I was truly looking forward to attending a show this weekend at Upstage. The event had a few changes and I was notified about the changes. I was a little disappointed because I really wanted to see this particular comedian. However, I love how Upstage represented themselves. I am well pleased to see a business with such integrity and quick correction. Communication with Bobby was great!! He helped me out with no hesitation just as he said he would. I am truly impressed and definitely recommend all to visit. I am very pleased with how they addressed my concerns, the level of professionalism, and being so quick to ensure thing were addressed speaks volumes. I definitely plan to attend many more events. Thanks Bobby for your professionalism, help and time!!!

I want to first and foremost thank Omar for giving me so much help with my open mic material, and the hostess for answering my newbie questions. Ive done a lot of karaoke and theater but this is a different beast. First: everyone who does open mic here is smart in that socially perceptive, the teacher didnt recognize their potential sort of way. Shoutouts to Josh and every other J-named guy. I want to specifically thank Omar, who isnt staff here but practically should be. He gave me feedback better than a professor would give. I sucked at integrating it, but still have it and will still study it. Thats the thing about standup: your material can be awesome, your delivery can be awesome, but its still work. Even if you have stage presence, prior theater experience, or just have hilarious material, comedy is still a craft. This is a great place to learn if you have The Stuff for comedy and want to go all-in. Its a big decision. Having comics give you constructive criticism tells you how far are from mastery. (Theyre also really nice people.) Last, its driveable if you live on the east side or NE side. I know this isnt a big deal for a lot of people, but for a lot of us that Rivercenter drive is excruciating. Having a place like this you can reach without a highway is a huge benefit. Thanks again to everyone I met. I learned a lot.

Waitresses were great. Performance was great. The two stars are for the sound guy. I felt do bad for the Performer because he kept looking at the sound guy to play the music and sound effects. The sound guy was off talking and did a terrible job.

The show was great! But the venue was not in the greatest area of town. There was a two drink minium.. drinks were expensive and small. I ordered tacos, they brought me nachos that were 4-5 dollars more, when I told the owner who was waitressing, she took them back and returned stating that they were out of tacos.. Overall, had a good time, but the venue was a little sketchy.

I love this club!! I probably come out to 4-5 shows a month! They have hilarious comics that keep the crowd rolling ! They also have other events like Jazz and Comedy or Improv and a number of other shows which is different from any other comedy club. I just saw a sign about a yearlong membership pass that gets you and guest in to the shows. Definitely getting that ! Also saw that it is Black Owned and Vet Owned! Love it

We went last week. All good, except the staff doesnt do anything about guests that are heckling or talking throughout the show. The comedian was doing his best to continue, but it got so distracting that he finally stopped to address the noisy table. They ruined the show. We heard other guests complaining about the same thing on their way out. The noisy table had loud conversations as the comedian was performing his skit. When they finally stopped talking to each other... they loudly kept interfering with the show.

This is one of my new favorite clubs! The restrooms were immaculate. The staff were friendly and attentive. The seating isnt too cramped. Most importantly: the comedians were hilarious! I look forward to coming back.

The surrounding buildings of the establishment give me warnings of what did I get myself into. However, my car was safe. The building was nice, despite its surroundings. The bathrooms were clean and gender neutral. The staff answered my parties questions and I didnt get sick. (Food allergies, this is always a concern) My party and l laughed and enjoyed ourselves. Its veteran owned and they seem to be involved in the community. We are planning to attend another event here.

I went to see Rudy Francisco do poetry/spoken word. Ive never been to Upstage before. It was an easy to find, small, but cute space. Staff was friendly and attentive. I didnt get food, so I cant rate that. The two drinks I got were fine. Id visit again if someone I wanted to see was booked for a show there.

My daughter invited me to her stand up comedy show. She doesnt like to extend invites because I never go, she performs during the week. I tell her, I get up at 5a to be at work by 6a. Great night at Upstage Comedy Lounge!! It was our first time here as a family to see Mal Hall and we enjoyed ourselves so much ! The atmosphere was very nice. It was intimate but spacious, nice aesthetic with the tables and couches lining the back wall, almost looked like a little VIP section the way the steps led up. The lounge has a perfect set up with the stage. Anywhere you sat in the room was a good view of the stage, no barriers or weird pillars. Very open concept and I personally enjoyed the set up of this lounge more than LOL comedy club. Staff was very very friendly, service was good (we ordered drinks and an app and it came out in a timely manner). I appreciate local businesses and definitely plan on returning! Great experience!

I was really pleasantly surprised when I walked in. Kind of felt like a hidden gem. The layout of the place was very inviting and attractive. The bar and bathrooms are easily accessible and I never feel like Im in a space where danger is lurking, like I do as a female in some places. There doesnt seem to be a bad seat in the house. Staff was friendly and I had a good time getting my mind off of things. Theres plenty of parking for free but parking is arranged kind of weird. Even though it is a comedy lounge they have many other types of events.

Super Cozy and Fun! Came for a 7:30 Saturday Show: Service was quick, cocktails were a little fruit punchy tasting (but really strong), and the comedy ranged from a mostly wholesome teacher, to a wildly uncomfortable (and hilariously funny) middle aged divorced man. The Headliner was a comedian from Houston, who had performed on Americas Got Talent. There were new couples on first dates, as well as long-term married couples, AND single people: The spotlight was equally placed on everyone, so definitely show up regardless of relationship status.

One of my daughters and I went tonight and had a great time! The venue runs smoothly- from the hostess seating us, to the table service and even the food (smashburger) was amazing. They actively solicited feedback verbally and through easily accessed coment cards. To top it off, the acts were amazing. We belly- laughed for a full 90 minutes!

Visited on a Tuesday, tickets were about $15 each but with fees about $20. There s also a $20 minimum per person inside so just keep that in mind. No complaints still less expensive than other venues and definitely happy to support the venue and staff. The comics seemed a little novice but still entertaining. The place was clean, well staffed, and secure. Would definitely consider going again, and if you haven t been go ahead and give them a visit. Great idea for a date night.

Veteran owned comedy club with promising talent, military appreciation night and open mic night! I went and saw an all-women comedy show. The ladies were hilarious! I will definitely be returning to Upstage Comedy Club for more laughs! The club serves drinks and delicious eats. Great place for date night or for singles to go and have a night of fun. The place is tucked in a shopping center off Walzem and 410. An up and coming club in San Antonio!

I absolutely Love attending the comedy shows here. This facility is clean and the owners are great people. This small business brings powerhouse comics and local talents to the stage as well. There is a bar and plenty of seating. You can go alone, take a date, or bring a group of friends. Guaranteed to have a great time.

The host is awesome! The goal of fusing Comedy with an actual Spelling Bee is a great idea, I think. I enjoyed myself. There were good food, drinks and vendors with amazing products. I look forward to attending more shows and events.

The comics are boring, they bring in rookie comics from the surrounding area, every now and then they will bring in a a old comic that tells old jokes from the past, the place is in a ghetto area, not much room to Park, dont waste your time

Nice comedy club. I would recommend them. We had a great evening. We had VIP tickets. I felt like there was no reason we should have paid the extra for the VIP seats. The VIP seats were benches at the back of the room and were very uncomfortable . There was no dedicated waitstaff for VIP. I would have thought the VIP seating would have been closer to the stage and something more than a bench with a small table. I felt like they missed an opportunity to sale more food and beverage by not treating the VIP area any different than the standard seating. My recommendation would be to buy regular seating and not waste your money on VIP. Other than that the Comics were wonderful and it was a good time.If I felt more like a VIP I would have given them 5 Stars.

Upstage Comedy Lounge was worth the drive from Austin to San Antonio. I needed the laughter, and the comedians delivered. The menu for the evening was soul food, and it was food for my soul. The chicken, yams, Mac n cheese, and greens were delicious and seasoned to perfection. Last but not least, the hospitality was top rated. Our waitress and the owner were very attentive to ensure we had a 5 star experience! Check them out. You wont be disappointed

Extremely funny comics! Stage was a little small but perfect for this mid-size venue. Drinks and food were reasonably priced and the loaded nachos were delicious! Great place for date night. Seated up front and didnt have to get picked on much. Lol!!!
