If you want something to start selling, say its Italian. Unfortunately, this trick works and Mangia Bistro seems to be no exception. I ordered the prosciutto and spicy honey pizza. The put everything and a lot formula isn t always the best option, especially for making pizza. I give 3 stars instead of 1 star with great hope that that day some unexperienced employee threw whatever he was able to find on the pizza, then sprinkled everything with a thick layer of cheese that would be more suitable for some Mexican dish, and the real recipe is different from what I got. Well, if not, then the name of the pizza should be changed to whatever with parsley on top

Excellent! Everything was absolutely delicious and the service was quick and friendly. Food was so fresh and right out of the oven. Definitely recommend the carbonara, pizza, minestrone, and manicotti. We will be back!!! This is not an Italian place and neither is the food. As an Italian I can confirm that it is absolutely terrible. I ordered spaghetti aglio e olio and they served me a horrible dish Zero flavor, in addition there was basil, lemon and dried tomatoes on the plate. Disgusting. My son had a carbonara topped with cream and diced ham. A friend of mine had a margherita pizza served with pesto that tasted horrible. Needless to say, if you use the name Italian cuisine you have to change products and go to cooking school. Lastly, I inform you that the chef is Albanian. Change jobs, Italian cuisine is an art Unique.

This was our fourth time going to this restaurant. I joined their vip list after our second visit and I remember this being one of my favorite Italian restaurants for many reasons. Food, service and staff were all reasons for our fondness of Mangia and past experiences have been wonderful. That s where the good times ended, in the past. I celebrated my 53rd birthday this past weekend and Mangia was the last stop on my weekend staycation and it was the most disappointing. My wife treated me to brunch, a winery visit and dinner in McKinney Texas on Friday. We went to brunch on Saturday and visited Mangia for dinner and it was by far the worst of the entire weekend birthday celebration. Our server was pleasant and very gracious as I ll demonstrate later. I ordered a salad and my wife and our guest ordered stuffed/ some type meatballs for our appetizers. Never notified that my dinner choice included a salad which was placed but not requested until our dinner guest arrived. All food was received and appeared satisfactory at that time. We all asked for doggy bags because we didn t finish all of our meals. Now we ordered and paid for our meals and I also ordered some of the very delicious oil that they provide for dipping as a side with the bread. Remember I chose this restaurant to celebrate my birthday and I ve never asked for something I m not willing to purchase however I m accustomed to a restaurant offering the birthday person some but the server stated that management doesn t give anything free which I replied no worries and we finished our drinks and packaged our leftovers. During this time the sweet young lady approached the table and asked what type of dessert I wanted because she felt bad about the issue and said she wanted to get me something from her heart. How sweet? Of course I didn t allow her to do that but I thanked her for offering. We eventually left for our hotel room and later that evening and actually over in the wee hours or the morning my wife became sick. She eventually was able to get rid of the sickness and get some sleep. The morning came and she had a conversation with our guest from my birthday dinner and found that she also became sick after dinner as well and I m thankful that I didn t. Very long story short, I ve patronized this restaurant several times and even chose to visit for my birthday celebration and realized that they didn t care about my choice to pick their restaurant, the food was not up to par and the management didn t do anything to make this something special for me. We won t be back but I wish a special blessing for the young lady, our server who seemed to be the only person there who cared as much as we did.

August 2024 We have been looking at Google review before finally deciding to give it a try. A large birthday party was here when we arrived. Thus we know that we need to place our orders before the large party orders. We ordered the Mediterranean mussel appetizer ( a garlic bread will be great if this dish is offered) However, the complimentary bread was fresh and garlic oil is flavorful. We enjoyed the appetizer. However, the speciality pizza (1/2 meat lover and 1/2 spicy honey) was on the salty and greasy side. We are happy with the portion size. My wife ordered the veal saltimoca with 2 pasta. She enjoyed it. My daughter ordered pasta carabunara, it tasted kind of bland. However, the side salad with house dressing is pretty good. My rating as 5 is very satisfy Taste 4/5 Temperature 4/5 Speed of service 3/5 ( due to the big party) Cleanliness 4/5 Attentiveness/ courteous 4/5 Will I return? Unsure Will I recommend? Undecided. Parking: This parking at this location compete with the restaurant next door. Do pay attention when parking.

(We did get our side salad and some bread about 30 mins after ordering). The place was about halfway full on a Saturday evening, and it didnt seem crazy busy or anything. The server was nice but wish the service was a lot faster.

After eating at Aboca s in Richardson and having such a wonderful experience, we tried Mangia Bistro as the same person owns both establishments. This restaurant had an odd location to access, a very bland look with a long wine rack being the only authentic look of an Italian bistro. There were only 2 tables with customers and after getting water, waited 10 minutes for a server to arrive. Cheese sticks were good, salad was laden with egg (should have asked), chicken parm was average with pasta marinara barely present. Going to stick with Aboca in Richardson where the staff is excellent and engaging, the atmosphere is authentic, and the food is superior

Plano, we need to support Mangia Bistro! It is very good, but hard to find! We had a fantastic lunch today at Mangia Bistro! My wife had Linguini with Clams, and I had Chicken Picatta. The bread with olive oil and garlic was really great. Our house salads were some of the best we have ever had. We need to support Mangia Bistro as it is hard to find. It is behind AVIS/Budget car rental on the Northbound access US75 (Central) just South of 15th Street in Plano. Try Manggia Bistro. You will not be disappointed. Their wine selection is unbelievable! We both had take-home boxes as the serving are large and could be shared. As a bonus. you get American Airlines dining points here!

I m giving 5 stars for the food, which was quite delicious. We had mussels as an appetizer, Caesar salad, cannelloni, and manicotti as our lunch. But I couldn t give 5 stars for the service. Our order was taken promptly, and the food was brought to the table promptly, but my empty water glass was never refilled, and the dirty plates from early courses stayed on the table for the entire meal. I liked the atmosphere, primarily because it was quiet, but otherwise it wasn t anything special. I hope to go back, and perhaps the service will be a bit better next time. And I hope others patronize it, because it is a good option for Italian food in Plano.

I come from a NY Italian family so my expectations for Italian food are high. I wish it were possible to give 3.5 stars. Favorites include Miss Pasta, Mio Nonno, Numero 28, Roman Cuccina, Pizzaria Testa, Taverna and a couple others. We visited Mangia on a Saturday evening for a quiet birthday dinner. It was the first time so we made reservations via their website. Never received a confirmation email or text but when we arrived, it was obvious that a reservation was not needed. Very few tables were filled and many of the diners appeared to be retirees. Service was good. The server seemed inexperienced but he was attentive and got the job done - nice young man. Ordered Mozzarella sticks: the consensus was that they were probably a frozen product but not as good as supermarket quality, breading was very bland and the sauce was average. Meatball appetizer was good, no complaints on the red sauce. Biggest disappointment was the Caesar salads. Each of us ordered as part on the entrees. The lettuce was fresh but the dressing was HORRIBLE. Very thin/watery and did not taste like true Caesar dressing. I ate half, the other two were sampled and rejected. The entrees were good but not amazing (Tartufo, Fettuccini Alfredo w/chicken & Chicken Saltimbocca). Flavor, portion size and sodium level were perfect, each of us left with some extra food. Pasta was slightly overcooked but did not bother us at all. We ordered dessert to finish the night (Lemon cake, cheese cake & creme brulee). No complaints again and we ate as much as possible. Atmosphere was average, it didnt feel like an Italian restaurant. Prices were very good considering how much inflation has impacted most restaurants. Overall, a good but not great experience. I dont believe this place will make the list of our favorites but may try again in the future. Must fix that Caesar dressing!!

A HIDDEN GEM! Went there just to check it out and will be taking my family there for italian from now on. Owner was one of the nicest people I have met, and the food was amazing. Best homemade Ceasar Salad I have ever had. Pasta was fresh and the bread was amazing. Also couldnt belive how little it cost for what we got. I wish I had found this place sooner. Highly recommend! Edit: after reading the few bad reviews I wanted to add - if you are going there to get in and out you will be disappointed. This is an old school, come in and hang out with the family type place. The staff comes to your table and chats you up. They talk with you and invite you to check out the kitchen. If you are one of those people who insist your water glass is constantly full and your food is out in 10 minutes you will be irritated, but if your idea of a nice time is casually hanging out while your uncle cooks you up some of the best homemade pasta you have ever had, this will be a very pleasant experience. The food and service are excellent, you just have to drop the American chain restaurant expectations for something more European. Parking: Easy, free parking. Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly

My fiance and I both got bad food poisoning. As soon as we walked in we noticed the place smelled weird, and both our salad and pasta had a weird aftertaste. And then got violently ill the next day. I think maybe the sauce and dressing were expired or rancid or something. I have been sick for a week and finally had to go to the doctor for antibiotics. All because this place decided to serve, most likely in my opinion, expired food.

Wine selection is extensive (see photos), good service and great Italian food! My husband went out to celebrate a good event and ate at Mangia Bistro. This restaurant has a very experienced chef in the kitchen named Artur who owns this restaurant. His specialty is recommending a bottle of wine from his selection or suggesting a selection from his menu. Look at the choices, you might need his help! We ate Italian standards which might be boring to some, but this was delicious for us. If you like to order something new Im sure it is available. The Mangia house salad and fresh bread begin your dinner and the taste is so fresh. Attention to detail with a house salad is uncommon these days. The lasagna and spaghetti with meatballs was hot and fully devoured. I took photos to show you the quality and what you can expect. Hopefully you will meet the chef/owner when you come. If that is not enough he makes fresh cakes for dessert! I think I will come for wine and cake some evening as well. Cheers! I think you will like Mangia Bistro and come back again as well.

Really authentic Italian food! So fresh and delicious! They seem a little understaffed, but the staff on a Saturday night handled it well! I love the non-Americanized version of food, but would be easier to drag my parents if they had a seemingly-traditional spaghetti and meat sauce. Thought I saw it on the menu online, but server didn t know about it so guess not! Stuffed mushrooms were so good, but the sauce has a lemony taste, which was delicious to me, but my friend didn t love it, so just wanted to call that out. Everything else was pure YUM!

My family and I enjoyed our dinner at Mangia Bistro immensely. The charcuterie was full of a delicious assortment of meats, cheeses, olives, dates, and nuts. The pizzas were among the best Ive ever had - sausage and fennel was like one I had in Rome. Also had perfectly spiced arrabiata pasta, chicken piccata, and generous sized salads. Two downsides to our visit, though. One of our guests received the wrong pizza, and unfortunately he had to wait quite a while to get a new pizza. It would have been nice if the manager at least came over to apologize for the error and the wait. And there were no cannoli available for dessert, which we were really looking forward to. We would definitely return if we lived closer.

Had one of the best nights out at Mangia last night!! Went with a small group of friends and enjoyed it so much we plan to go back next weekend! The waitstaff and manager were so attentive and fun. Our waiter Abe could not have been nicer and made our dinner extra special. And we were all so impressed with the amazing seafoods and pastas, as well as super fresh and tasty salads and amazing house made bread. The food was beautiful, fresh and delicious!!! Also enjoyed the in house bar. Such a great variety of wines and other drinks. Atmosphere was very attractive, comfortable and relaxed. We will definitely be going back soon!! Vegetarian options: The pasta primavera and most of the salads and pizzas and pastas can be made vegetarian. So many options and all delicious!

Nestled in the rear of the parking lot, this gem might be missed by some, but its worth discovering. The reasonably priced menu offers fantastic food. The complimentary bread with garlic-infused dipping oil is a delightful start, and the generously sized salads complement every dinner item. My seafood Cioppino was a seafood lovers dream. The kitchen exudes authentic Italian flair. The wait staff is not only helpful and knowledgeable but also unobtrusive, providing a refined dining experience. The overall atmosphere is less formal than fine dining, leaning more towards a cozy and approachable Italian eatery.

This place is absolutely phenomenal! My hubby and I truly enjoyed our experience dining with them tonight. We savored every bite of each course. I love that they bring out house made bread with garlic and olive oil- NOBODY DOES THIS ANYMORE. You can tell all of their ingredients are fresh and nothing is frozen. The pictures don t do the food justice. I m not a big calamari fan but we order it because my hubby loves it but I can genuinely say it was really good- so good that we finished the whole thing. I love that their pastas come with a side salad. They even turned a basic caesar into a mouthwatering salad. The owner was so friendly and generous. We could tell he was loved by his staff and regulars by the vibes of the restaurant and his interaction with everyone that walked in. Shout out to Isaiah, our server for taking such good care of us. It was so refreshing to go out and receive great service and great food for a VERY reasonable price. We will definitely be back to try more items in the menu. I highly recommend them for big or small parties, as there layout is unique and spacious!

NO to Mangia in Plano!!! I saw so many recommendations for it and it was awful. We went for my husbands birthday and not a single dish was good. Oil for the bread was rancid. Salads lettuce was old and wilted. The calamari was so chewy we had to spit it out. The entrees were clearly frozen food. And the literal cherry on top was that they put maraschino cherries on the scallops and risotto yep MARACHINO CHERRIES!! Don t believe me I have a picture. It was very very expensive for the quality of the food. Highly disappointed. We hit up in and out on the way home

The bread they serve before the meal is soft, hot and amazing!! Calamari is a must!! I came specifically to try Arrabbiata, as I was craving this spicy dish, with Italian sausage!! It was tasty, but I was really confused because there was absolutely NO spice to it either the chef forgot the peppers, or they didn t think I could handle it. It was a good meal, but probably won t be back because of that. If you advertise something as spicy, make sure it is!!!

I ordered Calamari appetizer, Lasagna, Seabass dinner, pizza for the grand kids, and scallops dinner. The food was excellent and reasonably priced, the service was outstanding and very accommodating to our needs. Overall a very good experience. The bread, calamari, and salad were amazing. The service was very friendly. The restaurant was super cold, which would normally be great in Texas, but was not tonight when the weather was already cool. The carbonara had good flavor, but was unfortunately not well made. Rather than emulsified into a sauce from the pasta water, the egg was cooked, so the dish turned out more like a ham and cheese scramble than the silky pasta meal i was expecting. I do recommend the restaurant, but do not expect authentic carbonara if you decide to go.

Attention all Plano residents, please give Mangia Bistro a try. We went last night, found the food very good and a departure from other area family run restaurants. My wife had a spicy chicken dish that was yummy and my penne short rib baked dish was truly delicious. The salads were very fresh, and the bread was served fresh and warm. We ended up purchasing a full bottle of wine which we NEVER do because of the price, but our $20 bottle for $40 seemed reasonable at the time. The wine list is very extensive and they do have glasses reasonably priced. OH and before i forget, the meals are reasonably priced as well. We had a great experience and will come back for sure.

Hands down the best Italian restaurant in Plano! This place by far exceeded my expectations in Texas. This was my first visit and wish I would have found this place sooner. Beautiful and cozy atmosphere plus there s an outside patio area for the nice days. The restaurant wasn t packed and we were greeted as soon as we walked thru the door and told to choose our seats. I went with the servers recommendations and glad I did! I ordered the Saltimboca and it was heavenly! My friend and her daughter also ordered two dishes and they loved their dishes too. The owner came out and greeted us as well and to make sure that we liked the food. I thought that was a very nice touch to add to the outstanding food and service. I read some of the negative reviews so I d like to shed some better insight if possible. THIS RESTAURANT MAKES FRESH AUTHENTIC ITALIAN CUISINE . Which means that it does take a while to get your food because they are making it fresh but we didn t find that as a flaw because the food was worth the wait and we left with a great experience. I d suggest if you re in a rush try a to go order but if you want a nice evening out with your friends and family then relax and get yourself a table inside!

We wanted to eat as a family and was checking for a new Italian place in Plano/Richardson area and found this place in maps. We came because of the really good reviews. I have to say, the reviews are great, but the experience was even more richer. The ambiance is of a traditional Italian family owned restaurant, blended with a modern table setting, light and music. The welcome was very Italian family style. From drinks to appetizers, from bread to soup, main course to dessert, the authentic family Italian touch prevails. It is visible in interactions with the restaurant team and wonderful to the palette. They just opened in Dec 2022 and is picking up patronage. I am very sure this place is going to rock the Summer of 2023. I recommend this place to people who are in or visiting DFW.... BRAVO! Ottimo pasto!! My tastebuds were truly transported to a dinner in Tuscany. I havent been this impressed with a restaurant in some time. From start to finish was top shelf. So much to choose from, but after 30 minutes of casually perusing the menu over a glass of delicious white wine, we settled on two dishes. The bronzino was tender, flakey & flavorful (not drowned in sauce, as is the case in many restaurants). The linguini Primavera had an amazing amount of flavor-rich veggies that were still firm (instead of overcooked mush). My absolute favorite. The bottle of sangiovese was devine. We also brought home the cioppino to enjoy tomorrows dinner. This will totally be my go-to for Italian cuisine. Ciao, for now.
