My issue is not necessarily with the staff. I hadnt been to this location in a while. Boy has it changed. The cliental that go there now are less than desirable. Immediately after walking inside the store I had a woman start hollering at me about why I was staring at her. Trust me, I was not looking at her. Needless to say I will be going to other locations where people arent looking for fights.

The store staff is very polite and helpful beyond belief. This 2 star is for the CREDIT CARD! DONT GET A CREDIT CARD WITH ACADEMY! If you do, make sure they are NOT using the COMENITY CAPITAL BANK! They will scam you! I applied for the card and got a measly discount on my store products. Then forgot about the card. Time passed and I remembered it and thought may someone stole the card from my mailbox. The next day I got my first statement that had a late fee on it. I immediately called customer service. They explained the card had never been sent out. Maybe the statement had never been sent out either. I got transferred where I had to reiterate my problem. Finally I was transferred again and out on an endless hold where after 1 hour and 15 minutes, the call disconnected. Meanwhile, I used my landline to call the credit bureaus for help. Lastly, I drove to store where the manager listened and I was able to call corporate. One of the first options on that call was to deal with credit card problems. Ha! This must be a very commen problem they have. They only way I could get the late fee removed was to not cancel the card. Obviously, I will not be using this card again. The store discount wasnt worth the frustration. BTW...COMENITY CAPITAL BANK HAS A 1 STAR. Look them up here.

We had a great experience at the North Richland Hills location. All the employees were helpful from the moment we walked in. We were returning an online order and purchasing binoculars. Belinda and Tyler were especially helpful with our return and purchase. I did not get the mans name who helped us choose the right binoculars, but he was so helpful and patient.

We live closest to the south Arlington location. It is LITERALLY ALWAYS A DISASTER. Long lines, rude people, out of stocks. It was such a pleasant surprise to visit this store- got what we needed and people were very friendly. Much appreciated

If I could rate lower, I would. I went to this Academy to pick up a gun I purchased online. There was a heavy set woman at the counter who was extremely rude. No greeting what so ever, and she was provoking an argument. Im sure she was upset because she couldnt go stuff her face on lunch because I heard her speaking with a co worker (while Im standing waiting to me served) about lunch break. I provided her with my ID and she started questioning my address and DL number. Then kept questioning if I lived at that address by asking me to say the address/DL out loud while she held the card. My little brother was also with me and he asked a question about a gun. She asked is this gun for you? If not, then why are you speaking. This made my blood boil but since Im in a good place in life. Theres no need to argue with this person. I figured a review would suffice. I purchased this gun online to try making this transaction as quick as possible and just delayed the process even more. Ill not longer waste my time at any other Academy sports and outdoors. I asked her to just cancel the $1300 order so I could go elsewhere. Great customer service Academy, you lost a long time customer.

This plaice has horrible customer service I came upon a sale on a kayak with a price listed for 799$ and then when it got time to check out they were telling me it is 1300$ after tax called management and cooperate and proceeded to tell me that there never was a sale on the kayak and it was never listed for that price that the one that was listed for that was a completely different price even tho it has the picture and the price on it see photo for proof of evidence I will be going to small claims for false advertisement

I really enjoy Academy sports and outdoors. I love the corporate dedication to an outlet. Focused on physical fitness and activity. I feel that sometimes the customer service is slack and lacks product knowledge and confidence in promoting sales. I feel as though employees are reluctant and that thats a reflectional management and leadership. I will give this place a 4, if I felt like the employees were continually being trained on customer service skills and updating their product knowledge. I feel like education is a lack and that this is reflection on company leadership. NOTE: I could also give this review a 4 if the location wasnt so obscure and tricky to get to. Without GPS & GOOGLE MAPS, it might not even be impossible to park :/

The reason I gave this a 2 star. I went to two stores looking for coveralls, without success, but the employees at the first store were great. It is the second store that got the two stars they were not only unwelcoming, I decided to look around to see what else I could buy, and they were watching me, mind you, I just got off work and Im a manager. Maybe they didnt see my uniform, but regardless, I just arrived there was no reason for them to do that. Then, I asked the lady that kept going everywhere I went acting like she was doing stuff around me. I know what they were doing we do the same thing at my store, but, only if someone is acting suspect. I wasnt acting suspicious at all!! Anyways, I found shoes I liked but didnt have socks on with my shoes so I turned and asked the lady if they had socks I could borrow and she looked at me like I was crazy and rolled her eyes as she asked LP in a condescending voice, because she thought I didnt know what I was talking about, and she evidently hasnt worked there very long. She had no clue that they were on every shelf above the shoes. Even after finding out she still treated me like I was beneath her or something at least that was my perception about this whole situation. I could have perceived things wrong, but you feel the vibe, besides the fact, her body language and facial expressions said it all. I apologize if that wasnt the situation, maybe she was just having a bad day, but she shouldnt let it show in front of her customers. I just felt very unwelcomed especially knowing they were watching me like I was a criminal. LP was walking around also. I understand you have to do your job, because you never know about people, that doesnt mean you should treat people rudely. It wasnt them watching me, but it was their attitudes toward me. Like the looks, the rolling eyes, and the condescending attitude. Thank you for letting me share and for your time reading this post. On a good note I bought some really cool sketchers that were on sale and Academy had always had good quality name brand items to choose from.

my boyfriend and I went to get him some work boots before he went out of town for work. our cashier was extremely flirty and talkative with him and complete disregarded me. i was trying to engage with her the entire time and she was so rude and short with me, and she was only interested in starting conversations with my boyfriend. eventually she told him to try on the boots before she ringed them up to see if they fit him nicely after he stood up straight after sliding the boot on his foot, this cashier looks at her coworker and goes i think i need new jeans , turns around and pops her butt out and points at it, and goes look at the pockets right in front of my boyfriend and then looks at him to see if hes looking too. and then she asks my boyfriend do you like how the boots fit? and i answered for him (bc she obviously did not want to speak to me) and said yes and she just looked at him and got overly excited for him and kept telling him how happy she was for him about his boots fitting. i let it slide because obviously i understood she wanted his attention. well, after we checked out, he grabbed the boots and she only spoke to him and told him (and him only) to have a good day. made us feel really uncomfortable and she was incredibly inappropriate.

Came in looking for a specific jacket that showed to be in stock on the website in multiple colors. I get there, the section is a complete disaster (understandable to an extent considering everyone is panic shopping for the weather) It takes me two laps around the store to find an associate, I ask a young man in the shoes for help, he points me to a lady right next to him saying she s the one working that section and if I could ask her. Clearly upset we re interpreting her conversation, Tara tries to give me a blow off answer and points me to the section that I already came from. I insisted for more help than that, and she sighs and says okay let me go work Bill, it was nice seeing you . She then quickly pretends to look around as Bill hangs out around the corner clearly waiting to finish hanging out with Tara. Tara calls someone over the walkie talkie for help, and the girl explains she just finished helping someone else look for the same jackets and that they re all sold out. Tara said yeah I was off yesterday and this place is a mess, so I don t know where anything is the girl walks off, and Bill walks up and they continue hehe-ing and haha-ing, as I m still there looking for an alternative. I keep looking at her and she says to Bill oh let me look like I m working and picks up a shirt to fold. Taking a minute or two to catch up with a friend/boyfriend is one thing, but to disregard the fact that you re at work and paying customers need help, and you clearly see your section is in shambles, but still decide to just hang out on the clock is beyond me. Management needs to be more involved. I did explain all of this to the lady working the customer service desk, short grey bob style hair cut.

Other than the person at the door, told me to get in ANY checkout lane, and they could help me but after 10 minutes and getting to cashier she informed me the Order Pickup was the line just in front of the cashiers, which I got in and waited 10 more minutes but in all considering I was in and out in less than 30 minutes the day after Christmas Im HAPPY, the way I look at it if you dont have an hour to kill DONT go in a store this time of year!!!

If I could give less than 1 star I would. My experience with this Academy was terrible. I wanted to call up there but felt like it would be better to write a review for everyone to see. I understand the need to keep theft from happening but I m not sure what triggered them to believe I was a thief. I am a woman of color and I don t always dress up to run into a freakin store. I work hard for my money and when I want something, I pay for it. I ve been followed around in stores plenty of times based solely on my appearance but this time was the worst. It actually brought me to tears when I finally got what I needed and got into my car. It s very frustrating to feel like I m unable to go out and SPEND the money THAT I EARNED because I worry that I am going to made to feel like a criminal. Like I said, it s happened to me before and usually I can brush it off but they were so blatantly obvious about it that it stuck with me. I doubt I ll be back to this location but please do better. No one should ever be made to feel like I did.

They need to have a better process of people who make mistakes and place orders for shipping by mistake. Placed an order at 8:12 pm and was at the store at 8:27 to pick up and I had made it for shipping by mistake. No way to just pick them up since I was there, they had to refund my money which could take 3-5 business days. It shouldn t be that hard to switch from shipping to pick up with an order that was placed less than 30 minutes prior. The damn thing wasn t even in the system for them to pull it yet. How frustrating!

Items available online are not true to what is available in the store. If any same item but different size is in stock at the store, all sizes show in stock. Thanks for wasting my time.
