I went to pick up for someone and waited 10 minutes still to have to ask for the order the lady in charge then tells me to just let someone else come get the order and I told her thats bad business because Im here to pick up this persons food and I still cant get it. She went back to doing whatever she was doing and didnt even care. A customer is a customer whether walk-in or online and should be treated as such

I purchased a plate from this restaurant, and the food was not fresh. I ordered baked chicken, broccoli with cheese, and mashed potatoes. The seasoning on the chicken was off, the broccoli and cheese tasted old, and Ive never encountered broccoli that tasted that way before, so it must have been the spoiled cheese. The mashed potatoes lacked flavor and seemed like they were instant. There are countless excellent soul food spots in the DFW area, but this is not one of them.

Best sould food in the DFW hands down!! The meatloaf made my soul smile, and the cabbage changed my life. I love the beef ribs, and the ox tials the most, but everything in this place is AMAZING including the baked Mac & Cheese. If anyone doesnt like the food here....they must not be into flavor. Truckers Cafe has great food that reminds me of the many meals cooked by the best, southern, melanin American grandmothers, mothers, aunties, and sisters with years of cooking experience. The service is assembly line style, where you choose your entrees, sides, and dessert or have them prepare your fried fish, fried chicken, or special salad. The location is very clean and casual with plenty of seating and capabilities to serve those needing wheelchair accessibility. Parking: Located in a small shopping center area. Kid-friendliness: Yes kid and family friendly Wheelchair accessibility: The building has non-automated glass doors entry, but is easily accessible for wheelchairs.

I ve never been to this restaurant but I saw a story on social media about it and how the owner opens it every Monday to feed the needy and less fortunate. EVERY Monday! Not just once or every now and then!! EVERY MONDAY!! I just wanted to acknowledge how truly beautiful this lady must be and to say thank you for the inspiration and kindness. Pleasant people. There was NO air, but sh## happens. Food was great...accept I got cheated on the Peach Cobbler, it was made with bread and for $10 a piece, I want Real Peach Cobbler with the cruncht cruat. I went for the first time this past Saturday! We waited a good hour before our food came out. I we ordered a bacon cheeseburger and fry and banana pudding...pork chop dinner and a side of baked chicken with a piece of vanilla cake and a steak and chicken salad. The burger came out first then 15 mins later here comes my salad and then about 20 min after that here comes the pork chop dinner. Since we drove out of town to eat here it would have been ideal to eat it all together. The food was pretty good. Will I be going back?! No I drove and hour to eat here stayed and hour to eat. Besides that I had my grand baby girl with us and the waitress came over and was playing with her and noticed that she smeared potatoes on her cute little pink outfit that left a stain!!!

This is my boyfriend and I first and last time going here..My meatloaf greasy, it was salty and taste like tomato paste.. my cabbage was greasy and not cooked enough .. like I was eating a leaf and my dressing was like eating corn bread and my gravy had hair in it I don t know if it s because we came at 525 it was almost closing time. But the cashier and the cook were arguing about cooking my boyfriend fish.. my boyfriend said the fish was salty and it was FISHY tasting. That was 39 dollars waisted I wish I could have taking it back I could help her make her sides .. those were not it TODAY

I was looking forward to eating my Parisian sandwich described with Brie. When does a Brie come in a liquid form? The manager did not even know what a Brie looked liked and brought me a cup of Brie. This sandwich not was not good at all. It was very dry. The chicken had no taste but the bread was good. $15.97!

I gave it 3 stars 1star for the food bc the greens came out of a can, the oxtails was too greasy to eat, the cornbread dressing is mixed with stove top stuffing. 1 star for the service the lady was rude after we spent $80 and didn t give her a tip. 1 star for the atmosphere bc you gotta wait at least 45 mins for your food. Visited my first time yesterday and the food was great! We got a Pork and beef Rib plate. The disappointment came in when we was charged 17.99 for a pork plate and 28.99 for a beef plate which we wasn t told considering we told them this was our first time. For 2 people our total came up to 66.00 for 2 people with 2 plates 2 bottles drinks and a 8.99 dessert. The service was ok they was having side conversations with each other while we was ordering and paying. We was expecting them to make suggestions or just be more welcoming to new people but I guess my expectations was too high. Overall I give the food a 10/10 and service 7/10. When it come to prices I just look at things in life like an experience and I get to choose if to want to pay to experience it again or not.

The food was excellent! We went on Sunday 4/14/24, we got there before the crowd! My granddaughter had stuffed turkey leg! It was stuffed with cornbread dressing, greens, macaroni/cheese and dirty rice! It was enough to share or eat for a few days. I had pig feet, fried cabbage and yams. I ve been here several times/I also order on-line from time to time! The food was the best this time! So I thank Paulette the owner and the workers for a job well done!

The gentleman inside just looked up & shook his head indicating no they re not open & the lady inside w/him just walked off. This restaurant is straight to the point what you see is what you get with amazing service. The servers were not only kind but very patient with me indecisiveness. I ordered the show stoppa plate with hot honey wings and grilled shrimp. It came with Mac and cheese and I got regular mashed potatoes instead of the loaded. I got a veggie plate with string beans, mixed veggies and cabbage. Everything was thoroughly seasoned and the portions were great. My favorite part was the shrimp and mashed potatoes and I look forward to coming back and trying other dishes.

I had the baked chicken, squash, and okra w/tomatoes. It took me back to momma s home cooking over 30 years ago. I really enjoyed it. I googled soul food places in the Richardson area and found this one. It s close to church on my way to Wednesday night Bible study. Went through much traffic to find the place. I visited this evening and had the Mack truck burger. It was a big burger. It was seasoned well and had bacon, cheese, onions, lettuce and tomato. The burger was delicious. I also had a side of cabbage. It was a little greasy but otherwise was good. Not really worth $5 for the small container that was only partially filled. Lastly the Koolaid was good. We had a pleasant experience. I will definitely go back.

Im very disappointed. I live in Cedar Hill and drove here to get some fried ribs, and it was a waste of time. I should have checked my order before I left, but given I ordered through DoorDash, I assumed it was verified. Wrong, got home all to have baked ribs. Delicious food. Large portions. Great customer service. I found this place delivering for uber. It smelled delicious but the reviews had me a bit worried, so it took a friend of mine asking if there was a soulfood place that Ive been wanting to try to make the leap. Its one of those places that you can point to what you want, so immediately I was a bit overwhelmed because the place was smelling right, and EVERYTHING was looking delicious. After a couple of minutes, watching me with big eyes and a bit of drool in the corner of my mouth, the kind lady behind the counter asked me what Id like and I told her it all looked good, and she said I could sample anything to help with my decision...I didnt need to sample too much before I decided on the ribs, fried Cabbage and yams. Theyve got something with that sauce and the yams were soooo good. Dont let the other reviews deterr you from some of the best soul food out there yall. Ill definately be going back! A few weeks ago I ordered chicken/dressing through Door Dash! It wasnt on the menu so Paulette(owner)said put in the notes and I will get it! Well I didnt get it, so she said l could come in and get another plate. I told her I had no way so she said when I want it just ask for her she will give it to me and add some things. So today I called my order in because Im still on Doctors orders so I told her lyft will be bringing me and Im calling in my order or chicken _dressing. At first she said we must have a credit card for call in orders. I explained to her who I was so I told her thats fine I can pay for my stuff but I also want a vegetable plate. When I go pick it up she have it ready I pay for the vegetable plate plus tip. I ask her was the chicken/dressing in there she said yes. When I get home its a serving of dressing where they scraped the pan, it tasted burnt. There was no chicken, the Broccoli/cheese I ordered was so nasty and didnt look appetizers at all. I was so disappointed the only thing I ate was the black-eyed peas and corn bread. I paid 16.99 for lyft and 12.00 for a vegetable plate that I didnt eat, to go get dressing that I had been craving then it was nasty but didnt get what I was promised. I was very disappointed, disgusted thats the first time my Ive ever had a bad experience at this place and it will be the last. When the OWNER PAULETTE cant keep her word thats a problem for me.

A co-worker and I visited this place for dinner. Upon walking in, it wasn t what I excepted, but the staff and the atmosphere made it an wonderful experience! The food was delicious (soul food) and there was a variety of dishes to choose from! Had to wait a few minutes on the catfish, but it was worthwhile! Only take back was the amount it cost for two dinner plates. Other than that, this is such a great spot if you are looking for some awesome soul food!

This is soul food in Richardson, TX. I had the ribs and they were sweet & spicy - some of the best sauce Ive ever had. And theyre not stingy; she loaded my plate with three giant ribs, a very generous scoop of macaroni, and steamed veggies. Although, a bit pricey for lunch at $15.99, the food was excellent. The food was delicious. Ribs, stuffed chicken and meatloaf. Sides were also yummy. The place has a bite to be desirable. What they lack in atmosphere the made up for in food. The food did not look very appealing but once you taste it . Oh my goodness it s was fabulous. We will come back.

Had a taste for oxtails. I was very disappointed. The oxtails were not seasoned well or more breaded. If you dont understand that description, thats how I felt about eating it, and we all know that oxtails arent cheap. The cornbread was burnt, and they normally have good cornbread. Yams and green beans were just ok. Got to do better. Will have to pause for a minute but will give this place another shot.

The service at this restaurant was terrible. The website states that they have curbside pickup, but no working numbers to call and place an order. I am handicapped and use a walker, and when i pulled up and saw an employee coming out the building for a break I asked him if there was a working number so i could call in an order for curbside because i have mobility issues. i was told you have to place your order online, and he walked off. I decided that I traveled too far for me to leave without getting food. When i got my walker and got to the door no employee came to help. A customer helped my in the restaurant. No greeting. The i asked for one of my sides to be placed in a side container because I didn t want my food wasting in the bag, nor mixing with my other food items. I was told it was an extra dollar. After spending $35 for one i left it like it was. The was no help or offer to help to my car, a customer helped. There was no thank you for coming or anything. I asked the employee about a working number and i was told it was on the receipt. That was my first and last time visiting this restaurant.

Service gets a 4/5 because they werent too busy, but we had to wait awhile for our order to be taken. They were super nice though and its a wonderful place with amazing food. I dont know if it was just that they were short staffed that day or what. But having to wait 15 minutes for my order to be taken when there is only a group of 2 people infront of me is kind of absurd.

I have been wanting to try this place for a long time. I finally got a chance to go yesterday and I was disappointed, I ordered the meatloaf, squash and broccoli. All of my food was cold and the veggies were bland. I paid 8.99 for a side of neck bones and they were like warm and no season had to put hot sauce on them and I only got 3 neckbones.

Purchased $25 Groupon for $20 and after opening 10 minutes late I was told you can only use the Groupon if you spend $45 or more. Nowhere was that stated before purchasing and she couldn t show me that on the Groupon voucher where it said anything close to that. This is the second time I got a refund from Groupon regarding this business. Never again

Pro: The food is absolutely delicious!! The portions are perfect, and it is almost perfect to have two meals if you are not starving. The options are excellent and plentiful. There is a lot to choose from and the customer service is great even though they forgot my cornbread. Con: they did not open on time and they charge an extra dollar when you dont want the juices to mix aka your food to touch.

I was so disappointed with the quality of the food. I had smothered porkchops, yams, and greens. The porkchops were tough and the gravy was terrible, very watery with no seasoning whatsoever and lumpy. Greens werent cooked long enough, and the yams tasted like they were canned and boiled in sugar water...cornbread was perfect though and I loved the staff. Perhaps they had an off day, but looking at the previous comments something is just off. However fear not, I think its time I open my own place up for people to get the quality food they pay for. Side note: Smothered pork chops, yams and greens should look like the pictures below, not what they sold me.

I wanted to leave a good review but unfortunately I just didnt have a good a good experience. It was my 2nd visit everything was just very unorganized. Food wasnt really what I expected. Smothered pork chops were seasoned ok but the meat was dry. The greens were cooked perfectly but EXTREMELY too salty. The potatoes couldve used sme salt from the greens because they literally had no seasoning. Im convinced they were instant potatoes. . . I dnt even think they had butter. The baked chicken was horrible and tasted like water and had no flavor or color. And why did I order a kool-aid ? It literally took 20 mins for a koolaid. I asked multiple times if it was ready and kept being told that it was being made only in the end to be told that they had forgot. And the koolaid wasnt even good or worth the wait. . . . Just drive by dnt waste yo time or money no matter what it look like

Had the recent experience to visit and eat at the Truckers Cafe. Arrived with high hopes to enjoy good food and first time experience. Unfortunately disappointed. Pictures on the outside of the building and online marketing ads had little resemblance to the reality of the food offerings provided in the line up. Specifically, food selection was fair with a number of selections to choose from in a buffet service line setting. However, the quality and taste of food was lacking with a number of seasoned canned or box prepared item presentations. Portion size was good with food and drink cost a bit on the high side for the food quality and taste. Dine-in experience was decent mostly clean tables adorned with a good selection of condiments, except no napkins. Overall disappointed however in fairness to the establishment arrived around 3:30 PM on Sunday with a close time of 6:00 PM. Lesson learned dont go near closing time. Some popular items like fried chicken, yams and other selections were sold out. Staff mostly friendly, may visit the establishment again on a different day at an earlier time. Maybe more to follow with hopefully with a different experience to share.

We ordered smothered chicken, collard greens, candied yams, fried fish, mac & cheese, green beans and peach cobbler! ALL the veggies tastes like they were previously canned. If indeed they were canned, I would suggest doctoring them up before serving. I suspect the smothered chicken was leftover fried chicken with gravy poured over it. Assuming the gravy is made from scratch, I would suggest seasoning and browning the gravy longer before adding freshly fried chicken. Noodles in the mac and cheese were cooked nicely. The cheese was not gooey enough and taste powdered. Use milk/cream and butter instead of water if using powdered cheese. The peach cobbler needs more sugar, butter, nutmeg and cinnamon. The crust was acceptable. The fish was okay. Until they make improvements, I would not recommend this restaurant.

Went here last Saturday, and got the pot roast, mashed potatoes and broccoli. The roast was seasoned with water and air. The potatoes and broccoli were like elementary school cafe food. Twenty-plus dollars for a Dollar Tree-tasting frozen meal. Its a big NO for me! Vegetarian options: Stay away.

Wow, soul food is an understatement, as soon as you walk through the door you feel like family. The food is something you can t find anywhere else except grandma s house. At first I thought the price was a little bit more, but the portions are enough for two meals. I understand why they give you a to-go bag, it was a challenge for me to finish my plate at, but the favors were so good if you want good food and you are hard to satisfy, check this restaurant/ family kitchen out.

Walked in yesterday with my fiance after driving all the way from West dallas..arrived at 3pm they did not close until 8pm. Honestly the server at the buffet line just looked OVER IT the food that was out was dried out chicken lasagna and what looked like Salisbury steak. I didnt even attempt to order because of the energy I received when we walked in and there was literally no one there patrons NOBODY except one person in front of us who was ordering and she was struggling. The prices are EXTREMELY high, but I was willing to spend. The customer service sucked!! One of my coworkers brought me a plate of chicken tetrazzini. Wasnt good. The green beans were heavily drenched in garlic. So I watched tiktok. To my surprise I went to try something different. The lady wasnt friendly to me while I was waiting for my pork chops to be cooked. Some other people came into their establishment and she was so friendly talking about a raffle but never told me. Not to mention while I was waiting for my food. So much I want to say about this place and all of it excellent! This was a first time visit after a long desire to go. I was not remotely disappointed. These folks know what theyre doing and then some. The best way I can describe this place is good quality southern homemade cooking. And TASTY! By far one of the best southern homemade style restaurants Ive been to in a long time. Extremely reasonable prices, nice portion size (I swear my chopped steak was about a pound worth of cooked meat) two sides and cornbread. Two orders plus drinks was around $30. Im 6ft 240lbs and I didnt walk out hungry. I did walk out upset I didnt try more of their food! Customer service was dead on! I highly recommend this place for a great home style cooked meal. I know I cant wait to go back especially for the smothered porkchops and fried cabbage. (BTW the fried cabbage is awesome)

Yesterday was my first time coming back here in a few years since, I moved out of state. This is one of my favorite places to get the Jumbo Jive Turkey Burger. Ms. Paulette moved to a new location and this is a very nice restaurant. They were out of turkey so, I ordered the Mack Truck burger with mayo, ketchup and mustard with lettuce, tomato, cheese and bacon and a side of fried okra. My sister order off of the lunch selection of foods and we ordered the Fat Catfish plate to share. I got the mixed kool-aid of blue raspberry and fruit punch. The food is still absolutely delicious and cooked fresh to order. I always come here when, Im in town. I would highly recommend coming here to eat. the food is the best. Update: I went back for lunch on Sunday and ordered the Jive Turkey Burger with fried cabbage on the side. Im including those pictures. It was hot and delicious.
