Unfortunately for all of us residents who pay our monthly dues, the food in the restaurants just isnt very good, and it hasnt been for a very long time. Its basically frozen-then-fried Sysco bar food. And dont forget that mandatory 18% service charge which, as printed at the bottom of every receipt, is Not a tip or a gratuity.

Over priced food, drinks by double. Close early, open late, very poor practice areas, range is closed or out of balls 50 to 75% of daylight hours through out the year and they treat members like they are lucky to be there and give them their money. Aka, terrible customer service. Golf course has been getting better every year but time and maintenence is only put into the putting surfaces. Everything else is the equivalent of a do it yourself job by your average Joe that doesnt know what he is doing. They rise prices and nickel and dime anything and everything any chance they get. Beautiful spot, scene and patio..... They have been raising membership prices about every quarter and cut out the social events. They had cart path only for 5 months straight. Most of the time the only mud spots were only there bc of their leaking sprinklers they never fix. I dropped my membership despite living on the course and am about to put my house for sale and find another club bc this one is so insanely horrible.

An unforgettable racist experience!!!!!! Normally I don t write reviews but I decided to take a little time to give a big 6 STAR if available to the staff working at the pro shop and security personnel working that morning of 03/18 Saturday. My son had STPGA tournament at the club that morning and a couple walking two Dalmatian dogs on the street chasing us down to the parking lot started yielding and cursing us just because they felt like my car passing them a little too close to them. They literally walking their two big dogs on the public street and blocking all the traffic just because they wanted to walk theirs dogs the way they wanted. The husband wearing the RED hoody started approaching to me and started spitting all kinds of racist words and threatening us and wanting to have a fight with me. I will just stop the story right here because there is no point of showing what kind of loser he is anymore. He did all these right in front my wife and kid. What kind of coward and loser is he? Anyway, pro shop staff immediately called security personnel and took the statement from me. I think they handled this perfectly and professionally disregard the bad experience we had that morning.

Stayed 3 nights 4 days for our anniversary at the Sweetwater. Condo very very dated. Not what you would expect. No ceiling fans in bedrooms. They keep old square fans in closet. Bedding was horrible and cheap and had a smell to it. Never again!

I would give zero stars if possible. We stayed here for a weekend get together with friends, but the security guards were racist and wouldnt let one member of our group into the gate. His name was on the list of approved guests and had given his drivers license but happened to be black. Because of this, he had to take an Uber back to Houston after the guards rejected his entry. The next day, our white friends checked in without issue and didnt need any documentation. A truly terrible experience and we are considering legal action.

Let me preference my comments by saying, I totally agree with securing your community and takung care of property HOWEVER, what is happening at Aprl Sound is harassment, racial profiling and discriminatory. I work for a grocery delivery company and show my creditials every time I come. On today a female security officer said she couldnt see the address on my app then proceeded to ask me where I was headed. She was rude so I tried to give her my phone. She then said I need your name. I have been delivering for a year now and never had to go through so much garbage just to get my customer her groceries. I will no long accept anything from the community again.

The April Sound Championship Course is a hidden gem. I have played at over 15 private country clubs in the Houston area this year and April Sound is second to none. The course superintendent should be congratulated for the excellent course conditions and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!

TL/DR this country club discriminates against nursing mothers. Stayed at an Airbnb in April Sound this weekend. The house was great and we were told that we could use the pool at the country club. My friend and I took all our kids (1, 3, 5, and 6 years old) there on Saturday and it was an awful experience. First, we didn t have cash on us to pay the $5 per adult fee so even though they had a bar at the pool that accepts credit cards, they made us leave to get the $10. Leaving meant leaving April Sound all together because apparently there are no ATMs at the country club. It would have been easy for them to charge us for a drink and give cash back for the admission and we know they had the cash on hand because when my friend got back with a $20 they were able to make change. Instead of making it easy for us, my friend had to load up the baby and leave me with to manage the rest of the kids while she went on a 30 minute hunt for a cash machine. Next, the pool director was so overbearing. She was patrolling the pool deck with her hands on her hips the whole time policing everyone s activity. Y all, this pool was full of old people and families with little kids. No one was acting rowdy or anything but calm and relaxed. I was afraid to even let my kids get out and jump in for fear we would get fussed at. She also told me that the kids were not allowed to play or be on the stairs in the shallow end. The steps were plenty wide enough and that rule prevents my small children who are still learning to swim to be able to rest when they need to. You can t expect a child who can barely touch to be able to keep swimming safely with out being able to use the steps. Finally, friend and baby get back and she s not in the pool for a full minute before the woman comes and tells her she has to have a very specific brand of swim diaper in order to have the baby in the big pool so she got banished to the baby pool!! It would have been great if she had mentioned that earlier when she sent her and her one year old out to find the $10 they could have taken a card for. The final straw was when the pool director walked over to a breastfeeding woman and not only told her to cover up, but PHYSICALLY COVERED HER BABY S HEAD WITH A TOWEL! It was 100 degrees out that day. Even if it was legal for her to interfere with the woman breastfeeding (which it isn t) it s too hot to cover a baby s face with a towel. The woman was in a chair with her back to the rest of the pool goers, only facing her own family. She wasn t bothering anyone at that pool. The director insisted that she was following April Sound Country Clubs rules and I informed her of the law, which takes precedence over their ridiculous rules. If it is your policy that nursing people cover up, I suggest you review the law or face a lot of angry breast feeders organizing a nurse in to show you just how ok breastfeeding without a cover is. We felt unwanted at the pool and uncomfortable, like they were grudgingly allowing us to be there in the first place, so it was an easy choice to leave once we saw how they treated another mother... but not being able to enjoy the pool we were supposed to be able to use put a huge damper on our 4 day vacation. The house was nice and our host will get a good rating from us on Airbnb, but we will NEVER vacation in April Sound again.

Great view good scenery at the waterfront edge in April sounds peninsula. The security is tight to get in and you must be a member or know someone who lives there or you will turn around. I had angus cheeseburger. And my father had a mahi-mahi sandwich to go and a beer at the bar while waiting for the food.. the old boys and patrons at the bar were friendly. Food came rather quickly and was definitely tasty and prepared well. All in all summed up it didnt quite validate the $45 lunch . And for those non tippers , well Ill put it this way they will end up dipping before they know it..$$$

we recently attended a wedding there. while the atmosphere, ballroom and scenery was nice, the food was not. the wedding had sliders for appetizers, but they were cold. for the main course, steak and salmon were served. the steak was not good. there was a little browning on the outside, but the steaks werent cooked, and no one ate it (still mooing). the salmon was dry, but at least cooked. but, at least everyone had a good time.

If you dont have kids or your kids are doing golf then this place is for you. They dont have an activity center. There is a swimming pool that is closed on Mondays. The swimming pool was poorly kept and closes at 7 p.m. We stayed in a first floor and you can hear the people on the second floor walking.

Its been about 15 years since I have been back to this country club. My family owned a home here in April Sound and this was the weekend getaway. We loved playing golf here and this is the golf course I won my golf clubs on, when I beat my stepfather on his own course. I have included many pictures so you can see the beauty of this place . Although I didnt get a kitchen pass. This place is spic and span. Employees were having a great time. My bartender was a pleasure and I enjoyed picking on him. This was a back to school bash. Everyone had a blast ! Kenny Cooper Band was great. People were singing, dancing, and playing. Its a must if you need a wedding venue! Beautiful grounds and employees. Its on my list of must see if you are in April Sound. Thank you for a great evening. Enjoyed it.

Upon entering the April Sound community, I am impressed by the intensity of the front gate guards. I am treated with utmost respect and at the same time feel that they would tase me if I breach the gate. There is a vehicle positioned to intercept & pursue the lower classes of society if they somehow infiltrate this pristine neighborhood. The streets are narrow, not quite wide enough for 2 trucks to drive side-by-side. As I drive over the rolling hills towards my rental destination, I admire the eccentric street signs, indicating that I am indeed in a different world. In the morning my party and I drive the short distance to the Country Club for a pool adventure. I park 10 feet away from the entrance. Fantastic. The time is 10AM on a Wednesday. A quick scan of the pool shows only a few geriatrics doing water aerobics. I also see the widest, best toddler & baby pool Ive ever seen. The water is 1.5 feet all around, its wide enough for 30 toddlers to be in there at the same time, and also just deep enough for Big Papa to get his belly button wet, but not quite deep enough for him to lay out to catch a frisbee (as he soon discovered). The water is so perfectly manufactured that is has that shoe factory smell which accompanies new shoes in the box. The PH levels are so perfect its almost drinkable. My 2 kids had a great time. My 20-something friends had a great time. In the adult pool there sit 2 contraptions my middle-class eyes have never seen in a pool: A quasi-zipline and a 15 foot rock-climbing wall. Great fun for ages 6 - 66. In total there are 4 pools, plenty of room to relax and spread out without swimming into other guests urine. The lifeguards prove helpful and lax, and even helped me acquire towels for my party of 8. The abundance of shaded canopies and umbrellas protected my white skin from getting burned by that well-meaning ball of fire & gas that lives nearby. Upon exiting the April Sound Country Club, I thank my gracious host who listed his property on Airbnb and allowed my friends and I to experience what its like to live here. I leave the fantasy realm of well-kept pools, rolling hills and guarded gates, and return back to whence I came, to the land far beyond, whose territory is marked by the Great Statue of the North. I return with a longing in my heart, a longing to hear the Sound of April once again...to sit in the water that smells like new shoes...to cloak myself in sweet-smelling commercially washed towels. Alas I shall not return, not in this life. As I reflect on my time, I realize that the same fiery ball of gas shines down on the land of enchantment as well as my own land. And in this, as long as I remain on this temporary planet, I shall always possess the faintest of echos of April Sound.
