Took a day trip down from San Antonio for some family time and fishing. I checked out the park on Google Maps before we headed down, and the pier was about as big as I expected (my wife clocked it at 1/4 mile from beginning to end). We checked with the park staff. And pets are allowed on the pier, so long as they are leashed. We saw a bunch of jellyfish, a few pods of stingrays, a couple crabs, and some jumping fish. We caught a couple little catfish and what I think was a small carp (not sure). It was a fun experience, and we will be back to take advantage of some beachside camping and more casting and reeling!

I brought my cousins here to camp for the first time. Theyve never been camping before. We got a site with electricity so we could plug in a fan. They had a blast fishing and checking out the sights in the area (Big Tree too). The only complaints they had were a) mosquitoes which we cant control and b)issues with the shower water being scalding hot in one stall. They love that it was secluded and had plenty of shade in the wooded area. My youngest cousin loved seeing all the animals. Also I could have sworn the showers were supposed to be air conditioned but I could be wrong. We just attributed the water issues and the lack of AC to recent tropical depression that just came through since there was a water conservation advisory during our visit. Overall it definitely made the list of places they want to go again. Toilets: Very clean!

The state park is very nice. I didn t really care for the beach side campground. The picnic shelter is on the wrong side of the RV. When you walk out, you get to see your neighbors stuff instead of your own. If you choose across the street. Then those are on the correct side. The wooded campground was much nicer and had lots of privacy and shade. Will stay on that side next time!

The bay sites offer a beautiful view of the water. Most bay sites are uneven. It can be noisy with the airboat traffic and vehicles speeding by to and from the pier if you re on that side. The cabanas are on the opposite side of most rvs/campers doors which puts the cabanas behind your rv when parked. The cabanas do offer some protection from the wind. The park team is delightful to work with. Great park for families. Playground: No Toilets: Clean

January 2024 - 4 nights in Bayfront #38.3 nights in #150, wooded area. Ill break it down the park, the Bayfront & the Wooded area. The Park.we camped here in a Renegade super C, 38, 13-1/2 tall. Watch your overhead but no real issues getting here. The Park is well maintained with courteous & friendly staff. We were here just after a freeze so water had just been turned back onthere was a boil notice. The Wooded site, #150 - Easy to back into with just enough room for our Rubicon. Electric and water were convenient although we had to book a 30 amp site. No real issues. Comes with a picnic table on a slab and a fire ring. Youre surrounded by a thicket so its very private. Site was clean and fairly level (asphalt, new by the way). Shadyif there is ever any sun. Noteof the 7 nights hereit rained all but two1.5 in one day. Come prepared. The Bayfront site, #38 Ill sum it upif it had been asphalt,,,Id rate it a 7it was not it rained 3of the 4 days. It was sandy mud. We setup in a pouring rain. The site was so unlevel that at one point our stairs got stuck in the sand/mud. We tried to park with our windshield aimed at the ocean but our electric cord was 5 ft too short. After a deluge of 2 days of rain, we were surrounded in sandy mud. Put a bucket of water at the front door to wash our shoes before entering..it helped. The dog.hmm..it was a mess. Beautiful views. Was it worth it.Im not sure.

I love this park, if you can get an island camping spot its much better. The wooded camping area is infested with mosquitoes. Toilets: The restrooms were clean.

This is me and my Nanas favorite park. We keep revisiting this place. The nature trail really immerses you in the forest. With natural unpaved paths, you are walking between the trees and shrubbery and are able to really feel the magic of the earth. This is a great place for meditation and a very relaxing stroll through the wonders of the world. They also have a fishing pier, the bathrooms are kept very clean. There are camping sites along the bay and in the forest, and there is a big tree that is around 300 years old you can walk around and see. Goose Island is the ultimate immersive experience for nature lovers. If you are looking for a getaway, Goose Island is where you should go. Toilets: Clean restrooms and they are in numerous locations across this massive park. Picnic area: Lots of picnic areas all places perfectly for a peaceful viewing experience.

Very nice spot for bay side camping. The pier is a big plus and numerous easy kayak launch sites.

Not planning a return visit...The neighbor next to us didnt even have an RV or tent. He was staying alone in a car and had tarped his picnic shelter space which he appeared to be taking showers in when there are showers 3 sites away. He also was watering the sand....yes thats right sand and spat into a pan to cook food. WEIRD. The neighbor on the other side 3 sites down had his dog on a tie down behind his RV while he napped inside disturbing all the other neighbors quiet and peaceful enjoyment. His dog was close enough to the water line to jump and hang himself which could have been possible considering it was a puppy. He had the worst consideration for those around him. His dog also pooped and peed on the beach since he was tied down and guess what thats what dogs do. When I did complain about the dog in distress the office was slow at responding. The owner just brought his dog back in and waited until after hours to tie him down outside AGAIN. They really didnt seem to think of it as a big deal. So disappointing. This was my second time and Im fairly certain it would take a lot to come back here.

Best Beach Camping in TX. You can fishing, camping, and etc in one spot! Cozy, and nice Ocean view. But if you dont have a camping car, please dont not go windy day! It will make you so upset to hold your tent! Toilets: Clean, shower room separate!

Beautiful state park on the bay. Bayside s Camping sites are right on the water. Watch fish jumping in the morning, fish from the shore, or pier, Kayak when weather permits. Bird watching too! Toilets: Showers and toilet facilities in the campgrounds are clean and well maintained. Bayside Campsites are water/electric only with shelter and picnic tables at each site.

Do you fish? Do you like to watch people fish? If so, this is a great place to go. Lots of space to spread out and enjoy some bay fishing. The nature viewing area is small but interesting. We spotted a rose spoonbill! Bathrooms were hit and miss. The nature viewing side, great bathrooms. The fishing side, not dirty just low pressure water.
