As they say, don t judge the book by its cover. First couple of hours in the area and looked for something a little different than the usual. Came across this place from google recommendations. It s a simple place, clean and cozy. You look at the menu and order at the counter, they ll bring you the food at the table. Since I was dining in, expected the food to arrive to the table ready to eat. Had to unpack and serve myself. Food packs a punch of flavors and if you arrive hungry, you ll leave full. Mika, the server is friendly and helpful and assisted me making my choice. Priced moderately and not bad at all. Will come back again and choose something different the next time.

Atmosphere looses a point because the swamp cooler does t really work so it s hot inside but better than outside. Edit: So all I wanted to do was post the vegan menu images because I noticed there weren t any. This isn t how I normally leave a review as it s my first time posting a photo. Google gives multiple choices and things that don t normally pop up when I m posting a regular review without photos. I thought I could just post the photos and be done. I m glad the owner replied to my review but I definitely wanted to leave a better one now that I realize this little tidbit doesn t float under the photos only. I LOVE this place. It is the only place that offers Vegan choices that is centrally located for my vegan friends and I to hang out and grab a bit to eat. A delicious bite I might add. Despite the swamp cooler issue in summer, I highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone. There are many options for vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores. The food is also tasty! The best falafel I have ever had. Curry is delicious and I m glad they have a broad spectrum of spicy to not as spicy. I m not good with a lot of spice so I like their mild spice level which is perfect for me, and for those I hang out with who love spicy foods the medium is good (which I ve tried and to me it feels like SUPER hot, lol). I will be trying the desserts next time I go. They have become my favorite and I m definitely a returning customer. Parking: The parking can be limited in the summer as people can access it to park for the river.

Food was absolutely disgusting. The chicken vindaloo was nothing but spicy tomato sauce with canned chicken. The chicken biryani was plain jasmine rice with watery chicken flavored sauce poured over the top. I ordered Naan bread but it was never made. The only thing that was good was the can of Dr Pepper.

We recently visited this Indian restaurant and had a delightful experience. While the food may not be entirely authentic, it was incredibly tasty and enjoyable. We tried various spice levels, and each one was perfectly balanced and delicious. The building itself is a bit small, so we chose to sit outside, which added to the charm of our visit. If you re looking for a flavorful meal with a range of spice options, this place is definitely worth a visit!

My recent dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. We were greeted with warm, welcoming smiles and attentive service that set the tone for a wonderful afternoon after tubing down the comal river. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that every detail of our meal was perfect, making us feel truly valued and cared for. The food is simply phenomenal. Try the Mommas Tikka Masala! The ambiance complements the outstanding food and service, creating a comfortable and inviting atmosphere that makes you want to linger and savor every moment. Whether youre a local or just passing through, this is a must-visit destination. I cant wait to return and explore more of their delectable menu.

NOT Indian food. Having lived in Seattle where there are a plethora of authentic Indian Restaurants we found this restaurant to be very disappointing. While we both appreciated the vegan/vegetarian options for the curries, neither of them had Indian flavors. Also, we ordered them medium spice but it had none. The chai was very good. Additionally, the lady who was working the front was always in the back. Each time we needed something (1st walked in, place order, getting dessert to go, etc) we had to shout at the kitchen to get her. Wont be back unless we want a cup of chai.

Ive eaten Indian food all over the world... from England to Alabama and this was the lowest quality Ive ever encountered. I really love Indian food and I hope that New Braunfels gets a good Indian restaurant... this, unfortunately, is not it. A total overhaul of how they prepare and serve their food and much better ingredients are needed. The split second a decent competitor shows up in NB, this place will be toast. Ordered Daal, Aloo Gobi, and Vindaloo. The spice in all 3 tasted more like gas station level pizza sauce than anything that resembled Indian Food. The Garlic Naan was pita bread. It somehow cost me $50 for what a TV dinner wouldve honestly been better than. The guys working all seemed nice. They worked quickly to prepare our to-go order and were kind and courteous. Maybe the Greek food could be better but Im out on this spot.

I came in on a Sunday evening at 7:25, I went to counter and started looking at a menu. There was a young woman standing there who did not greet me at all. After looking at the menu for several minutes with continued silence from the counter person, she finally spoke up and all she had to say was. Were now only doing togo orders, and they dont let anyone eat in their dining room past 730, even though they close at 8. Had this girls lack of welcoming behavior not already made me feel like I was just an inconvenience, this certainly pushed that notion over the top! I was kind of disappointed considering I drove 25 minutes from San Marcos to try this because it seemed interesting. I was certainly not interested in having my order boxed up, and allowed to get cold and dead on the drive home. I pointed out that this was rather rude, and uninviting. Her reaction was to summon a slovenly dressed large man from the kitchen to address the situation. At this point I said nevermind, Ill spend my money somewhere else. To which the large kitchen slob insolenty and loudly said, have a good night!. Needless to say the words did not match the tone behind it. I do not plan on returning, and my hope is that they decide to conduct a little basic human interaction training with their staff, because the way it stands now, it cant be good for business.

OK. If you are Indian or from the Mediterranean, you would know that this restaurant is neither. Most people I saw there had absolutely no clue what Indian food is. Biriyani is nowhere close to the pulp they serve there. Korma is absolutely disgusting. We went there specifically after driving 1 hour to be disappointed beyond repair. Dine in was served in tin foils in a tray. Flimsy paper plates were provided when asked how to eat this without plates. Food is all readymade, frozen and just warmed here. Rice is prepared in the electric cooker. Absolutely not the way to cook Indian rice dishes. I can safely say you all eating there have no clue what you are eating in the name of Indian food just because of the name of the establishment. If you want to taste what real biriyani is, go to Kohinoor.

Ordered takeout so can t speak to the atmosphere of the restaurant but our food was NOT good. It was prepared quickly and on time though. I ve eaten Indian food all over the country and world and this was in the bottom 10%. I had chicken vindaloo which hardly had any meat in it, no potatoes at all and was overly tomato flavored. The other two people in my group also thought their Indian dishes were very lackluster and each of us would not go back to this restaurant again. Unfortunately it s the only Restaurant Indian food restaurant I m aware of in New Braunfels but the drive to San Antonio is more than worth it to get actually good Indian cuisine.

The samosas are yummy! (Get a few extra to warm up for lunch the next day) I havent tried the Greek options yet, only the Indian inspired meals. And have been back a few times, never disappointed.

This is Worst restaurant in USA. We had very bad experience here. Food is not even ok and it s getting smell. Owner and staff here are complete money oriented. We went (20 people and paid more than $200) here for lunch and ordered food, They collected money before order comes, as soon as one of the order comes we realize that food is not good and it smells bad. Immediately we have cancelled the order( Not yet they prepared other orders) and ask for refund. The staff said they don t have authority to revert money and they will call us to refund the money next day.( Since we are not local and went for camping over there) We trust those guys and went from there. But now they are not calling us and not refunding the amount. Better not to go here and double check the food before you pay them!

I m not sure how this establishment has such a high rating and/or passes for Indian food. Maybe because it s the only place in NB for anything relatively close to Indian food within like a 20 mile radius. It s authentic at all. Vindaloo and paneer are literally just tomato purée. Biryani has no flavor, and is watered down. Flavoring is very mild. Quality of food tastes frozen and watered down. Would never recommend for anyone looking for authentic Indian food and would never go back. My husband and I were extremely disappointed.

UPDATE taking away all stars because of the severe GI distress eating here caused me. I could not go into work this morning. Wow. DO NOT EAT HERE!!! I was excited that New Braunfels has an Indian food option, but even for takeout this was not good. I got the most basic dishes possible, butter chicken and garlic naan and both were bad. The butter chicken had a thick layer of grease slicked over the top and was overly sweet. I know butter chicken is sweet and I ve had it at many establishments prior. This was so sweet it was gross. The naan was soggy and looks like it comes frozen and they reheat it because it was rubbery. Even the rice tasted old and dry. I did not finish my meal and do not plan to dine here again. Disappointing because I would love to support a local Indian place, but this was a huge miss for me.

Food is good, I order Chana Masala Indian style but that is to much spicy. I found red hot paper not in Chana (chickpea) but make Chana in red hot paper. All other things are good. Like cleaning, service and associates are friendly.

Failed attempt of meditarian and indian fusion. I order biryani, it was more like curry over rice. Roti was for sure frozen haldiram or deep roti. Vendaloo curry was like uncoocked tomato puree topped with chicken or protein of your choice. This place can be anything else but not indian restaurant for sure. Mostly all food was recreation of some frozen or precooked food, they just prepare rice fresh. Dont pick food based on picture they have in restaurant, because what you get dont look like those.

3.5 stars. If there is no other Indian restaurant within 20 mile radius this will do ok. The portions are smaller or the prices are a bit high. Don t want to say this is not authentic but seems adapted to softer palette. For this price I would expect table service but this is self service. Ok I guess.

Agree with other reviewer, that this shouldn t be called an Indian restaurant. We ordered saag paneer among other dishes but this saag paneer was never cooked. Literally saag was blended and some paneer added and packed. We could taste the raw green leaf juice. Falafel was just reheated from a frozen bag as some of the prices were not even heated properly as part of a deconstructed veg falafel wrap! Am surprised how this place is highly rated, food at best is a version of fusion if we are being kind and the cooks have for sure never learnt how to cook Indian food.

This is our favorite restaurant in New Braunfels! We order takeout from them often and they never disappoint. We love that they have delicious food for many dietary restrictions, as well as some healthier options. Their naan and pita are sooo good! The korma, chana masala, hummus, and tikka masala are all delicious too. The only negative things I can say are that I miss their tikka masala since having to go dairy-free and we get very sad when we want to order from them and then realize they re closed (on Sundays & Mondays)!

The place was clean and tidy and I had high hopes. Living in San Antonio, and then Bulverde, I had had been wanting to try this place for about two years. I happened to be passing through and decided today was the day. And you dont even understand. I live for Indian food. I love spicy food. I eat it. I cook it. Ive never been this disappointed in an Indian dish. I got their interpretation of spicy shrimp vindaloo which basically looked and tasted like spicy, vinegary, ketchup with little, baby shrimp in it. I mean, Ive gone to some bad Indian buffets, but a little quaint Indian boutiquish spot in New Braunfels? I expected at least some Indian spices and depth of flavor? Imagine a can of tomato sauce+cayenne pepper+vinegar=vindaloo. No!!! It should be so much more!!! Add some real Indian flavors. Texans can handle it. We dont need watered down ketchup with cayenne pepper!

One of the most significant disappointments of my life. I ve ordered their food twice hoping it was just a one time issue with how the food was prepped. I love me some Indian food, and This is the only restaurant close to my house, the food was incredibly bland. Spice level was decent but there wasn t any flavor. Pretty sure they forgot to add any salt. Edit: had to update my rating from 2 stars to 1, since 0 is not an option. Thank you the diarrhea I had to deal with all evening and night.

This review is for indian food - Indian hot - is just chilly powder poured in without any balancing of spices. If you claim indian food learn a thing or two about indian spices its not just increasinv red chilly powder in same curry paste. Plus there is 0 salt in the food. Makes it literally inedible food . Nothing is authentic about this place for indian food here . And if you decide to go donot order spicy. Go for medium and eat it like soup for filling you up . No issues with service person. Low key place - Paper plates used

We tried to eat there last night and arrived probably about half an hour before they closed. They were already closed inside which we were understanding of as they offered Togo. They refused to even let us eat on their outside tables which was very asinine for zero reason. They close way too early to begin with. 8pm is way too early to close. We gladly ate at a burger place down the road instead. Much better service. I would avoid this place.

In a word - inconsistent. When good, their food is really good - and we re glad to have them in NB!! Would definitely recommend doing take out, we prefer it over sitting inside there.

We got the butter masala with chicken, garlic and butter naans, mango lassi, and macaroons. The naans, lassi and macaroons were pretty tasty, but the butter chicken was pretty terrible. It s pink colored and seems to be missing something. It s like all heavy cream/chicken and only a little bit of other ingredients with zero spice or flavor detected. We ve had butter chicken that was SO much more authentic and better tasting at Kohinoor in San Antonio and at Charcoal Zyka in Orlando, FL. Also, when I asked about the price of the macaroons, the lady at the counter would not give me an answer and just kept asking how many I wanted. They turned out to not be very expensive, but I shouldn t have had to find out the cost only after paying. Last thoughts are that the place is pretty small with a disorganized ordering experience.
