My father and I stopped by this Burger joint, and we were both pleasantly surprised. My father said it was the Best Burger he had in a very long time. I must concur, the burger I ordered really hit the spot. I will definitely stop by this place again, the next time I m in the area, and I will be sure to bring my wife.

McKinney Square tradition! Great fare for everyone but focus is on a spread of gourmet burgers (beef, lamb, chicken, turkey, tuna...). I usually get ribs or the build your own pasta bowl. Yummy, local and reasonably priced!

The service here has always been mediocre, but the most recent visit will be the last. First, we had a new inexperienced bartender who didnt know any of the beers, and had to lookup on the one I ordered (Rahr Texas Red). It was served in a tiny glass, a six ounce pour at most. I later found out that the price for it was $7. The Texas Red is a local 5% beer that is available throughout the area. Charging $7 for a six ounce pour is just pure greed. I was not asked how I wanted my burger prepared, and it came out very rare. I never send food back, so I just ate it. It was disgusting. I ordered a side of onion rings and was given four tiny ones, how generous. The final indignity for me was the inexperienced bartender rushing us out the door, 45 minutes before their posted closing time. The moment we had finished our food, we were asked to close our tabs (we were still nursing a second round of beers). We were not provided a bill before paying, nor a receipt afterward. I had to demand one, and thats when I saw how overpriced the beers were. No more of this place for me.

Took my family for dinner at 8:40pm and they shutdown the restaurant right with us inside. Bar man was very rude. I asked the waiters why they were close 20 minutes early and she doesn t know what to say . Great burger but terrible service! Manager and owner should know the staff doesn t want to work !

If you are looking for a unique place in downtown Mckinney square burger is the place. They offer much more than burgers as you can see in the menu. They have a grilled cheese appetizer that is out of this world, along with a variety of entrees. As for service, we have had both Nick and Graysen serve us, and believe me they will take care of you, they have the same great attitude every time we walk in there, its a great place, check it out!

My hubby and I came in to try out Square Burger, and let me tell you ,we loved it!!! I had the Smokey Jack Burger with onions rings, and it was cooked just right. My hubby had the Local Wagyu steak dinner and he said it was delicious as well. Our server was Donny, and he was fantastic, from taking our order and answering questions about the menu, to checking to make sure everything was good with our food, and filling our drinks, he was very helpful and polite. We had a great first experience there and Will recommended Square Burger to our family, friends and business associates. We will definitely be back!

I wanted to like this place so much . But all I can say is STAY AWAY! The result was not clean. Service was so slow even with an empty restaurant. It took like 2 hours to get burgers. Food was mediocre at best. Then we got the tab and it was $83 for 2 adult burgers and 3 kids meals? Then I had to go back inside to get the receipt because the server forgot to give it to me. We will not be back. Edit: We got home and both of my daughters threw up pretty sure we got food poisoning.

Unimpressed! The food was ok, tastes good but overpriced for the size of the portions and how basic it is. The biggest turn off to me was that they don t have a changing table for kids in the restroom. Kid-friendliness: No healthy options in the menu and no changing table for little ones.

Summary: Rude and entitled staff ignore patrons in favor of cell phones and behind the bar chit chat. As regular patrons of Square Burger, weve noticed the quality of service dwindling over time, but todays experience has put this restaurant at the bottom of our list permanently. We sat down at a table outside with only three other groups eating in the entire establishment, both inside and out. Despite this, we waited for fifteen minutes before a server finally approached us. After asking if we had been helped (we hadn t), he immediately went inside, grabbed menus, and started seating and serving two other groups instead of us. After five more minutes, we decided to pack up and leave. As we were walking away, a female server approached us with menus and said, I ve got menus for you here. I responded, No thank you, we are leaving. We sat here for twenty minutes and even told him (pointing at the other server) that we hadn t been helped for fifteen minutes, and he s already seated and served two other groups. It s insulting and unprofessional. Her response was, Well we re busy, and she immediately turned around and closed the door in my face without skipping a beat. I opened the door and said, Excuse me? Really? while gesturing to the COMPLETELY EMPTY restaurant with four other employees on their phones behind the bar. You re busy, really? That s your excuse? The restaurant is literally empty. I turned around and left as she continued to make excuses. While the prices at this place are good, the poor service from multiple members of the staff has ruined this establishment for us. Overall, our experience was highly disappointing. We hope the management addresses these issues to improve the service quality for future patrons.

Burgers were good just be prepared to pay extra for fries $3 more for small and $6 for large .. I overheard others complain about the extra charges on the menu .. we sat outside in the patio and was greeted sit wherever you like we sat down thinking we were getting served .. 20 minutes not even exaggerating we waited for menus or even someone to come to us however people who followed us got served immediately with menus and drinks .. we finally got someone s attention and said can we get service their response .. they were on a rotation we responded okay so the others who were sat after us got service ??? No response they said maybe they couldn t see you from inside we sat right in front of the door .. the first time coming will be the last time .. refills took a long time to get .. be prepared to ask for everything all in one time because they don t come back .. to top it off we were dropped off a check with no pen to sign our check .. we had to send in our son to find someone with a pen .. never felt a business who did not want my service so much as I did here .. will never come back ..

This place had so many fun burgers! Cant wait to come back and try more. I just really wish they had a gluten free bun. You can do it as a lettuce wrap but that did fall apart with my burger. Staff said that fries are cooked in separate oil so those are gluten free as well! They dont have a diaper changing station, which was frustrating. We saw two other families with babies there as well. Dietary restrictions: The do a lettuce wrap for the burger and the fries are cooked separate so they remain gluten free

Great place and great location. I love sitting outside when the weather is nice and especially if there is an event going on. The opinion rings are amazing although a bit salty in my opinion. Overall I really enjoy their burgers, they are large and tasty. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They also listen to any food allergies and let the kitchen know.

First time visiting and was not overly impressed. Service was not very attentive, and we had to flag down other servers to get our server for refills and an error with our food that was delivered. That said, the burgers were quite good, though thats all you get, no fries included. Burger was cooked to order and was quite satisfying. It may surprise you to know that my fave item on the Square Burger menu is Lynne s Salmon Salad (only $14). I normally order salmon at restaurants because not only is it healthy but it is my preferred meal. Square Burger s salmon salad is delish AND low carb. But I don t feel deprived because the flavor of the limited dressing and the side dip for the salmon patty, as well as the few praline nut treasures, are the perfect combo. Additionally, I am a bit of a Sauvignon Blanc snob and I proclaim that the Ant Moore served at Square Burger for only $9.50 per glass is thee very best crispy Sauvignon Blanc served at any restaurant near the McKinney Square. Trust me! Try it! I should have taken a photo. I eat here regularly and I will post a photo next time!

We went in for a burger but my oh my!! The menu had so many options that it was hard to choose, but our waiter Muhammad helped us choose. I had the Pork Loin with Yukon mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables. My husband had the pan roasted chicken with Yukon mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables. For a starter we had the grilled cheese bites with tomato soup. Absolutely delicious! Muhammad was the Best!! Our drink glasses never were empty and he checked on us several times.

This place was not busy at all during our visit. Service could have been quicker in getting our drinks to us. Food was absolutely phenomenal and cooked perfectly! Compliments to the cook/chef!!! We were misinformed of the bar not being able to make mixed drinks when ordering so we had an issue with originally being charged a lot more for our order. However, the manager had it fixed and we left pleased, full and quite a bit of food to go. If they have an option to order the fried pickles as an appetizer, I would probably order two. lol. Wholly understaffed. Drinks took forever and were wrong. Food served cold when finally arrived. Beer served in a chipped and cracked glass. If that understaffed then dont open. Fries served cold and then brought back 2 mins later after being dropped back in the fryer. The tomato soup was cold and served without a spoon - and then a dirty spoon brought out - but the cold soup and grilled cheese never came back out anyway. I would recommend eating anywhere else in the McKinney square area.

First, you have to ask for a napkin. Ask for silverware. Get your food and ask for condiments. No salt or pepper on the table or on the food. Ask for drink refills. No intuition from the service. This was a beautiful burger that was extremely bland. Must have had zero seasoning. I couldn t put enough ketchup on it. No Mayo or mustard was served with it. The onion rings are really good. I would ve asked about salt and pepper, etc. but our server didn t come back until much later in the meal. Between the food and the service we won t be back. It s unfortunate when you want that spectacular burger and are disappointed that you didn t just go to a fast food chain. Also, you will have to ask for your check.

Fantastic burgers, fries, and brews! My husband had the BBQ burger amazing BBQ sauce, bacon, cheddar, and fried onion strings. I had the Smoky Jack burger with provolone, bacon, and fried onion strings. Both were excellent. We sat at the bar and enjoyed a few beers they have 30 on tap. At Square Burger, the food was a delight. The fish and chips were wonderfully prepared, and I couldnt recommend their burgers more theyre simply delicious. And those sweet potato fries are masterful. However, our dining experience was somewhat affected by service hiccups. Unfortunately, the chips were forgotten initially, prompting a reminder, and we found ourselves running low on water for long periods during our meal. Moreover, the servers approach to the billing process felt a bit intrusive, with a hovering presence while settling the check on their electronic device. Despite these service-related issues, the flavors and quality of the food were remarkable.

It was good till it wasn t. We started off with the grilled cheese bites with tomato soup and the grilled chicken Mac and cheese. Both of those were 10/10 recommended And then we got our Burgers and I definitely hated the Blue cheese burger, I thought it was going to have bleu cheese on top of the meat but it had this black stuff i forgot what it was called and it tasted like the burnt grease scraping from the grill. I couldn t eat it and I tried different sides of it and I just wasn t having it and then I tried to cover it in Mayo and ketchup and avocado but it was still bad. There was no bleu cheese except that little tiny piece on the plate. The fries and onion rings I give them a 4/5. Or server was nice but we didn t get any napkins, or silverware so it was a let down cause I hate having to ask for it once I got messy. Also in the beginning she got mine and my bfs drink mixed up and I m a diabetic T1 so I ended up taking a drink from Dr Pepper which does a lot to your blood sugar. Not worth the $57

Experience was subpar. No one waited on us, but others were waited on as they sat down. I had to go to the bar twice to ask for someone to wait on us. The bartender was nice the 1st time and rude the 2nd time as he demanded someone nearby waited on us. After we finally got service, it was better. My friends and I came here about a month ago and 30 minutes before closing time, and the staff was visibly annoyed when we arrived. We ordered as soon as we could and got our food 10 minutes before closing time. We started eating and the food was really good! We were super hungry so ate as fast as we could as well. My friend had asked for a drink while we started eating and the waiter came back and slammed the drink on the table. We already felt bad for coming late, and so we tried to scarf our food down as they were winding down for the day. As we were finishing up eating and in the process of paying, they started playing songs like Closing Time , which we laughed it off because we understood they didn t want us to be there. But then, the music got more and more aggressive with Hit the Road Jack and some heavy metal rock song saying to get out. It was extremely unprofessional, and if the staff didn t want our service, they could ve kindly let us know so we could ve gone somewhere else. Moral of the story: Don t come here on a Saturday evening

Went there on a Sunday around noon. Food was very good as usual, our server was horrible. Started off with him admitting to forgetting our drink order, ok it happens. Then our meal came out after two other couples who ordered after us. But the worst part was when I went to pay the check, he provided me the handheld device. I asked to see the receipt first and he said, I had to pay first, including the tip. We got into a discussion about what happened if it was wrong, he said hed void it and start again. A few minutes later he came back for my beer order and we went ahead and placed our food order. My beer sat on the bar for what seemed like forever until he brought it over. The food took a long time to come out. I ordered fish and chips and the fish was very watery but the fries were delicious. When it came time for the bill, he came over and just stood there with the handheld brick thing waiting for a credit card. I did not say anything wondering if he would ever say anything?? I finally asked him if he was waiting for a card. He said oh yes I need a card. My wife was closest to him and handed him her card. I did not ask my wife how much she tipped but I m sure it was the highest option on the suggestion screen. I would have most likely only given 20% . This place is for sure showing it s age. They were busy but the quality is going down. The idea of standing there with the card machine is rude in my opinion. I would be more likely to leave a better tip if the person is not holding the cash register in my face.

This was my first time here. I called in my order. I wouldve given the place 5 stars BUT when I walked into the spot there were FOUR employees at the edge of the bar. I stood there and they looked at me and kept talking, as if to say, F U. We see you but since our customer service is seriously lacking right now were going to ignore you because your business is not important. I even looked at them, leaned on one of the bar chairs and they STILL ignored me. Eye contact and ALL!!! I was going to walk tf out but then the bartender WHO WAS HELPING SOMEONE ELSE ALREADY noticed me and spoke! He helped me out. He made sure I had everything I ordered and even asked did I need anything else. Thank you! Now for the FOOD. That dang burger was soooo good it made me want to slap somebody. That was my first fried pickle. I thought it was a wonky onion ring at first. I know this is extra , but that dang pickle was delicious, Of COURSE Im going back, but If the service is lacking again next rimet Ill never go back. I believe the manager was there too. My mom and I are obsessed with this place! Such a friendly, clean, fun atmosphere no matter what time of day you go. With delicious burgers! Stopped in here real quick while exploring old town McKinney, but glad we did. Not only are there about 3 different draft beers for each kind you may desire, but we also had a grilled cheese with Campbells tomato soup. The sandwich had gruyere and another kind of cheese that I dont remember. It was totally unique and very delicious. This is the coolest place I walked into in old town. I tried to go back, but I never made it. I will return here if I am ever back in this part of Texas.

Good burgers, but not great. With the price, youre paying for the location, which is great on the Square. But if youre looking for a great burger, opt for some place else. The staff is attentive enough, but too hipster to really focus on service. Dietary restrictions: No gluten-free options. This is the only premium burger place I know of that doesnt have a gluten-free option. Parking: Best option is the parking lot behind, but get there early. I was at square burger today with my boss and some partners for a lunch meeting, I ordered a burger made as a salad due to a gluten sensitivity. There was a bunch rotten greens slimy mush, the burger to salad ratio was absolutely insane. The mountain of greens and lack of literally anything else was shocking. It is a bit tricky for visitors to understand that this is a restaurant due to a lack of signage. It also looks closed even when it is open unless it is very busy. The front patio is seriously under utilized. We were so excited to eat again at Square Burger. I remembered how good it was last time visiting this area. First we werent greeted. All the tables were not cleaned off. Only 2 customers at the bar. The place was very dirty...floors windows and the booth seats were thread bare. We were finally seated and we waited and waited. Never gave us a menu or asked us if we would like a drink. One employee had a beard and was handling food after arranging plates food.We were shocked how run down it was. We waited more and then decided to leave. We noticed the planters out front have dried up plants and we walked by the patio that also was a mess. I dont recommend eating at this establishment for health reasons and poor service. We never did get a menu. Best to go to Spoons.

This is by far one of my most favorite places to dine at and tonight did not disappoint. We were served by bar manage Jace who was extremely personable and customer focused. He had a great way about him which made our visit that much better. I had the house salad, with Texas chili and sweet potato fries & hot peach tea. My date had a house salad with a lamb burger & all of it was delicious, especially the sweet potato fries. The service was excellent I might add. The only thing I was disappointed on was I had wanted the house special of the chicken with veggies, but it was sold out. I have noticed in the past that things seem to sell out here fast on the specials. The atmosphere is chic, hip and eclectic with modern paintings, a beautiful blue tile backsplash at the bar and cute tables to sit at. There is seating in and out which is a nice touch. We usually sit at the bar as its a fun venue to watch the operations of the place and the service up there is always great. I recommend this place 110%. ,

First time visiting this restaurant since adding to my bucket list of places to eat being newer to the area. Overall it was mediocre. Staff greeted us upon arrival and we were seated (family of four) with no wait. The hostess seemed enthusiastic about us being first time visitors but didn t offer any suggestions on what to order. Waiter was nice but didn t serve any refills. Never really checked on us after food was served. Food was a good mix of modern/classics. I had the lamb burger which is served on pita and the fried pickle was a nice touch to round out the plate. Serving portions were good for the price. Lemonade tasted like it was made with gutter water. So just a mix all around to me hence the 3 star rating.

High Society Burger was yummy, Spicy Onion Rings crispy. I especially liked the Single Pork Chop, perfect portion for me. It was tender and delicious. Never a big fan of mashed potatoes but this one tasted so good. Very smooth and buttery. Tried three beers and there were more on the list to be checked out. All good. Keeping my 4 stars review. What a fantastic restaurant!!! My wife and soulmate and I are foodies , and we love dining at Square Burger every time we come to McKinney to visit our daughter and her family. Today we had a Bleu Burger that was cooked to perfection, along with Seasoned Onion Rings and Sweet Potato Fries. Our beverage was 3 Nations Devour Mexican Chocolate Imperial Milk Stout, which was out of this world tasty. Quentin gave us exceptional service to make our lunch fantastically delightful. Truly a 5-Star restaurant and dining experience. Can t wait to come back, and we may now just order another 3-Nations Imperial Stout before we leave!!!

We love to visit McKinney and try to work a stop in to Square Burger while we are in town. The dining room is open and airy, featuring large windows which allow for people watching while you eat. The bar area is open and is set to the left side of the dining room. We enjoyed a salad with chicken, as well as lamb burgers. The lamb had been ground up, much like a hamburger, and the kids pronounced the burgers as delicious!
