My family and I have made this our weekly eat-out spot. The staff is so friendly. The menu is huge and the food is tasty. My husband loves all the burgers and my favorite is probably the aus jus tri-tip sandwich. Most people come here for breakfast but their dinner is just as good!!! P.s. you can eat breakfast all day if you want!! Wheelchair accessibility: Theres a ramp to get inside from the parking lot.

Ive never eaten at a breakfast place where my eggs were swimming in oil. The coffee was a bit bland, the atmosphere seemed a little plain, and the establishment seemed to attract people who are on the undesirable side. On the upside, the menu is large with many options, and items like the chicken sausage were very tasty.

When I first went there they had great pot roast now it has big veggies that isnt fully cooked and barely any meat and when my husband went there to order when he got the food everything was not even warm. Came here for the first time with my daughter for breakfast. Was instantly greeted and seated. Took almost 20 min before a server came to us asking if weve been helped. We placed our order and food came out shortly after. Plates were huge, portions were hearty and tasted yummy. We both had water, which never got refilled, I had a LG oj which was rather small for almost $6! Our server came to check on us and got us what we asked for, but then disappeared for a very long time. By the point of being away for at least 30 we decided to just take the rest of the food home (I wanted to ask for more water and syrup) she gave us the to go boxes we asked for with our tickets and never came back. For the food, we would come back for, hopefully the service will be better next time. * The place wasnt super busy when we came in, only about half occupied, and there were many employees, some just sitting around. Seemed like no one knew we were there.

This a glorified diner. They dont call it that . It is a multi state restaurant. Excellent breakfast menu, everything you would expect a d its served all day / night. All you can eat fish and chips ( very good) every Friday. All you can eat prime rib every Saturday. I would not go to a diner for prime rib, but thats. me. My wife likes the pot roast and meatloaf. Excellent coffee, always. Prices are average, but the portions are very generous. We get the Grizz, a huge breakfast platter that I split with my wife, and there is so much food. Comfort food at its best in a good atmosphere Vegetarian options: Salads, soups, eggs, Tuna melt?

Like a Dennys with a woodsy theme. Lots of food -- insane amounts of food -- at low prices. I dont think its very high quality food, though. Worst restaurant pancakes Ive ever had: they had a nasty chemically, licorice-y aftertaste. My husbands sandwich was OK, but not good enough to come back for. But, if you order right, you can feed a family for not too much dough.

Tuesday August 20 was my first time to eat in a Black Bear Diner. It will also be my last time to eat in a Black Bear Diner. The service and ambiance were both OK. The portions were more than ample. In fact, they were humongous. I had one of their breakfast omelets. Regrettably, the appeal of the food was a notch or two below mediocre. I would have preferred smaller portions of food that I would actually WANT to eat instead of a mountain of food that bored me after the second fork full and for which I could not come up with any reason to indulge in a third fork full. More than half of the food served to me was still on my plate when I left (and I am a big fellow, not one of those malnourished vegetarians of indeterminate gender like those that litter the West Coast). My parents taught me to always go out of my way to find something nice to say. So, here it is: The high points of my dining experience at the Black Bear Diner were the free ketchup and the free parking.

Updated review.... We gave them another chance and I have to say they did a complete 100% turnaround. The service was awesome. We went went for a early dinner .We were seated right away. Our drink order was taken within the first minute we were seated and they were back to take our order. A few minutes later the food came out warm and tasty comfort food. I had the hot open face turkey and my husband had the worlds biggest hamburger Ive ever seen. We will be back.

The positive reviews for this location confuse me. I can t lie, the experience my friends and I had was horrible. The restaurant was completely empty when we walked in. We were sat right away. Our waiter took our drinks order and then he disappeared for nearly thirty minutes. In that time, the host came to our table and asked us weird questions, very clearly flirting with one of my friends and making her uncomfortable. All we wanted was to finally get our drinks and order our food. We asked the host three times about it, where our waiter was etc. We eventually got our food and it was okay, but it made all four of us sick later. Never coming here again.

Friendly atmosphere off exit 7 in Mesquite. Wonderful selection for brunch ! Biggest fluffiest biscuits I ve ever seen! Mmmm excellent! Reasonable prices and we had to get take out because the portion size is VERY generous! A must if you re in Texas! Parking: More parking in rear of restaurant. So my brother-in-law had a lot of good things to say about this place, and we happened to stop by today to give it a try. We came from Richardson, and we were so disappointed. The service was horrible. The restaurant seemed short-staffed, so they took a while to get our order, and then about 10 mins to get our drinks. 30 mins later we got our food and we were not impressed. No one came to ask if we needed refills or to even give us our check, we had to go find our waiter to get a to-go box and the check. We will not be coming back anytime soon.

1st time here, came on a Saturday at 4:00pm. Not busy at all, but to be expected, since it was definitely an early dinner. Food was OK..typical diner food. Service was lacking but really no fault to our server as they were pretty much the only one serving the tables, while I watched 3 servers AND a manager sitting on their butts cutting up. You know your server is frustrated from not getting help when theyre yelling at other servers across the room to wait on another table. So on to the food. Ordered the NY steak dinner, the eggs benny and chicken fried steak dinner. Apparently, they were out of a lot of their sides...no soup so you could only get a side salad (house only) and you only get 1 type of dressing...which is ranch (i wasnt asked what type of dressing we wanted so ranch it was). . However, I was stumped on why there were chunkies in the ranch. Im guessing there was bacon..maybe some cheese...onion..and I believe I found a piece of purple cabbage in one of the containers. So I figured it was a loaded bacon ranch dressing or something..it tasted good.. and the salad was quite large for a side & was nice & cold. Was a good salad. Seasonal veggies were only corn on the cob this evening, so green beans it was..those were pretty good too. Upon arrival of the steaks...they actually looked pretty good... but upon cutting into them, they were clearly cooked from frozen, inside was a little mealy. Not a huge deal..but basic seasoning..like salt only..At least put pepper & garlic powder on them. Not grilled, griddle seared. Steaks were just ok. The Benny came out and it was sad to see the hollandaise sauce was broken, so it looked curdled. I didnt taste it, but my guest said flavor wise was good, nothing to write home about. Came with your choice of potatos and they chose the home style potatoes which were delish...but needed salt. Speaking of potatoes, one steak entree came with their hashbrowns and those looked darn good too, not your basic breakfast hashbrowns. Onto my entree, I decided to get the chicken fried steak because some reviews said it was the best theyve ever had. Well...it wasnt homemade..Definitely premade- frozen and it literally tasted like Dairy Queens steak fingers...like to a T, or the frozen chicken fried steak patties you can get from Sams Club. Thats not a bad thing, but not what I was expecting for the price. Their biscuits were some of the biggest Ive ever seen! And if you get them with your entree, you can smother them in sausage gravy, & thats only a buck extra.. Bacon was flimsy & greasy, but thicker cut...I should have told them to cook crispy. One thing I loved was their freaking iced cold brew! Coffee is delicious..and im sure because it was freshly brewed. They have a mocha and another flavor..but its not needed at all..plain black is delicious without additions. I think if I come back, it will be for breakfast options, even though the pot roast sounds good. But to you mister manager, sitting on your behind while your server was struggling...Shame on you! Hearty home cooked meals for reasonable fare. Good portion sizes, hot, and timely stopped in during an assignment to work and grab a bite - they sat me in a quiet corner, were attentive but not annoyingly so so I could work. The French toast was good. Not sure how they accomplished fluffy & dense, but it was perfect. A little chilly so my scrambled eggs chilled pretty quickly, but that s on me - working and munching at the same time. (More work than munch) The staff were friendly & personable. The restaurant is roomy & clean. It feels like a cabin vacation with the family - minus the family. Passed another location the other day & actually said dang under my breath because I d stopped somewhere close and didn t see this option until after I d already eaten. Next time big bear next time. Parking: This Mesquite location is near multiple restaurants and not too far from Town East Mall & a large gym but parking is conveniently next to entrance and free.

I stopped in today for a late breakfast. Food could have been better. I was disappointed in the Cinnamon French Toast plating. It was brought out and looked and tasted like cinnamon rolls sliced and put on my plate with tons of cinnamon dropped on the middle of these without powdered sugar. Our waitress, Montzé, was so nice about it. I was not charged for it. I pointed out the pictures on the reviews versus what I got. She seemed sad, and I felt horrible afterward. I told her it was not her fault. Besides the food, her service was great. I will be back and will give them a second try.

Bad, bad, bad organization. The hostess seated us, then 10 minutes later she asked if anybody had attended us. We said no, so we ordered coffee and water from her. 20 minutes later no one came to take our order, my friend had to stand up and ask for help. A server came by finally took our order. When our food arrived, she did not notice that we needed silverware and napkins so she said omg they are fired (I guess she meant to say her coworkers). Also, when I went to wash my hands, almost all of the servers were talking to each other, one of the on the phone, others just hanging out. I hope they take action because business could go down hill if they keep on ignoring people. Oh, and on top of everything they never came with our check so we had to stand up to pay at the register. When looking back at the restaurant almost all the crew again were talking to each other and just hanging out as if they were at their house. I guess we sometimes need to take it easy from work, however they were over relaxed.

Great service and really admirable business ethics. The servings are enormous, and everyone loved their food. My son said it was the best burger he d ever had. I got breakfast food. The bacon was thick and really high quality. The cream pancakes tasted like rich vanilla cake. Two pancakes are as big as three anywhere else. They have dinner and lunch options, too. Our waitress was very sweet. I d definitely go back. And my nut-allergic child could eat there, too! Dietary restrictions: Safe for nut-allergic people. Just talk to your server. I checked out this place yesterday around lunch and ordered the grizz which came with 2 sweet creme pancakes, 2 sausage links, 2 pieces of bacon, a slice of ham, and eggs made however you want them. Its a very large plate of food but it was amazing. Today I ate the chessburger basket and it was also amazing. Well, I had a hard time deciding what to rate this restaurant!! The first time I visited, it was nice outside and the inside was impressive. We were five adults and two kids. I ordered chicken fried steak(a larger portion), eggs and country fries. Chicken fried steak the breading was too thick and the meat inside was not tender. The server had too many tables,, we didnt get good service. After the first cup of coffee we had to wait a long time for our waitress to refill. No sign of her, I finally had to ask a different waitress for our coffee refills. The food portion was good and at a competitive price.

Ive been trying to find the perfect chicken fried steak for months now. This was it! Unbelievable portions for the price and the food was some of the best quality for a diner Ive ever had. It ran us around $60 for a family of 3, and we got extra stuff, so the prices were good. IHOP is terrible, we all know this, but with places like this, it amazes me they even have the ability to exist at all. I cant believe I slept on this place, Im stoked to come back in the future.

We have passed this place many times and wondered exactly what it was like inside. What a great choice to finally go inside. Although they had run out of many of the menu items, what was there to select from was great. The prices are moderate and the meals that we ordered were plentiful. The added bonus is that they offer a military discount if you inquire. We will definitely be returning.

Let me start by saying we were super excited to try out this place. It was our first time coming and we ve heard really great things. We came in Sunday around 4:30 PM. Our waitress came took our drink order, and after our food order. Food came out in a decent amount of time. She dropped everything off and didn t even ask us if there was anything else needed. A little time goes by and we re wondering where our side of French toast that we ordered for everyone to share was. After quite some time we were able to flag down another waiter and ask him if he was able to check on that remaining plate. Comes out probably 15 minutes later with the French toast and said sorry about that and ask if we need anything else all our drinks are empty And leaves. We left our self enough time to eat before we had to go to a movie so again waiting for her while she congregates with a couple other employees in the back corner by the restrooms. The manager was there. So it might ve been a pre-shift however we continue to sit there. She never once checked up on her table, so however, everything was or if anything else was needed. So then again, we have to go up to the front to ask somebody if we can get some boxes and the check, the worst service that we had. I try not to be too judge as I worked as a waitress as well as my kids father whose been in the service industry for over 30 years, but there was no care and wouldn t recommend coming back. The food was definitely bland.

It feels like Twin Peaks (the show, not the restaurant) everytime I walk in. Better breakfast options than IHOP and Dennys for sure. 100% worth a try for anyone. Recommend: California Eggs Benedict Avoid: Reuben (by the time it gets to you, the bottom bread slice is soaked and soggy)

This is by far the worst meal I have had at a DFW area restaurant in a long time. They did not have ice tea to drink. They did not have Tri-Tip listed on the menu. I ordered the ribs instead and they were so undercooked, I had to cut them with a knife and were covered in cheap barbecue sauce. Totally disgusting! Very disappointing!

Well I do have gluten-free bread, my wife was inadvertently provided with wheat bread which did cause her to have a medical reaction, but thankfully she did not consume the entire piece of toast, so it was minimal thankfully. Otherwise the food is amazing, the biscuits are as big as a mans fist or bigger, flavor is pretty good. I would like to see homemade hand dipped chicken fried steaks as opposed to large processed chicken fried steaks. Dietary restrictions: Particular care needs to be maintained when it comes to their gluten-free bread and cross-contamination or confusing breads with gluten-free products.

When we first got there , we wasn t properly greeted. They just walked up to the hostess stand and looked at me. No how may I help you? Or anything. Then we get to our table and not even 10 minutes later, water from the ceiling literally came pouring down all over the table , the kids & babies , cell phones etc. Some of staff was apologetic but majority acted as if it was the funniest thing they ve ever seen in their life. Very unprofessional. The blackened salmon was not blackened at all . It was undercooked and I became sick as a dog after eating it & the hashbrowns were damn near burnt.

I got the Fried Steak Omelette, cheese grits, biscuits with gravy and the Huckleberry Lemonade to drink. My biscuit was hard on top and impossible to eat. I sat at the bar and the server was pretty, attentive and polite. The food was great and the fried steak was juicy and well seasoned! Lemonade was great till the last slurp, it was my first time but not my last! Thank you for the great food and service!

My husband and I ate at Black Bear for the first time today. Our server was Christi and she was amazing! We both got the Denver omelet and it was extremely good. You can ask them for preferences and they are happy to oblige. It was so much food that we couldn t possibly finish it. If the food wasn t good here, which it was, I d have to give it 5 stars just from our server, Christi, alone. She went out of her way, over and beyond, from what we ve seen anywhere. I would highly recommend it and also asking for Christi. She couldn t have been a nicer server.

So I have been hearing about this restaurant lately and was told the food was good. Well let me say the ribs looked like that were McDonalds ribblets, but it was tender not a bad flavor, nothing hot sauce or a little salt and pepper couldnt fix. The green beans with bacon salty everyone at my table didnt eat theres. Server asked anything else she could give us after we were finished eating. The ribs was cold but my 3 shrimp was good. I will not be back, the people next to us food was not cooked and food was cold. No one was in the place, maybe 5-6 people. I paid a full bill and left tip. Horrible service manager never asked us anything.. fat girl out..update I emailed them as requested and nothing happened. Seems like Noone cares.. definitely will never return but I dont see them staying in business long at this location with service like this.

Well the food was awesome. My waitress was okay she only checked on my table once and she forgot to bring some things out with my food. The waiters was in there talking and laughing really loud instead of cleaning the dirty dishes off the tables or cleaning their dirty bathroom. OMG their restroom was just filthy and stinky. I just washed my hands and came up out of there. But over all the food was great. If I go back I hope it be better than the first.

What an amazing experience!!!! I don t dine in much. This was my first experience at Black Bear in Mesquite. Terrell is the best. He was so patient with me. He helped me with selecting the perfect order. He saw the level of support I needed and kindly adjusted to help me. He sat down with me to discuss option. He should train all wait staff. I would send any and everyone to Black Bear to experience the exceptional service. Whoever was cooking today around 12:00 today cooked my food perfectly. The eggs were so good I thought cheese was on them nope. Just perfectly cooked scrambled eggs. I will NEVER forget this experience. And I will reference Mr. Terrell excellence when I teach or train Meeting people where they are . Thanks Terrell for an awesome experience. Keep that same standard and you will be number 1 in anything you choose to do.

I dined at Black Bear Restaurant march 4, 2024 and unfortunately had a less than satisfactory experience with our initial waitress, Katlyn. Upon arrival, Katlyn s service was notably lacking in attentiveness. She didn t introduce herself, brought drinks one at a time without allowing us to request anything else, and seemed disinterested in providing a pleasant dining experience. As we waited for our food, I observed Katlyn coughing into her hand and wiping her nose without washing or sanitizing afterward. Concerned about hygiene, I politely asked her for some cornbread and requested she wash her hands, to which she responded curtly. Furthermore, when I approached the manager to express my concerns, Katlyn made it clear she didn t want to serve our table any longer. Thankfully, the manager promptly addressed the situation and assigned Desiree as our new server, who provided excellent service and a much-needed improvement to our experience. Katlyn still brought only me my plate and when asked if she washed her hands she replied yes with hand sanitizer . Oh lord well let s hope that s good enough smh While Desiree s service was commendable, the initial encounter with Katlyn was disappointing and raised concerns about hygiene practices. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously to ensure all guests receive the attentive service and cleanliness they deserve.

Ordered various plates. The food was ok, nothing special. It took a while for the hostess to sit us. The restaurant was a bit dirty. Our waitress was nice, but very slow service. She forgot some items and we had to ask for them. Staff would randomly sit down towards the back, where they couldnt keep an eye on their tables or the front door. We had to ask for our waitress a couple of times. It wasnt busy. There were only 2-3 tables the entire time we were there.
