We opted to try this place rather than go to our usual sushi spot based on reviews... we were disappointed. The flavor of the rolls were either lacking entirely, or overtaken by the sauces on top. There was no balance and the size of these rolls made it difficult to eat. Sushi is meant to be bite sized. These were two bite minimum so it was difficult to experience the full flavor of the rolls. Lastly, One of our rolls had tuna on top and the fish was not fresh. The texture and the flavor was very off-putting. The service was great but the food was meh.

Came on a Sunday ~1pm for lunch. We were the only patrons at the time and got our food promptly. The lunch specials were a great deal! 2 rolls + salad & soup costs between $13-16 depending on if you get standard rolls or standard and speciality. Everything tasted fresh! The Spicy Tuna roll was VERY spicy- as someone who likes spicy food it was slightly too spicy for me. Took away from the flavor of the food. Same with the spicy mayo on the monkey brain (husband wan t a fan of that in general. Too much imitation crab & spicy mayo) Would definitely return again and just avoid any spicy rolls & rolls w/ imitation crab.

absolutely fantastic. my husband, my brother-in-law, and i drove down to dallas for a day trip and this was where we landed on for lunch- we may have to make the 4.5 hour drive back just for this! the prices were so reasonable, the ramen was incredible, the bento box lunch specials were insane, and the service was fantastic. we could not have stopped anywhere better. the ramen was so flavorful and well-prepared and came hot! some places (at least where we live) it s like they have it on a warmer, but here it was steaming! every topping was spot-on. the bento box lunch was also amazing! that s what my husband and his brother got and they loved it! they got different rolls (heart attack, rattlesnake; fire ball, monkey brain) for theirs but we all tried one another s food and every single thing we tried was delicious. the miso soup was genuinely the best miso soup any of us have ever had. and the wasabi was so creamy and high quality! not chalky like some places have! our waitress was so kind and brought us another roll (chop chop) that we absolutely devoured! we loved this place and we could not recommend it more!! go here!

Underrated gem. This was my first experience here, and I left happy and full. The service was quick and our server was both friendly and helpful. Pretty good sushi and pretty reasonable lunch specials. They usually give you extra sushi on the house which is nice; ones usually a very hearty piece and the other is a nice palette cleanser. I think my only issue with the place is that it falls into the pit trap of relying too much on eel sauce, mayo, and frying everything for their rolls. If you like that, thats cool, but as a sushi purist its just a bit much for my gut. Overall, a good place for sushi, especially American rolls.

Quaint and quiet Japanese restaurant good for a quick meal or leisurely vdinner with friends. Tucked into the corner of a small strip mall, the storefront is unassuming and plain. The inside impresses with a simple and clean atmosphere. Korean or Japanese music plays at a moderate volume over the speakers in the ceiling while K-Pop videos play in silence on the TVs. All of this wrapped in dim lights and dark-painted walls. This is my third visit at UmiUmi, and they never fail me. I have tried regular sushi, fried rolls and the sushi roll bento so far. All were delicious and at the level or exceeded the level of larger, more expensive restaurants. The portions are appropriately sized, and I do not leave feeling hungry or stuffed(unless I over-ordered from the sushi menu) The staff are always pleasant and attentive. I never have to wait to order or pay my check. Truly a wonderful experience. UmiUmi has become my new go-to Japanese restaurant.

Sure its not Don Don poke but its in the same space. I was skeptical at first when I saw the menu but the dishes we ordered were very good: scallops and udon noodles soup. It was tasty and exceeded expectations. Presentation was elegant! Service was solid! Decor is much more upscale. Looks like they specialize in crispy rice wedges: yummy and highly recommended! 12/8/23 came back again after about a year and this dish is still as good as the first time!! It came out hot and savory with the nice crunchy chewy rice wedges that really soak up the yakisoba sauce! In fact I m surprised the cost hasn t changed despite the pervasive inflation! 1/12/24 decided to try something different! Wasn t particularly hungry but order Cajun edamame which was buttery, tender, with some noticeable spices. So tender some beans came out! The Seared French Kiss portions are humongous and delicious! Also had the plain Spicy Salmon rolls with added avocado no charge with eight large pieces. Wasn t expecting such generous portions. House salad was a large bowl with ginger dressing which makes it easy to consume! And once again the hostess presented a complimentary crispy sushi roll with rolled cucumber! Despite being super packed in a Friday night the food came out in minutes. Charges were unexpectedly low based on the volume of food. Pleasantly surprised and very impressed!!

I call umi umi let them know our discovery. The lady tells me okay thank you . Zero thought of how to make this right, no can we remake it for you or anything. Good little sushi spot. Some of the special rolls are really large around. This is a good thing for value, but I find it difficult to chew the big pieces in one mouth full and Im a average size grown man. Biting them in half doesnt work well either as everything falls apart, especially holding the pieces with chopsticks. Fingers usually work ok for me. Other than that, the lunch special is a great deal! One special roll, one regular roll, Miso soup and a salad for around $17. Its a meal!

My camera doesnt do it justice because its my android phone but this place is amazing. I didnt expect it because the area outside doesnt look that nice but inside is a whole other story. We were happily surprised by how well managed it was. We have had multiple different rolls and soups and multiple kids meals and they were all so delicious and fresh. The ingredients dont make me feel sick or bloated unlike other places. Everytime we order here we have gotten a complementary roll which we always love too. This is such a nice, quiet and clean, simple dining room and wonderful meal. Green tea was very nice. Don Katsu Ramen isa fantastic. Miso Ramen also fabulous. We tried a special appetizer, Agadashi Tofu, lightly fried tofu in sweet teriyaki type sauce. So tasty. We were brought a couple of slices of rolls to try, Chop Chop and Hawaiian Cool...both were very tasty and interesting. A really great evening meal. There are several items and the varied menu we will want to try almost everything. Update, we have been back almost weekly. Everything was great except the tonkatsu bowl (sliced pork breaded and fried over rice), that was so much meat and it felt tough and looked a bit processed and a very plain dish. The spicy tuna is 2 peppers hot, no lie, its very spicy. Consistently such good food overall. Kid-friendliness: Autistic child had no issues. Ive been visiting this place multiple times, and without fail, the sushi always exceeds my expectations. Its simply outstanding! My usual order consists of the French kiss roll (no rice) and castle rock, but today I decided to try something new: the salmon carpaccio, which practically melts in your mouth with its incredible sauce. The black spider roll, featuring deep-fried soft shell crab both inside and on top, is a delightful indulgence. And the spicy salmon roll here is not your average; theyve added extra sauce and some crunch to elevate it. Every dish was incredibly delicious! Great dinner on Thursday night. We enjoyed everything before we took any pictures. We had a tuna poke bowl, salmon teriyaki and a butterfly scallop plate. I expected thin Butterflied scallops. They were grilled, served on a bed of veggies between two wings of crispy rice. Delicious... I posted a picture of the restaurant. Its just off Avenue K below Spring Creek and easy to miss. Ordered takeout here today and got a little surprise with my specialty sushi roll to-go. The chef included a fried rice cake. That was absolutely delicious and such a nice little treat. In addition to my excellent French kiss roll. I love the French kiss because it s rice free and has plenty of meat packed inside. It cost a pretty penny, but I feel like it s worth it for all the care and love that goes into it. If I were to critique it a little bit, I might say it would be great to add some cucumber or a little more crunch in addition to the thin red onion slices. I think it would add a little bit more texture to the excellently flavored roll.

This place is GREAT. My husband and I eat ALOT of Japanese food, and this has been one of our favorites, ever. Have ordered two times now from Doordash, and both times were blown away impressed. The presentation, packaging, thoughtfulness on the extras like sauces and chopsticks/napkins- all great. Somewhere we will definitely visit in person, and continue to order!! So happy to have found this place.

Umi Umi has incredible dishes, all created with attention to detail. The fun names really add to the atmosphere. The service was impeccable and we felt so welcome. Their ramen is delicious. The Chop Chop roll is tasty and a bit reminiscent of a mild volcano roll. If you are looking for a refreshing roll, the Cool Hawaiian roll was the best cucumber roll I have had. We cant wait to go again. Vegetarian options: Several tofu options.

My husband and I LOVE this place. The food is amazing. There has not been one thing we dont like here. This place makes the best rolls and their Yaki udon is ridiculous, a must. The owners are always so nice, they bring complementary sushi to try. I definitely recommend this place!!

We miss the old Don Don Poke, but we heard good things about the new place! The portions were huge and we are glad the quality and value are still there. Everything tasted good and with the amount we ordered I think they included a tiny sample of something on the house, very appreciated! We ordered through DoorDash and it was a good experience, I called right after to make a change/addition and they did it no problem. We will definitely try to dine in since it was a great experience overall and delicious

Had the Salmon Teriyaki and I had to google the definition of teriyaki to see if I got it wrong. Did teriyaki secretly mean carrots and broccoli this whole time and I never knew during 34 years of my life? I had a single thin slice of salmon and a whole bunch of carrots and broccoli. I am appalled that I paid extra for salmon when they basically had traces of salmon in the dish. Not coming back again.

Not sure why this place is rated well. It s one of the worst sushi places I ve ate at. The meat did not taste fresh, the rice was hard. Very off putting. Tough/hard raw fish in my burrito, you couldn t bite into it, and their rice was hard in both the burrito and tower. What a waste of money. Never eating here again.

Very accommodating staff and wonderful service! It was my first time trying this place since I found such raving reviews from a Facebook group (Asian Grub in DFDUB). Everything looked and tasted so good! Give this place a chance. Pricing was super reasonable as well. My favorite that you need to try is the Scallop Butterfly with the crispy rice!

Want a nice little gem. I gave them a try because of all the rave reviews and so glad that I did. We got 2 lunch combos, 1 with a basic salmon roll and a Princess roll and the other with a basic Louisiana roll and house sushi. Both came with soup and salad. More than enough for the 2 of us. Delicious! They also gave us a few rolls on the house to try. Will be coming back for sure.

The Rainbow Roll is PHENOMENAL! Our inexperience with the menu lead us to 2 entrees we didnt care for. But, the rest of the food was great. The only drawback was that the server didnt understand English very well. We will definitely be back again. My son is already dreaming about another Rainbow roll.

After a disappointing error with Uber eats my order was abandoned by Uber. The staff went above and beyond to find the order in their history and went straight to work making it right. The food is delicious, the presentation even in to go fashion is stellar, and I can t say enough about how nice everyone was I dealt with. My only regret is Uber eats not allowing us to leave an appropriate tip for pickup.

French kiss roll was the recommended dish and it is really good! Love the Las Vegas deep fried roll as well. Theres so much options to choose from and their presentation is as good as the taste!
