Ordered the chicken and shrimp with noodles and chicken and steak with fried rice. The food was cooked well. Everything tasted very good. Our chef did a nice funny show. The staff was very friendly. The restaurant was very nice looking and very clean. The seats were very comfortable, which is a major plus. I definitely will be back.

I have never had a bad or mediocre experience here. The staff is really friendly, the food is great, the hibachi chefs are always a good time and will make you laugh. You get to meet fun people sitting with you at hibachi also!

Went out for a small dinner but was met with a sour Alaskan roll and an overcooked, stringy, and overpriced teriyaki chicken breast. We had high hopes for the place because of the high reviews but overall the experience was ultimately a disappointment. Better off looking elsewhere.

The wife and I stopped in for dinner last night and the sushi was extremely fresh and delicious! We tried several things, but my favorite roll was the Kyoto Roll. I will definitely be returning. Takoyaki was dry and needed extra eel sauce. The two signature sushi we ordered barely had meat and had too much breading. I will give the hibachi a try next time, but sushi itself was 3/5. Service was great though. Thanks for being welcoming.

We visit frequently and actually love the food and the atmosphere and until about 15 minutes ago we had been happy. The service is always sub par but what got us today was the fact that since we have been going we explained we are not big eaters do to health issues. They have always obliged and taken care of us (thank you Allen) now the manager there (Angie) was not willing to give the same courtesy and we advised we would go elsewhere. No problems here at Shogun! We have officially given ourselves the ok to not go back. $60 to $200 every two weeks will now be spent elsewhere.

We have been craving for hibachi & this place is a gem we recently discovered. We had the king & queen combo, everything is fresh & delicious! We also order some appetizers and everything comes out promptly! The black dragon roll is by far the best roll I have ever had! Highly recommended! Be careful with the Sashimi. It is not fresh and the butchery is novice. We had scales and cartilage in the thinly sliced sashimi in the chirashi bowl. Typically sashimi is not thin like carpaccio.

First time I went I liked it. Second time I loved it. Now I can say I have tried most of not all of the appetizers, and a variety of their sushi options including the side soup and salad on the lunch menu. My experience each time has been great. Keep doing what youre doing Kyoto Hibachi Sushi and Bar. I recommend eating here because its so good and the variety of options are amazing. The service is also great Ive now tried many of their sushi options and I have never been disappointed. Hands down best sushi in McKinney.

An excellent restaurant to enjoy, what is likely, the best sushi and hibachi you can find in Mckinney. Everything we had, from the salad, miso and other appetizers was very, very good. The sushi rolls we had were also some of the best Ive ever had. The best California roll Ive tasted. Everything tasted fresh and made to order. The serving temperatures were spot on for each dish. Perfect. Staff and service was also excellent, no complaints, other than we had to ask for chopsticks and napkins, but it was handled immediately. Final thought- its a pricier option, for this type of food, but youre definitely getting what you pay for. Excellent value. We will be a repeat customer for sure.

We had hibachi. Food was ok. Salad pieces were huge and hard to eat without utensils. Clear soup was just that - mostly water with a tiny whisper of salt and onion. I usually love these soups but why bother with hot water? Hibachi food was pretty standard nothing bad, nothing stood out as great. I wish there was a place for hibachi without a show. Im really tired of the plastic figure of a little boy who pees on the flaming food. Really not funny anymore. Service was very good.

Ive been wanting to try this place since it was being built. Finally went for my husbands birthday, and it did NOT disappoint! The atmosphere is exactly what you love and adore about a Hibachi place, its dim lit, inviting, and kept very clean. Our chef was amazing, the food was perfection, and the service was exceptional. Mckinney is SO happy to finally have a hibachi place worth bragging about. Kid-friendliness: Even for the pickiest eaters, the kids menu is great. Even offering a filet mignon kids dish! My Uber order was incorrect. I called the store, and talked to multiple people who swore the order was packed correctly. After a manager did research, she found the chef did not actually complete the order as told my two previous people. I simply asked to refund the missing items, and had to repeat the missing items multiple times as they said it was someone elses fault multiple times. Management refused to refund, just the missing items, so I disputed the entire order with my bank.

This place is losing a ton of money. As a medical sales rep, I have large offices that order lunch with me almost every day and I had a big office that wanted lunch from this place. However, the website is not functional or user-friendly. I put my credit card information in and there was no button to hit submit to place the order. Also tried calling all morning to place an order over the phone and it s almost 11 o clock right now and no one is answering the phone. I guess I will place my $400 order somewhere else I need it by noon.

TL;DR Food was good, service was awful, will never go back, can t recommend. To start our party of 8 came for a special night out and made a reservation for 6:45 for a hibachi table. 2 of our party were running later than the rest, but we were told we needed to wait until our entire party was there in order to be seated. That was annoying but understandable, and would be more understandable if we hadn t been going on 15 mins with all but 2 of us there just standing in the entrance waiting. You should be able to seat a group if the majority of them are there, we have enough people to have a hibachi table and we reserved the table. But that s just my opinion. The manager finally came and told us we could go ahead and sit with 7 of the 8 of us were there. As we were sat the smell of gas overwhelmed our group, I felt dizzy, and developed a sharp headache. Others felt nauseous and they had to get the manager to come check the grill, which was just sitting with the gas on. From forgetting to put in one of our ladies food (she has an egg allergy) that was supposed to be cooked separately. To forgetting salads, incorrectly describing dishes, and not communicating to the cook another ladies vegetarian meal, we couldn t get past one issue before the next one popped up. Idk if our server was new or going through something or what but our experience was NOT worth the hype or the bill. I will say our Hibachi chef was great, the best part of the night, he was friendly, fun and communicated well and his food was great. I got vegetable miso ramen- which I was surprised by some creative choices they made that overwhelmed the dish and made it unappetizing but once I took out the asparagus, zucchini and stringy celery it was pretty good. Once we all finally had food, everything was going better. Until we went to pay- we had printed a 10% off coupon from their website, as it instructs to print off and place on the table when ordering, which we did. When we went to pay and the server took the coupons to use she was told by the manager they wouldn t accept them. When we explained they are directly from their website, our server went back to the manager to try again who said he still wouldn t take it and came to talk to us. After talking to him and him explaining it had to be a mailed flyer and us pulling up the website to show him his own website he said he would make an exception this once and take them it was the rudest thing I ve seen a restaurant manager do in a while. It was all of our first and last time trying that restaurant.

We ended up canceling cocktails after 30 minutes of waiting. She didn t bring napkins or chop sticks and would walk off before letting us finish our requests. Came in at 5:05 and was able to get away for 2 right away. By the time we left all the restaurant and hibachi seats were full with a good wait. Food was delicious. Performance fairly standard but fun. I had calamari and filet mignon, dad had steak and scallops. Steamed rice is no charge. I had hibachi noodles. We each had a post-meal beverage which we had to take to bar to finish. I had a glass of wine, dad had gin martini. No tan $109 before tip. Will visit again when I come to visit again in a few months.

First time trying this place. We had dinner. I had the sushi and sashimi combo. The presentation was MAGNIFICENT and the sushi was fresh and tasted fabulous. The only complaint I have is the price for what I got. Definitely NOT worth the price but the presentation of this platter was over the top and a culinary masterpiece. This is what you will be paying for; Presentation so make note of this. I will be back to try their lunch specials as it looked more resonable. If your looking for a place that entertains you with fancy smoke and mirrors and you want or dont mind this, come here. If you are more interested in just great quality hibachi and sushi, try the lunch specials or go somewhere else. I know of two other places you can have the same sushi quality grade, for about HALF the cost. Not saying at all this place is bad. It is very good for dinner and a show but it is also very expensive for dinner. $60, $75, $85 per person was what all our individual bills came out to be.

We finally decided to try this place. Its been open for a bit and always seems busy on most nights. Truthfully, its not on my list of meal options, but the company I was with likes this sort of thing from time to time. Our server was very good. Our drink refills kept showing up without being asked and like magic. She was friendly, upbeat, and good at her job. Our hibachi griller did ok after slamming the metal spatual around very loudly at the start. I know, its what they do. I just dont care for all the banging. Then he seemed to run out of steam about halfway, through. The price for a hibachi meal here is comparable to most hibachi places. I decided to try a different dish and got one of their poke bowls. For the price, compared to a nearby poke place, the dish is very small portioned and disappointing. They even put corn in it, which is odd. And something for the restaurant to consider ... dont scrape off a dropped, broken, raw egg off of the table, where people have been eating, with the spatula you are cooking with. Then drop the raw egg on the grill, then continue to scrape it off with, again, your cooking spatula and continue cooking with the same said spatula. All of this after you have already asked our table server to clean it up, and waiting for her to get clean supplies to do so. While waiting for our meal to start (some 15 minutes), I watched how several tables next to us are cleaned. So no, you shld not be scraping raw egg off the table, then using that same spatula to continue cooking our meal.

I went here Friday night during their happy hour and we were the only African American in the establishment at the time. We ordered sushi and drinks and the waiter disappeared after taking our order and bringing on one of the drinks my table ordered after almost 20 minutes of us being there. We watched every other person who came after us get seated get their food and drinks before us. The sushi and other drinks came out 47 minutes after we had been seated we were never checked on until I said I would like the check because we had been there almost and entire hour without any service and it almost felt kind of discriminatory because ppl who literally came in after us with a different skin tone received all of their meals and drinks while we were still waiting.

I brought my family here for my sons birthday meal. We came at lunch and arrived early so the place wasnt crowded. There were six of us in our party so we got our own hibachi table. The waiter was extremely attentive and personable. The chef was professional and put on a great show for the children. I think what I was most impressed by is how affordable it was during lunch. What a fun date night. We decided to try Kyoto and really enjoyed it. As soon as we walked in the door nothing but smiles. Started with edamame. Then progressed to the lobster fantasy, Las Vegas roll and the mega shrimp. If you haven t tried it . Well maybe you should!

I have been looking for my next Favorite Hibachi Restaurant since my last favorite closed down almost eight years ago. This. Is. It! The food is wonderful! Best Fried Rice I have ever had. Their salmon is divine. Steak and chicken and good as well. Chefs are fun and engaging. Their routine isn t much different than every other hibachi in the are (America?) but still fun to watch. Kids love it, and adults do as well. Always sounds of people enjoying themselves throughout the restaurant. Do yourself a favor and come here! You won t be doing ME any favors, since the wait for a table will grow (make reservations!). But you will be doing yourself one.

I have frequented Kyoto on a number of occasions and it has always been a phenomenal experience however today was a complete 180. I ordered the seafood combo and the chef over cooked my lobster and proceeded to drown my entire meal in teriyaki sauce. I went to the manager as I was sure that this was a mistake and the manager on duty proceeded to tell me that at hibachi restaurants they prepared all of their food that way and I told her that was a lie. I then proceeded to ask if they stated on their menu that teriyaki was part of the meal and she said no and that it was a good suggestion from me for them to add it. I went further and asked her how I was supposed to know as a customer that my meal would be prepared with a sauce that I wouldnt have asked for if it was not on their menu, all she could do was stand there with a nervous smile. I then told her that I was not going to continue to go back and forth with her and asked her how she was going to fix his mistake, after all of that she finally stated that they would comp my meal or make me fresh food. My real suggestion Miss Manager would be for you to never argue with an unhappy customer as a result of your chef s mistakes. Take the managerial role and apologize for your jack up and fix it. Kyoto if you keep her as your manager she is going to cause you more harm than good!!!

Let me start by saying I really enjoyed this place! Definitely try it out. The angel roll was chefs kiss delish! All the sashimi we have gotten has been well cut (we tried some new fish out and they weren t for us but definitely nice quality). The salmon and yellow tail just melt in your mouth! For me personally, the salad dressing they have is too sweet and not enough ginger. I have tried it twice and it s just not for me although it was fresh lettuce and veggies. The booths by the bar are a bit awkward; the music was very loud and did not fit the beautiful atmosphere. The thought that went into the details of the design is seen throughout the restaurant and truly beautiful. We will definitely be coming back. Would not suggest going within 1&1/2 hours of closing time, they start cleaning and the chemicals can be a bit off putting.

Ive been to Koji sushi, Koshi sushi, Umai and Shiawase in McKinney/Allen near here. I was looking forward to Kyoto opening for a long time as its by far the closest to me, but my experience was pretty rough. Unfortunately it tasted and looked exactly like Kroger grocery store sushi but with higher prices you expect from dedicated sushi restaurants. Wasabi was a mostly-dry crumble, sushi rolls were small and came in little plastic trays like grocery stores do. My wife also compared the taste to Kroger sushi though I thought my roll was decent quality. I came on Fathers Day so I expected it to be busy but the poor staff were severely disorganized with some servers literally power-walking or dashing through the crowds. It was also very understaffed, with just one hostess to answer all incoming calls and handle seating/wait times. Definitely felt bad for her as she was just handling too much but it also led to myself and many other customers standing around in the crowded entry way in some makeshift line. Overall, severely underwhelming as much as I wanted to love it, but it just doesnt compare to the other options in the area in taste, value for money or environment.

I was looking forward to the opening of this restaurant. I ve been twice. The first time was okay - nothing special. This time I was seated at a booth because hibachi tables are not opened for one (completely understandable), but the lunch I ordered was sad. I ordered the filet and shrimp again and was disappointed. The shrimp was barely warm and the filet was a 2-3 ounce slice of filet cut into pieces. There was very little food and very little flavor for $18+. I left disappointed and hungry. I went to another restaurant to get a real lunch. I will not go back.

Ill start off by saying my husband and I are from the Monterey/Caramel California area that has nothing but some of the BEST restaurants in the whole state. Since we moved here last year we struggled to find decent restaurants but let me tell you... This restaurant hit it out of the ballpark! The food is FRESH, Workers are attentive and knowledgeable, the ambiance is great however the only thing I would recommend to the owner is the music. It would be great to dine to music that fits the food and the decor that could teleport us out of Texas and into Japan but other than that we are very pleased! We will be back because the food was that impressive among with the presentation!

5 stars for vibe and service 3 stars for food The soup and salad that came with our meal was good. The main entrees unfortunately were disappointing. Teriyaki chicken needs to be marinated and served with more flavorful sauce. The hibachi vegetables and sauces had a weird after taste. But since they just opened, I m willing to come back and order something different to see if there s improvement.
