Best water park in the world. Best in thick of summer when fully staffed. Went over Labor Day, and a couple of rides closed due to many college students/life guards were back at school. Highly recommend Fast Lane pass as wait times can exceed 90 minutes.

This is an outdoor facility that is large enough to be enjoyed all day long by people of all ages and genders. Its crowded no matter what time I go. I brought drinks and light snacks from home so I wouldnt forget to stay hydrated. As stated in the warnings inside the facility, even adults can get injured in the lazy river. It seems like there have been some tragic accidents in the past, so the facility seems to be taking some precautions, but they get cold feet when small children ride the same waves. I think its a fun facility as long as you are careful about safety.

I grew up going to Schlitterbaun. Now as an adult, I see why my parents hated going. 2-3 hour wait times for rides, half the rides closed, food is inedible and expensive, staff are rude and probably underpaid, parking is impossible. Now they re enforcing life jackets in the lazy rivers and not putting nearly enough tubes in for everyone. Don t waste your money or your time.

There was a 2 hour line for most of the rides. That means if youre there for 6 hours you can go down three slides, given that youre willing to stand in the sun for several hours and wait... If that were the only thing maybe I would give it two stars, but in addition to this the food was crappy. I had the worst hamburger of my life from the hamburger stand: the bread was old and stale, the meat was cold and there was literally nothing on the burger except meat and cheese. My daughter wanted a pretzel so I walked up to the pretzel stand. The server saw me waiting there but then walked away and didnt return, apparently the stand had closed. The hot dog stand couldnt serve any hot dogs because she didnt have tongs to be able to serve them. Literally one of the worst experiences of my life - I wish we hadnt gone there.

We arrived at 12:30 and left when they closed at 7. We were only able to ride 3 rides the entire time we were there. Paid $270 and it was a waste. Wish we would have just saved our money. Fast passes were also sold out. They need to limit how many visitors can attend so their customers can actually get their monies worth. Such a Rip off. We waited in line for 2.5 hours to ride one of the tube shoots only to keep getting stuck and when you werent stuck you literally drug the concrete which resulted in an injury to my elbow. We will not be going back and do not recommend anyone else going. My kids were so very disappointed as well.

I am not one to normally write reviews, but I feel this needs to be put out there so customers can have the expectation when visiting the park. Growing up in Texas our family always heard about how great Schlitterbahn was. We moved out of state and planned a trip to visit with family and planned a trip to the park. Our family was highly disappointed in this visit. The portal would not allow online payments which took extra time for us to get into the park. The staff could not honor the online rates because they didn t have the buttons to do it, did a work around which cost us 10 dollars more. Once in the park and after finding a spot for our stuff, we began to look for a ride. Park opened at 11 we started looking for a ride around 11:30. After walking by 3 closed rides, we finally got in line. After about 40 minutes of being in line. I left with our youngest to go play in a pool in the kids section to help cool her off. The rest of the family finally finish the ride and returned to our spot about 3 PM. 3.5 hours to ride a ride for 2 minutes. Hearing from a few other people that the other park(East) had more options we decided to switch parks. The tram to switch parks took about 1.5 hours We went to go get our souvenir cups to a few different locations find out no one had any Got food that seemed to be sitting under a food lamp for a long time since our hamburger buns were like rocks and making it inedible. The rest of the family decided to try a slide again. After waiting for another hour they had not returned, with the frustration of spending almost 700 on the trip, we went to get a refund. The representative tried to help as much as possible, but no refund for the tickets would be allowed after a few calls around. After those few calls and after talking to a few managers, we recieved a refund for half the amount. Went to see if the family had returned and they had not. They finally finished the second ride around 6:15. So we ended our trip waiting in line to take a tram back to the other park. 377 for two rides with half the rides closed, food we could not eat, and drinks we could not get made this trip the worst family vacation we have ever had and a huge disappointment for our children.

The wait was way long. We were there for more than 6 hours. And just had 4 rides don t buy the meals if you could bring your own in a cooler. Food is very substandard. We had the burger, chicken sandwich, funnel cake, and brisket sandwich. The service is also substandard. It s not like it s cheap to be there. We had better time in East than the west park. The heated pool didn t feel like heated. The ground set up was efficient with the heat, kept the place cool underneath the master splasher base. Maybe there s just too many people. Long wait for the shuttle and had the driver switch en route which didn t look professional. Disappointed. Drove all the way to NB and spent more so we could enjoy. We did make the most of it but won t spend the day here again if I have other choices.

We visited Schlitterbahn this past weekend. Schlitterbahn Water Park in New Braunfels offers The hottest coolest time in Texas, but it really should be called The hottest most overcrowded time in Texas ! So let s start with the good. It is a fun, family-friendly waterpark experience with a variety of water rides and attractions. One of its standout features is the allowance of outside food and coolers, which is a great convenience for families. It also has free parking. However, the park can get quite overcrowded, particularly on weekends and during peak seasons, which might impact your enjoyment. Overall, its a lively spot with a lot to offer, but be prepared for the crowds and the long lines to ride a water coaster can be a wait of 2 hours. The pool and the lazy rivers were so packed it made it difficult to enjoy. I m giving the park 3 stars for the overcrowding. Schlitterbahn really should control the number of people allowed in the park. At the end of the day, the children in our group left the park with smiles on their faces. They didn t notice the overcrowded lazy river and rides. They said they had a lot of fun.

I wish I had a better experience at this park but I didnt. We decided on Schlitterbahn New Braunfels because weve been to the one in Galveston plenty of time and we learned this one was twice as big. The problems: The cabana came with reserved parking, we arrived at 2pm and it was packed. We were told let the guy who was directing traffic know we have reserved parking. I had to show the guy my purchase which was expected but I was then told to drive around the lot and look for a parking spot with a cone, come to service desk then retrieve a sticker then go place it on my car. That was a bit of an extreme process. Why the guy couldnt just give me a sticker right then and there. Well I didnt even get a chance to do the full process because lot was full. The guy at the service desk ask me did I drive around the whole lot and check? I told him yes even on the sides. Well I guess he didnt believe because he then said we have to go look again. This time Im now on foot following him through a lot that I already knew was full. We passed a golf cart which Im thinking why didnt we just take that vs us walk this whole lot. Finally he tells me to just park in employees lot on the side, and he will take the heat from his boss or whomever if something was to happen. I asked can we park in the spot closest to the park, I have lots of things to carry inside (only myself and 3 girls with me because the boys were busy trying to find parking on the other side of the park) but I was told no its best to park in the last spot because I wasnt supposed to be in the employees parking anyway. He told me I could park in front of the entrance and to unload. We decide we wasted enough time on the parking issue, so we will just try to bring everything in best as we could. As were unpacking the truck, now we are faced with every employee passing, stopping and telling us we cant park there. One of the guys being really pushy and not really wanting to hear what we had to say. I had to beg him to listen and reason with what I was trying to tell him. Finally he radios the first desk and they confirmed. This indeed gave me a light headache. We made it to first desk because now we had to show them our park tickets. They scanned the tickets then I asked how do we get to the surfenberg cabana. The walk was unreal but we may it taking a few rest breaks along the way. Shortly after arriving at the cabana, we were approached by a woman saying she think were in her cabana. I assured her we were in the right one and showed her my last name on the cabana. As she was walking away Im realizing this couple had help with their bags from the staff but we were offered any help and they sat there and watched a woman and three girls struggled. Wow. I then called the number because we needed help getting situated but the guy didnt show up until an hour lately after I had already figured out everything myself. Once he arrived he didnt introduce himself or anything. He didnt tell us how to use the safe or any of the discounted items (souvenirs and merchandise) that were available to purchase. Us girls sat and started eating until the boys arrived. They did finally arrive 30mins after we were done eating because it took them that long to find a parking space and the tram (bus) line was so long they had to catch the third one. The lines are super long and the wait for each ride is fourty-five mins to an hour long. Which we were able to ride a total of 4 rides before it was closing time. They felt like this was the worst birthday they ever had and I would have to agree. The park itself is beautiful. The rides we did get to experience was awesome but the staff is not the best at all. I feel like the staff robbed us out of our experience.

I suggest you experience the natural beauty of New Braunfels by exploring the rivers instead of visiting Schlitterbahn. Youll spend more time waiting in lines than you will enjoying the water. Instead, immerse yourself in the environment, meet the locals, and discover the hidden gems that New Braunfels has to offer. Remember its less cost to float the natural river than spending it on Schlitterbahn.

I wasted money on the season pass but I urge everyone else to try other places within Texas before trying Schlitterbahn, especially with kids. The only thing I looked forward to was leaving to attend to Buccees. The food is a complete joke unless you pay $30 for a single Turkey Leg, cheaper foods are almost inedible, powerade even in the bottles taste gross, and the water stinks season-round. We went on a Saturday, & had purchased fast pass tickets. We arrived early, but it made little difference, the park was packed and the fast pass made little to no difference either! We queued for over an hour with the pass, we didn t get to do all of the flumes included( that were open I might add) Some flumes were shut! The park is split between two sites, and buses are used to move between sites of course the queues were sooo long, with little management. The park looks tired, out of the water parks I ve done in the US this is by far the worst, in fact a total rip off.

If you enjoy spending $70 to spend the day in crowded dirty pools, waiting in line for hours in sweltering heat to go on a single water slide, spending $16+ for a margarita, and waiting in line for a shuttle to take you to a different side of the park just to be told the lazy river is closed, then this is the place for you! This place is so overhyped, overpriced, and overcrowded. The wait time for the water slides is ridiculous. Even on an off weekend towards the end of summer when kids are back in school the average wait time for a ride was an hour or more. It doesn t help that if it s 100° and you re forced to wait in a line that s only half shaded. You re much better off spending your time and money floating the Comal river or just going to a public pool. The only plus side is that they allow you to bring in your own cooler with food and drinks (non alcoholic); something that isn t all too common at amusement parks. But overall, not worth the time and money.

They over sold the parking lot and had to find us a place to park. The wait for the shuttle bus was crazy long, but that is to be expected I guess. We also paid for a cabana which was very nice except for all the wasp nests full of wasps. My wife is super allergic to wasps, and I asked for them to be sprayed. The attendant said it could be done but it would take a while and we would have to remove everyone and cover everything in the cabana. I feel like they would take care of the wasp around the cabanas while the park was closed.

I have been coming to this water park we every single year since I was a kid... for over 40 years now. It is one of my greatest childhood memories and also that of my children. It was a friendly, fun, relaxing, family oriented water park that stood out amongst all others. We loved the main park most for its unique rides that featured river water with a few of them ending in the river. Ever since the park was bought out things have adversely changed. Entering the newly added gates, feels more like going through airport security with the metal detectors and security searches. The park can get crowded and lines can get long which can be expected. We used to enjoy ourselves in the cold lagoon while waiting for lines to go down. Unfortunately, the Hillside is no longer river water and neither is the lagoon... So its like floating in a hot tub on 100° day. Our visit this August was by far the worst experience weve ever had this far, which has helped us make the decision to no longer spend our money purchasing season passes as we will no longer be visiting regularly. he lines we stood in were actually shorter than normal but yet the lines took double the time to enter the ride. It appears they allow unlimited fast passes and they merge them in to the front of the line. No longer did they have to schedule their fast pass time slot, so they were able to ride as many times as they wanted. Many of them went 3-4 times while we stood in line for more than 2.5 hours. The park hours used to be 10-8pm even on week days.... They have been shortened by 3 hours with only 7 hours to ride the rides. With such long lines, we were only able to ride 3 rides the whole day without breaking to eat lunch. They were short-staffed, they had ride exits to the river closed off (this seems to be the norm now), Many of the rides were closed, even those like the Cliffhanger that specifically said on the website that it would be open. There were plenty of staff for the shop and all of the restaurants. With the lines being so long at the main park, we decided we would shuttle over to the other park and float in the Torrent River. Upon arriving having to stand in line to get in (that was new a couple right after the new company took over), we discovered that we were now required to wear life jackets to get in. Thats was the final straw! Do you know how ridiculous that looked! Thats like being a life long skater and being required to wear a helmet and body pads that you dont want to wear at the skating rink! Many people took off their life jackets in the Torrent River (I dont blame them), therefore there were hundreds of life jackets floating around, getting stuck on peoples legs, arms, feet, etc causing an actual hazard! We were also told by some of the staff that have worked there for multiple years, that their pay was reduced this year. Thats probably why most of the employees unfriendly, unhelpful and RUDE! Save your hard earned money, I wouldnt waste on this water park. Its only about to get worse as Cedar Fair just finalized their merger with Six Flags!

I was really sad to see what Schlitterbahn has become after all these years of family participation. This park was a joy to come to when I was a child. But, like many things, the environment has changed. Don t get me wrong - contrary to many reviews, the staff was kind. They did their best to explain why things were different or diminished. And, quite frankly, I gathered that this establishment has been acquired by the same corporation as Six Flags (maybe that s the cause of quality degradation). Workers that used to be paid $13 an hour are now paid $11/hour. The standards that used to exist no longer do. The shade partitions only cover you for so long before you re left in the sweltering heat of Texas summer. And then you are asked to splash your fellow patrons as you transcend down the ride they have also waited an hour and a half for. This doesn t even include fast pass times. At the end of the day - it s a business. But it s a poorly run one at that. Feeding off the reputation of a place that no longer exists. Go to the river. Grab a sprinkler or a tarp and some soap. Because, at the end of the day, you will get a more quality experience out of those homemade experiences than this water park. I m sorry to say that.

This was my second time going but because it was late in the season they only had the smaller park open. I really didnt feel like it was worth it for the price as the best rides were at the closed park. You cant park at the open Waterpark so you have to park at the closed one and take a bus ride over to the open park. That Created a line that was down the street waiting to get on the bus. We ended up waiting for nearly three hours for one ride, all the time thinking it would speed up soon. I would say that we had a lot more fun and rode a lot more rides at Aquatica and Sea World.

I arrived at the park on 8/12/24. The website advertise bonus days. I thought it meant that you got to ride extra rides. What it actually meant was half the park was closed and these rides were open. Awesome marketing. But what a scam. First time To come. And half the park was closed. There were thousands of people that thought the same way I did. So they ended up cramming everyone into half of the park. There were two hours waits on the rides. This was the last hurrah for my daughter before school started. I rented a treehouse loft overlooking the lazy river, which was drained so I got to look at nothing. Not sure if I will ever come back I would rather go to Kalahari. I hope management sees this and looks up my account and tries to compensate me to convince me to return I do not do many reviews. But I want to caution people before they spend time and money here.

Consistent with all the other posts, if you don t pay an insane amount for fast passes you will just be standing in line forever at whatever rides happen to be open that day. Did two rides in 5 hours not including lazy rivers. Even if the tickets were free, I don t think it would be worth going to suffer in the heat while standing in lines that barely move all day.

The awful experience my freinds and I had here is a defining example of how corporate buyouts destroy great businesses. Was not anywhere near the experience we remember having when we were younger. Spent roughly $500 just for one night at the resort for 4 people, and another $200 at two food stands with 4 halfway frozen margaritas for the whole day. Only experienced the west side park that was absolutely impossible to navigate. We overheard other groups of people sharing the same frustration with having no idea how to enter rides amid overcrowding. For what is supposed to be an amusement park there is a serious lack of signage that actually leads you to each attraction. Guests without a fast pass went out of their way to kindly tell us they had been waiting over an hour just to move halfway through the massive lines for literally any of the tube slides. We were only able to experience the pools due to not wanting suffer sunburn or heat exhaustion from waiting in line. Halfway through the day we were desperate for shaded areas. The pools were dirty and overcrowded. Most comfortable part of the entire day was in the resort cabin. Overall the experience was poor, exhausting, very disorganized and pretty inaccessible for the price.

Signs are extremely confusing, dirty, workers look miserable which I don t blame them. Just save your money and go to Seaworld. I spent $160 to be there for 2 seconds. I thought I did my research but I guess not.

Terrible water park. The only good reviews are from people with the fast passes. It made me so mad to spend $100+ just to wait in line for 2+ hours just to watch 50+ fast pass people get let in before anyone from the regular line is let in. Schlitterbahn is money hungry and does not care about you unless you are willing to fork out tons of money. It use to be so fun when I was a kid and now it s just an awful place I saw multiple kids crying waiting in line because they were so tired of standing and waiting. So don t go here unless you like wasting money and standing in a line that doesn t move all day.

this place used to be an amazing water park experience, now its just a fast pass pay to win cluster fluck. over crowding on a Saturday morning so bad we almost had to sit on the floor to eat. the water at the resort and in the park was filthy with particles floating around and on the bottom. its obvious the place is understaffed as rides close randomly throughout the day due to the park being understaffed. employees look unhappy and arent very friendly. we didnt even get to enjoy any rides because we didnt want to wait 2 hours in the sun with no access to water for a disappointing pay off water slide. food and drink were extremely over priced, 4 small pizzas and 2 waters was $80. 4 mango margaritas in mini solo plastic cups was $60... insane. we drove 3 hours for this btw and we wont be returning.

Careful with Bonus days, I went today and the main West park was closed. Very sad since the West park is the best, in my opinion. Please update the website to clarify that one of the parks will be completely closed. They put random dates on the website but theres not a clear WEST PARK WILL BE CLOSED ON THIS DATE When I emailed corporate about it they could care less about the lack of clarification. I guess its part of their marketing plan because if I would have known one park is closed I wouldnt have spent my money on tickets which are non-refundable. Many people who parked at the West park as I did were confused when the attendant standing in front of the park letting us all know the West park was closed. Read the website completely so you dont make a costly mistake as I did.

We show up Aug 12, Monday morning 10:50 am after purchasing tickets online the previous day, go to the main entrance and its closed , no one at the entrance gate, no signs posted. We notice a line forming across the street. Everyone was told they needed to take the tram to go to the east side of the park. Yes, what they call Schlitterbahn West was closed, not ONE ride but the whole west side of the park. There were NO notices on the website about closing half the park when we purchased our 3 bring a friend passes and the all day meal plans. We asked a grumpy worker why it was closed and they had no explanation and said to talk to a manager. So now by the time we get on the tram and make it to the other side it was 11:45 am. Wow, so we finally made it to the park where all the people that are usually in 2 parts of the park are crammed into one. It was bad enough with the lines when both sides were open. We stood in line for the dragons lair ride for almost 2 hrs in the heat of the day, no water mist, just heat . Two people in our group left the line because they were overheating. As for the other 3 tube rides the wait was just as long. Forget about using the all day meal plan, had to stand in line all day. I didnt know I purchased the stand in line all day pass. The torrent river and the Krystal river were way over crowded. Not enough tubes in either river, had an older guest with us and waited for a tube for along time. On top of that there were so many people in the two rivers my daughter got kicked in the face twice. All-day meal pass: For the one meal we did finally get to use with our ALL day meal plan, the people at the restaurant didnt have a clue. They didnt know what food came with the meal plans. The girl that was handing out the food had a very bad attitude. The park is not at all like it use to be. The new owners are deceptive, incompetent, and do not know how to run a business. We will not be coming back. I will post everywhere and tell everyone how bad our experience was. They do not deserve the business. As others have stated, the people working there dont seem to care about the job. They dont pay attention to the ride which makes it even longer to get on. They just dont care...hmmm just like the owners of Schitterbahn. Sorry for the book but maybe someone from the park might actually read it . As per the worker to talk to a manager.... No manager was available or called me back. Waste of money.

Some friends and I went for a second trip last weekend. We ran into several issues that cause me to give it this rating. First, in the beach area near the masterbalster they are requiring lifejackets to enter. This is not the issue. People leave them loose in the water and they get tangled around others legs. Someone should be in the water making sure guests wear them or they just need to not have people wear them. Secondly, at the old park the following day we encountered two rude employees at the beginning and end of the day. The parking attended turned away people with disability placards (including two disabled veterans and a security guard screamed at people loading their vehicles at the end of the day for not moving fast enough. Third and finally, more than half the rides were closed leading to overcrowding in the pools. It was chaotic and people kept getting jumped on. We will not be back unless and until things change. It was not like this before Cedar Fair and Six Flags took over.

Rude Employees. Front gate employees do not smile or welcome you. Lifeguard s seem to have an issue towards people who are no longer teenagers. Lifeguards do not communicate with people about broken rides, or if there are long wait times. We sat in line for Wolfgang for 3 hours because of a medical emergency Actually it ended up being the conveyer belt that brings up tubes.. okay so tell people about it. That way they cant make an educated decision versus waiting in the hot sun at the top. WOW, the Falls , the longest broken water ride in the world! No news about this online or when we reached the park. Prices are high for waiting for hours. Master Blaster took 2 hours, White Water Chute took 2 hours. We wasted our 2 days trying to wait for the cool rides. Fast Passers ruin the entire fun of the park. It is not a fair system. I can see how it may work at Six Flags bc they fit 10-20 people per ride. Majority of rides are 1-2 and one ride lets 3 at a time. This business should start listening to its Unsatisfied customers. I raved to my daughter and wife about this place. I looked foolish because of how awful it was.

I ve been coming to Schlitterbahn NB from DFW since I was a year old. A chronic illness kept me from going the past 3 years. I finally recovered enough to take a trip again, and this is where I chose to go. Absolute waste of money. Cedar fair ruined the park. Schlitterbahn is dead. I m SO devastated by the changes and the horrible experience I had here on August 12th that I will never, ever come back again unless they sell it. This has been one of my favorite places in the world my whole life. Now, I d LITERALLY rather buy a $20 slip n slide and it would ve been way more fun. I brought friends out here (4 hour drive) for a 1 day trip to this park and regret it. We spent over $200 and didn t get to ride a SINGLE slide because the entire west side of the park was closed, the falls was closed, master blaster and Wolfpack broke after we had already stood in line for over an hour. The ONLY slides available while I was there were dragons lair and the black night. Both had 2-3 hour long lines because the park was so extremely overcrowded. They took the fun giant alligators out of the lazy river for good. If you ask employees anything, they stare at you blankly like they either have no idea, or they just hate you??? Very rude staff, life jackets REQUIRED in the torrent river now. Every single thing that was good about this place has been ruined unless you have $100 per person for a fast pass BEFORE paying for food, drinks, parking, accommodations. Boycott this place so cedar fair has to sell them. I m DISGUSTED by the changes made here. If you want to risk it, purchase your tickets with a credit card so you can try to get a chargeback if they scam you the way they did me. I spent the whole day there and didn t get to ride a single slide. We basically paid $200 to go around 2 lazy rivers a few times. I d ACTUALLY rather go to the grocery store and the DMV. What a shame. I hope they sell the park to a REAL Texan once everyone who grew up going here boycotts it. It was such a terrible experience that I GENUINELY think they are paying people to write the good reviews that are recent to keep the ratings up. There s no way all the good reviews are real, unpaid people that spent their own money to come here. You would genuinely have more fun running errands all weekend. Spend your money on a raft and enjoy the river or literally ANYTHING else. I will never bring my friends here again, and I will never recommend to anyone again, and I will never let my family go there again unless it s sold, either. ANYTHING else is better. Seriously, I d rather go get a blood draw than go back. If someone offered to pay for me to go back, I would say no thank you.

We went to both parks and it seemed like the wait time were less than the year before but the park was still crowded. We went on almost every ride and the Master Blaster 4 times. The longest wait time was about 35 minutes. We were lucky I guess. Anyway we brought our own food and drinks but still bought a refillable Icee cup because my daughter loves Icees. At check in, there was another gentleman checking in and the front desk lady was giving him all the info and then she said that the west side (where the hotel is) was going to be closed as of this day. The reason I stayed here was so I can go to this side! I like this side of schlitterbahn. But now, I did not get to experience it at all. Nowhere in the reservation did it state that this side was going to be closed. I would not have stayed or come had I known. The east side was also packed. 45 minute to an hour and a half line to ride anything because it was over crowded and not the whole park open. Waste of time. Should have just gotten an air bnb and gone to the river! For the price, not worth it. Especially not knowing. When I called they said it is on the website. I don t know what has happened to this place! I used to go here as a child and it was so much fun now not so much. While we still enjoyed the 3 rides we could go on while being there from 11-8, I don t think I ll come back unless I want to spend hundreds of dollars for staying overnight and fast pass unlimited. Then again after all of that, what s even the point? The place has gone down hill quick. Everything looks trashed, the food looks disgusting, the workers look like they hate their life and hate you too, and all of the fun exciting rides aren t the same anymore. We waited in line for 3 hours and 30 minutes for a lazy river ride that lasted 1 minute max. Someone even passed out in the line! I know they know that it s ridiculous because they were instructed to splash us every couple of minutes. We all just stood there for hours watching fast pass members go multiple times and even complain about their wait LOL. While standing in line at a ride we had a life guard push me because I didn t move out of his way fast enough for him and when my mom told him not to touch me he blew his whistle in her face WTH! We didn t even bother telling anyone because every worker would snap at you for even asking a simple question. Towards 6 pm we got in line for a ride and it stopped moving and no one was allowed to go. We never got an explanation from the life guard, he would just stare at you when you asked what was going on. We eventually found out when leaving from another irritated customer that it s because of lightning but it would of been great to hear that before standing around for 20 minutes trying to figure that out. Overall my family and I made the most out of it but we will not be going back.

We wer there until closing at 8pm and were literally only able to ride 3 rides. The staff outside of a few sweet people, acted if they hated their job, they are rude, they don t smile and our very unfriendly. If you ask a question, they look at you as if you are bothering them. The food was terrible, not to mention they had to ask me what I ordered 3 different times before they were able to get to me. I don t expect much from a water park so wasn t expecting it to be good, just bizarre how they could not figure out what we ordered. We did try to go by the over priced fast pass because if you want to even enjoy your visit, you have no other option, by the way, the fast pass, unless you by the 99 dollar one is only good one time on just a limited amount of rides but they were sold out. We went on a Thursday and purchased the Fast Lane band and meal deal. It was perfect! We all got the Wunder Pizza, and it was good--what youd expect from an amusement park. I havent been in decades, so we rushed to the blast rides first. I recommend staying at the resort because they allow you in an hour before the park opens. Ride all you can in that hour! The Fast Lane band is a must. The lines were long otherwise, but we got priority. It allowed us to ride almost everything in a day. The lazy river in the blast park is nuts! Its not lazy at all. Dont snooze on that and find the chute along the left side. If you time it right, you can catch air. Im 40 and a mom, and I was having such a good time acting like a ten year old boy lol If you wanna skip a line, Wolf Pack was a long wait and not really worth it. Its just a 3 person tub type tube with a high-sided pipe. Our favorite rides were Congo River, Whitewater Tube Chute, and Master Blaster. The day we went, the Falls and Cliffhanger were closed due to staffing. The staff was mostly friendly. I chatted with one staff member who did say the guests this year had been terrible, and in the 6 years shes worked there, shes never encountered crowds like that. Maybe thats the reason that the other reviews say the staff is grumpy. Perhaps theyve been dealing with rude and entitled people their whole shift or season and theyre over it. We had a blast and cant recommend the Fast Lane band enough.

This was a blast. Brought my mid-teens son, he had more fun here than anywhere else we went on this vacation, and we pretty much hit every tourist park. We brought beach towels for everyone, bought them especially for this park in fact, after we read online that the park didnt provide towels. We DID NOT USE THEM. Not once. Just had to drag them from place to place. You might, but we didnt and shouldnt have bothered. Having swim shoes or crocs is advised, one of our group did not and the concrete was burning hot in some places. The rides on the east side of the park all start from the top of a tall tower, with a fabulous circulating wave pool at the bottom of the tower. I think the tower has three different rides. Its a confusing chaotic mess, very disorganized, nearly impossible to tell which lines are for which ride as you climb the tower, or which lines are for fast passes, one of the rides has an hour-long wait at the bottom for a special huge sliding device before climbing the tower with it to wait another hour for the actual ride. I would recommend doing some research on reddit or finding a staff member or local kid to explain how the tower rides work before you get there, it just seemed like chaos to us, & we got over there late in the day, so we just gave up & didnt do any of the tower rides. But we all loved the wave pool at the bottom so much that we didnt even hold much of a grudge. We literally spent the last 2 hours the park was open in that pool and had to drag my son away at 6pm. All in all, highly recommended.

Worst waterpark experience of my life. This place is a scam. Dont waste your money or time! Its so bad! We spent an entire day waiting in lines and only got to go down two slides. It was a 2+ hour wait for any slide, while fast pass holders got to go multiple times. When we finally got to go down a slide, we realized the slides arent even good. Definitely not 2-3 hour wait good. Want to go from the West side of the park to the East side? Expect to wait an hour in the sun for the bus. It is extremely crowded. They clearly sell as many tickets as possible without considering the experience guests will have. The place is filthy. Rides constantly and randomly close. The staff look at you with a blank stare when you ask for help, even though the park is large and confusing with no handheld map provided. Want a fountain drink? Ok, but dont expect ice, a lid, or a straw. The best parts of our visit were drinking an Icee because we were so hot from waiting in the sun all day, and walking back to our car because we knew we were finally free of this place. We were frankly shocked at how bad it was. We came from out of town to celebrate a birthday and now feel embarrassed to have made the long trip just to stand in lines all day. We will never come back and will continue to spread the word about this awful, horrible, disaster of a waterpark.

While still the best water park around, this location has been quickly degrading from a fun-filled location where you swam at your own risk to a hand-holding facility where you have to wait in line for a life jacket so you can swim. Ive got a fun list of grievances. These are my complaints as of August 10th 2024... - Lines. They are everywhere. Want to go on a ride? 1.5 hour wait. Want to swim in the lazy river? 20 minute wait. Ride the tram? 45 minute wait. Its unbearable. Open more of the park or charge more. Figure something out, stop meat packing us instead. - Parts closed. Many good attractions are closed. All of tubenbaque (with the largest lazy river rapids ride) was closed. Many rides at the main park end early. (One used to go all the way to the river. Sad) A couple rides at the main were closed. They blame it on staffing shortages that I am quite confident they could solve with a pay raise. - Baby-afying. Many things seem unnecessarily safe now. The biggest gripe is the Blastenhoff wave pool (well, they removed the wave pool part) that leads into the wavy river. They fenced it off to control the amount of people in it. They also are requiring that everyone wear life jackets. Though luckily they dont enforce it and 80% of people take it off and cause the staff to fish them out in large piles. Last year, they had only one entrance to the long lazy river that connected the parks, which defeats the purpose. They also closed off all entrances except one to the Sufenburg lazy river. They mentioned to me these one entrance/exit rules were to count the number of people coming in and out I suppose for safety concerns. So now there is just empty beach looking entrances that are closed off. They also (somewhat understandably) removed the awesome hazardous floating alligators/snakes in the Sufenburg river. Boo. Those were so fun to get hurt on as a kid. Over the past few years I cant say there has been many positive changes to the park. Its on a downward trend. Its unfortunate that its trending this way. I hope some day a competitor park will appear that is more personal responsibility orientation. Id dig an adult park if that is what it takes to let me just have fun without all the strict rules. I used to go every year, but I think its finally time to start looking for a different yearly vacation spot.

This was a disappointing experience for many reasons. We had visited this Waterpark back in 2022 with no fast pass, and were able to enjoy many rides and go into the lazy river/wave pool with no problem. Now, the tickets cost way more (even with a discount its about $67 per person) and you can expect to be in line for a minimum of 1.5 hours per ride, even for the measly ones. We took that 1.5 hr ride to go on the Congo River Expedition. There were points where people got stuck and not moving forward, so eventually I had enough and stood up to push our party forward. Then there is the lazy river. Not only is everyone (children AND adults) required to wear a life vest, but there is a long line to get in as well!! Gone are the days where you can just idly walk in and out whenever you want. When waiting to get on the Wolf Pack and Master Blaster rides, the line moved maybe 10 ft in 30 minutes. At one point the conveyer belt for the tubes stopped working so people had to wait even longer. We did not get a chance to go on said rides. At the end of the day, we decided to try to wait in one more line to get at least a second ride out of the 5 hours we were there. I cant even remember what the ride was, just that it took 45 minutes to not even get through a third of the line, and then the ride was closed due to weather. But no one relayed that to anyone, and so people were waiting in line not knowing that they may not be able to go on. The only good thing about the experience is that we dished out some extra money to get unlimited fountain drink refills for the day. In retrospect it was probably still ~$5 per drink. Needless to say, we are never coming back to this place, even if we got the fast pass.

I visited this past Wednesday and planned on riding the Master Blaster several times by myself (i bought the Fast Lane pass for it) However, I was told I couldnt ride because I weighed more than 250 pounds. I only weigh 261. Your lifeguards tried to force me to ride the Wolfpack instead. I felt so insulted being told i couldnt ride my favorite ride, the #1 water ride in the country and was offered the lousy Wolfpack instead, which isnt even a fun ride. I had to wait a extra 10 minutes before some kid was finally able to ride the Master Blaster with me. In contrast, Ive read that the Schlitterbahn Galveston has a limit of 300 pounds for these types of rides. If I can make a suggestion..... if you cant allow single riders who are overweight on these rides, you should let them ride with sandbags instead. Much better than waiting for a total stranger to ride with you. How shameful of you!

The food is expensive and low quality. We ended up just going to the wave pools and lazy river. There are not enough tubes for everyone and with it being so packed its becoming more money focused than experience. Sadly will not be returning. We went on a Tuesday in July

Honestly Schlitterbahn has been my familys go to spot for many years now. We all have season passes and I purchase tickets for the rest of my friends and family that come to visit from out of town every year, however this will probably be the last year I do that or even recommend anyone going there due to the many changes theyve made this season. Its no longer the same enjoyable park experience it once was. For reference we usually go 1st thing in the mornings and the last couple hours of the day, 3-4 days a week. For rides: West side float rivers (not actual water slides) we always went down backwards to prevent lower back injury which allowed us to just slide over the bumps rather going forward down the drops where you would hit your bum and it compresses that force up your spine. So we stopped going to that side. Torrent river- all guests are now required to wear life jackets. While I appreciate them having adult life vests because not everyone is a strong swimmer or feels confident in water, mandating everyone to wear them is ridiculous. We would spend hours floating in there now we will not be going to that attraction and its also the final change to make me write this review. Floating areas: My children like to swim and I am usually on a tube, when they get tired they grab onto 1 of my handles, if theres not tubes available and we float along (because no tubes is a regular thing) now its like they cant even think about grabbing on without getting whistled at and the lifeguard yelling 1 person per tube even though theyre just hanging on and theres never been an issue until this year. Lines: They have become so much worse. They clear the fast pass line then only let a few of the regular queue through at a time so nothing moves anymore for the regular guest.

Visited for the 1st time yesterday and it wasn t a good experience because I got a pass through a friends seasonal pass which was still expensive (all the prices are overpriced unless you caught a deal) they have their hours on google so we never needed to click there website and instead of closing at 8pm like google says they closed at 6pm So we basically got to do nothing and I feel ripped off. Customer service is just saying we changed our hours on the website but any time you change hours you should change them where ever you have them posted otherwise it causes confusion. Another thing is the workers are kind of rude with bad attitudes for no reason all they do is sit there so I don t get that but I guess. I certainly will never go back here and will encourage others to go somewhere else because there s plenty of water parks to choose from. That s just my take and experience on it

We went to the waterpark for our vacation we spent over $300 for tickets and did not get to use the facilities. When we got there it was super pack which we expected so we caught the bus to the other side of the park. When we got to the other park no one was in the water and couldnt get Im the water because it had started thundering and raining which was understandable. We waited and waited but the rule was if its thunder you have to wait 30 minutes and within those 30 minutes if it doesnt thunder again then we would be able to get in the water but if it thunders with in those 30 min the time will start over. So over a process of 4 hours we could not do anything one time the weather stopped for like 25 minutes then started back up again. I called and ask for a refund or a rain check on tickets and they told us no it was nothing they can do. I was shocked at they way this park operates on customer service. Clearly we didnt get to use the facilities and they knew how the weather was. But we had a wasted vacation and spent over $300 for nothing and they didnt even try to make it right nor did they care too. I guess they feel like they get enough business that they dont care about that one family who chosen to spend their once a year vacation at ther waterpark.

Do yourself a favor and Air BnB a nice place on the Frio and float the river for real with your own drinks and food. Used to be a TX Summer staple. Now, it is an expensive tourist trap. It was bought up by the parks management company Cedar Faire Entertainment Co. They own 6 flags. Youll understand right when you get to the gate. Youre basically at Six Flags now in terms of pricing. Fast passes, premium parking, reserved seating. The works. I thought I was smart and didnt pay for the Fastpass or the reserved seating. That essentially means you will not be sitting, and you will not be riding more than a couple of rides if youre willing to wait a couple of hours. Adults need life jackets for the wave pools now. They got everything fenced off, lots more rules. It is time to find the next discount water park where a family can enjoy some water slides -without costing an arm and a leg. And without the lines!

The wait times for the rides were way to long. 1hr to 2hrs depending on the ride. The food and drink prices were way to high. Example:Low brand beer 10 dollars and barely cold. Some of the staff had a (I dont want to be here look) ven though there were some with happy faces and helpful. The crowd was larger than it used to be and table etiquette was not like it used to be. You will get a holes who will move your things to get a table too. I can honestly say that the cost to fun benefit is just not worth it anymore. Classic example of what happens when a company changes ownership or merges.

My friends and I were so excited to visit Schlitterbahn New Braunfels from out of town. I have visited other Schlitterbahn parks and was looking forward to the fun and ease that comes from a well designed Schlitterbahn park. We started at the East side. Upon arrival at 10:00 we were able to secure a picnic table for all of our things and coolers. Right in front of us is a roped off beach where all of the chaise lounges are crowded together rendering them unusable. We start out at the torrent river. Everyone is required to wear a live vest to participate. These are uncomfortable and smell like B.O. After going around once we decided to get out and try one of the slides behind it. We don t have any idea of any differences between the slides so we choose the wolf pack at random and head up the tower. We also had no idea that the line was going to be so long! We waited between 1.5-2 hours before we made it to the top! Some poor lady in line fainted it was so hot. The ride was underwhelming and not worth the line we waited in. Next we did the falls on the east side. This line went by a lot quicker (30min) and was by far my favorite attraction. Except the part where we had to carry our tubes up the stairs instead of completing the ride. After we decided to try the west side hoping for shorter lines and more space. I asked a park lifeguard how to get to the west side and her response was Is this the west side? This made it clear just how trained their employees are. She was able to direct us to the tram and we eventually got to the west side. Once in the west side we walked around and had some trouble finding tubes. Once we found enough we waited 2 more ours to ride that! We were tired of waiting in lines and the lagoon on the west side looked so crowded it seemed like a hazard. We went back to the east side. By the time we got back there was a line to even get a life vest to go into the torrent river! We went to the Krystal cove and spent the rest of the day there. Life guards don t care to enforce any rules and if they do they are ignored by patrons. The lines are too long and you have no idea how much time you are throwing away until it is too late. If you want to ride all of the rides, better plan on spending the extra money for a fast pass. Otherwise save your money and just float the river. You will have a better time.

Many of the rides in the new park were shortened and they changed the water to chlorine instead of the lake water. Many of the rides have been torn from their former glory and the lines are absolutely atrocious. Me and my family waited 2 hours in the line for the hillside tubing ride even though the line was super short because people with the fast passes would ride them run back up the stair and ride again. New Braunfels thank you for the good times but we will not come back anytime soon

Well, there goes another once great water park. I ve been coming to this park since I was a baby and words can t describe the disappointment I have with what Cedar Fair has done with the park. After all the construction and renovation you would think they were upgrading and cleaning the park. Turns out they basically just downgraded everything. The river side isn t fed by the river except a few rides, the lazy river on the new side requires life jackets to even enter, all of the slides end earlier than they once did, sky coaster is gone, and every pool has been filled to where the deepest point in the whole park is 3 deep. As someone who has dedicated many trips to this park for many years, it s sad to see my childhood ruined by another amusement corporation that only wants to sink the competition to inflate theirs. I hope new owners buy the park soon and restore it to its former glory

Breaks my heart what Cedar Fair (new soulless corporate owners) has done to a beloved Texas icon. This is the beginning of the end for Schlitterbahn. When Cedar Fair inevitably sells, I hope someone buys it cheap and returns it to its former glory. Most of my complaints are also covered in many recent reviews. Ive visited about 7 times, and this will be the last until ownership changes. I once visited when it was 60 degrees and windy, making the rides freezing and horrible, and Id sooner do that five more times than go through what I went through today. Its well documented that Fastpass encourages slower lines overall. Many youtube teardowns about this topic. Before they implemented fastpass, I had never waited in a single line for more than 20 minutes. Now, the lines are 2.5 hours with no fans or mist. Absolutely bring water to wait in line. People were on the verge of passing out, and it was only a moderate Texas summer day. They are very obviously overselling tickets while also closing rides. Two major rides were closed on a Saturday in summer, and many rides have been shortened. The tram to the East Park had a wait of 1.5 hours. I feel bad for anyone who separated from family or friends and got stranded at a different park. Theres no reason not to have trams constantly running people back and forth. We took a bus from the parking lot that was about a mile away (again, overselling tickets), and the bus took us to the wrong park, so we had to get off and take the tram. Thankfully, there was no wait from East to West when we arrived. Hours after arriving home and showering, my skin is itchy, and I feel dirty. There was trash everywhere, including trash in the water on a few rides, and our cabana smelled like dirty feet and mildew. The park used to be well kept and beautiful. Employees dont know basic info like where is x ride. This is on management entirely, I do not blame the young staff. There are no paper maps anymore, and the online map has the resolution of an 80s videogame. I had to find a map from a random online source who happened to have an old one uploaded. Our cabana server was amazing. Unfortunately, I forgot her name, but she was working at the West Park kiddie pool cabanas nearest the changing rooms on 8/3/2024. She was overwhelmingly the best aspect of the entire trip. If I get her name, Ill add it here later. Management and ownership should be ashamed and expunged. I guess this is the end result of race to the bottom capitalism and corporate greed. Everything you love will be squeezed to a husk, faintly resembling its former self, but devoid of the juice you crave and, ultimately, should just be trashed so we can all move on. I feel bad that it was most of my familys first time to visit. I must look like an idiot with how much I (previously) talked up the park. They drove their kids many hours to ride maybe two rides in the 8 hours we were there.

Wow, new braunfels schlitterbahn has gone downhill since being bought out. We went Saturday from 10-3. In 20 years of going we have never had an issue parking. Today we had to wait 15 minutes to even get in the parking lot just to be told the only parking available is $40. We have never paid for parking. So we had drive a mile back to the fair grounds and wait for a bus to take us back to the park. Then once inside we see that the torrent river now only has 1 entrance and exit AND you have to wear a life jacket! Are you serious? An adult is required to wear one. That ruins the entire experience. We took one round and left to go to the falls. Which now only has one entrance and you now have to wait in line. At the end of the falls, you can no longer take the corkscrew conveyor belt up. You have to get off your tube, carry it up 6-7 flights of stairs and chunk it over the gates. Then if you want to go again, go back and stand in the long line. So off to surfenburg, praying no life jackets were required in the Kristal river. The top slide into the river is no longer accessible to regular ticket holders, but at least no life jackets were required. The water was cloudy and full of tree limbs, leaves, flowers and who knows what else. What really pissed me off was the one entrance and exit at Kristal river. People just stood on the steps and wouldn t move. Then they waited for tubes and held onto the handrails to try and get into the tube. Get out of the way!!! I had to brush away the junk in the water the entire time. The heated pools were not heated. And the dragons revenge was not open. So glad we didn t buy the season pass. Definitely not like it used to be. Won t be going back anytime soon.

Staff was friendly and helpful. That s where the positivity stops. For a non busy day the wait lines were very long and inefficient. During the 6 hours we were in the park we rode a total of 3 rides. The remainder of the time was spent waiting in line to ride. Wait time for Wolfpack ride was over 75 mins from the staircase right below the upper deck. Being this close to the top should have taken no longer than about 20-25 mins even with fast pass riders. Wait time for cliffhanger tube chute was another 1.5 hours of standing. Not to mention the tubes on this ride get stuck on as well causing riders to have to get off their tube and push themselves to the next lifeguard for forward movement. There also should be more family rides. Not even 1 ride caterers to a family larger than 3. Creating more multi rider options helps to move the flow of the park. Too many single and same style river tube rides (5 to 6). If we wanted to tube we would have paid half the price and went to the comal river instead. If this was a non busy Thursday, I d hate to see this place on a busy day or a weekend. Your Operations and staff Training need a revamp. Waiting for the green light before loading the next person takes about 10-15 seconds. Doesn t seem like a lot, but once you do that for 40-50+ people it starts to add to your wait time. Instead, once you send a rider, prepare the next rider in que so that when the green light comes on they can go. Of the 15-20 water parks I ve visited, this is the only park I ve seen not operate this way. Wait times are to be expected, but again on a day where the park was at 50-75% capacity, having these kind of wait times are pathetic. Especially when they are easy fixes. Your west side needs a complete revamp. It s old and outdated. Turn a couple of those tube shutes into a multi-rider experience and retrain with a faster load time and you may be on your way to a better customer experience. However, the way your current management/ownership is operating doesn t entice me at all to buy a season pass or even visit again after my last 2 times. (Visited back in 2017 and now again in 2024). Happy standing to those who choose to visit this place.
