AustIndia is a family owned restaurant that serves the most authentic Punjabi food you can find in North Austin. The owners are so friendly and go above and beyond to serve their customers. We had the privilege of having them cater for our Indian wedding in August and they were amazing to work with. They took a lot off of our plates working seamlessly with our wedding venue staff and coordinators. Our guests had nothing but the best words and reviews to say about their cooking. I highly highly recommend this restaurant for your catering and or dining needs. Thank you Ajay & Ravinder!!

LOST ME AS A REGULAR CUSTOMER TODAY. Sadly the quality and quantity of food has been going downhill. Biryanis have been meh so decided to try Lamb curry today, so sour and barely got 5 tiny lamb pieces after paying $18.99 plus tax. SUCH A WASTE OF MONEY!!! Food

Authentic food, staff, & atmosphere. I got the Goat Kadhai as my base, with some Amritsari Kulcha (spiced, stuffed bread) to dip/eat with. It got served with rice & I asked for water. As with any Hindu restaurant, I recommend that when they ask for the spice level to simply tell them that youd like it Desi Style, which is to say Authentic. I did so & it came out savory & delicious! The rice & kulcha was enough to eat all the curry, but I think an extra Naan item could have been a nice way to stretch the flavor. The water tasted great, which is to say they probably have a nice filter to get the tap water taste out. I got a Mango Lassi to go, it was sweet & creamy! Vegetarian options: Half the menu is vegetarian

A gem found for authentic north Indian food in Austin ! We have tried a lot of vegetarian options and all have come out as very tasty. Service is something I yearn , for rating a restaurant 5 star , and they surely have that vibe . The owner is welcoming and makes sure that the flow to serve every customer is maintained well. 5

Had a wonderful meal here last night. Good was excellent staff was super friendly! They have an online ordering system which I didn t love, I prefer traditional waiter service but that s just me. I can see why it can work well for them and some people may really like that. Overall though 5 stars all around!

The food was delicious but the young lady who waited on us was in a hurry. I ordered a drink and halfway through my drink she attempted to take it away without my permission. I odered a second drink and again she did the same thing. It was very annoying. She then discouraged my friend from ordering her own butter chicken. Because of my waitress I would not go back.

This is by far the best north indian punjabi food available in Austin area. So far we have had Amritsari kulche-choley, Palak Panner, Kadai Paneer, Veg Tikka masala, Panner Tikka masala, Veg Biryani, Alu-tikki chaat and few more 1. Amritsari kulche-choley - I have never had such delicious kulche, stuffing is mind boggling, choley is very refreshing just out of the world 2. Palak Panner - Best paneer, soft and such a great flavorful palakh 3.Veg Tikka masala, Panner Tikka masala - Authentic tikka (tandoor) flavor of veggies and paneer 4. Alu-tikki chaat - The best tikki so far. Very flavorful chaat 5. Veg Biryani - This stole the show. I never anticipated that in typical north indian restaurant, I would find authentic veg dum biryani. I tried three times and very consistent. I used to eat biryani only from India gate restaurant. This biryani is even better than India gate. I would still want them to add more authentic punjabi items such as Chhle Bhature, Rajma masala. Being vegetarian, the choices are quite limited. But, still much better north indian food than any other restaurant.

We have ordered here for take out and dined as well. Ordered spicy Amritsari chhole kulche and it came out good. We also got the Mali Paneer Taco and since the stuffing was more on the naan, it wasnt really like a taco. The Virgin Mint Mojito was flavorful as well. Plenty of parking and there are few parking spots right in front of the restaurant for customers who take out food.

Good overall place as of 7/18/2024 - This is the second time I come to Austindia, I saw improvements in the food quality so I raised my review to 4 stars. They need to set a lunch thali veg and non-veg. The mango lassi was good. I tried the chole, paneer tikka and palak paneer with some naan. All of the dishes were above average. The place is clean and the service good.

Stopped by for a quick bite. Place filled up quickly by 7 pm and it was full by the time i left. The shrimp tandoor was OK, nothing spectacular. the shrimp had that frozen shrimp taste which is normal i guess. the rum lassi was different but i should have stuck with a regular non-alcoholic version. Garlic naan i have had better, it was not as flavorful as some others

I never give bad reviews, but I need to tell everybody going to this restaurant not to go. I made a delivery through the rear entrance, and to say that it was filthy and absolutely disgusting is to put it mildly. The floor is unclean. The rear area of their building is infested with insects because they leave their garbage in heaps its just quite terrible. Truly disgusting, truly unclean. Pick somewhere else until the owner of this restaurant learns how to clean up properly. Disgusting. I would never ever bring my family here.

We tried Stuffed Amritsari Chole kulche, gulab jamun, mango lassi and paneer platter sizzler, and all of them were delicious. They also serve liquor of course, but there s also a liquor shop right next to this place. Decent punjabi taste, and very fast service. They could play more with the aesthetics but maybe they just want to keep it simple. There s plenty of free parking right outside, but I could not find a ramp for the wheelchair. There were separate washrooms for men and women. Must try restaurant! Vegetarian options: Many vegetarian options to choose from. Dietary restrictions: Some items might contain dairy, sugar, wheat, meat, etc Parking: Free parking right outside Kid-friendliness: Yes, if you don t mind sitting near a bar counter Wheelchair accessibility: Maybe not. But it is located on the very ground floor, with a little plinth height.

Update: We met some friends here last night. It was pretty much the same experience. Excellent food, sub-par service. This time there were only two tables occupied in the restaurant and two servers. Most of the time, the servers were sitting at the bar on their phones. We quickly ran out of water and I was sharing my water with the table. I had to walk up to the server sitting at the bar to get our check and to request a to-go box. We just gave up on keeping our water cups filled. The most irritating part is the automatic 20% tip on the wireless payment system theyre using. I didnt catch it until after already giving 20% but the service was not worth that at all. Ill go back for the food and the atmosphere, but next time Ill expect to serve myself and the people at my table. Previous Review: The food was excellent. Great environment. Great location. The service was just okay. You have to scan the QR code at the table, then go through looking at the menu from your phone, inputting your credit card info prior to ordering, etc. We had very little interaction with our server. We had to get up to ask to refill our water after waiting a while, which we really needed eating spicy food, get a to-go box, etc. The online system wouldnt work for us so we had the awkward moment of them putting the tip request in front of me after swiping my credit card when Im thinking you hardly did anything other than bring our food to us. Well give it another chance, but it will probably be take out.

Not a great experience.. The portion was too little (like kids size) Dahi Bhalla Papdi Chaat - You will get 2 pieces for $8.99 Goat Biriyani - it was meant to be a Dum Biriyani. Cooked just 70%. Rice consistency. But meat was good. Also very very little portion for $17.99 you might have to order 3 Biriyani for 2 ppl. Naan was dry, thin, crispy and burnt.when checked they said thats how an authentic Punjabi Naan would taste like. Malai Kofta - Not so great. For 2 adults n 1 kid we spent $75 for a very disappointing experience. Costly Very little portion Average taste

But if I must go again very soon, that can be arranged! We love AustIndia food immensely . The wait staff is always very helpful even if they have the Order App, which we Boomers kinda dislike. They have helped me decide what is the next dish I will try. Food never disappoints me .. oh and that GARLIC NAAN BREAD IS HEAVENLY ! Go run . Get there as soon as you can! Vegetarian options: I love the plant based options. You may want to ask them if it meets your dietary requirements. Make sure to indicate your spice level preference. Kid-friendliness: They accommodate entire families. The dining space is clean and there is plenty of seating with ample room between patrons.

Food was okay I would say. We had chicken tikka sizzlers, naan, punjabi chicken curry, chicken butter masala and lassi. We expected food to be a little different based on the reviews, but it was okay. If you like spicy food, you have to order the hot level.

I stopped by for dinner and due to bad weather place was very much empty. I got a good vibe for this place. I ordered Chicken Tikka appetizer and it came out perfectly good. The highlight was surely Amritsari Kulcha , I ordered spicy and it was just perfect. Very friendly person who was taking care of everyone very well. I will surely return here.

My wife and I got takeout for dinner. It was enjoyable and was made quickly, though perhaps because of that it didnt seem as fresh as it could be. Nonetheless were grateful to have a solid Indian restaurant at such a convenient location for us and will probably be repeat customers.

Great aloo paratha for breakfast...the Punjabi chicken curry was awesome!! Update : Dec 2023, has been good till a few weeks back. Last order using Uber was horrendous, goat curry was stale and so was the lamb kebab. The dal makhni also was not cooked well, ended up throwing all the food !!! Food

If youre on the hunt for a cozy spot with exceptional Indian cuisine, AustIndia Bar and Restaurant is the place to be. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between a laid-back atmosphere and a lively sports bar vibe, thanks to the numerous TVs showcasing games on a Saturday night. The samosas were a delightful start with a perfect crispiness outside and a flavorful potato filling complemented by tantalizing dipping sauces. The main dishes, customizable in heat levels, added an exciting dimension to the experience. The Butter Naan Chicken was a creamy delight, and the Punjabi Chicken Curry offered a fantastic flavor that left a lasting impression. The attentive staff deserves applause, regularly checking in to ensure our satisfaction. Our dining experience was so enjoyable that weve already planned our next trip to AustIndia. Dont miss out on this hidden gem for an authentic and delightful taste of India!

Overall, we enjoyed our visit. It was my wifes first time trying Indian food and so I wanted to take her somewhere with good reviews. We looked and found AustIndia had good reviews and menu looked great. When we arrived, the place was empty and took the staff a while come help us and the waitress had headphones in and couldnt hear us and had to take them out, the music was very loud, and there we confusion on whether to order with waitress or the QR code on the table. Finally I just ordered apps and drinks from the QR code. Apps came out quickly but had to ask about drinks. She said she didnt see an order and would go check, then came out with the drinks so she just didnt see them. Then we ordered food and it all came out quickly and was delicious. It felt more like a takeout place bc the Atmosphere and service was not up to a restaurant standard. However, everyone was very friendly and did anything we asked including turning music down, getting drinks and the manager came over after and wished us well as we left. We enjoyed the visit overall and will be back.

Met my best friends here for a date. Everyone was nice and always checked on us to make sure everything was to our liking. There were a few moments where the waiter checked in a little too often but Id rather that than hardly at all. Overall well definitely be back especially since theyre right next to Flix Brewhouse. The masala chai is a must try and the medium goat curry was the perfect amount of spice and flavor.

Ordered for pick up after choosing based on the good reviews. I ordered on the way to the restaurant and it was ready two minutes after I arrived. Sorry, no photos, we couldnt wait to try it. The lamb curry with Naan was our favorite. They make it perfect for how you ask, mild or spicy. A new family favorite. Parking: Spots right out front for pick up.

We ordered Chicken Curry, which came with the rice and a nan at the Round Rock Diwali Festival on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023. It cost us $15, which is a complete ripoff. The chicken curry was horrible, the gravy was watery and the chicken was raw and hardly cooked. I am very surprised that these people being originally from Amritsar, Punjab, India do not know how to cook the very basic dish like Chicken Curry. My wife makes far better Chicken Curry than AustIndia. May be I should bring them my wifes Chicken Curry and then they will know what a Chicken Curry should taste like. Dont waste your money and stay away from this restaurant.

My husband and I had dinner here, the food was absolutely amazing!!! It was my first time having Indian food and everything was so delicious! The paneer pakora and samosas were perfect appetizers, loved the sauces they came with. We also shared the paneer platter, butter chicken, vegetable biryani, and garlic naan. Everything was wonderful and the spice level was perfect for us. The dessert was delectable, it was so light and refreshing. Clean, modern interior and great service. The prices for everything were very reasonable! I wish we didnt live over 4 hours away but will definitely be back when were in Austin again!
