believe the low reviews. overpriced and argumentative if you question pricing. wondering why a shop owner would get defensive about his own pricing tells the tale of this shop.

There was some cool sealed games if you have that much money to drop but the rest of the retro games in this small corner of an antique shop were nothing special.

A hidden jewel in the back of an antique shop. Even as far as retro game shops go, this ones got some rare finds and really good stuff. Prices are fair and close to eBay. ...is what I said when I reviewed this place pre-COVID. Over the last couple of years, it seems the owner has lost his mind. There is a LOT of cool stuff in stock and hes got just about every Holy Grail retro game you can think of, which is cool too see, but the prices are insulting. Youd do better just to stick to eBay.

Tldr; A good selection of games priced at scalpers prices. A hipsters paradise is a fairly nice little collection of games in the back of an old antique shop. The staff for the antique shop themselves are little old ladies that are exceptionally nice. The selection of normal and slightly rare games across platforms (Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox, etc) covers a wide set of generations from SNES to current gen. The big distinction, and why Ive rated the booth so low, is that most of the rare games are 3 to 4 times market price even at pandemic pricing. Extremely high market games such as Rule of Rose ($1500), Clayfighter ($2000), Cubivore ($900), are much much higher than they should be. This feels more like a personal collection with no intent to sell.

So. A Hipsters Paradise, from what I saw, is just a very small back corner of the antique shop in downtown Carrollton. The antique part is cool but the retro games section was not anything special. I was really excited for it but there just wasnt much there.

This is a really charming little antiques store, with a surprisingly excellent retro games section. The prices were all fair, and they had stuff there I havent seen anywhere else. The service was also great, and I never felt overly pressured to buy anything. Ill definitely be coming back once I have some more cash to burn.

We ordered a video arcade from them on amazon. We cancelled it less than 24 hours after purchasing it because we found it for half the price on every other website. This company held back $128 of our money and wrote to me that it s bc of a restocking fee and shipping charge. Amazon said they can t do that but we are still waiting on a refund. BUYER BEWARE

I ve been meaning to restart my GameCube collection and either couldn t find childhood games at a good affordable price. I found melee around the same price as you would find in eBay but finding other games at an affordable price in racks just how you would find at GameStop a decade ago is amazing, not to mention how incredibly patient the ladies were when I was asking around a million questions. Have and would definitely go again even if it s just to look around what they have.

So I read the other reviews before going and thought I would browse and compare the prices to amazon. The prices were less than half of what amazon charges so whoever said these are overpriced for market value must be buying bootlegs or something. I got Return of the King for PS2 at 1/4 the lowest price on eBay and Skyrim for PS3 at 1/3 of the price on amazon or eBay. I saw another game that I almost bought that was 5 times as much online (I won t mention what it is because I m probably going to go back and get it hahahahaha). They even have suikoden II in great condition for 200 bucks and an acceptable copy online is generally that much. The condition at the store would fetch 500 online. If I was looking to flip video games I would have bought it in a heart beat. They have Dreamcast as well, which might be the most underrated system of all time. And at good a prices too. It s a small section of the antique store and look at the antiques too because they have some great stuff. I m happy I randomly looked up retro game stores this morning.

Hard to find, its in an antique mall but nowhere on here does it mention that. All of the more expensive games are marked up way above market value. Will take my business elsewhere.

This is a booth inside The Finishing Touch Antiques. Even though its one booth, the selection is well curated and the prices are startlingly fair. $30 Super Bomberman 2, $40 Super Bomberman - this is on par with ordering online, no need to haggle over cost, no shipping, and the games are visibly in good condition. There are even N64, Genesis, and SNES games in original boxes for a reasonable price. I was impressed by this shop. The antique mall does take credit/debit, so you will not need cash. Every other booth I looked at was priced reasonably somehow and featured actual antiques - come to check out SNES carts, look at vintage gasoline pumps, buy a Finnish WWII bayonet. Its a cool trip and a surprisingly big shop on the inside.
