Took my son for breakfast at the Cotten Gin this morning. We had the Tex omelette and three egg omelette. For three egg omelettes , they were very thin. The hash browns and omelettes did not have much taste to them. Toast was served with an offering of butter or jam. The water we had to drink was fine, but the only time we were asked for a refill was after we got the check. Wish I could review higher, but 5 years ago the service and food was much better. 10-5-24 I am updating my last review. It seems The Gin has continued to evolve into a much better place to dine. Some change of decor, large T.V s on walls, improved cooking, and great service. I have adjusted my stars. Please give it a try.

We had the best experience at the GIN!! Last Sat evening! There were 14 of us. We were in the back room to the left, and our server was fabulous! She was very friendly, attentive, and concerned about all of our needs.

The atmosphere, service and food were all good. There was just one little thing that I didn t like was they must only have one fryer where they cook fish shrimp & French fries all in the same oil my problem is I am allergic to all fish so I had a reaction to the French fries last night so I couldn t eat the fries. I asked the waiter & he seemed disinterested in finding out whether they had 2 different fryers or not. The Turkey Club was just alright and it didn t look anything like a club sandwich to me.

We love The Gin! The service is great, food is wonderful, location is perfect and they recently even added an enclosed stage in the back for live music. We have had several meals there and you just can t go wrong. Last night I had an amazing salad, my husband had the chicken fried steak. He loved it. They also have some wonderful pizza we usually get. I highly recommend it!

I m not one to review, but the patty melt was awful. It had seasoning in some spots that I had to spit out. The elote app was not great, no flavor and the chicken sandwhich was not good either. Not sure how this place got 4.5 stars. It s been one of the worst meals I ve had in a very long time.

I REALLY want to like this place but a few reasons prevent that from happening .cleanliness: I ve been multiple times and my table is always nasty looking. It s got sticky sauce remnants on it. This last time it looked like the brick was coming apart covering it in rocky dust. The menus are always stained,wet, and gross looking. Feel like I need to wash my hands after touching them. Service: I ve been here 4 times now and the service is always so. Regardless of whether it s busy or not. Takes for ever to get drinks, food, check, etc.. food: my food has always been yummy.

I have never had such bad service, it is sad when your employees ruin your dishes, our waitress never checked to see if we had everything right, we had to call her a couple of times for refills, I could also notice how they served the other tables, already When everyone left, there was only us, a waitress had a gray sweatshirt, she came dragging the chairs as loud as she could, it was a horrible noise with a terrible attitude. I think that an employee like that is not necessary for your business. I also work in a restaurant and That the service we had is one that I would not give, obviously I did not give them a tip why they did not deserve it, if I could give zero stars I would.

Came in for a party of 2 to grab some dinner with a friend at around 6:50pm this evening. There was a party of 4 in front of us and party of 4 that came in after us. The first party of 4 got seated almost immediately and the hostess asked me again how many in my party. I told her there were 2 and she proceeded to sit the party of 4 that came in after us immediately. She then said she would clean off a table for us, the table got cleaned and she proceed to then tell us it would be a few more minutes because she did not want to overcrowd her servers. Completely unacceptable as we were 2nd in line and could have sat at the other table. Unacceptable and it was our first time in the area since we have moved here. Editing to add: At 7:05pm, all 2 top tables have been filled, so I guess overcrowding your server isn t an issue anymore.

Great little place in downtown Prosper. Great bar, crowded with regulars, nice simple menu. I put my big boy pants on and dove into that Wagyu Chicken Fried Steak. It was so delicious. The mashed potatoes like mama makes and the green beans had about a 1/4 lb of bacon in them! I have to admit it whipped me. I had to take half of it home. The smoked old fashioned was great and my wife had the Chicken BLT with avocado and she loved it. Will definitely be back

Reviewed this place a couple of years ago when we went in the evening to listen to some live music. We have been back and this time for breakfast. It was really good yall. I always ask for crispy hashbrowns, and 1 out of 10 times, they are actually crispy. The Gin cooked them crispy. The eggs were a little bland but, almost as if they werent cooked with any oil or butter but adding some salt and pepper made them good. I do like mine over medium, which these were slightly overcooked. A little disappointing since I like my toast with my egg yolk juices. The yolk wasnt completely solid but it was really close. The pancakes had vanilla in them, which can add some great flavor but they probably had a touch too much. Overall, it really was a great breakfast but I shared some details in the event these are a big deal to you. The 2yrs ago -- Very busy, reserve a table so you can sit outside and listen to the great live music. Food was good, had the fish and chips. Love this place.

The food was poorly cooked, I had food poisoning after ordering the patty melt - so I am writing this while I have cramps, nausea, chills, and wait for my medication to work. There was no coordination between the flavors and textures, the bread was a regular sandwich bread covering the meat which was extremely greasy and lacked flavor and a good texture: I tried 1/4 of this dish and couldn t finish it. I did not even order the meat to be medium rare (and I m happy I didn t) because I feel awful right now. Same about the chicken tenders, fries and the burger: both need improvement. The service was regular as well, not enough napkins were provided, and had to ask continuously for more, I suggest placing a box of napkins on the tables - specially for families with kids as it is annoying having to ask for napkins often. I wanted to love this place as it came recommended by locals - may be in the future after there are some changes in the recipes. This is a local place and I was meeting with guys from church for a night out. Most of us had some fried pickles and chips & queso to start. The fried pickles are particularly tasty, served with house-made ranch. I had Texas Wagyu Chicken Fried Steak. The flavor was delicious, portion size was good, the potatoes were good, although the gravy was not my favorite. It was $17, but the portion was good and I got slaw. Others got cheeseburgers, a fried chicken sandwich, hot turkey club, though they have a breakfast for dinner option also. I had unsweetened tea, which never went empty. Our server was prompt, courteous, efficient, and did a great job, even though we had separate tickets. I had left a jacket and by the time I realized, then looped back, it was safely being held in the back. My wife and I have eaten here before, it is a popular local restaurant for families, groups, and couples. They have a lot of tasty options with something to please bigger, or smaller appetites. Service is always phenomenal. Parking: This is the old town section of Prosper. There is a small lot down from the restaurant along with angled spots in front. Depending on the time, or season, sometimes parking is a bit more difficult than others.

Another small-ish town bar trying to replicate the trend of big city bars that have an out-doorsy area with a stage and rocks on the ground. The night i went, a Thursday, there was neither a band, nor was I able to try the food. So let me tell you how a blue collar guy from out of town who was dirty as hell from working two jobs (18 hours) was treated. From the word, go, nothing but prompt, professional service. As I stayed, I got to witness genuine care towards the job and real accountability towards the establishment. The staff was warm and inviting, and the drinks were served with care and promptness. Im sad I didnt get to try the food. I live an hour away. I want to come back just to give it a shot, and revisit this review just to say how it was. There was a newer staff member tonight. I would never have known unless they told me - they clearly have prior experience. Even the hostess or waiter (I dont know and dont care - they were excellent!) Was also experienced behind the bar. The staff was actively engaged, and kept things lively. It was as much to their benefit as to everyone elses - a truly organic and natural event to witness. Dont go to a place and judge them on a slammed Friday night. You know what youre signing up for, so how dare you. Judge them off of a regular, boring, nothing special evening where anything or nothing could happen. That way, you can experience when a place like this TRULY shines, with no excuses or expectations. Thats where The Gin turns Thursday into Oh man, Thursday! Go on a week day. Tip the staff. And never regret a moment spent here.

For the order, we had: 1) Chicken Quesadillas 2) Roasted Turkey Club 3) Draft Brews Dos Equis The Food - 4 Stars: Actually impressed with the food. I hear they make a great happy hour pizza too that I want to try. The Roasted Turkey Club was a good choice though the french-fries were probably the best of the meal for me. This isnt just an average bar-food menu either. The Service - 3 Stars: Average. A lot of the waitstaff looked like high schoolers hustling for a buck. Good for them! And they did okay. We did need to ask for refills once and forgot the card when bringing back our check from being processed. We chalked it up to the stress and rush of a Friday night before the towns homecoming football game. Everyone in town might have been trying to get a table. The Price - 3 Stars: ~$43 before tip. The food is good and portions were okay, but not $12 a sandwich good. This isnt a NYC daeli. The Vibes - 4 Stars: Great location in downtown Prosper. Very much a local hot spot and a unique experience with its spacious Western Industrial vide. Parking can be a challenge on busy nights. Overall, I would round up for a 4-star experience. We did enjoy the meal and will need to go back to try that pizza!

The worst service I have ever received in any establishment. I had two drinks at the bar, where 3 bartenders were serving the SEVEN people sitting down. It took me 10+ minutes to get a drink because the bartenders couldn t be bothered to stop chatting in the corner. As I was leaving, the man behind me was also complaining about the service and upset about the incompetence of the workers. It s truly disappointing to see such a cute place with so much potential go to waste because they can t hire anyone who knows how to work in the service industry.

We stopped in at The Gin on Friday night. We were disappointed to be seated right NEXT to the bathrooms; so that we could see every person going in and out, and into the bathrooms with each door swing. Talk about losing your appetite! Our server was fine. However, my husband ordered lemon pepper wings. They were burnt! He complained to the server and she took them back to the kitchen, but then brought them back out!! She explained that they were out of wings because wings are frozen... basically expecting him to eat the burnt wings. He said, never mind and ordered something else. Then he asked for a Bud Light. She told him they were out!! On Friday night at 10 pm they were out of chicken wings AND Bud Light. Poor management. Then he asked to speak with the manager when she brought the bill. The manager took over 10 minutes to come out, and that was only after asking the server a second time to go get him. When the manager finally came out, he had an attitude. My husband asked him if he had heard what had happened at our table (burnt wings they tried to serve him twice, no Bud Light, having to order something he didnt really want and then eat alone bc it came after everyone else had been served and eaten). The manager said Yes. Yet he did not apologize. He actually tried to defend the burnt wings. Even after I showed him a photo!! See attached and decide if those look like fresh lemon pepper wings. He said thats they way they come. He did not apologize for taking so long to come out. He just said I was in the kitchen helping with a customer order. Really? You have an upset customer and you are more worried about helping the kitchen with a new order? He then got up and went to the register... no word... stood there for 5 minutes and when we asked for him to get our server so we could pay the bill he sharply said - I took care of it! Well fine, but that is not even what we were asking for. We really just wanted acknowledgement and an apology, and to provide feedback to someone we thought cared. We will not be back. If you want fresh chicken wings and a popular beer on Friday night, Id think twice about this place!!

Stopped by because I noticed they served sandwiches. So happy I did. It s a very casual place but in a new rustic trendy kind of way. Service was prompt and food was very fresh. Kid-friendliness: My children didn t make it out with me. But there where families with small children there as well. This is a family establishment and kid friendly.

Enjoyed brunch here with a group of ladies while staying in the area. Everything was delicious prices were great. Tanni our server was excellent. We did a little shopping and came back for another round of drinks and great service by Tanni. She was even kind enough to give us a list of local events over the 4th to check out! Would definitely recommend and return of in the area again.

The short version is, well be going back... This place is a rare find for anywhere but even more so in the case of old town Prosper. (I didnt know there was an old town area). The Gin has a cool vibe. Our group hadnt seen each other in a while so we sat inside so we could chat easier. Next time well sit out back and enjoy the live music. The food was a good assortment and good prices. If you like okra... The drinks were good, we ordered from the drink menu on the table and . Between all of us I think we had one of everything, no complaints. But, service can make or break a place. We had great service across the board. Wait staff, hostess stand and food runners. Well done. If you havent been here, go. I think youll find a jewel. Saturday is the only day they do breakfast, next Saturday morning...

I do not think I have had a bad dish here. Some of the best burgers around!! Also their pizzas are delicious and also light. If you are soloing for lunch or bringing a date or your family, i would recommend this place any day of the week.

Good food and cool place but good luck with calling. Tried multiple times for twenty min, stopped by since had to pick up someone in area, they had phone on low and weren t answering it. Was ringing over and over while I was talking to them, they didn t want to answer it. Ordered went back to pick up, it was still ringing sitting there lol.

Came in Saturday October 22nd half empty for lunch. 4 high school girls are at the hostess stand and take my phone number and said it would be 15 minutes. I said okay but the place is almost empty. She said they were short handed, after 45 minutes and they were giggling and counting their pay checks with each other so we just left to another establishment. No one even bothered to call me when my table was ready. I bragged about the chicken fried steak to my friend and I won t come back to this establishment ever again. If the Owners don t care why should we. Really a shame when you leave your business in the hands of teenagers who only stare at their phones. Worst customer service I ve ever experienced. Well they fixed the problems and everything has changed for the better. Best chicken fried steak around. I hope my negative review helped fix the problem because I love this place. Service has never been better. Thanks for listening because I ve been in the business for years and hated to see you fail.

This place is great! You can get breakfast for lunch or dinner, Ive had so far breakfast, pizza and a burger. All are really good next time Im trying the chicken. Fried steak, daughter had the chicken fried chicken and the batter was great so cant wait to try the chicken fried steak next.
