I was on the hunt for good Chinese food in Austin and stumbled upon SPICE Garden, an Indo-Chinese gem! The lunch experience was fantastic food and a welcoming ambiance that reminded me of the flavors I enjoyed in Kolkata. We had the lunch deal, which was great value with a starter, soup, and entrée served with fried rice. The portions were generous, and every bite was delicious. This restaurant is Amazing!! I happened upon it awaiting an optometrist appointment located a few doors down. I walked in around 1ish just exploring however I chose to order some food after receiving a warm and welcoming greeting from this unusually kind and patient gentleman that I assumed to be the manager or owner. First impressions are lasting. I informed him that I was a first time visitor and was unfamiliar with the fusion concept. He explained the concept so I decided to give it a try. I have food allergies and eat primary whole foods therefore I asked if I could have something that was all vegetables, no gluten, no soy, no curry, no dairy, no MSG and no heavy sauce. He said YES!!!...and with a smile! He said that they would prepare to my liking!! He also stated that they receive everything fresh daily. One more important note...what I requested wasnt on the menu!! He added it to the menu!! The food was magnificent!! Im one of those people who will dance in their seat when eating flavorful and magnificently prepared food as it speaks to the Love placed in the preparation!! I will definitely visit this restaurant again...my new Fav Vegetarian options: Very accommodating Dietary restrictions: They will prepare to your liking...very accommodating as everything is made fresh!

Amazing taste, quality and quantity. We made a last minute reservation, and they were able to accommodate us on a busy Friday night. The food here is excellent, and the portions are generous. We sampled both Chinese and Indian dishes, starting with egg drop soup and fried dumplings. Incredible food at affordable prices. However, the main guy who works the front is so negative that I wont be eating here anymore. He often ignores people who come in and only acknowledges them when they approach him. He frequently lies and tells guests that the kitchen closes in 5 minutes, causing them to either leave or feel rushed. He ignores the tables he should be waiting on. On separate occasions, Ive brought friends and family to Spice Garden because the food is so good; both times, people have commented on how rude the host is. The man is seriously such a drain on the atmosphere. He clearly does not want to be working there - I hope the owner sets him free someday soon. I have no doubt that the poor customer service mentioned in almost all negative reviews is due to this one guy.

Luckily we were in the mood for some soup, and came across this gem! The food is beyond fresh and perfectly prepared! Its been a while since I find that everything we order, which its usually quite a bit (to be able to try different things and then enjoy leftovers later) was amazing! We would come back for each and every single thing we ordered. The lamb curry (only at a medium heat) was just SO savory and believe it or not (for me) the heat was not only tolerable but it made the taste even better. The owner took time to swing by our table - Farhan (I hope Im spelling it correctly, I apologize if I did not), the owner swung by our table to see if we enjoyed the meal. I greatly appreciated it wasnt just a check the box and but engaging! We even learned the chef is his son-in-law - which we joked about and Farhan joined in on the banter.... We MUST try the Mongolian beef, as Farhan informed us, its the best thing on the menu! We had ordered too much, if not we would have added some Mongolian beef to go, lol. Farhan also explained that his son-in-laws thing is to cook and serve only fresh ingredients - I CAN attest the fresh (and NOT frozen, as Farhan explained) was beyond noticeable - thank you!!! As I wrote this while at the restaurant and to put the cherry on top we were so full, when Farhan swung by our table to see if we wanted dessert. Honestly, we were stuffed but Farhan actually offered to bring us a dessert on the house; Gulab Jamun - and WOW!!!!!! The son-in-law does it again!!!! Ordered food through their website and waited for delivery. After not receiving food at their estimated 6:50pm delivery, I called the restaurant. They stated the driver arrived but no one was available to receive order. I thought it was weird because I was here the entire time. Didn t receive a phone call or email. For a minute we confirmed delivery address and phone number at this point he said that he ll have someone deliver shortly. I got a phone call back that the driver isn t going back and that I would need to go to the restaurant (which was impossible for me to do, the reason why I ordered for delivery). I told him I couldn t, he was told me that I wouldn t able to get a refund and that I needed to come pick up my order. I had to call my credit card company to dispute the charge. We had Indo-Chinese food here for dinner today and really enjoyed everything we ordered. This was by far one of the best Indo-Chinese food we ve eaten in US. Everything was mild spicy and delicious. Menu being in your phone is super annoying and makes it hard to stack up a list of items you want, would have been inclined to order more if it was all in front of you. Had to switch browser to desktop mode to see it better. Drinks are bottles or cans, disappointing. Food was pretty good considering there is no awesome Chinese food in atx. Wish they had pad Thai. Its easily one of the best spots for halal chinese cuisine in the city. This restaurant consistently excels in quality, taste, and presentation. We ordered the chicken tacos for the first time and were pleasantly surprised at how good they were. I think its an instant favorite now. We also tried the dragon chicken - its flavorful, comes in generous portions, and never disappoints. It serves as a great starter. For our main course, we ordered the chicken Szechwan and szechwan fried rice. On the side, we ordered some nuggets and fries. The customer service is always fantastic and quick. These guys offer a handful of gluten free options. My favorite is the Burnt Garlic Fried Rice, delicious. For those that prefer a little heat, I order mine medium spicy which has a good kick yet is still enjoyable . My server Aqdas was very friendly and helpful ensuring my dish was indeed GF by checking with the chef/cook. The atmosphere is very nice. I drove all the way from Canada to visit my family and having my lunch here was the worst decision ever. Staff here is sooo rude and not welcoming. Food quantity is so less they serve you 3 dumplings for 9$ seriously . The person makes faces as if he is feeding us for free lol . I went tonight with three other people and everything we ordered was unbelievably delicious! Fast, fresh, and fantastic. Just based on what we ordered, I can recommend the following dishes: the fish pagoda appetizer (perfectly breaded tilapia and the sauce is fresh and creamy), the green Thai chicken curry (creamy, rich, and coconutty), the lamb curry (savory and hearty), and the butter chicken masala (such a classic dish and this place still went above and beyond). I will say that even though this is an Indo-Chinese restaurant, I believe their Indian dishes go above and beyond. That said, I highly doubt youll be disappointed regardless of what you order! Our experience here was absolutely amazing. We came at 10:05 pm and they welcomed us despite preparing to close at 10:30 pm. The waiters were incredibly helpful kept checking on us throughout. The menu incorporates a variety of Chinese and Pakistani food, which all tasted amazing. Definitely recommend the butterchicken and Mongolian beef.

Very delicious food. My brother brought take out and all items he got were absolutely delicious. Edit: food was indeed delicious when we went again this time to dine in. The server looked like he was on drugs or something. We were a party of 5 (3 adults and 2 kids) and he kept saying 6 people. Then the restaurant had the audacity to charge us a large group gratuity or $10? For what? Normally large group gratuity is for groups size 8 or larger. NOT for a group of 5 where 2 are KIDS! Food is good so I suggest doing take out but dine in is a no go for us.

I recently had an excellent experience at the Spice Garden. We held a Eid gathering here for about 50 people. This year, Eid ul-Adha, fell on the same day as Fathers Day. Needless to say, the restaurant was super busy that day, but they did an outstanding job accommodating our large group. Each family was able to place an order separately, even though they were all sitting with their own friends. The servers managed to organize everyones orders so that each family could pay for their own meals (this is a must when you have a large group of people). All orders were processed efficiently and in a timely manner. We all enjoyed the food, service and the great ambience. Irfan and team did a wonderful job and I highly recommend this place for any size gatherings.

The food is good but the customer service experience should be improved. My husband and I went for a week day buy 1 get 1 free special and ordered the Mongolian beef and fried rice. A good server would have mentioned that the fried rice would not qualify for the special, especially considering many people probably go for the special, but ours did not so we didn t realize until our check came. Also, been twice and both times the server is just kind of flat in energy. No warm welcome, strictly business.

Pathetic catering experience in terms of food and people. We placed a catering order with them and the food was not as per mark. The restaurant and catering food for the same item was so different. Good spot for indo Chinese food. We ordered the cumin chicken and veg lettuce cup. The cumin chicken was really well cooked and seasoned perfectly, with not much spice or oil which is the way we like it . The lettuce cups were okay, the filling was a bit oily for us but still tasted great. Ambiance is welcoming, service was a bit rushed although we ordered half hour before closing, but still was okay. Overall, would return for the great food .

The moment we reviewed the menu we knew this was place was going to be delicious and it even exceeded our expectations on flavor spice. I highly recommend the chicken Thai curry and any of the soups as an appetizer! The service was also amazing and helped us pick out the papad (which is sooo good)! They had me at spicy.. what I loved about this place is 1. I could get Indian food 2. My husband could get Chinese. Our server (male) cannot remember his name,but he was super helpful on the dishes. We had a bday dinner on May 26th with close to 17-18 ppl and right after that Sunday 5 of us got really badly sick with vomiting and upset stomach! I had to go to urgent care due to the severity of the sickness and was told it was due to a stomach bug, something I ate. Not sure if it was something in the food or the utensils or what! But this is definitely something that needs to be looked into! Precautions should be taken and clean and sanitized utensils and food should be served at all time. Definitely didn t have a pleasant experience as the food tasted okay.

The only issue I had from the place was the front doors were blacked out, so I couldn t tell if the business was closing down or under construction. It would be nice the front doors reflect the nice decor inside the establishment. The food was top notch! I had the chicken curry and it was done just right. Service was excellent. Update: Im downgrading them from 5 to just 1 star, not based on their food. The food is great. However, if you call to place an order to go, theyll ask you to go online! I have not come across a business that does that! I guess they are more intwrested in getting all your info than serving food. Alternately, you can go there and eat. I will not be ordering from them again. Original review: Its the best chinese restaurant I have been to in the US! I cannot believe it took me so long to come here, given that this restaurant is only 10 minutes from where we live! We ordered samosa, chowmein with paneer, kids butter garlic noodles with chicken, some beef dish and fried ice cteam. Everything was delicious. I will be a regular here. We went here for weekday lunch and enjoyed our food! Service was quick and we got seated right away. It was surprising to see the place empty during rush hour. Nut allergy friendly: Let your server know but there were no nuts in anything we tried. Order - to - Entree: 15-20 Minutes I placed a reservation for 7 on a Wednesday evening at 7:45 PM, which didnt seem needed because the restaurant was pretty empty. Dishes I tried: Kasmiri Lamb Rogan Josh (4/5): Effectively a slightly sweeter Lamb Curry with saffron flavors. I liked it better than the regular lamb Curry. Lamb Curry (3.5/5): Nothing special, not too spicy. Nice that it came with rice. Chicken 65 Fried Rice (1.5/5): Barely any chicken for what it is. Wouldnt recommend. Mongolian Beef (4/5): Solid, not spicy. Garlic Naan: Only came with two pieces for order, which is very little for the price in my opinion. Portions were decent. Id say one dish can be lightly shared with 2-4 people, or comfortably filling for one person. They do have a buy one get one discount entree at certain hours.

We just recently went to this place. Food was an average, outrageous price and an effortless customer service. Staff just didnt seem to care. The food was really very good and justifying of the high scores. The service was nonexistent. Worst service Ive had for a party of 9 ever. And adding insult to injury there was a mandatory gratuity for the group size. Ordered the chicken wings as an appetizer and one was dark red inside. Raw. I notified the waiter who said yeah thats pretty bad, I will inform the chef . No apologies, no visit to the table, no offer to take the item off the bill. We love the Spice Garden. We regularly order takeout from here but it was our first time sitting in the restaurant. The ambiance was nice and its probably the nicest indochinese place here in Austin Round Rock area. We ordered the lunch special: which is soup, a spring roll and your choice of entree with fried rice for $17pp. The fried rice was really good and soup was warm and comforting. The spring roll was fine and we liked the vegetable patties and the mixed veggies. The service was good and the owner was accommodating because the kitchen was about to close. He told us how business has been and how they have taken steps to improve service post COVID. When we get takeout we get the dry gobi manuchurian, the burnt garlic fried rice and paneer chilli or lettuce wraps. The overall rating is 5 stars!

We had aloo matar (peas, potatoes in a tomato sauce) and mongolian beef. The MB was lukewarm with decent flavor, but no sauce to soak up the rice with. The AM was tasty but again... no sauce! Our waiter spaced and never offered to bring condiments, which could have helped. But am I wrong to expect to absorb sauce with rice or naan in Indian or Chinese beef? I came here yesterday and ordered paneer butter masala but was served butter chicken instead. When I brought the issue to our servers attention he fought back by insisting several times that he read our order back to us, but Im certain that he didnt because I would have caught that mistake. Everything else we ordered was vegetarian. Our server was a bit rude and unwilling to admit the mistake or make it right, then did not check on our table again for water refills or anything else. We only received an apology when he brought us the check. The experience was unpleasant and we wont be returning. Our previous visit was good and the same server pressed us a couple times to give them a 5 star Google review as soon as possible, preferably while we were still sitting there, which I did at the time. Ive since deleted that review and suggest you keep that in mind when reading the other 5 star reviews for this place.

Our first visit today and it turned out to be a very bad experience. *Ordered kahari paneer and they gave kadai chicken* that we accidentally ended up tasting and then realizing it was not vegetarian. Lost appetite for rest of the night and we had to leave without eating. The manager confirmed the order in the system was right but the kitchen messed it up. Please pay more attention and put policies in place to ensure this doesn t happen to anyone again. A sorry doesn t cut it when it comes to such mistakes with food.
