My husband and I ordered online so we could pick up pizza before our movie last night. Even though the pizza wasn t ready when we got there they accommodated us and started our order right away. This is a small pizza joint and the flavoring was amazing. I was full half way in on my 7 pizza but couldn t stop eating because of the spices. I would suggest going when you are not in a hurry and fully enjoy the laid back atmosphere. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free crust was delicious

This place has gone downhill since I left 3 years ago. Found myself in NBTX and decided to eat at my favorite pizza place. So disappointed. Pizza was burnt. Ingredients were poor quality. Staff not friendly. I saw a dish at one of the tables and inquired about. Female staff didnt want to be bothered. Too much money for a small pie. Not worth it. Next time Ill wait and spend my money at Pie Society in SMTX.

First time to try Above Ground Pizza, and I wont go back. The garlic ring was burned black and the pizza was tough and crunchy. I gave them 2 stars because the other 2 pizzas ordered were okay but definitely not tasty enough at $22 a pie to try Above Ground again.

I have to say this place was awesome. Stayed at the Wingate next door. Went there for dinner since it was walking distance and honestly was not expecting to much. But this place was great. The pizza dough tasted great and the employees all seemed friendly. I would recommend this place if youre looking for some great Italian food for a decent price. It was a nice and flavorful pizza with thin tasty crust. They cook it in like a big brick oven with fire and its just great. Give it a shot if your unsure.

Delicious pizza. The mushroom dip was awesome but very heavy. Just needed more bread with the dip! Buffalo chicken pizza was delicious. Pesto pizza was a little lighter on flavor as pesto isnt a notoriously over powering flavor. But it was delicious. I added prosciutto and it came out great. Definitely going back to try the Mac and cheese and pastas!

Recipes seem changed since ownership changed. The mushroom dip went from being well roasted shrooms, lovely caramelized brown in color, to thick white bland cream. Pizza was not adequately sauced. Pizza crust still on point though.

When nothing is happening like its supposed to, their All Day Lunch Special makes everything better! Have driven by it countless times, wanting to check it out, and now that I have, i wish I had done it sooner... Had the All Day Lunch Special, that began with a properly made Caesar Side Salad (where I come from, they arent like that often), followed by a wonderful 7 inch pepperoni pizza baked in an oven that I have never seen anything like before... Will definitely be going back!

Waited almost 10 minutes for the doors to open for business. The dining area seemed a bit dark. Wed never been but came because of the reviews. As we waited to be seated, we were told to grab a menu & we could sit wherever. There were 2 gentlemen preparing food & a cashier who showed up almost 20 minutes after the establishment opened. We didnt realize that we had to come to counter to order. The cashier took our order & gave us cups to get our used tea. The tea tasted watery, but we proceeded to wait for our order. Next, an o line customer came in to pick up a large company order, which h made me feel like ours was going to get pushed back. Especially when business order was not ready. We were literally the only ones in the place. Everything just felt off since the business opened late. I ordered a salad with my pizza & it appeared that the cashier was helping with orders. I witnessed the cashiers not using gloves & using disposable dip containers to get what appeared dressing/sauce es from large containers. She got sauce on one of her hands & I was sho ked that she scraped the excess sauce on her finger on the edge of the sauce container. By this time, itd been more than 30 minutes in AGP & Id seen enough to know I was NOT going to eat or further drink anything from here. LOTS! of room for improvements. Not sure what events may have occurred before opening the doors but everything & everyone seemed off on this day. Overall, disappointed. The food handling needs to be addressed before some gets very Ill or worse someones child or an elderly person. Definitely health violations.

Ordered and picked up 14 buffalo chicken pizza. I like the texture of their bread and the fact they use fire ovens. However, my pizza lacked a good balance of sauce and cheese. The chicken itself was okay, but blue cheese does not really sit well with pizza. The blue cheese honestly made the pizza taste worse in my opinion. It also seems they just put a dab of buffalo sauce with little marinara. The atmosphere and setting seem cool and fitting, but their pizza menu is pretty out there . Their pizzas are also very pricey, especially compared to other local pizza joints in NB and the Dominos across the street lol. I should have probably sticked with an original classic pizza like supreme or cheese and might do that next time.

The food we ordered was great! I ordered the pizza, the Sir William Creamy Garlic and Mushroom with hot Italian sausage; it was amazing! I ordered the small size and brought home half the pizza!!! My daughter and I went here tonight for dinner while visiting San Marcos because it was close to our hotel! We were pleasantly surprised by how great this place was! It has been three months, but I still think about this pizza! Some places talk about their woodfired ovens, Above Ground actually has the taste of wood firing and that is a good thing! We found out about it from a local and it has the feel of a well kept gourmet secret. We made sure to get a big enough pizza that we could take some home with us on the long drive back to Dallas. It didnt make it for a second day before being devoured. We will be back when we can! If youre in the area, even just passing through, its worth the stop.

Popped in for a quick lunch. I had the pizza/salad combo. It was pretty good for lunch wasn t disappointed as it was my first time. However, I was a little grossed out whenever I noticed the gentleman making pizzas would grab toppings for pizzas (with no gloves on/no hand washing) & then he would be on his personal cell phone (touching the screen) then go back to making a pizza & touching food with dirty fingers/hands. No hand washing involved. Gross!! cell phones are germ invested from our dirty hands, fingers, & mouth/face. I noticed this because I sat at the bar & just couldn t help but notice because he was making the pizzas right in front of me. This seems minor & silly but it s just negligence & customers notice these things.

My family and I have been meaning to try Above Ground Pizza since it opened and we were impressed by all of the high reviews. We decided to grab take out for dinner. Unfortunately, our first experience was absolutely horrible. We ordered a large Supreme Pizza (pepperoni, homemade sausage, fresh basil, roasted red peppers, and black olives) and an order of the cheesy bread. Paid $38 for the two items. The Pizza was sloppy and dripping with grease. The homemade sausage tasted seriously rotten/spoiled and the flavor of yuck spread throughout the whole pizza which made it inedible. The $12 cheesy bread was 5 slices of Italian bread barely sprinkled with cheese that was so hard that nobody could bite it. It wasnt crispy hard, it was shoe leather hard. We ended up throwing the whole mess in the trash and heating up leftovers. Thoroughly dissatisfied and disappointed! I will never go back!

This place was really good they have good service, good food, and a good selection of food for everyone. I recommend this place for everyone. Vegetarian options: They had a very good vegetarian option there, we got the salads and mushrooms. Dietary restrictions: They had a good selection of dirt things and you can order keto crust, keto bowls and other things. Parking: It was easy to fine parking and didn t have to walk far in the sun. AGP is a great little hole-in-the-wall pizza joint. We got the Codies Primal Pie and the Margherita. Admittedly, I was a little disappointed that they opted to use whole tomatoes on the Margherita instead of sauce, but it was great in its own way a kind of deconstructed take on classic pie. So, upon arrival we were given menus and told to select a table. Many of the tables were piled with garbage from previous guests, we selected a table with no garbage however there were crumbs and drink wrings on the cheap plastic table cloth that had holes in it! We hoped that a server would wipe the table but that never happened! We placed our order at the counter and my husband got a terrible red wine (the only one they offered) my craft beer was pretty good. We ordered the antioxidant salad, the menu stated that it would include sunflower seeds and croutons, there were none! We ordered the margarita pie, we were horrified to see that the fresh basil had been baked in the oven! The basil should be added after baking! The black crispy bitter baked basil destroyed the flavor of the pizza! I absolutely did not enjoy dining amongst the previous customers crumbs and filth, eating food where there was absolutely zero attenuation to detail! I will not return and I absolutely do not recommend this place!

Underground Pizza was undeniably the best pizza in town until, alas they moved and became Aboveground Pizza. As they moved to a part of town much more distant from me and much more congested than before, Ive suffered these years with no UG (or AG) Pizza. A social event with Aboveground Pizza happily reminded me what I was missing. What a treat is was to stop into this wonderful establishment for some lunch takeout. I have passed by the location numerous times, but this was my first visit. I was the first customer of the day, but the service was more like I was an old friend being welcomed home. The meal itself was excellent The garlic ring and calzone were both some of the best that I have had in the state. This spot is truly worthy of my coveted Certified Mad Good rating and highly recommended to those looking some some tasty pizza.

We love AGP! The house salad and homemade dressings are amazing! Pizza crusts are fresh, and perfect for dipping in ranch! It is a small establishment but we have always found a place to sit. The bar is a great place to eat and watch the kitchen! We always will pick AGP first. They do close on the earlier side some nights but overall it s the best pizza around!!!

Above ground is the best pizza in New Braunfels. Just stop by tonight to get a pizza. I got the special t ham spicy sausage many other things, special sauce and Caesar salad. This place use to be Underground Pizza and now is in its new location with the name Above Ground Pizza. Still the best pizza in town with the same amazing owners. Sauce is too spicy, cheese is tangy like a goat cheese. Crust is ok for a non chain pizza. A tad overpriced as well as a ham and cheese calzone, a 14 hamburger pizza and a pitiful order of garlic bread ( $12 for about 8 pc of light airy french bread cut angular and a sprinkle of cheese on each) came to around $72 not including a 15% tip. Just not our cup of tea.

Sad to see this is one of the better pizza joints in NB. Disclaimer: grew up in NY/CT, and unfortunately have been spoiled by good pizza joints. Had the Margherita pie. Crust was a little hard, tough. Pizza on the blander side. Personally not a fan of the cherry tomatoes either. Suspect cheaper ingredients being used for these pies probably a reflection of food prices nowadays.

The pizza was a bit of a misrepresentation of what youre actually presented. 7 is an estimate of the Outer diameter of the serving... more of a 5 serving of Non-Dough center. For the value, cannot recommend. Had majority of individual Pizza companies in town, cant even place them in top 5...maybe lower 10. Good ingredients, inconsistent on delivery. A bit too thick on the crust, toppings get lost. Cant suggest the tea, stick with Beer or Can Soda.

Was in town for our wedding anniversary. We decided to stop in and try a bit of everything. To start. The Caesar Salad was very authentic. Probably the best Ive ever had. For an appetizer, we tried the Creamy Mushroom dip. That alone would have completed the meal. We decided to order the small cheese pizza and it was delicious. It s rare I ll take time to write a review. The place has to be VERY bad, or VERY good. In this case, Above Ground Pizza is VERY good. I owned a pizza store for 9 years and I m very picky with pizza. I know how hard the job is and how much talent is required to be successful at the craft. The owners (chefs) are extremely talented at this craft, and have outstanding customer service skills too. They are both here to welcome you and serve you, and they both work very hard. If you re going to listen to any review, listen to this one and give this place a try.
