I m extremely disappointed with the lack of communication regarding your recent move. Five weeks ago, I found out the location had changed, but there was no update provided to customers. This level of unprofessionalism is unacceptable. Good food alone cannot make up for poor customer service. Its crucial to keep your customers informed about changes such as a new address or phone number. Moving to a new location without updating this information has caused a lot of frustration. Supporting black-owned businesses should be a positive experience, but this has been a letdown. Please take customer communication seriously in the future.

I ordered food for takeout. Service was slow, took quite some time to even be acknowledged and even longer to get my food. No complaints at all about the food, absolutely wonderful. The prices however are just way out of line. Youll be looking at a nearly $50 bill per person as a plate is nearing $30. The amount of food you get for that price just doesnt make it worth it. The portion size of meat is rather small. I love soul food, but with so many other options for a much better value, despite the food being really good, I wont be back. Solid 3/5... Two of those stars being simply because the food was delicious.

Food was cool.. Jerk seasoning was Mid if anything. Y all spend UNDER $50 because we was charged an EXTRA 15% gratuity for spending OVET $50 which is wierd because our server only came out to take our order and bring us our order then SHE CAME AMand gave us our total then got confused when we asked for a receipt! Now her lil butch friends she was kicking it with them the whole time. The. They have a 32 oz drink on the menu for $4 but the drink IS NOT 32 oz.. Yeah they doin the most

This is hands down the worst attempt at soul food that I have ever had in my life. We specifically asked is the mac and cheese baked and was told yes but then out comes the worst box mac and cheese. Canned greens will always be a hard NO for me. Did not like the jerk sauce, it tasted like vinegar. Hated the chicken tacos. Just a waste of $70. If your gonna charge so much at least put the time and effort in to actually making quality food. Shut it DOWN, my stomach still hurts.

So I just moved to Texas, and on Mothers Day, I wanted some good home cooked food. My daughter took me to Bernies soul kitchen, and they didnt disappoint. The food was awesome and the service was great. This was the highlight of my day. Thank you, Bernie.

When I got there at 2pm when the doors open on Mothers day it was only 1 waiter she was taking drinks and taking food orders for about 30 people not cool it took a 11/2 for us to get our food my daughter to ordered the smothered chicken which they said it wouldnt be ready for a hour but we wait so long we were able to get it while waiting over a hour for our food. If you expect your black own business to be successful you have to do better for 1 your waiter shouldnt have on biker shorts that you wear around the house with her panty lines showing a nice tee shirt with black,khaki or a nice pair of jeans. My first time there not sure if I will be back unless you get more staff and fix dress code for waiter.

Im not sure what happened as the food was good when they first opened. Now the greens come out of a can and were over seasoned in an attempt to hide it. The mac n cheese is definitely a box of Velveeta shells and cheese loaded with salt n pepper, and my wings didnt have any seasoning. I wont be back. How do you charge 5.00 for a side of boxed mac n cheese.

The atmosphere was wonderful. The service was okay. They only had 1 several when we arrived. It took a her a few minutes to get our drink orders due to her having to serve others as well. After placing our food order we waited about 25 to 30 minutes before our food came out but the food was hot, fresh and it was delicious.

Ummmm No?? Idk what happened this time around. I had to wait for about 4 mins, The cabbage was super overcooked, it was like mush. The Mac and cheese tasted like box with a whole bunch or salt and pepper. It didnt have a flavor. The fish was decent. The cornbread??? it was a no for me. I dont mind trying black owned businesses but if your prices are going to be sky high, the quality of the meal needs to be amazing and not subpar.

Very unprofessional n rude cook n staff I came out to celebrate a birthday with my family the cook was upset because we said 12 n it end up being 15 REMIND WE WERE THE ONLY PEOPLE INSIDE then we were ordering drinks from the bar n the bartenders became rude just when u want to support a small business it bites u in the face I wouldn t recommend this place at all for big groups the cook was even using profanity words in ground of children the food is not even worth the disrespect

Overall, the food was really good. The jerk rib tips and lamb chops were great. The greens were good but extra spicy. The service was very slow. I placed an order with 3 plates to go. It took 45 minutes before my order was ready. I tried to call order in ahead. I was warned. They were really busy and were not accepting call in orders.

For a short staff this was probably one of the best services. There is a note on the door asks for patience and if you dont have any dont go but if you do hands down almost everything we ordered was so good!!!! Upon entering the restaurant it was very quiet and very peaceful. It wasnt that busy it was on a Thursday around 4. The staff was very pleasant. Now lets get to the food. Honey Bernies didnt come to play. I felt like I was at home with my Granny and Mama. I love it and will definitely be returning. They are in the Poker House just in case. Go enjoy its worth it. Oh and food is reasonable price and you get a lot.

I am 3 or 4 bites into my plate, specifically green beans, and i stopped to make this review. I ve never tasted green beans so good! I just took a bite of the corn bread and fried fish, and I will say, they are outdoing the beans. First time trying to place out and we will be back!

On Super Bowl Sunday I was looking for some southern comfort food and stumbled across this place. It was okay. Not like wow this is so good but not bad. Sunday Special is pot roast, a little too salty if they even added a pinch more it would have been unbearable to eat. The cornbread has a good flavor but it s a small muffin but the portions of pot roasts and sides (green beans and yams) was good. Would go back to try the catfish and try some other sides, hopefully it will be better! Service was decent but nothing over the top. Atmosphere looked clean, nothing really impressive. It has potential but the next time will be the determining factor if I would order in the future.

My husband (Patrick) and I decided to stop by Bernie s Eatery to eat some soul food today and I wanted to see how different it could have been from anywhere else I have eaten at so we waited patiently for our food which really didn t take that long to prepare and when the waitress brought it to our table we were very surprised to see how much food it was. Well worth the money we paid. We are here to tell you that the food was Extremely Delicious. I had Oxtails, canned yams, greens, cornbread and peach cobbler. My husband had the same with Mac & Cheese. I m hear to tell you that the food was so good and plentiful that we had food to bring home. Plus we ordered an extra plate to take for lunch the following day. Of course we had to meet not only the owner/cook. As we were waiting for him to come out I had visualize meeting an older man. Walked in, was told that we can seat ourselves but the group I was with had to have been slit up because on the other side there was an event going on and the other side. My party could ve sat together but there were dirty dishes on the tables near the clean tables. Sitting down waiting nobody came to even get the drink order. The event that was going on the other side came to the side I was sitting on went to the bar and got drinks while everybody else sitting with nothing. Horrible service. Might get good service if nobody is in there

The food was delicious. Waitress was very attentive, but the restaurant smelled like disinfectant. Strong smell, which made the dining experience less. 1/10/23 Update. Food still delicious. Pros: Nice atmosphere and staff are friendly. Cons: The food is almost too salty for my liking. The greens looked like they were canned greens that someone added meat too. My fried pork chop was almost over fried and I really could not taste any seasoning. Our food came out in styrophone togo containers. For the price point, we should have had food served on proper tableware imo. The waitress we had was really nice, just could have check in on us more. I ran out of water and needed a refill. I was never asked or offered a refill. If I drank alcoholic beverages and wanted a causal spot to hang out at, I think this is that place. But the meal I had does not make me want to return TBH. I have had better soul food at other places. Parking: Parking available but shared with other businesses in the strip.

Food was pretty good. I think I would ve like some of the other menu items better than what I got. I had jerk rib tips, fried chicken wings, collard greens, and yams. The fried chicken wings weren t seasoned that well. They add gratuity automatically and don t let you know and I m a big tipper so my bill was way more than it should ve been didn t know until I got the itemized receipt afterwards.The service was good though and the atmosphere is great!

I have been looking for a place to get oxtail, and Bernies did not disappoint!!! The customer service was awesome from the start. The experience started with myself and my Round Rock Ques Chapter Bruhz getting to the establishment earlier that it opened for service. The Owner still let us in, and explained that his full staff wasnt there yet, but he didnt want us waiting in the HOT sun which we understood, and appreciated! There was 25+ of us. Now, once they were ready for service, the staff was on it - taking orders, getting drinks, checking on us to see if we needed anything while waiting on our food. Which didnt take long, considering the size of our group. Once the food came out , it was OWTSTANDING (Its a Que Thang)!!! Great flavor and great portion sizes! I got the Jerk Oxtail plate with mac and collard greens, and Oh My God- I devoured it. The jerk sauce that covered the Oxtail was so delicious I was dipping my cornbread it, the sides reminded me of home comfort food! I can honestly say this place is legit! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!!

This place was AMAZING! I sat at the bar and received the best service I have had in a very long time. The drinks were amazing but the food was so delicious I honestly cant find the words that give all the credit the owner deserves! His heart is definitely in his cooking. The day I went Bernies ended up selling out of food. The owner came out and talked with the customers including myself. He talked about where the name came from in honor of his mom Bernice. He is not only a marvelous cook but a very humble man! Im from San Antonio and I wish I was closer so I could eat there more often. Great job and keep up the great food! I will definitely be going back when Im in the area again!
