation outside of drink order, food order and delivering the check. Very unengaged. My wife sample 2 wines and never had the opportunity for a 3rd as they did not ask if she would like anything to drink after the 2nd sample. Sushi was fresh but bland. Not a lot of flavor. Been eating sushi for a very long time and expected a much better experience. Wont be back and will for sure not suggest this for a night out away from the kiddos.
