Been here half a dozen times. Everything s been great. Highly recommend the Quezadilla Azteca. I get it with veggies and spouse with beef, just excellent. Their Pflugarita is also spectacular. Best corn tortillas I think I ve ever had. Vegetarian options: Some items are clearly vegetarian but even those which are not the staff is very accommodating.

Finally some authentic Mexican food around Austin!! We stopped here on a Friday night and was not crowded a lot . They had enough parking . We didn t order alcoholic drinks and ordered the mango pineapple juice which was so refreshing ! The guacamole was freshly made and tasted good and chips were not store bought ones which was pleasing . Ordered the bistek a la Mexicana tacos and the spicy verde chicken which were great . Tortillas looked handmade and the rice and beans was of great quality . The only thing we didn t like that much was the fish tostada and it had the really raw smell of fish . But they have so many authentic options and would definitely come back !

1 Beef Fajita, 1 Chicken Fajita, 2 Topo Chicos, 1Side of horrible guacamole. No alcohol. $58 + Tip. Overpriced. We paid $12 for a tiny Guacamole mixed with shredded lettuce, because they dont sell it separately from chips, even when requested. We both agreed we wont be returning. Servers were friendly though.

The best mexican food (family owned) i have ever had in my 10 years of living in USA. Their chipotle chicken quesadilla azteca, chicken and beef gorditas taste amazing. They are full of flavors. Their bean and rice are our favourites now. Just the rice has an amazing flavor to it, They are very friendly and give us a lot of recommendations. And yes if you want to eat spicy you should for sure come here.

We tried the restaurant because of the reviews, that was a mistake. We waited 1 hour for our food, with only 6 people in the restaurant ( we counted). The quality of the food was poor. I ordered fajitas meat on my dish, it was mystery meat. They added an automatic 3 % for using a credit card without asking how we were paying. Over all experience was poor. There are many Mexican restaurants to choose from, pass this one up.

I love Mexican food and was excited to try this place, but sadly, I was not impressed. I ordered the Quezadilla Azteca, their most popular item, hoping for a great experience since everything is made in-house. Despite its reputation of giving large portions, it was only the size of a standard quesadilla. The meat was dry, and the overall dish was quite dense with all the ingredients. While the quality seemed good, I thought it was quite overhyped for the price. The menu advertised a choice of meat for $16.99, but I was charged an extra $1.50 for carne asada, which wasn t clearly indicated on the Signature Entrees page. Additionally, there was a 72-cent credit card fee that wasn t mentioned beforehand. The service was also slow, taking 30 minutes for my food to be ready. Overall, $20 for a single quesadilla is expensive, especially given the quality and service I received. I really wanted to like this place but I don t plan on going back.

This place is a hidden treasure. The food is freshly made, the staff are original and engaging and the value is spot on. The shrimp three ways is awesome but one piece of advice is to have the fresh strawberries and cream on stand by for the moment you hit the shrimp diabla. Seriously though they bring the heat but in a good way without masking flavor that only a skilled culinarian can. My date and I were so impressed with the service and friendliness of the whole team. One last thing they told us was that they will be bringing fresh daiquiris to the menu along with margaritas. And promised these would be made with real blended fruits and juices none of those over processed syrups at this place. They will even offer alcohol free versions as well.

I dont know what the issue was but everything was terrible. We never got greeted when entering the restaurant and didnt know if we were supposed to seat ourselves or wait. There was only one other party but the waitress took a very long time to bring us drinks, food, and finally the check. We couldve left 30 minutes before and the only way we received our check was because the owner was walking around and we asked for it. I got the flautas and the whole dish was bland, barely warm, and dry. It was supposed to come with homemade dressing or sauce but didnt receive it. I also asked for black beans but received refried beans so had to wait again for that. The chips you receive are okay but the sauce is thin and tastes like something from a bottle. The amount of food is small for the price as well.

The enchilada sauce cleared out my sinuses!..at least I dont have to take any Sudafed today My friend who came with me was also blowing his nose the entire time it was good tho. The server did come back to let me know that the sauce was going to be spicy, which was fine, I said. I cant see that being the actual every day sauce tho.... Maybe it was a bad batch and we were the guinea pigs? My throat is still burning hours later.. Im alright tho, I prayed over my food. When she came back to fill up my water, there was no ice cubes in it I didnt wanna look like a wuss, so I just shut my burning lips and sucked it up in front of my friend I may come back and try something else... Quite possibly..maybe..definitely might.

We ordered tacos from Huahuasco Grill for takeout. Their tacos are slightly more expensive than what you may find at a taco truck, but their generous portions and powerful flavors more than justify it. I did not try the barbacoa but saw the portion size was easily twice what I typically get from other places. The signature trio was extremely flavorful. Although I can t identify which one was which, all three were stuffed with meat to the point it was falling out and were extremely tasty. They also have six different sauces made in house that ranges from mild to pretty spicy. In my opinion the spiciest (red sauce) was the perfect level of spice to where you were almost tearing up but couldn t stop coming back for more. Overall I was extremely satisfied with my experience ordering from Huahuasco Grill. Their food and sauces were extremely tasty and filling. I would recommend anyone in the area visit them for some amazing tacos and easily see myself coming back in the future.

Update: Had dinner here again and everything was great. Started with some aguas fresas (Pina, limon, and tamarind) that were very refreshing. We all had enchiladas. My kids and I got the Verde salsa which was a nice traditional tomatillo salsa and not spicy. My wife got the red salsa with beef enchiladas. When they say its spicy, believe it! It was like melt your face hit but if you dont regularly eat spicy food, youre going to want some water. We ended with some cheesecake and chocolate mousse. Both of which were approved by the kids. We plan on trying the michoacan style enchiladas next time. Definitely recommend . The ordering system is different but outside that, everything was fantastic. We were given samples of the horchata. It was sooo good. We had tacos, chicken enchiladas, Verde enchiladas, and a signature dish similar to the restaurant name that I just cant recall. It was well seasoned and the green salsa just set it off. We also had queso wich was also tasty with cilantro and jalapenos. Definitely one of those hole in the wall places worth checking out. Plan to spend ~$18-20/person.

Really neat spot with authentic Mexican food and great service. The set up is a little different and can be confusing- you essentially order and pay via phone while dining in. Im not convinced this is the best for business, especially for customers not tech savvy, older clientele, or those with language barriers. However, I did witness a table paying in cash that was able to bypass the phone method. Regardless of that, the food is definitely worth the visit. I will likely order for pick up next time. Also- the fresh chips and suggested salsa, along with the agua de piña was amazing!

Craftsmanship comes to mind. The owner/chef came out to discuss the food before and after. Everything was superb. My salad had a pinch of pineapple that gave it nice snap. Everyone else had tacos and gorditas that loved them. Experienced and newcomers to authentic Mexican food all sung praises. Keep up the great work!

The beans and rice in a restaurant are usually sort of an afterthought, but here they were sooo good. We came here seeking good Mexican eats, and we saw how good the reviews were. There was no wait for a table, and our waiter was very friendly. To order, you have to scan the qr code on the table and pay from your phone. This is okay, but does raise questions about those who dont have smartphones. Also, you pay before you submit your order, which includes tipping, so you cant really tip based on service unless you brought cash. Finally, you have to provide your phone number and email address when checking out, which made my husband uncomfortable. We were told there was no other way to pay. Again, what if you dont have an email address? Anyway, the food was all handmade and high quality. We ordered the chicken and beef enchiladas with rice and beans. They were very simple, but the flavor and quality were great, and those rice and beans were awesome. I was somewhat disappointed that the dish didnt come with any sort of salad or garnish. When ordering, I had the option to add extra lettuce, guacamole, etc, which led me to believe that the dish already came with some, but it did not. Ultimately, the food is great, but the interface was inconvenient and misleading.

Easily the best quesadilla I have had in this 15 mile radius of Austin...I will eventually try more things at this restaurant I have to apologize but its difficult to get past the quesadilla azteca because they are so very impressive in my book regardless of what meat you order...I have now been here another 6 times and still loving it...Luckily I havent started to order this food to be delivered to my house ...What a surprise I just ate here for like the 10th time and just cant get enough of the Quesadilla Azteca!!!!

The best Mexican food I ve ever had - and I don t say that lightly. I wish I had taken photos - it was unlike the Tex mex I m so used to the flavors were unique and everything is so fresh!! I think, under the right conditions, this place could easily increase the prices by 20-30% if they: * Used printed paper / plastic menus (their online menu was a labyrinth, imho, and I m a techie) * Upgraded the decor inside the restaurant - it s probably below average for a $$ Tex mex joint. I felt like a family member ordering from Mr. Alfred - but I want to see these people thrive! Their food is so good. I think they could easily rebrand as a high end authentic $$$+ Mexican experience and charge a lot more! Right now, they re letting their food do their talking - it s the best so they can - and they do a good enough job at the front of the house that it s definitely not bad at all - it s expected. But if they upgraded their front of the house .they d be literally unstoppable! If their front of house got worse though, I d still rate them 5 stars and eat this better than anywhere else Mexican food!

The owner, Mr. Alfredo. He was definitely passionate about his product. He was also a pleasure to speak with as he waited on us. I would consider this to be a restaurant that specializes in salsas. Alfredo makes an assortment of salsas by hand, and they all have their own kick. The truth is. I didnt care for my pastor tacos. That however, didnt bother me as everything else was extremely tasty. The ceviche was amazing. My cousin also liked his exotic torta.. Another interesting fact is Mr.Alfredos sense of humor. Dont be offended by the menu. He chose to name the tacos according to their taste. Using Spanish profanity he distinguish the level of heat on his tacos. This is somewhat confusing. Basically, a mild taco is dubbed a mild cuss word. A hot taco is dubbed a harder cuss word, and so on. My cousin & i found this amusing. He even ordered the most offensive taco. Which is dubbed a multi-syllable cuss word. My mother would throw her chancla at me if I repeated the name of that spicy taco. I could easily tell that Mr. Alfredo loves what he does. This is evident with the taste of his food. Oh, that taco that my cousin ordered. It was flaming hot. I would definitely visit this place again. Enjoy! Parking: Plenty of free parking.

Had a really great time here! The service was good and extremely friendly. We were given lots of recommendations. They seemed very passionate about their dishes and it showed. Everything we ordered tasted great. I got the El Cabron, and despite only being one taco, it was very filling and delicious! My partner got the Quezadilla Azteca which was huge and delicious. I recommend getting the spicy sour cream on it. The chips were excellent, and we had it with some salsa and some queso. Overall recommend. Very friendly, with great food. Parking: Its strip mall parking, so pretty limited, but it doesnt seem to be a busy area.

If only I could have given more than 5 stars! I almost forgot to take a picture, because I couldnt stop eating. This picture was taken after Id finished half of my meal. Chicken in a spicy verde sauce with rice and beans. A large portion. All three of our family tonight, enjoyed really wonderful, authentic Mexican meals! We purposely chose ones that were unique. We wanted something other than TexMex & they did not disappoint! The sauce was a fantastic chili verde flavor. Spicy but not too hot. The service was great too! We had a couple of questions answered and he was around often just to check in. We will be back!

This place is fantastic! We were not sure what to think when we arrived. The place was empty, no diners and no one to greet us, but only for a minute, and we were there just before noon. We were asked to scan a QR code and order online because they were short staffed, so I wasnt expecting much in terms of service. I was wrong. The service was impeccable. By the time we left more people had arrived but the waiter was very attentive and didnt miss a beat. As far as I could tell there were two people working total. One waiter and one cook. The chips were fresh and appeared to be made in house, which is a rare find these days. The cook brought us some samples of the agua frescas that they make themselves, and they were all wonderful. We ordered the red enchiladas and the cook came out to be sure we understood they would be very spicy. The waiter was right behind him with a sample of the sauce. It was at my upper limits, but we decided to go forward. Both the beef and chicken enchiladas were flavorful and the cheese was melted until just crispy along the edge of the plate. We tried the black and refried pinto beans. Both were good, but I felt the black beans were a tad too salty for my taste and preferred the pinto beans. The rice does have a lot of cumin so if you arent a fan of cumin you should skip it. Before I left our waiter told us their family was originally from south of Mexico City and they used his mothers recipes. He recommended some other menu items we should try if we return. We dont live in the area, so Im not sure we will make it back anytime soon, but we will definitely come again if we are nearby. I think what stood out the most was that they were truly interested in making sure we had a great experience and would enjoy their food. This is a family who really seems to put a lot of love into what they do!

Very tasty; give them a try! Very friendly staff and delicious food. Id say it is more authentic and less Tex-Mex. We ordered the queso to munch on before our meal came, it is very good mixed with their complementary green sauce. Next we had beef quesadillas. They were quite large and enough for two people to share if wanting smaller portions. (I took the picture after I split the portions into two plates.) The quesadillas were more like tacos, see picture. We got the beef with their spicy homemade sourcream. If you havent tried them, you definitely should! Just be prepared that you have to order and pay online using their QR code after sitting down at table.

If you eat here take it to go, don t dine in. The menu is online and you have order and pay online. The system is not super user friendly. I accidentally clicked one wrong place and it backed out my entire order. After finally submitting the order the chef/owner came back and asked us our drinks. My husband said tea and the employee walked off without even asking me and then brought us both tea, which is not what I ordered. Then after bringing us our food he said he would be back with the coffee I had actually ordered. I said no it s ok never mind about the coffee. At this point we are already eating. He says no they ve already put a pot in and will bring the coffee anyway. Then as we are leaving they came back and demanded payment from me specifically (even though my husband had paid for everything else) for the extra tea that was brought incorrectly to our table even though I had cancelled the coffee. I said it s fine I ll pay but I ll never be back and paid an extra 5.42$ for a drink I didn t order. The food was great but it s a shame they are too cheap to hire wait staff or have menus, and force customers to pay when they mess up the order. If you go here just take it to go.
