Great experience!!! Food, Service and Atmosphere are excellent!!! Recomend 100 % this place. I came for breakfast and it was delicious. We ate custom omelet served with fruit and tamales montado served in a black beans bed, both delicious, also the American coffee was exquisite.

After seeing so many mixed reviews my friend and I decided to still give it a try and hope for the best. Overall it was pretty good but could have been better for the price paid. I had the barbacoa bowl and the flavors were delicious but both of our foods came out warm, not hot, so the food got cold pretty quickly, same with my hot chocolate. Their butter croissants are to die for! Light and crispy on the outside and so very soft on the inside, it was by far our favorite thing we ate. My friend got their chocolate almond croissant to go since we loved the butter ones but unfortunately it was not good at all could not even eat it, very disappointing, but if we ever go back we know what to stick with. Service was good, very friendly waiter.

Very nice brunch spot! Went this past weekend and really enjoyed the food. Wife had the French toast and I had the crab cake benedict. I really liked the Benedict however the hollandaise sauce was really thin and didnt get much of it, really my only critique on the food. Posted pictures to show the thinness of the hollandaise and lack their of. The food was really enjoyable but the service was stale. The hostess in the front was friendly but out server who was an older gentleman was really stale. Not too friendly, not to talkative, he wasnt rude but he definitely wasnt too welcoming. Based on the food though I cant wait to go back and try the dinner menu.

Overpriced food. MEDIOCRE taste. $36 (1 person) ... half sandwich/small side salad, I cup of coffee, I croissant that taste exactly like the ones at heb.. I ordered a lavender late (normally its the syrup flavor) this was a reg late w sprinkled dry lavender, so ud have to keep spitting out the herbs. I was hoping this French place offered crepes, but NOPE! - our waiter was very attentive and good. Just whispered could barely hear him lol but he was good. And place is cute

Came in cause the name sounded like French inspired place. I like the upscale setup and atmosphere. Ordered a double espresso from the barista. Very polite and friendly. When I got my order I thought the cup was a bit low for a double expresso. Looked inside cup and a bit disappointed they charge you for a double and give you a single serving expresso. Not a good first impression, their bakery items looked delicious. Wish my first experience would have been better.

My son and I went there early afternoon on a Saturday for brunch. The place is beautiful and spacious. We asked for a booth and were promptly accommodated. We ordered eggs Benedict, one order with ham, the other with crab cakes. Also ordered a cafe americano, a cappuccino and a couple of mimosas, one mango and one pineapple. Everything tasted amazing and the presentation was superb! Our waiter, George, was very attentive and polite. The quality of the food, ambiance of the place, and superb service quickly made this one of our favorite brunch spots in town. Granted the price is a bit higher than other places, but that is the cost of quality ingredients. So if what you are looking for is to consume high quality food at fast food prices then good luck to you for your expectations are unrealistic! Now if you are looking for a beautiful place to have a quality meal and are expecting to pay for what you get, then I highly recommend Maison Stivalet!! Don t let reviews from people with champagne taste and tap beer budget deter you from giving it a chance!!

The place is highly priced for food that they serve cold. The service was awful as the server was not around and would not serve us what we asked us for. When we asked for the receipts they were not granted to us. The place is understaffed and highly expensive for horrible service, cold food, and a small place. We pay more here than in Texas Roadhouse, or any other restaurant where you do get quality food and service. Had a horrible experience celebrating my graduation here. I highly discouraged you to visit if you have not been. Your family can t take a smoke because the waiter will go out running asking you to pay your tab. Which was a hundred dollars for two plates. Big no for me, never coming back.

We walked in at around 10:20am to celebrate by husbands birthday. First off there are only two girls working. The hostess is very slow. No urgency what so ever. She wanted to give us a table that was already reserved for 45 minutes later and wanted us to sit there. The place was empty. I asked for another table in the case we weren t ready in 45 minutes. Then proceeded to tell us there was a 2 hour limit. Very odd and rude thing to say. Considering the fact they want people out so quickly, they took ten minutes to get our drinks then another 10 to receive them. We ordered the chicken and waffles, American breakfast and kids chicken. The waffles were cold and the chicken very chewy. The American breakfast was good. Nothing special. The best part of the plate was the biscuit with jam. The kids chicken was weirdly battered and lacked seasoning. The latte I had was good. The server was ok considering she was the only one. For the price of $80 for brunch including tip was NOT WORTH IT. Despite the pretty atmosphere the service is poor and food is mediocre.

I made reservations and arrived with my family visiting from out of town and my toddler to be told upon seating they dont have highchairs or changing tables. When asked if they didnt want kids there the waitress shrugged and said, well the owner doesnt. I found it ironic that they were hosting a babyshower as we walked out. This review is for owner Adele to realize the decision to discriminate against children will affect her business as well as others with toddlers to be aware your business is not wanted before you waste your time going there. To the owner I recommend un-checking High Chairs on your amenities. Kid-friendliness: Not Kid-friendly. Per Waitress no highchairs or changing tables because the owner doesnt want children in her establishment.

Hands down, marvelous place to eat in McAllen. The place gets pretty crowded so a reservation in advance is highly recommended. We came here for brunch, since we heard that they have Macaroons with special flavors like Mole or tamarind, which unfortunately are seasonal, but anyway we decided to try out a couple of dishes and some Macaroons. To drink we got a Mimosa and a Cold brew (made of Coffee from Chiapas, Mexico), both were extremely good. To eat we got the Barbacoa plate which was mixed with potatoes and a green salsa to die for and a couple of eggs on top (we asked them to be overeasy), it was extremely good . Moreover we got the Burger brunch which had a Wagyu patty and an overeasy egg as well, it came with a side of choice so we decided to get the normal french fries and OMG, best fries Ive ever had (seriously), they were just cooked at the perfect point, not too salty, lightly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Every single item was perfectly cooked and really well balanced in terms of flavors, without mentioning that the presentation was also very nice. As dessert we decided to get the macaroons, they had some interesting flavors, such as Lavander, Chiapas Coffee, Dark chocolate, Flaming Chocolate (which was some sort of smokey slightly spiced chocolate), goat cheese, red velvet and pistachio, all of them were pretty good although our favorite ones were goat cheese, dark chocolate and Lavander. Definitely well come back next time we visit McAllen.

They had the BEST Americano, hot coffee Ive ever tasted. Its brewed from freshly ground beans from Chiapas, Mexico. The best part about brunch at Maison Stivalet were the delicious childrens meals. They didnt have overly fancy (and expensive) dishes with extravagant names. You cant go wrong with classic meals like French toast, pancakes, eggs, (not overly salted/ spicy) bacon, and waffles. Their almond, chocolate croissant and red velvet macaroon were so fresh, light, buttery, and flaky. Sorry; no picture of these... the girls ate them before mom could snap a picture.

Made a reservation for 2:40pm only to be called by the staff as I was walking in for our reservation with my family to inform me the manager had decided to close early that day (despite having a reservation a week in advance). When I asked to speak to the manager the staff informed me he said he was too busy to attend to a customer and refused to speak to me. Food took long. We waited patiently and the waitress told us the desserts were on them since they took long on the food. My table then ordered the desserts only to be charged for them at the end. We asked why and the waitress then explained that she meant she could only give us one dessert for free not the total desserts we ordered. We arent even the type to order dessert in restauraunts. We only ordered them because she offered them for free. Then the tip was already included in the bill (understandably since we were a table of 7) BUT given that we were charged a percentage of what we were told would be free, I found this to be completely unjustified. Our waitress basically raised her own tip by misleading us. I also noticed random items on the bill that werent even ordered by our table. I would not suggest eating here

Food was ok.. i had the steak panani and potato leek soup. Didnt feel it was bad, but for the price it wasnt amazing either. My husband at the ribeye which was expensive, small and just ok. It was sliced and looked like they didnt let the steak rest long enough. Even though it took about 45 minutes just to get our food, and thats because it was basically empty when we arrived. Only 1 other pair in there. So another thing is the waitress kept touching the water container to the edge of my glass.. that is how germs are spread. You always pour water a short distance from the glass not touching the glass. Then, about 30 minutes after leaving my stomach started to ache and my husbands too. So something there was off, maybe the meat, maybe the cleanliness in the back. Either way our stomachs were very upset the rest of the day. I really wanted to like this place. Its cute, but overpiced for just okay food.

The food was amazing and so we re the drinks But the service can use a lot of help! I was there earlier celebrating my girlfriends birthday over brunch and I started us off with a cheeseboard as an appetizer, which took about 30minutes to arrive at the table. I totally understand that restaurants everywhere are understaffed but the fact that I was up charged about $4 more just to cut the cheese into hearts without them even asking me, then having to find out in my check is very upsetting. Our server also didn t tell us the gratuity was included witch I calculated was about 18% each ticket. Another thing was when I booked the reservation, I was told that they would charge a cake fee if we brought any outside cakes which I was fine with. But our server when she split the checks she added the fee to everyones check, even though I asked her to only put it on mine. No one ate the cake it was just for pictures, so I don t see how it s fair to charge every ticket a cake fee. All in all I m very disappointed in the service, if you re going to be paying a lot of money for food you d expect the service to be on par. Would I recommend this place to friends and family? If you go in a small party about 2-4 people, of course! They should be able to handle that. But if you want to do a special celebration and go with a large party over 6, I really hope you don t mind waiting about 1- 1 1/2 hours for your food to arrive. Also, just watch out for the gratuity and make sure your checks are accurate because they like to up-charge for random stuff. :)

Mimosas were so good and the deserts are amazing. Great talking space. Food was fair and my only complaint was that I would have like my food to be served hot instead of the mildly warm temperature I got it at. However, definitely recommend for brunch.

I was there this morning with a friend for brunch. I ordered Chicken Chilaquiles, my friend ordered an omelet.... They took over 20 minutes no drink order no food.... once we got our plates it was sadly disappointing there was no chicken to be seen on my plate. I asked the server, perhaps theres been a mistake... no, the shredded minuscule pieces of chicken were in the salsa. He paid $45 for two meals and 2 drinks. $15 for chips, beans, cheese and salsa.... And theres no refills on regular coffee..... Wont be eating there again....

We went to this place as I read lovely reviews. Bare in mind that a review reflects the experiences a person has have. That being said, I traveled all over the world and I grew up in São Paulo, Brazil where French restaurants are French restaurants or they will not have business. I also have been to Europe and even a French restaurant in a cruise ship. Anyway, I knew this place was a fusion but I was really looking forward to have macarons. Well, you can call them whatever else but not macarons. We also bought tartes (small pies) which, oh my, not even According to the waitress, the chef studied at a famous culinary school in France. Well, she should at least know about macarons. Their macarons were basically merengue. Macarons are supposed to be smooth and not break in a million pieces when you take a bite. So, if you don t know what it suppose to taste, you will enjoy it. The other dishes are just normal ones that are overpriced and come In fancy plates.

not worth the price or time. took at least 30 minutes for us to get our appetizer. our food was cold when we got it and they didn t cook the burger medium well even when we asked them to (you could barely even call us medium). overall, nothing tasted great and it definitely wasn t worth the price. last but not least, their kitchen staff (including the kitchen manager) wasn t wearing masks while making the food.

The place is nice, spacious and pleasant. The rich breakfast with just the right vegetables. But... the normal American coffee is not refilled and the waitress was confused with my breakfast order that I requested, which I didnt want to be bloody and return it but I did tell her. He apologized (at least he would have offered me another cup of coffee)

There was not one thing that was a disappointment. You must try the coffee special and you must try the breakfast Burger! I love le Burger, YOU CANT go wrong by this and side of fries. Their fries taste lighter then air and ketchup is awesome. The burger patty was 100 percentage Angus Beef, which melts in your mouth like butter. I recommend that you cut it in half to start working your way around it. I love this burger, it is worth it. Especially special occasion and celebrations. Cashier recommended their breakfast burger. I love it. Go Check it out!!

Cute place, too new in my opinion. They need more brunch items . The tables are extremely small and I couldnt fit my plate, water, and mimosa at the same time. I got the crepes and the menu made it seem like it was going to have like a creamy sauce? Nope. They were extremely dry. There was not a lot of taste. I actually kinda drowned each piece in Tabasco. The chicken inside was just boiled shredded chicken. Didnt like it to much. Maybe only my drink. Plus side, they have macaroons.

This was our second time visiting. We originally stopped in for the macrons, of which they have a wide variety--some standard flavors and some locally-inspired. They are perfect and delicious. The restaurant has a stylish and yet cozy feel. The staff is friendly and welcoming. This time, we decided to stop in for lunch. Our server was lively and attentive. They serve infused water, which was a nice touch. After ordering our food, we found ourselves waiting quite awhile for the Baked Brit appetizer. After almost 20 mins, the server came to apologize and advise us that another server had mistakenly served it to a table that ordered after us, and assured us she would have it out. Shortly after, the other server came also apologized for her gaffe. The appetizer arrived not long after and did not disappoint. I definitely recommend. I might have liked a tad more. Nonetheless, it was tasty. For entrees, I had the pistachio encrusted trout and my son had the chicken, which he loved. The trout was cooked just right and I devoured it along with the bed of vegetables. My other mild disappointment is that, even though the servers were attentive up until the entree was served, we were all but forgotten for a good while after. My water sat empty for quite some time. It seemed that, since the restaurant is fairly new, some servers are in training. Once the server arrived, she invited us to select some pastries. I had the chocolate caramel bar and it was devoured. As it does go with French cuisine, it is a tad pricey. I may be back again some time.

The ambiance at 9pm was pleasantly calm. Great place for an intimate date. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The Brie appetizer was a warm, creamy, luscious dip. Id hold off on the coarse sea salt on the bread considering the Brie and olives themselves are salty themselves. The mole macaron had a subtle balanced mole flavor. The decor is a fresh breath of sheekness quite distinct from what the valley usually offers. Great gem, looking forward to trying more item. Update: tried the dark chocolate macaron. For some reason the pastry had a noteable soap aftertaste. So odd, but I cant ignore the taste. Hopefully its a one-time occurance.
