Update 9/2024: The quality has gone down significantly. The pita bread used for the shawarma was extremely dry and cold immediately after ordering. I grabbed a mango lassi and the owner took it away to prioritize for a doordash order even though I was physically there. Poor customer service I will not longer be going here. Pretty good shawarma at $5. The location is a little hard to spot at night, not a well lit area. The owner is a little weird... Take out only.

I walked in and quickly discovered this is a takeout only establishment. I ordered a Chicken Shawarma. I asked to make it spicy, and the cashier nodded ok. When I received my order, I was told cash no tax. With using my card, there was a 0.49 charge. The Shawarma was under seasoned and not spicy, so disappointing.

Grand Indian Kitchen in Missouri City, TX, is an absolute gem that weve been ordering from for years. Our go-to dishes are the Chicken 65, Chicken Tikka Masala, and the Mutton Curry, which is a must-get. The Garlic Naan is delicious, and we love the Mango Lassi. We also recently tried the Chicken Shawarma, and it did not disappoint. Although this is not a dine-in restaurant, they get the food ready for pick-up very fast. The family that owns this place is so nice and welcoming. Make sure to call ahead because sometimes they go on vacation, and the hours may not reflect it online. If youre in the area, you must try this place out. Highly recommended!

Now serving dry bland swarmas!?! What happened?! Normally there is some garlic sauce incorporated but not with my last two orders. Also, there are normally some jalapenos peppers. Tell me who regularly orders bland Indian food? Neither jalapenos nor any garlic sauce were in my favorite swarmas the past few orders. Who is damaging you exceptional reputation? Tell them to get with the program. Wake up! Im will not be ordering regularly anymore. I will try again, maybe in a few months, but not several times a week until they fix this. This is incredibly disappointing. I use to eagerly look forward to the food here. Previously, it was beyond ALL reproach.. SADLY, Not any longer .

Update Jan 2024: I love their butter chicken. Great mix of spices. I would call the spice level medium, while butter chicken is normally one of the milder Indian dishes. Prices have definitely gone up in the past two or three years, but still reasonable and portions are very generous. I can usually make two or three meals out of one order. Great first visit! I tried the fish Molee and it was very tasty. Just the right amount of spice. They threw in what looked to be fried rice and some kind of yogurt sauce for no extra charge, which I thought was generous. Price was reasonable for the size of meal. Only complaint was a few bones in one of the pieces of fish. I m sure I will be coming back to try other dishes on their menu. You do have to look for it. It s directly off Highway 6 in a small shopping center between the Best Indian Grocery and a Public Storage.

Ordered egg curry and chicken Tikka. First we tried the egg curry but found it near inedible. It was ridiculously bitter and the curry had no flavor. The chicken Tikka was very bland and had little to no flavor. Ended up getting food poisoning after the meal to top it off. Its unfortunate since I remember this place having decent dishes back in the day but its astonishing how far down the quality has dropped. Cant recommend anyone to try it.

The food was excellent! Customer service was HORRIBLE! I placed two separate orders for two households. I asked that they not place the rice in the same container (something I knew they were customary of doing). However, they did anyway, and the younger male employee told me I can separate myself when I got home. Thankfully, I did not prepay, and I told them just to keep my order. BEST Indian food ANYWHERE around! I drive nearly an hour and pass 5-6 other indian cuisine places (Ive tried them all) just to come here. Owner is super friendly and helpful, I really dont understand those negative reviews. My guess is those people are just rude themselves and wouldnt be happy anywhere they went. Im very picky where I choose to eat and both the quality and quantity exceeds expectations every time. Do yourself the favor and try it out, im sure youll be glad you did.

My review is based on Takeaway order. Palappam was over fermented. Chicken Fry: Mostly I see only bones. Also no idea why they added food color. Not recommended. Chicken Stew: This was terrible. Looks like they just added some chicken pieces to some vegetable gravy which is prepared earlier. No taste no flavor. I would not recommend this dish.

I have been ordering from this place since October 2020. I love it! The food is amazing! There is always extra food already prepared in case you want to try something different. Yesterday I decided to try the fried rice. I asked and he said it was egg fried rice, and my goodness it was so incredible delicious. But the naan is my vice! It s so warm, buttery, and delicious. The owner is also such an amazing individual, one time I forgot my card and he told me not to worry about it and pay him later. WOW, just wow.. I brought the money later that night. I hunt for good indian food any time Im in a part of town for the first time, got lunch from here and I have to say its 10/10 which isnt something I give often. Asked for spicy goat curry w/ rice and garlic naan. The curry was a perfect level of spicy, everything was steamy hot and fresh, the naan was thick, soft, and so hot I had to let it cool to eat. He included a sour cream (or yogurt?} and cilantro sauce of some kind that Ive never had before, I have to ask what it is next time cause it was really good. Guy was friendly and fast, price is a bit high but the portion size justifies it. only complaint anyone could have is it looks like theres no dine-in even without covid, just a small cube of space w/ a register when you walk in, but I always do takeout anyway. New favorite, any time Im on the south side of town Ill be coming here.

Very very rude behavior from the owner himself Mr. Anish Varghese. I Wish there was zero rating for your review. Today, I wanted to pick up my order at 6.30 pm so he asked me to call back at 5.30. I just asked him if I have to repeat my order again upon which he spoke very rudely with me and said Is it a big deal to call again? Basically, he is spoiling the name of India. I would have rated this restaurant 3.5 before. I called them and asked them if they can bring the food to my car as they had in the past. The man asked, Why! I informed him it was due to the pandemic. He said, No need to come if you are scared! He then hung up. I was shocked as I have been there many times and they were friendly and have a few good dishes. My wife has severe respiratory illness so I take precautions. They should rename the restaurant Fearless Indian Kitchen. I dont know if they allow masks. If you are afraid of the pandemic, you may not be welcome. I called twice to confirm my order, they still got it wrong. Were dismissive of me when i mentioned it. By far the best Chicken Biryani you will get in Sugarland and Missouri City, and the second best after Biryani Pot when compared to the Greater Houston area. Authentic, very tasty, quick service and reasonable price. It is hard to beat that. Take out or catering only, no dine in seating. Ordered Chicken Masala, Rice, Garlic bread and it was delicious, cooked perfectly, and didn t take long to prepare.

I have had food from here several times. The Appam and chicken curry is the best dish they have here. The reason for the one star is is because Anish the owner cant be trusted on his word. Had placed an order and when I went to pick it up, he said that he didnt have my order. This was for a Christmas party on Christmas day. Luckily I had ordered some back-up food. So if you are planning on having a party, please dont entrust Anish to deliver. Have a backup plan or might have to face embarrassment in front of your guests.

My friend used to work here not too long ago, he let me know the kitchen is full of roaches and they don t clean very well. The food is microvawed at times. Not very good

I am really impressed with this small takeout place. They always have great food and orders only take 15-30 minutes. So far I have had fish curry, Kadai chicken, chicken Tikka Masala, and chicken biryani. They are all very good.

If you have a nut allergy DO NOT EAT HERE We placed an order and asked the owner if there was any nuts in any of the items that we ordered and explained that my girlfriend was allergic to all types of nuts. The owner assured us that there were no nuts in anything we ordered, however my girlfriend immediately had a reaction once she started to eat the food. When we called the owner back and he then informed us that there was cashew nuts in the butter chicken. Once again if you have any nut allergies DO NOT EAT HERE

Went here because of the the good ratings Its sad to say getting good Indian food in Houston is actually a myth(indian here) Well atleast the shaverma was decent.. rest was plain bad.

One of a kind! Its a pure takeout place, but buzzling with activity. I can say the Beef Ullarthu and Mutton Masala were the best I have had in Houston. Everything tastes as if homemade. Nostalgia alert!!! The porotas are really good and are sold in multiples of five. They remain soft and very edible even if you need to reheat them again for a later serving. The kappa biriyani is different and didnt quite match our taste, but nothing wrong with it, might just match yours. Definitely worth a visit.

The only thing I have ordered so far is mutton curry and porotta,its been so good that I have been going back for it! Have been to several Kerala restaurants but this mutton curry stood apart for its taste! The porotta s were really soft !
