Placed multiple calls and left multiple voicemails to seek representation and guidance for a landlord-tenant matter. Despite the outgoing message cheerily saying that Mr. Unell will get back to you, he never did - its been over a week since those voicemails and since Ive retained more competent and responsive counsel.

Knowledgeable. Quick to respond & make an appointment. Came to a conclusion before getting all facts (this was just a consult, however). Arrogant. Not worth $300 consult. $150 would have been reasonable for the service.

Johns help during the closing process for our new home was so invaluable. He was friendly and personable, and was able to explain the documents in Laymans Terms. After our time together we felt that we really understood what we were going to be signing and there were no surprises. If you need or just want reassurance during your home purchase process, I 100% recommend Johns services.

Wow!! Reviews are right! I just called to see if they would handle our situation and if so how do we go about getting set up. The girl immediately said he charges 300 for a consult to see if he can help. I said ok does that go towards any services if we hire him? She said no! I said ok well how do I even know its something he handles?? I said so if I come in and after one sentence he tells me this is something I don t handle, then I just lose the 300!?! She said correct! WTH! Are you kidding me?? Replace your receptionist or change the way you handle new clients. Update: this is a BLATANT LIE!!! Your receptionist NEVER told or offered me the chance to talk to you!! You need to start recording the phone calls bc your receptionist is LYING!! That was my exact question about how do I know if my situation is something he handles!? Her exact response was, that s what a consultation is for !! I said so I book a consult and then if after two sentences he says I can t help you with this then I just lose my 300!? She said correct!!! I don t like liars! I don t mind paying a consult fee WHAT SO EVER!! I just wanted to find out PRIOR to paying the consult fee if my situation is something you handled! She wouldn t advise and she never gave me the option to explain what the situation was or the option to talk to you! You need to do a little investigating on your receptionist. I bet you would have fired her if you heard our conversation. I know I would have. Also your response says you never talked to me like my post says!?! Wow for a lawyer you can t read very well. Never once did I say I talked to you!! I said I called your office and your RECEPTIONIST!

John Unell is my go-to attorney for anything dealing with real estate. He is always on top of the law and knows what to watch out for. In addition to being knowledgeable, he treats me fairly and explains everything until I understand it. I came to him with a difficult situation and he was able to walk me through it, step by step. Thank you John.

John assisted us on the close of our home with a buyer that was unconventional & difficult to work with. After receiving the normal real estate contract, we received many addendums that were confusing and complicated. The timeline was very limited so I sent an e-mail on Friday after business hours. John responded over the weekend & was able to meet with me the following Monday. He pointed out the risks, gave us advice on how to proceed & re-writes to the existing contract. We were able to meet our deadline, make an informed decision & sell the house with no surprises at close. I would highly recommend John; he is knowledgeable, responsive, professional and personable.

I wanted to find a very good attorney for contract advise and well for on going representation for our company as both a residential and a commercial contractor. I did my research for the DFW area. I found that John Unell had been practicing real estate law since 1996, D magazine had listed him BEST LAWYER in DALLAS 2015, he was rated at Superb with 10.0 with AVVO. After the first meeting with Mr. Unell I knew why. Not only could he speak legalese but explained everything so that I could clearly understand and made perfect sense to me. He put me at ease to ask questions and I knew I had found the best representative for me and my company. I would recommend John Unell in a heartbeat to family, friends or anyone! Linda G.

John is one of the savviest lawyers Ive met--and Ive met a good handful of them recently. Hes whip-smart, responsive, and passionate about his area of expertise. If you have the time and money to consult with him, hell do whatever needs to be done to see your issue resolved! No free consultation (its $300 flat), but you get what you pay for. When it comes to your home, the fee is quite literally a small price to pay.

Incredibly rude, arrogant, and unprofessional man. He asks what the case is about and before I got two sentences out of my mouth he told me didnt want to hear all of it and that I would need to pay 300 bucks for him to tell me whether he thought I even had a case. His demeanor was belittling, sarcastic, and rude. As an attorney myself, I am ashamed that this man is a member of bar.
