A real hometown joint run by some fantastic people. The brisket and ribs may have been the best Ive had in all 50 states. The turkey was super moist and flavorful. But what Ive truly never had anywhere else was the Caesar Slaw which paired so well with the rich meats. Also the desserts were out of this world (banana pudding and chocolate chip bread pudding ). Bottom line, any place with a neon sign to let you know when they are sold out is somewhere you want to go out of your way to go and try. Thanks for making my first Texas meal one to remember

I recently visited Red Bird BBQ, and I have to say, this place is a gem! One of the cool things I loved is that you can actually see the guys cooking behind a glass window, which adds a nice touch of authenticity. The service was fast and friendly, making the whole experience even better. As for the food, it s absolutely delicious! I had the brisket and scalloped potatoes, and both were amazing. I also got to try the turkey and cornbread pudding, which were equally mouth-watering. The cornbread pudding is definitely something unique and I m glad I gave it a try. The owner is a nice young guy who really seems to care about the quality and service. If you re looking for a great BBQ spot with a modern twist, I highly recommend Red Bird BBQ!

I tried to wait. I really did. Unfortunately, my knees wouldnt let me stand for the length of time required. If I were with someone else, I could have sat and waited. With a business with a slow line like this, my only reason for leaving this review is to suggest throwing together some benches while people wait. Hated I didnt get to try it. It smelled great.

August 10th 2024 We left houston at 9 and arrived at 1030 and there were probably 40-50 people in front of me. First person said they got there at 830. The wait when door opened wasnt long maybe 45min. The crowd was friendly and everyone was excited for the food. We ordered the sampler (1/2lb of all the meats, besides beef rib and only 1 link), an extra lb of brisket, pint of cornbread pudding, single of cheesy scalloped potatoes, pint Caesar slaw, banana pudding, and chocolate chip bread pudding. They were also kind enough to give me some burnt ends which are my favorite. The look. We eat with our eyes first and by all accounts your eyes will be happy. The meat looks moist, smoky, and tasty. The taste. It taste like texas bbq done at the highest possibility. Ive eaten at many of the texas top100. Ive traveled to so many of them across the state. This was wonderful. The flavors from the meat to the sides were incredible. While having some of the best brisket and turkey Ive had in the state, these scalloped potatoes were incredible. Id travel just for this and the bread pudding alone. The brisket and turkey were beautifully cooked and well seasoned. The sausage which is my least favorite usually were good enough for me to go in for 2nd and 3rds. I didnt get eat the ribs my fiance ate them all before I got to them. So it just means Ill have to comeback. This to me worth the 2hr drive 1 way. This is a place in which you have to stand in line to get to the counter to order. Sometimes, the wait can be up to an hour. The next question is...Was it worth it? I smoke a lot of brisket and ribs on my own. I believe I can go toe to toe with any pit in our area. However, I come to Redbird to get some of the best, if not the best, brisket and ribs in the area. Dont even get me started on the scrumptious sides. Amir and Delani have put together a family-friendly combination that should make any barbeque lover smile and want to come back for more.

Phenomenal!! My husband and I recently visited a highly-rated bbq joint in the Austin area, and Redbird easily beats it. Everything is packed with flavor. We loved the sides, desserts, homemade bread, and obviously the meats. Bonus that it is next door to a brewery! Cold beer makes the long wait better, and you can bring your food into the brewery to eat. We will recommend this place to everyone!

I came all the way from Austin to try the BBQ here and it was worth it!!! Amir and his team put together a mouth watering spread of grub!! Highly recommend. Get there early as there is usually a line before they open. 1/2 lb Meat Sampler is the way to go. Definitely worth the stop!!

Amir and his team are great. They are very courteous and welcoming. My order was quickly sliced and trayed, we got through the line fairly quick. We ordered brisket, ribs, turkey, house sausage and the cajun sausage as well. We accompanied the meats with a side of corn pudding, cheesy scalloped potato and red beans and rice. All the meats were excellent and the sides paired well. We were given a pit room tour and a quick walk through of the backroom all in fantastic condition. You can observe the level of pride they take in not only their cleanliness but also in how well organized the kitchen was. It was my first time there just a short drive (1.5 hr) from north Houston. I will make a second trip out to Port Neches for more great barbecue.

SETX you got a MAJOR contender for TX BBQ. The line is justified. The brisket is top notch and the sausage is too. I am extremely impressed by this joint. The ribs are good too. The rolls are a great touch that makes Redbird stand out along with the amazing Scalloped Potatoes. Let me take a moment to praise the Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes they are amazing and the best I ve ever had. I would order a pan of these for holidays, parties, cook-outs, you name it they are amazing. The crew here is amazing, Amir is front and center making sure you are receiving the best food and service they can possibly provide. They are doing it right! My only complaint is as a tea-aholic, I prefer fresh brewed tea. Honestly, I can t wait to go back and share the Redbird experience with friends. Was in the area so I stopped in for lunch. I had the most wonderful experience. I got brisket and red beans & rice to go. The wait in line wasnt long. Finally had our first go at Redbird BBQ. Our sone and DIL have been trying to make this happen for months. She picked up the works, brisket (both lean and moist), pork ribs, turkey and sausage. Scalloped potatoes, cole slaw, baked beans and house pickle slices for sides. All the food was top shelf. The brisket was so moist and tender, even the slice of lean brisket had an excellent bend. The meat pulled from the ribs with just the right tug. Would love to have a sandwich made with the smoked turkey. After we were stuffed and miserable she pulled out a banana pudding which was heavenly. I love trying BBQ as we travel to different areas. This is the best BBQ that I have had in quite some time. Best I have ever had in this area. We will definitely being going back.

They have a to go station, where they have to go boxes , and cups. The plates and to go boxes are made of paper , that is a big plus for me. Just enjoying this Beef Rib on this beautiful Saturday I said I was gonna stop eating out but today was the perfect day to get in and see what the hype was all about. My favorites Beef Ribs, Brisket, and Brisket burnt ends. The burnt ends arent on the menu but if they can snag you some go for it. The Cheesy Potatoes and Caesar Slaw is really good. I wasnt sure how I would like the slaw but its good and refreshing. The BBQ sauce is not your typical sauce. Its a mustard base sauce with the right amount of vinegar and spices. Its really good. You dont need a lot. A little goes a long way. You dont want to over power the flavor of the meat. Just my opinion. The jalapeno cheese green onion sausage was not my favorite. Altho it did taste good. I just didnt like how the cheese was already melted out and the casing of the sausage was a little tougher than I like. The turkey was moist and tender but it lacked some seasoning or maybe a little more smoke. Pork ribs are tender and packed with flavor. The barked tasted like it was candied. Lots of sugar was used on the glaze. Im not a fan of sweet flavors with bbq, but Id definitely get it again. Price: Everything is expensive these days but if you want really good BBQ these days you either gotta pay for it or learn to BBQ. Lol This platter with the beef rib and 2 sides can easily be 4 meals. I think the price for it all is reasonable if you split it with a group. Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair access is by the front door.

This place is just so good. Everything about it. The first time we went was for the BBQ. We had the brisket, ribs, turkey and sausage. Along with the potato salad, slaw salad, and the cheesy potato s, and omg it was delicious! Cooked absolutely perfect. The second time we went was last week for the burgers! We got there right before 11 and waited about 25minutes in line, not too bad. The burger . has changed my life. The first bite I think I gasped and so did my husband. No joke. It s that good. What a wonderful surprise it was to find Redbird BBQ in Port Neches! I got the 1/4lb sampler, and everything was spectacular! The brisket was juicy with the perfect amount of smoke. Bottom line up front: When I went to Redbird for the first time, I expected some of the best in the area, not some of the best in Texas, but thats exactly what I got. In the time it takes me to get to Redbird I could easily make it to any of the greats inside the triangle formed by Houston, Austin and DFW, but Ive now chosen to drive out to Port Neches twice for it. My next BBQ excursion will also be to Redbird. Ive tried it all and they are my new favorite. The food, the service, and the atmosphere are all top notch and its one of the few places Ive been to where I have no critiques, just hopeful anticipation for what the future holds for them. After Ive been disappointed by the consistency of some fairly well regarded names in Texas BBQ, I try not to leave reviews unless Ive had the opportunity to go to a place at least twice. Its still only a sample size of two, but its all I can do when some places are 6+ hour round trips. Ive had very few plates of cue worth two of those trips, and even less of them that left me wanting to go back a third time. Redbird is now solidly a member of those select few for me. The staff has been wonderful both times Ive been there, and even though it was over two and a half months between my first and second visit, they recognized me and thanked me for making it all the way back out there. They make you feel welcome, and maybe it slows down service a little, but it makes it feel very inviting and everyone seems to really enjoy the work theyre doing. The food itself is fantastic. They offer the standard fare of brisket, ribs, turkey, and sausage with beef ribs as a Saturday special. What sets them apart to me is while so many other places use the same or similar rub for everything, Redbird tailors it to the individual meats. The turkey has a Cajun blend with a nice kick, but not too spicy, the brisket is supremely tender with great smoke and a rub that is perfectly peppery with just enough salt to cut through the fat, while the pork ribs have a craveable sweetness to them that is not overpowering. The regular sausage is similar to a Central Texas style with a good spice blend and the spicy cheddar green onion that they have on special is a tried and true blend of flavors that Redbird executes perfectly. Neither of them are greasy like many sausages can be. The owner also let us sample a Persian inspired sausage theyre working on that has a blend of herbs and spices to produce a link that tastes like the best parts of smoked meat and a well made falafel combined. Its something Ive never had from a BBQ joint and I hope it makes it onto the menu full time, or at least as a rotating special. The sides also leave nothing on the table. The scalloped potatoes are the best Ive ever had, and I think I could eat a whole steam tray of them alone. The red beans and rice can hang with the best of the best and are a testament to the predominant cuisine of the region. I would be lying if I wasnt hesitant about the Caesar slaw, but its an excellent take on a classic that provides a dash of freshness and a pleasant palette cleanser to the tray. The rolls are perfection, and while a dollar a piece plus a dollar for some of their beef tallow honey butter may seem steep, you can taste the love that they are made with and theyre 100% worth it. That love translates to the chocolate chip bread pudding as well. The airiness of the rolls gives way to the bread pudding base and takes on a delectably dense texture with a sweetness that is well balanced with the somewhat bitter chocolate. Im really excited by the food theyre producing, and the owner seems open to pushing the envelope while paying respect to the time honored traditions of Texas BBQ. Overall, it would have been rated 5 stars. The staff & atmosphere is great, very active with the customers make you feel like youre at home. The reason why I didnt rate it 5* all around, is that I came for the first time today on a sunday and theyve only had chip beef sandwiches sold out of everything else. The prices are by far more than any of the competitors in mid-county. There also was piece of blonde hair on the bottom of the famous cheese scallops from one of the staff members. I know these things happen m, so I will try them out again hopefully they have a full menu to choose from.

This was my first trip to Redbird Barbecue. We arrived at about 11:30 a.m., on a Saturday. We parked on the street without difficulty. There were about 15 people in line outside. The interior was clean and bright inside. The owner was working the line and greeted us as we began our order. Everyone working the line was extremely friendly and made you feel at home! I had the quarter pound all meats sampler (sliced brisket, chopped beef, turkey, two pork ribs, and sausage), cheesy scalloped potatoes, cornbread pudding, a house roll with tallow honey butter, and banana pudding. The servings were plentiful and left plenty to take home to-go. All the drinks were bottled, which I personally dislike. I ordered two bottled sodas and they left my second one in the cooler until I was ready for it, which I appreciated. Our party of five adults and two young children had no problem getting seating inside. Ive been to A LOT of the top barbecue spots in Texas, and I think Redbird stands with the best of them. It was one of those spots that everything I ordered was excellent! In fact, I didnt hear anyone in our group mention dissatisfaction with anything ordered. This was definitely one of my favorites!

Fantastic! Service was very personable, and nice. They genuinely seemed happy to be sharing their yummy bbq with the patrons. We ordered the meat sampler (unfortunately they were sold out of turkey), a big beef rib, one of each of the sides, and a fresh roll w/ tallow honey butter. Everything was delicious, and tasted very fresh. The beef rib was HUGE, tender, and juicy. The brisket and pork ribs were phenomenal. The sausage had a great snap, and flavor. Our favorite sides were the scalloped potatoes, and cornbread pudding. The Caesar slaw was fresh, and tangy and a great bite after the fatty meats. The potato salad was too heavy on the onions for our taste, but still good. Red beans and rice were very tasty also. The tallow honey butter is a must! Can t wait to go back, and hopefully get to try the smoked turkey. We waited about 45 minutes, and it was worth every second!

I finally made it to Port Natchez, Texas to visit Redbird barbecue and see what kind of skills my bbq brother Eric has on the smoker. I tried the complete menu. I forgot to get some banana pudding . Brisket was smoked perfectly. Ribs deserved an award. Pork is my category. Red beans and rice has to be some of the best I have ever ate. I love cole slaw. Cesar slaw was an original idea and very good. Not sure if I want my slaw any other way now. Dude yall killed it

This place has lots of promotion from local people and friends of their friends. You have to wait in the line approximately 1 hour outside. The brisket was juicy, but needed more seasoning. The sausage and turkey seemed to be processed meat bought at the local supermarket. A great BBQ does not need BBQ sauce to taste good. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Food is a little bit overpriced for the quality.

I ve been to a lot of BBQ restaurants all over Texas. Most of the time what you get is something that stands out above the rest. You ll get 5 star Brisket but the Ribs will be 3 Star or vice versa with any of the food. Here at Red Bird you get 5 Star everything. The Brisket is top tier in Texas. Best ribs I ve had anywhere in Texas. Don t sleep on the Turkey either because it is moist and flavorful throughout. You can t go wrong with any of these unique sides either. Red Bird BBQ is without a doubt is the best BBQ in Southeast Texas. Anyone that lives down here shouldn t consider going anywhere else. We drove from Dallas just to try it and will be back each and every time we come back down this way.

I cannot recommend Redbird BBQ enough! We got there at 11:30 and had to wait outside for about 20 minutes, but it was well worth it! I was worried that there wouldnt be enough seating inside, but we had no trouble finding a table. We spoke to the owner while in line, and he gave us a free brisket sample! We ordered the brisket, pork ribs, cheesy scalloped potatoes, cheddar and green onion sausage, a turkey sandwich, and the chocolate chip cookie bread pudding. We. Loved. Everything! The ribs and brisket were so tender and had the best flavor! I dont usually put sauce on my barbecue, but their sauce is *chefs kiss.* I could write a short story about how good the food was, but Ill just leave it at this: youve got to try this place! We will DEFINITELY be back!

Relatively new BBQ in the Beaumont-Port Arthur, Texas area. While visiting the area, took the time to visit and tried this place which was recommended by some friends. Tried the brisket and pork ribs, and both were very good. The cornbread pudding was also good. Great service by all staff.

Got to visit Redbird BBQ in Port Neches today. Amir Jalali and his crew are putting out some incredible food for just being open six weeks. Brisket was perfection with great bark and tenderness while the ribs were just right with a slight sweet kick. The turkey and sausage were both tremendous. The sauce had the right kick to it. All of the sides were excellent with the banana pudding being the coup de grace to top it off. This spot will be in the next Texas Monthly Top 50, no doubt. A fantastic find. The crew was nice enough to take my group back to tour the pit room and show us some of the inner workings.

I have known Amir for years and have been looking forward to going to his new restaurant. It was almost a 3 hour drive and the food is worth it! While waiting in line they have great music to listen to and provide umbrellas if the sun is too much and chairs if you need one. A staff person from the brewery next door came over and gave samples of beer if you wanted some ( amazing cross marketing)! Also while waiting in line to go in (still worth it) I saw a lot of people exiting the restaurant with bags of food. I wondered if these were take out orders. Well, they weren t! The portion sizes are so large that I will have several meals this week with what I couldn t finish. The food is absolutely amazing! So amazing in fact that there are no pictures attached to this review because we all dug in so fast because we couldn t wait. Every single piece of food from the meat to all the sides were perfect. I wish this restaurant was closer to where I live because I would never have to cook again! Please go to this restaurant and go often, because it is the best BBQ I have had in Texas!

I gave a one star for service because we had to stand outside for an hour and a half after they opened to get inside to order food. It was 90° today. There were elderly people there were small children and they had chairs and umbrellas but you couldn t see them because they had the sign in front of them. The food was pretty good. I wouldn t say it was superior. The meat flavors were really good but their sauce is so vinegary it completely overpowers the meat. I don t think I d wait another hour and a half in line for it though. They may want to consider putting utensils and napkins in your to go order.

Happy to announce that Mid-County now has some really great BBQ. This weekend I had the opportunity to visit RedBird BBQ not once but twice..... Yes it was that good. I was able to try all of the sides. First off the Cornbread pudding was amazing, the red beans and rice was a home run, Caesar slaw was pretty good, potato salad was above average, cheesy scalloped potatoes were very cheesy and tasted great, and the surprise was the Mustard Greens. I dont normally eat greens but man Im sure glad I gave these a shot. You really cant go wrong with any of the sides. My favorites are the Mustard Greens, Cornbread Pudding and the Red Beans & Rice. On both visits I had the chopped beef sandwich....... Really tasty wonderful smoke flavor and moist. We also had the sausage which was really on point. Turkey was moist and the seasoning does not overwhelm you. The sliced brisket was perfectly tender and moist. The BBQ sauce was some of my favorite. To finish up the BBQ spread we had the Banana Pudding...... While its not as good as my wifes its really good and its a must try when you visit.

Today we tried Redbird BBQ and it definitely did not disappoint. We got there about 10:30, were in the door by 11:15, and sitting at the table with our food by 11:35. We got a 1/2 pound of brisket, 1/2 pound of turkey, 2 sausages, the red beans and rice, potato salad, corn bread pudding, rolls, tallow honey butter and banana pudding. Everything was excellent! The brisket was moist and flavorful with a nice bark. The turkey was moist and had a nice smoke flavor that complimented the meat but didnt over power it. The sausage was very good and had a nice spice blend. All the sides were excellent especially the red beans and rice. The house rolls were soft and pillowy and that beef tallow honey butter was a game changer!! The banana pudding for dessert was great! They are cooking true texas hill country BBQ! I have eaten BBQ at some of the best places in Texas, and this is definitely right up there with them. On top of having amazing food the service from the staff was just as good, they have chairs and umbrellas that you can use while waiting in line outside, they had a waitress walking the line taking drink orders and bringing them to you while you wait, they have two big cooling fans to help beat the heat, and everyone was super friendly at the counter where you order your food. If you havent had a chance to try them out then I highly suggest you make your way over to Port Neches Ave and get you some of this delicious BBQ. We are lucky to have BBQ of this level right here in little ole Port Neches Tx. Everyone go down and show them support.
