We live in Pearland, right down the street from the Curry Spot but whenever were craving Trini food (Im Trini born), we drive an hour to Katy to get J&D because theyre better. Last night we decided to give the Curry Spot another try and was reminded why we drive to J&D. The curry chicken was HARD and chewy, under seasoned and lacking in flavor. The curry shrimp was small and mushy with no bite of freshness. The roti servings were small as well, not to mention the channa portions in the doubles are very little. EVERY single time weve gone there, even if we call in our order well ahead of time, we always still have to wait at least 20 minutes or more for them package our food when we get there. Their only saving grace was the beef patty which was nice and hot. We wont make the mistake of coming back.

The first time we ordered from here, the food was great! The second time we ordered, which was today, almost our entire meal was terrible. We ordered the brown stew chicken & curry chicken entrees. The rice in the rice & peas tasted like minute rice & had no seasoning what so ever. Both the curry & brown stew chicken barely had any sauce. Both plates came with wilted salad & this yellow sauce on the side (may have been a salad dressing) & it smelled so foul! My plantains were mushy & had a bit of the yellow sauce on it too. Our beef patties were okay though. Overall I m giving it a 2 because the customer service was great & our order was ready in the time frame they said it was. We won t be back any time soon. I m very sad because our first time coming was amazing! For the price we paid, it was very underwhelming.

Purchased food from this place and when we arrived home [9 miles later] we opened our order to discover the food had a sour smell. We threw out the roti but my brother took a chance and ate his doubles. This resulted in him having diarrhea. Go elsewhere or check your food before leaving. Very disappointing experience

D Caribbean - taste of Trinidad !! We indulged in the flavorful Oxtails with rice and beans, a combo of oxtail and jerk chicken, two kids meals and even took a beef patty to go. The generous portions and authentic Trinidadian flavors made this our new go-to spot for Caribbean food!! We were looking for taste from NY/ NJ and this spot satisfied our craving.

The goat had no flavor , the regular double had very little flavor, the spicy only had flavor because it was spicy . The customer service was good they were friendly but the food was disappointing.

If I could give zero stars i would. I ordered the large oxtail and large shrimp curry along with roti and sorrel. I spent $61. This food was utterly disgusting. There wasn t a lick of flavor, the shrimp was overly cooked (dry, dry, dry), the rice and peas were very mushy, the oxtail lacked flavor of any sorts, the plantains were (flavor cannot even be described but nasty) and the sorrel was just ok. I contacted the business to inform them of this and ended up in a back and forth banter over most people not knowing how Caribbean food should tasted (LOL). I requested a refund and even offered to bring back both full plates to show exactly how inedible everything was. I was informed that they do not do refunds and I would need to speak to the Big Boss on Monday. I will never, ever, ever visit this place again or recommend it to ANYONE. I m a sucker for good customer service and even tho the food was disgusting, if the rep would have handled my call a lot better, I would have been a little at ease. Instead I was met with a back and forth argument on Caribbean food. I won t be back. Waste ya money here if you want to.

I was greated by Ali who also lived in Brooklyn. I ordered the goat roti and 2 doubles and my lord, delicious tasty with a hint of spicy . The roti was quite large and full, as a trini.....flavaz yes. Great food, and conversation. Well be back.

I really wanted to like this place I was in the area and stopped by because of the great reviews. I ordered the curry shrimp w/ curry chickpeas for myself and the curry goat for my daughter. My daughter who usually enjoys curry goat expressed that the meat was dry :( The curry shrimp was nasty - the shrimp tasted over cooked and the sauce tasted as if it was an afterthought - not cooked with the shrimp. The plantains were inedible and an odd reddish color (almost resembled a piece of meat) and were extremely tough and dry. Sadly we trashed the food shortly after trying everything. I spent close to $50 for food w/ tip. I came around 1PM and since they open at 11AM - I was hoping the food would taste fresh. I can t comment on the cabbage since it wasn t ready when I placed my order. The place had an odd smell (not like a kitchen) The upside is the man and woman taking the orders were friendly. Wouldn t go back.

Such a lovely couple running the restaurant. Really welcoming. The restaurant was only using half the space, be great when it gets back to using full space.. gave us a first time visit welcome doubles. Very nice. We ordered some doubles to take for later and some roti for lunch. The two boneless chicken roti were a little on the dry side. The beef was very tasty and the chicken with the bone in was very good and that coming from a Trini is good to share! Look forward to going again and trying some other options. Parking: Plenty of parking for free.

My son and I buy the roti skins and coco bread quite often, excellent. We have tried to purchase other items from here but its always a disappointment. The rice and whatever pasta type of little noodles they add to the rice and beans was dried out/crunchy. Like it had set all day and been scraped from the sides or bottom of the pot. The chicken and beef patties were dried up. The cabbage over cooked and the jerk chicken is not jerked at all. I do not normally leave reviews of this nature but I have wasted my hard earned money with these people several times in honest hopes that it would get better. I am of Jamaican and Belizean blood. I know Caribbean food quite well. Its sad to say that this restaurant is not missing the mark alone. I just want good food. Im willing to wait on freshly cooked patties and rice but not burned plantains Ive had to return once to them. You guys see the product you are selling. Would you be satisfied. Just a little food for thought.

The curry boneless chicken wasn t as tasty as the potatoes which were the best. Oxtails no flavor to me at all. I regret I purchased food here. This food is bland as hell!!! Customer service is very poor. The guy in there too busy making jokes instead of tending to customers. Anywho it s bland as hell and WHY IS THERE LETTUCE INSTEAD OF CABBAGE?! No Jamaican cooked this bland slop! Zero taste. Even the plantains look disgusting. I will never step foot in here again. I ll drive all the way to Post Oak to get authentic Jamaican food. Go to Helen s Kitchen and thank me later. I asssume the middle eastern people in there must have bought them out cause that s exactly what it taste like. I can make this better at home

I have been trying to go to D Caribbean for the longest. When I first came across this place, my wife and I were in the same shopping center and I just happened to notice the place. With my family being from Jamaica, I just had to stop in and try some of this Caribbean food. Unfortunately, this was the one day of the week that they are closed during the week, Monday. I would have to wait until another day. The opportunity finally presented itself, my birthday. I rarely eat out and D Caribbean would be the place that I would pickup some food for my birthday. It was long overdue and right on time since I was making a permanent conversion to vegetarian the following Monday. I was torn between the curry chicken and the jerk chicken. Chicken was the only meat I was eating at the time since I gave up beef and pork in the 90s and seafood last year. I went with the large curried chicken (bone-in) with rice & beans. The curried chicken comes with the choice of bone-in or boneless and served with rice and beans or white rice or veggie fried rice with salad and plantains included. I also ordered a veggie patty, ginger beer, and currant roll. When I arrived to pickup my order, I had a pleasant conversation with the owners. We spoke as if weve known each other for years. Good Vibes all around. I am glad that I chose my birthday to finally make my way to D Caribbean. After we finished our conversation, I headed home to indulge myself in my long awaited meal. It was well worth the wait. Everything was well prepared and cooked to perfection. Im at a loss for words because I cannot describe the food any better. The chicken was tender, the rice & beans were cooked just right, and the plantains were oh my goodness. The veggie patty was very good, but I would love to see like a double stuffed veggie patty since Ive converted to vegetarian. Just throwing a little hint. This was my first time having a currant roll and I really enjoyed it. Ofcourse, no meal is complete without a ginger beer to wash it down. I want to thank D Caribbean for the fantastic meal. Although Im a vegetarian now, Ill still be stopping by to pickup some vegetarian dishes. This is definitely the spot for great Carribean food.

It is not Jamaican Authentic Food at all. Cabbage was old looking and taste old. Plantains were dry and horrible tasting due to being microwaved and not made fresh. The boneless curry chicken was dry even with the curry sauce all over it. Rice and beans was JUST okay. The Coco bread tasted store bought. So far the only thing I m okay with is the chicken patty and it was not that tasty at all.

Oxtails tasted like water at best, the rice was bland, beans undercooked, and the plantains were hard. I was even more disappointed in the cost of the food. Extremely overpriced for the amount of food you get. I 1000% recommend Helens Kitchen over this restaurant.

One of my best friend, who lives minutes away ordered from Ds Caribbean. It was my first experience in her home where I sampled their delicious doubles. The owner, operator and his wife were most gracious. The intention and authenticity, you experience in the food is by far an amazing treat. Honestly, its one of the best Caribbean restaurants that I have patronized since moving to Houston Texas in 2006. Certainly you will be inspired to return for more

I love talking with the owner Moh, my fellow Trini. I live in San Antonio, but I will drive 2 hours to his spot just to get away for some real Trini food. If didnt feel like driving, I would place my order on the phone, he boxes up and I have it shipped to me via Fedx next day delivery. The food is the best and worth it.

If you love Caribbean do d this is a good choice. Do remember their are many islands making up the Caribbean islands. All of the indigenous people have a common thread, but different backgrounds, African, French, Dutch, Asian and Spanish all influence the flavors depending where you go. Therefore if this doesnt taste like what you think it should or like food you had on an island vacation dont knock it as not being authentic. I am not a fan of island cooking but enjoyed the oxtails. The jerk chicken was too spicy for me but may be great for someone else. A small ma and pop set up with friendly owners that will let you sample if you have never had an item before. Island music plays in the background. My favorite thing was the champagne punch soda. A mixture of what Tahitian Treat pop (Im from Michigan we say pop not soda) used to be and a Shirley Temple. Overall very enjoyable experience.
