Visiting from Georgia, loved this restaurant so much we had brunch here two days in a row! Avocado toast and smoked salmon and Normandy French toast were our family favorites and the coffee is to die for!!! We purchased the pecan sweet loaf and the giant cinnamon bun for our hotel room; holy moly they were both delicious and ginormous!!!! Absolutely loved this place!

Very disappointed! We used to LOVE this place and we haven t been in months. Not what it used to be. Cinnamon roll with pecans was very dry. Biscuits were also dry. Jalapeño Bacon was rubbery and no bread samples brought to table like they used to. Disappointing experience! Wonder what happened.

If I could give Zero stars I would! The food is usually good and the customer service stellar, however Ms Paty Lopez ruined the experience for me and I will never return. I ordered my meal and it came promptly. I ordered the chicken sausage thinking it was a patty and not the link. The issue is that I dont eat pork and links are often made with pork casing. I explained the situation to the server and that I could not eat it. He went to ask the kitchen who told him it was all chicken. Years of experience navigating restaurants and trying to avoid pork, tells me this is probably cooked on the same grill as bacon, and that its most likely pork. I sent it back. Lets cut down on confusion and I just wont have meat. No big deal right? Ms Lopez comes over with encouraging words stating that she read the ingredients and there was no pork. I again explained that I didnt want it. She continue to explain that she was confident that there was no pork in this product. I explained again that I would just skip the meat. Back and forth....I just decided to skip breakfast altogether and just pay for the coffee. Her going back and forth was annoying but then she brought the check. I HAD ONLY HAD 1 CUP OF COFFEE. THIS LADY CHARGED 5 BUCKS AND JUSTIFIED IT BY SAYING THAT IT WAS THE PRICE LISTED ON THE MENU. Thats fine but where is the customer service? First you try to bully me into eating something I didnt want and then charge me for a pot of coffee when I only had 1 cup....literally. She could have offered a cup to go at least! Ms Lopez, as I explained to you, when a customer says they dont want something, dont continue to push. Just offer something comparable or take it off the ticket. You handled the situation incorrectly by not offering to accommodate my food preferences and now you have lost a customer. My advice is that if you have specific food preferences dont visit the Plano location. Ms Lopez couldnt care any less. You will be charged full price no matter what the situation is. Thank you to the young man Evan who was just doing his job, and I apologize to the other servers in earshot. Ms Lopez hopefully you have learned something positive from this incident. Taking into consideration that we all have our good and bad days I hope yours gets better. Customer service is what people are paying for not a run down on your store policies. Remember if you run away all of the people your jobs are in jeopardy. This could have easily been avoided.

Quality has gone downhill a lot since the last time we were here. Yet prices have jumped tremendously. Food is Bland, and lacks any finesse. The only thing still decent here is the mixed bread, which used to be complimentary, but they now charge for it. I would try another cafe in the area, plenty of other options.

My husband and I went for lunch around 12:45. It was kind of hot inside; Im not sure if the AC was out, but they had big fans blowing by the front door. It wasnt very busy, but our waitress took a while to get our orders and they were out of a lot of items, both for cocktails and the food. Once our food arrived, it was delicious ! Weve been before and really liked it, just an off day today.

Our server was super sweet and helpful!! Tried her best to get things going. Got waters for our dogs. We DO NOT recommend bringing your dogs or sitting in the outdoor patio in the summer though. We ve had good experiences at other outdoor patios, but it was really hot here. The fans were running, but it felt like we were sitting inside an oven. No mists and they only have two small water bowls. It was 4th of July, so it s understandable but they also seemed short staffed (and it appears other reviewers also noted slow service). The potatoes were a bit sour.. and things felt a little bit dirty. Kind of on the expensive side for what you get as well.

She made us feel very welcome and her positive attitude and jokes had us laughing the whole time. On top of the great food, when Mae found out we were about to drive for 12 hours, she packed us up some assorted breads for the road for no charge. Thank you for working so hard to make our day.

Came in, they gave us a sticky table and we didn t get a menu for 15 mins. The waitress was sweating (nothing wrong with sweating), what was wrong is that she was wiping her face with her hand and then grabbed our plates. Food was terrible, pancakes dry and it only tasted like plain flour, worst presentation for food. The fresh fruit had everything but freshness. All plates were dirty. Went to the restroom and you can see through the kitchen window, a total mess. Everything was really dirty. And to finish the experience, I found a dead (for a long time) rat at the terrace. Want to go here, be my guest, but I don t think this is a healthy place to eat, I don t know how they had not been shut down. Terrible

Reservations not adhered to, so walk in without is fine, typical sunday brunch time wait approx 30. Food arrived warm to table of 4. Banana French toast was simply Banana bread, no hint of being dredged in eggs. Ordered a cinnamon bun for table, came out quick, warm, had good flavor. Normandy french toast had a delicious flavor, however barely warm detracted from the experience. A decaffeinated coffee took just under 20 minutes as ...have to brew it fresh... Will give it a try on a non weekend day, when kitchen has a better chance to meet the demand Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly

Probably the worst bread winners around. Went with my wife and son for breakfast. Hostess that sat us was unfriendly, didn t say a word and felt like we were bothering her. Everything was dirty. Table was sticky. High chair was filthy - we wiped both down with wet wipes we had and they were almost black after. Only staff that was even remotely friendly was the woman who was being trained. The food had clearly mostly been microwaved and made long ago. Bacon was rubber, potatoes were cold. $20 Benedict was maybe worth $8. All around poorly ran / managed restaurant with low standards. Probably won t come back to this one ever.

If you looking for a great atmosphere and service, this place hits the mark. If you are looking for great food, it s a total miss. We ordered the French toast and the farmhouse scramble both of which may be the worst breakfast food we ve had. The eggs were oily and flavorless and gave the Holiday Inn down the street a run for their money. The French toast, often a staple of a great brunch location, was way too soggy and overly sweet a plus if you have dentures but a minus if you like texture. Overall, this is going in my short list of restaurants that I would immediately veto should someone to suggest it as I don t enjoy torturing my tastebuds but hey, there are always a great deal of masochists out there

I been wanting to try this place for a while and finally had breakfast with my friend here. It was not as good as I expected. I had the cheesy brunch potatoes, scrambled eggs and banana foster waffle. The cheesy potatoes were ok. They were a little cold and not much flavor. Eggs were ok, nothing great. I did enjoy the waffle. I also ordered a latte only to find out their machine wasnt working and settled for just a plain coffee which was disappointing. My set of utensils were dirty and I had to ask for another set. Our table was also dirty and sticky feeling like it wasnt wiped down properly. As much as I looked forward to trying this place, it was a let down.

If I could give less than 1 star for service, I would. We waited over 20 minutes for someone to take our order, finally asking for someone to do so. I guess our waitress didn t like that because she could not have been less interested and rude when taking our order. I have a dairy allergy and when I asked if the oatmeal was prepared with water or milk, she said water. I asked again if there was no dairy in the oatmeal since I have an allergy and with a smirk she said there s no milk in water. I was tempted to get up and leave right then, but was with friends. When our order arrived, several things our table asked for were wrong and we never received one item we asked for. I will never go back here and although I have never ever left without giving a tip, I did so today. There s no way I m going to tip someone who is so rude to her customers.

My server never came back to check on me and I finally had to get up and ask someone for help, which they did right away. My friend asked for plain coffee which the server poured directly into the used mocha cup. On top of that I was charged $2 50 because I used my debit card to pay. Holiday orders beware!!!!!! I just did an online order and the online portal doesnt allow you to put in a pickup location. It puts your pickup in Dallas. When I called today to have my pickup location placed at Breadwinners Plano I was told that there would be a 10% delivery fee, almost $25 delivery on top of my food order. Basically more than a dollar a mile for them to get the products form Dallas to Plano. This is not stated onine at all and would be considered a hidden for profit fee! HEB only charges $6-$9 for deliveries that are much further out. You would think after purchasing almost $200 in food there would not be such an extreme delivery fee for a delivery to one of their locations they are already going to!!!!! I also, did a Thanksgiving order and there was no such fee.

We waited forever to give our drink order (was already ready to order) waited to have order taken, set with empty drinks until food arrived, finally got one refill and then had to hunt some one down to get our check. Food for lunch was fair, not nearly as fresh as usual; but the cake slices were less than half the size I normally receive from the other three locations (but still $8/slice)? Restaurant was not busy or crowded at the time. Finally get a check to leave then get a speech from our server about dont leave my tip on the card... The government is doing shady stuff right now...blah blah blah....just leave me cash on the table? What? How ridiculously inappropriate. Very disappointed in every aspect of this location. Very glad this was not my first impression of Bread Winners cafe. I will be back; but definitely not to the Plano location.

November 7, 2023 Update This review focuses on my favorite dessert, not the Plano Bread Winners Cafe & Bakery as a whole. Chocolate cream pie is fantastic. Whipped ream is best quality as is the chocolate filing. Better now than before. This is a wonderful treat whether youre a fan of this dessert or trying it for the first time. ------------------- Called ahead with an order today. Disappointed that the order wasnt ready. It wasnt even started. The employees were just standing around. Furthermore, the team member we were hoping to check my wife out didnt know how to do it, she confessed.Thats obviously poor service. Okay, finding good workers is still difficult, so we consumers have to cut businesses some slack. But for an upscale restaurant like Bread Winners, we were expecting more. At least the coffee and chocolate cream pie were both flavorful, so well be back. And by then, we hope the manager can raise the bar on service for takeouts.

Enjoyed lunch on Friday here. They werent too busy, the service was good, and I really enjoyed the salmon salad. There is construction outside, putting in large concrete pipes under the parking lot, but it is still easy to get in and find parking space. They have a large outdoor patio with full service, which is great for the fall weather.

The prices are high food quality is poor you would think there would be some special touches but u will be disappointed . To top it all they charge you 3.99 precent if you pay by card . Their tip recommendations start at 20 going up to 32 percent . Orange juice is not freshly squeezed either . Ihop will give you better breakfast than this .

I went for the first time ever this past Saturday and we had a lovely kind server. The food itself was great, I ordered the chai latte and the avocado toast. My only comment is maybe the cup could ve been a bit bigger for the chai and the vibe of the cups didn t match the location aesthetic at all. Why the 3 stars? 1) napkins. When my food was initially brought out I wasn t given any utensils or napkins. Utensils was fine as it was avocado toast but no napkins? That s a bit more important. I had to specifically request them and it took a moment before a server came so I could ask for them. 2) tipping. I don t get the idea this place pays their servers very well at all based on their tipping suggestions. The standards I ve seen go about 10-15% for low to mid quality service 15-20% for mid to high quality service And 20-25% for high quality service. The suggestion for this place STARTED at 20% tip and went up to 32%! I still gave the server 20% as she was nice despite the napkin issue. However, the I d say rather outrageous tipping scale to me only suggests this business pays their servers likely only $2.13 an hour for federal and Texas standard and 100% rely on tips which I don t think is completely fair to the servers who are reliant on others goodwill and positive personalities, and the customers who no doubt see price increases in the menu over time like every other restaurant. The 32% to me just highlights their business model needs to make changes to properly care for their own workers themselves. If inflation is hurting your workers, instead of asking customers to fix the problem for you, I suggest raising the servers minimum wage beyond 2009 standards.

Came in for a birthday brunch in August 2023. The family ordered many different items but some of my favorites were the Eggs Benedict, banana bread toast and the normandy french toast. The sweets are truly to die for in my opinion. They were off the hook and now I know to get those over the breakfast or main items. If it weren t for both the french toasts we ordered I would honestly be leaving a 2 star review. The salmon lox was disappointing for the price it was. Black spots on salmon, a very basic store bought bagel and flavorless cream cheese. The egg based dishes were better, but again for the price it had low quality ingredients and tasted average at best. I would happily pay the price for the amazing sweets, I wish they would put the same effort into the savory and main dishes ! Vegetarian options: A few options Parking: Plenty Kid-friendliness: Great place for kids

First time going for brunch in about a year and was so looking forward to enjoying the food. This was a busy Sunday but we were seated after about 10 minutes which was fine. Initially service was good with drink orders taken immediately. Server was super busy as she had 7 tables to take care of including two large groups. Food order was taken after about 15 minutes but it all came out and was excellent (side of bacon was missing but the server was no where to be found). Issues began with our drinks order from the bar not being delivered, the server said a couple of times that the bar was making it but I could see the bar tender was just standing around doing nothing or making drinks that had been ordered after ours, including the tables next to us. When we eventually gave up after 30 minutes waiting and told the server just to cancel them I witnessed the bar tender making the drink after she was told it was cancelled. The server didn t charge us but clearly this bar tender is not capable of doing the job. To be honest she looked like she was a server and had just been thrown behind the bar that morning

Pouched she said yes we ask for temperature here, and they came out fried eggs and asked for eggs Benedict from the beginning she left me taking to ask for the manager that was even more rude and far from customer service oriented!!! Not even mentioned it takes for ever to have a seat and they ignore you when you want to get a drink while you are waiting! Horrible experience.

We had a good time, although the experience arriving there was not as great. I had called on a Friday asking for a reservation for 10 people the following Saturday. A lady said she would call me back with an answer the next day, no call. I called back on Monday and she apologized and told me that she had our group down for next Saturday. Good so far. Saturday, I show up at the restaurant and they tell me they did have our group down and would have the table ready soon, however, another large party arrived and was told they had to wait. I asked the person if that meant our forum would have to wait too, to which they responded: I thought you guys were together. Keeping my composure I asked them if they still had us down for 10 people, they said no. They had to wait for people to leave before they could sit us. Very poorly managed in that sense, they have no reservation system set up. The food and service after we were sat down, however, was great. Our waitress was quick and attentive. Truly great experience if you look past the beginning of it. Hope they solve their scheduling problem soon so we can return!

We enjoy the food but we come back again and again to see Dana. Our grandson loves her and they ve become big buddies. Her hard work is taking a toll and it s likely a matter of time before she will have to give up her table service duties. We hope she can stay on and still connect with the customers, maybe be the restaurant goodwill ambassador. Table service skills have clearly declined over the years in most restaurants and Dana could be a great teacher demonstrating what it takes to get repeat business. Our grandson is already talking about when we can come back for breakfast or lunch, just so he can see Dana again.

We love going for brunch and trying new places! My friend and I went here for brunch for the first time considering that the reviews were great. Well, we re so disappointed. The guy who served us, didn t gave us his name- but the receipt says Fernando, does not seem very welcoming. I asked for a glass of water no ice and he came with ice water. I asked him again with a smile if he can give me water no ice and he looked at me took the ice water came back and placed the water in the table without saying a word and seems distracted in a hurry. His actions were not very pleasant. He makes me feel like he does not like us asking or requesting anything!! When our food was served by another server, he was very nice. Fernando on the other hand never checked back with us if we needed anything. In fact I have to ask another waiter whom was very helpful and gave us what we need. When we were done, we asked for a to go box and I was not even done, he grabbed away our plates and before I could say anything he was already walking away without looking. Customer service is everything to me! I would have come back to this place, if not for the food-which was just okay to me, but with the service we received, would never consider going back!!

Then, when explaining to him that we wanted it split he didn t listen and continued to roll his eyes as if we were a problem or irritating him. I m not sure if it was a bad day or what for him but I don t appreciate it. So, two days later I received a notification saying I was charged more than I approved for when I signed the check. Theyre now requiring a *****3.99%***** charge if you use a credit card. You save money with cash but who uses cash nowadays? They should be making enough money to afford their processing fees without forcing it on the customer. They also close at 3pm now I guess. Went by the other day at about 3:30 - 4 and there wasnt a sign or anything but the main door was locked . Entered in the far left door and the person in there flatly and simply said they closed at 3 and nothing else. Disappointing. The food is pretty good but service is hit or miss. Avoid during lunch hours they are too busy! I waited for 15 minutes with about 10 people (6 different parties) without even being acknowledged by the people that work there. Finally when someone showed to seat the crowd at the door we told the person who the parties were (i.e. 2 people, 2 people, 4 people...etc. In the order of when we arrived) she set the people who just showed up... Ugh. Last thing you want when you have been wanting for acknowledgement! Dietary restrictions: Of the two breads they give you when you sit down, one has nuts. The breads are also touching and do not have a label. Be careful or have your EpiPen ready.

The breakfast tacos were okay but our other 2 meals, just basic breakfast was horrible. The bacon is different and it wasnt warm either. The biscuits crumbled into a bunch of stale crumbs when we picked it up. We were just laughing by this point. We spent $70.00 and we were hungry when we left. I can eat a local Cafe for $35 for 3 of us and the food is better! Will not be back. I was wondering why there only 2 other cars in front.

There s a full bar, patio, fireplace, very clean restrooms and wheelchair accessibility. This is a great place for brunch, solo or family dining. The food was ok.
