Attending RGV Photography Workshops was an amazing experience for me! The instructor Rafael is very knowledgeable and patient with his students. After doing the beginner and intermediate courses with him, I feel much more confident with my camera. I highly recommend this school to anyone wanting to learn photography from scratch. Due to personal reasons I was unable to continue with the advanced course at this time, but I am planning to make it back eventually.

A Fantastic Ongoing Experience at RGV Photography Workshops! I m currently attending RGV Photography Workshops with Rafael Sepulveda, and it s been an incredible experience so far. Rafael s passion for photography and easygoing personality create a fun and relaxed learning environment. His light-hearted energy makes each session enjoyable, while his personalized feedback ensures we re constantly improving. What I love most is the hands-on approach. As students, we are encouraged to experiment, and the school provides access to equipment for our projects, which has been a huge plus. Rafael s slightly carefree nature only adds to his charm he s clearly passionate about teaching and photography. I m already seeing a noticeable improvement in my work, and I look forward to continuing my journey with RGV Photography Workshops. Highly recommend it to anyone looking to grow as a photographer!

I signed up for the beginner course and thought that would be enough for me. However, Rafael shared so much knowledge that I felt I needed to learn more and signed up for the Intermediate course. Through those two courses I learned the technical skills I needed from my camera to feel comfortable with it and to be able to artistically express myself. Rafael still had so much knowledge to share at the end of the Intermediate course so I signed up for the advance class and am learning more about studio photography while developing friendships with everyone involved in the school. I highly recommend this school for anyone interested in photography. Everyone is welcoming and friendly.

I had a bit of photography experience from college and photography as a hobby. I took Mr.Sepulvedas Beginner class and it gave me the confidence I needed to use my camera and make the best adjustments for a high quality photo right out of my camera with no editing. I believe if you ve never used a camera this will give you the skills you need to master manual mode in just three weeks. If you re a hobby photographer it will give you the confidence you need to get out there and start taking pictures and stop wasting time messing with the settings! He is a wonderful instructor and I highly recommended his courses.

I am beyond pleased with the quality of education Rafael provides. His curriculum is very wholesome. I started from zero and was able to get certified as a professional photographer with Rafael as my teacher and mentor. There is an opportunity to study theory and have hands-on practice in most of his lessons. Although he is very thorough, he often paces himself to address the needs of his individual students as well. He is extremely knowledgable in his art. He provides valuable feedback on all his lessons/homework and projects so that the students can correct mistakes. He creates a safe environment for students to ask questions and learn from him and from each other as well. Everything that is done in class is an opportunity to grow as a photographer.

I came in with minimal knowledge in hopes that I could learn from what I was reading, grasping what I could from online sources. I only got so far as there were many gaps and, at best, only a superficial understanding of settings without understanding the why to use certain settings. Eager to learn and filled with questions in need of answers, I found this school. Rafael took concepts and broke them down into more comprehensible terms. He patiently answered my questions and helped me get a more holistic understanding of photography. The homework assignments were practical use applications that built upon each other before moving to the more advanced techniques that I eagerly awaited to learn. Once there, I understood why the other lessons were important as they built the foundation that made those advanced techniques easier to understand and apply. Part of the classes were held online, which did have quite a few advantages. These include but are not limited to being able to critique homework assignments, how to use and navigate editing platforms, and learning different workflows for efficiency. Much of the conceptual understanding and class discussions happened online, which are a major part of learning, so I greatly appreciated having that opportunity. I also appreciate that you are not required to buy any equipment beyond a camera and a speed light as you have access to the studio and all its equipment. This is not only beneficial in saving money, but getting to use different photography gear and their applications before deciding to making the purchases for yourself later. You also have access to the studio to work on assignments or any other project you have, and that s a great perk. On the topic of projects, there are two big projects in the intermediate and again for the advanced that really allow you to push and explore your creativity. These were really challenging and simultaneously the most fun while being a testament of where you are in your journey and a test to see where you can improve. I may continue doing these on my own since they were what allowed me to make bigger productions and see all of the pieces come together into the magnum opus of all my efforts. I can say with the utmost sincerity that this program saved me a great deal of headaches and, what is infinitely more important, time in being able to learn something that would have otherwise taken me longer to learn on my own. Ruminating on my experience in the program, I now have a much deeper understanding of not only my camera, but lighting and how to shape it. The deeper the understanding, the more in control you are and the more you can also explore. If you re looking to have a deeper understanding of photography, but also having practical uses for different avenues in photography, be it in a business venture or simply as a hobby, I highly recommend this school. The wealth of knowledge and growth you ll gain are invaluable. You ll begin to see the world differently in so many ways as you re not only putting a lens in front of you, but turn that lens inward and see who you are and who you re becoming.
